"An Arab village with a world-class amphitheater Katara Amphitheater located in the Katara Cultural Village, also known as the Valley of Cultures, is paradise for architecture buffs and those on a tight budget as the entry is free. The architecture of the village is an innovative tribute to the old Qatari traditional architecture, with wind catchers providing a cooling system, overhanging roofs, dovecotes and courtyards. At the center of it all and overlooking the blue sea is the amphitheater, an architectural fuse of Islamic features and classical Greek theatre. The amphitheater can accommodate 5,000 people and has hosted open-air film viewings, dance shows and music concerts by renown artists like Vangelis, who was the special guest for the opening ceremony in 2011."

Katara Art Center acts as a hub for emerging cultural communities in response to the need for a critical grassroots and multidisciplinary framework in Doha that engages with socially relevant issues and events both contemporary and historical. Artists, designers and the public of all ages are encouraged to expand and challenge their understanding of contemporary art and creative disciplines. Through the facilitation of theoretical and practical programs, KAC encourages and fosters the construction of productive and sustainable collaboration among individuals and institutions locally and internationally, beyond reactionary market trends. KAC supports emerging artists and designers through in-house exhibitions in the gallery, workshops, exhibitions in the region and abroad. A community oriented program engage enthusiasts, students, institutions and professionals to foster the sharing of skills, knowledge, and experience. Designers, students and enthusiasts are exposed to new and unconventional ways of looking at design while keeping close to its original intent. KAC also supports young and established collectors to develop a keen and genuine interest in arts of all disciplines and support for artists of all nationalities.

Its a nice place place to visit. They provide free shuttle inside the venue, and are very kind. It has models of lots of old shops, buildings, arts, crafts, things, furniture etc which is traditional in Qatar... Don't miss it, go and enjoy with the beach view inside the venue...

Katara was born out of a long held vision to position the State of Qatar as a cultural beacon a lighthouse of art, radiating in the Middle East through theatre, literature, music, visual art, conventions and exhibitions. This village shall be a glimpse of the future of a world where people of different cultural backgrounds overcome their national boundaries and embrace common causes to promote a united humanity. Katara is where the grace of the past meets the splendour of the future.
