Kasteelhof t'Hooge is a nice family run hotel close to Ypres and actually in the middle of what was a WW1 battlefield. The original house was rebuilt in the 1920s. There is a big amusement park behind it but it wasn't an issue. I can see it being noisier in the summer months with the windows open but no issue in October. The rooms and hotel are a little quirky but everything is very clean, the beds are comfortable and there is good water pressure in the shower. It takes a minute to find what is the little bar/restaurant within the hotel as it's not really marked but I was also jet lagged. There is an annex building that is new, which looks like a doctor's office but I would still recommend staying in the main building if you like historic and charming. There is a nice patio and walk around what was the battlefield but it was too rainy and cold to enjoy. The food in the restaurant/bar was good and they had a nice selection of wine, beer, etc. Breakfast was included and was very good - everything was fresh and not much processed breads, etc. If you are interested in WWI, this is a good spot to feel in the middle of history. Loved the comfy down comforter and slept very well. It's not a Marriott or other chain so if you like those, this probably won't appeal but I was very pleased with my stay. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel with history from WW1. Perfect position to visit Ypres and lots of WW1 battlefield sites and museums. Clean. Whilst we stayed housekeeping each day. The only things which for us brought our rating down was lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room, no provision for free Tea /Coffee outside of breakfast hours had to pay, (We have not experienced this before) and it wasn't clear until your checked further into the hotel details that the restaurant had limited opening, not at weekends when we were staying. Both things could be made clearer on booking.com listing of this hotel. Would recommend this hotel highly

Lovely hotel, stayed for 2 nights. Friendly welcome upon arrival, good sized car park. |We stayed in the new part of the hotel. Large comfortable room great shower, lots of storage. Kitchen available for us to use. |We stayed at the front of the hotel but no problem with road noise. |Comfortable beds had a great nights sleep. The whole hotel and grounds were spotless. ||Continental breakfast - yoghurt, meats, cheese, bread and pastries, boiled eggs, tea coffee and juice all fresh and tasty and very filling. ||You can walk round the gardens and there are interesting remains of WW1 to see. ||10 minute drive into Ypres centre directly opposite Hooge Crater Cemetery and next to a WW1 museum. The Aqua park is to the rear of the hotel. ||There is a bar serving drinks which has a nice atmosphere. ||Recommend staying here for a relaxing break with the benefit of being close to many WW1 sites.

Great hotel at a truly beautiful standpoint in landscape as well as in history. It has a free WW1 memorial backyard with all kind of relics, which is free to visit for hotel guests. Large rooms with all the things you could need Amazing location near Ieper. The only downside is that the kitchen is understaffed, and that the food prizes where a bit high. Breakfast was amazing though.

Well situated Hotel. Bedrooms in modern block adjacent are good and spacious with usual amenities but no USB sockets. Bar and restaurant in original block are pleasant and staff are helpful and friendly. Meals are good with good quality ingredients, and good sized portions. Highly recommend as a base for visits around Ypres and Messine Ridge.

Wonderful location, good rooms, nice beds & lovely service. Some might say a little dated but this is not just a Hotel, it is a historical site. if you are here for the sites of WW1 this is a must stay. Not to mention great value.

Great location for visiting war history memorials and centres, Ypres, rural routes and the Aqua Park. The hotel is set within original WWI landscape and the large pond was part of a huge crater. Grounds well maintained, period-style property with modern block across the car park. Would stay again.

Amazing history and location. So pleased we stayed here. Hadn’t realised it was in huge strategic location for Great War. Trenches and bunker in the grounds set the scene amazingly for our trip to the area. So much better than a place in town. Right next to hooge crater museum. Room was spacious and simple with comfy bed. Had a great beer in quirky bar. Decent continental breakfast. Staying here was big component of a super interesting couple of days. Feel like I got very lucky with this find.
