Kastro Hotel

Five stars for the excellent central location and for the excellent breakfast! The woman catering our breakfast is so sweet and hardworking and they have an assortment of, yes, freshly squeezed orange juice, an assortment of Greek mezédes, on demand specialty pancake station, café machines for your choice coffee, pastries, fresh fruit, fresh customizable yogurt parfaits, American bfast options like scrambled eggs and sausage...etc etc. Sleeping can be loudish as every corridor echoes with no soundproofing and perhaps some unruly Americans no doubt making a ruckus...otherwise, it's lovely.

The Kastro Hotel does not deserve its "fabulous" rating on Booking at all. The rooms are poorly soundproofed, and we were disturbed by noise from neighboring rooms as well as from airplanes. The photos showing a terrace and city view are not reflecting the reality of the rooms. We were given a very simple and cramped room with no outdoor space. However, its central location is convenient, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast is satisfactory.

We stayed here for 6 nights and it was a fantastic choice of hotel. It’s very centrally located and everything is within walking distance. All the staff without exception are so friendly and made us feel so welcomed. The room was very spacious and airy. The standard of housekeeping was very high. Breakfast was really good and had a wide variety to pick from. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to Herkalion.

Small hotel but you have all you need in the room. Very good location, one minute walking from the sea. The best beakfast we had in Crete. Very nice staff, they gave us good tips.

The Hotel location is very close to the city center, breakfast is tasty and fresh,rooms are clean and modern, bed is very comfortable. There is an arrangement for a daily parking 1 minute walking from the hotel for 12€ daily..sure we will come again.

Wonderful modern hotel with responsive 24/7 staff. Rooms are perfectly clean, well-designed, roomy for 2 people, great water pressure in the bathroom, and quite a luxurious feel for the price. We stayed in the top floor so we had direct access to the roof deck. Easily walkable from center City and the main attractions in Heraklion. 18€ taxi from the airport. Breakfast is included and quite decent. Bonus - luggage storage and an elevator! Only downside is you can hear the airplanes at all hours taking off from Herkalion, even with ear plugs.

Clean, comfortable hotel in the city center, a short walk from the fortress and harbor. Excellent breakfast and friendly service. Great value for money — perfect base for exploring Crete.

Lovely hotel at a fine location nearby the town centre. There are restaurants, grocery stores and shopping districts in walking distance. I arrived to the city via the bus from Chania and left the city via ferry via the harbour. although not exactly short distance but they are walkable. it is a relatively busy city and many popular restaurants are very occupied during the weekend.
