Tucked away behind Kelowna City Hall, Kasugai Gardens is a hidden gem that offers a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle. This beautifully maintained Japanese-style garden features traditional elements like stone lanterns, pine trees, a tranquil waterfall, and a koi pond . The harmonious blend of nature and design creates a calming atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxation and reflection. I was particularly impressed by the meticulous landscaping and the sense of tranquility that envelops you as you stroll through the pathways. It’s an ideal spot for a quiet lunch, meditation, or simply to appreciate the beauty of nature. Admission is free, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy . If you’re in downtown Kelowna and looking for a serene escape, I highly recommend visiting Kasugai Gardens. It’s a testament to the city’s connection with its sister city, Kasugai, Japan, and a beautiful example of cultural harmony.

Kasugai Gardens is a hidden gem in downtown Kelowna. This tranquil Japanese-style garden features koi ponds, stone lanterns, waterfalls, and lush greenery. Small but beautiful, it’s the perfect spot for a peaceful stroll, reflection, or a quiet break. Free entry, open seasonally.

Beautiful gated Japanese garden, tucked away in downtown, amidst the parking lot on one side, buildings on the other and a bus stop and an intersection right in front. One can reclaim ones sanity from the humdrums of day today life by just being here for a brief five / ten minutes before you go back to your daily business. It’s small but cathartic; has rockery, a bridge over the water, waterfalls ( man made) beautifully flowering plants, shrubs and trees- all tamed and planted in the famous Japanese style. Four stars because the water could be cleaner and more maintained however the set up does not fail to uplift you

What a beautiful location right in the middle of the city! I am very jealous of those who get to enjoy their lunch breaks here. Happy we were able to see this on our trip:)

A beautiful little park in the center of Kelowna. The magnolias will be blooming soon and it will be even more beautiful.

Yelp
This little garden is so pretty. I was surprised to see that it was situated right in the middle of a city block in downtown Kelowna. It seems like it should be far away from a city, but it is an interesting juxtaposition. There are a couple entrances and it's easy to spot from the street if you look closely. There is a traditional Japanese gate that opens up into a beautiful area of trees, flowers and water features. On the right side of the entrance is a rock garden in which the gravel is swept in a specific pattern. I liked walking around and looking at all the interesting trees and shrubs. There is a small waterfall in the corner and a large koi pond in the middle. There is a cute bridge that crosses the pond and it's a nice place to take pictures. In the spring/summer the flowers are blooming. There were a couple of beautiful pink peonies and a few water lilies in bloom. There was also a small tree that backdropped a bench with flowers that were very fragrant. A bunch of rowdy kids were jumping along the rocks and throwing leaves in the pond as their mother watched. I guess they didn't read the sign outside about etiquette. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend it to others.

Yelp
A hidden gem this garden is! Quietly tucked behind city hall is this serene oasis. This garden is a symbol of friend ship with Kelowna's sister city, Kasugi in Japan. They keep this garden well manicured and allow free admission to the public. It was a splendid 20 mins we spent looking at the koi fish, different varieties of non regional scrubbery, trees and Japanese landscaping. One could spend as long as you'd like. Sit and read in one of their gazebos or relax and listen to the gentle streams-my favorite feature! Tip: This is a tranquil area and is not suitable for small children looking to play or climb. If you are in a need to recharge or need to to get away from daily stress, drop by the Kasugai Gardens.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday after lunch to checkout the garden. The garden is very well done - very tranquil with seating area and koi in the pond. Certainly, a great place to chat with a friend, eat a snack/lunch, or just contemplate your existence. There was a slight breeze while we were there which was nice. Very well done albeit a little smaller than we were expecting. Great location as it is right across the water front and boardwalk. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
We have been many times over the last 20 years. Beautiful design and the fis are always fun. I remember as a kid the thousands of baby fish that would be everywhere. Sadly with more and more rats in Kelowna you normally see two rats to every fish in the garden and no baby fish. The baby fish could be because of a change in fish management aka they only keep one gender of fish so no breeding now.

Yelp
Tucked away behind Kelowna's City hall in Vancouver is a lovely little oasis. This Japanese Garden is free to the public and I have spent many quiet Sundays reading a book and enjoying the atmosphere. Much like the Nitobe Gardens of UBC, the Kasugai Gardens is small but captures the essence of larger Japanese Gardens. Various foliage, interesting humble mosses, and whispering streams fill your senses. I immediately decided that this garden was very special and I haven't lost that initially feeling, yet. I am confident that that feeling will be an enduring one.
