Yelp
This somewhat odd-feeling restaurant located on a triangular spit of converging streets has very good food. I came in expecting to order tandoori chicken or one of the other things that so many people had recommended, but I let the hostess convince me that I really should order the basmati shrimp, which was excellent and I would order again.
The well-worn restaurant, a few steps above street level, has a decent-sized dining room and a wrap-around porch with a number of small tables. At least when I was here, the dining room had wide open doors on either side letting in a good cross-breeze to compliment the fans and, I think, low-level air conditioning. The windows and porch look over a good-sized intersection -- looking up the street in the direction of Chowrasta Market, a couple of blocks away -- which currently separates the restaurant from an occasionally very loud construction site. (The latter brings the plus side of getting to watch heavy equipment operate while you eat, though.) On the mid-afternoon that I was here, the staff was forcing everyone to eat at the small tables on the outside porch, which I thought was odd, particularly since it was a toasty day and the sun was steadily eating away at the shade on the porch. (Fortunately, all the diners were singletons or pairs. I really wanted a larger group to show up to see if they too would be forced to the small outdoor tables or if they would merit the cooler inner sanctum.)
The staff was friendly and helpful. I did get a sense of their possibly recommending the more pricey options on the menu as I talked through it with them, but that may have been my imagination.
