One of my favourite places to bring the visitors of Berlin over. My experience has always been fantastic - with food, curated selection of drinks and the staff is just the absolute sweetest. Your guests are bound to stay in awe with the quirky interiors. And let me tell you - I haven’t yet visited this place in the best (warm) season, which definitely gives it a benefit of a gorgeous view and a one-of-a-kind riverbank terrace.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and I can confidently say that it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service was nothing short of excellent; the staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making sure that every aspect of our visit was enjoyable including a recommendation for the wine. The ambience of the restaurant further with "warm lighting and cozy seating. For the starter I tried the mussels and celery based “Sellerie aus dem Salzteig” these were amazing. I decided to try the fish for the main course and I was absolutely blown away. Every bite was sumptuous, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The attention to detail was evident, from the seasoning to the presentation. It was clear that the chefs take great pride in their craft, and the result was a truly memorable dish. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was fantastic. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful meal in a beautiful setting. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!

What a gorgeous setting for dinner, along the Spree. The service was excellent and the dishes prepared with care. The tomato salad had the perfect mix of flavours and the salmon just the right amount of crunchy tasty skin.

Google
Good food and beautiful ambiance right on the river. Unfortunately, the service really let the experience down. Our waiter was inattentive and slow; we had to repeatedly ask just to place an order, and it took 1.5 hours from arrival to actually getting our food. For those prices, I expected better. If you’re not in a rush (or not very hungry), it’s worth visiting Katerschmaus for the setting and cuisine. Otherwise, be prepared to wait.

Google
we didn't have a reservation, luckily we found two tables. very nice place, full of details, staff always attentive to the customer. I can say that in addition to the location and the staff, we were super enthusiastic about the food. Placing, flavours, contrasts, colours, super, everything was to our liking. I want to give an extra point to the octopus, I rarely eat such a well cooked octopus. Will be back and highly recommended

Google
Totally unique experience. Setting is beautiful right on the river, food is delicious and one of a kind, and the service is warm and kind and welcoming. Two of us went for dinner and had oyster mushrooms (in oyster shells), octopus with lentils, and gorgeous steak. The restaurant is set in a fun and lively outdoor social area, super fun hangout for the warm months.

Nice location but slow service and the food was average at best. for the price you should expect a better chef. The fish dry, the beans not well cooked, the gratin without taste …

Google
The service was absolutely terrible, the food took ages to arrive and our server would not make eye contact with us. The location is great, the food is ok but there isn't much choice on the menu. The location is great and the place beautiful, I really like the cocktails too, but our evening out was ruined from how bad the service was

Yelp
This place is very popular so make a reservation if you want to dine here on the weekend. Though, I wonder why it only has 5 reviews if it's full every night. Censorship or a non-yelping clientele? The place is hectic and fun but don't expect them to lay out the red carpet for you. We had made a reservation but we're asked to wait a few minutes. We saddled up the bar without an invitation and tried a couple of their house cocktails - Good but a little weak. The menu is short and seems to change regularly - my favorite kind. The steak tartar main with an organic egg on top and mouth-watering toast was delicious. The tartar was ever so lightly seared around the outside. The pumpkin gnocchi with stone mushrooms and tomatoes was also excellent - an tempered explosion of flavours and textures. They offer a menu of side dishes that are more interesting than your typical sides but then a la carte. The endive and fennel covered by a peanut crust caught our attention and was light and quite nice. The semmelknödel soufflé with mushrooms was very tasty - an creative fusion. We enjoyed a Pinot noir from Rheinhessen called Noir. The creme brûlée was excellent as were the espressi. The only weird thing was that they asked me not to take picture in the restaurant which surprised me for such a madhouse. Verdict: I would come back especially with visiting friends or family given the eclectic atmosphere and fun location - right on the Spree. If warm outside it would be great to eat on the deck.

Yelp
EXCELLENT! Two of us had the fish menu, two beef and one vegetarian. The Vegetarian wasn't wowed, but the rest of us were. There were items on each dish that I don't normally choose, but the combinations of flavors and textures led to very delicious food! The sommelier treated us as if we were the only people in the restaurant. He helped us choose a wine that we could all share. He taught us about schnapps and kept bringing it. We were in Berlin for a 3-day weekend, and Katerschmaus was our first meal. I considered going back on the last night, as well - it was that good!

Yelp
The food was amazing!! I got the beef tenderloin and a glass of rosé and I was ridiculously satisfied. Service was slightly unorganized but quick and easy. Wonderful ambience. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Please Avoid This Place - They Rip-Off Customers: We went to this very expensive Berlin restaurant with our cousin from Berlin, and the customer service was atrocious and we were ripped-off by our completely rude and inexperienced waitress. In addition to making us wait over 45 minutes for the food and failing to take our entire order correctly (i.e., items were missing when the food finally arrived), the restaurant used deceptive descriptions in their menu to overcharge us by over $70 USD on a bill totaling $150 USD. Specifically, they had a very deceptive item on their English menu for steak, which stated 15 euros for 100 gm and in "parentheses" stated you could purchase up to 500 gm for the steak. After my 14 year old daughter asked for a small portion of the steak, the bill arrived stating that the steak cost 75 euros (which is approximately $90 USD). When my German cousin explained to the waitress that my daughter ordered a small portion for 15 euros, the waitress said in a rude and unsympathetic manner that the minimum purchase was 500 gm and she would do nothing to remedy the 75 euro charge. After we paid the entire bill, the manager of the restaurant also dug-in and said no mistake was made. Although the manager finally offered to give us a free coffee and a dessert, the gesture was too late and too little to remedy our anger and disgust with being ripped-off by a deceptive and fraudulent menu. PLEASE AVOID THIS RESTAURANT which is very expensive and not worth the aggravation with so many other great restaurants in Berlin. T. Slome (Rancho Palos Verdes, California).

Yelp
A handful of us found this place by accident and it ended up being a great local spot to hang out at. We were due to go to the club down the block, but noticed some people standing outside this entry. Fortunately, the couple of us that were adventurous to walk through the sketchy alley leading up to this speak-easy wine lounge found a real gem! There are a handful of tables in the dining room as well as a bar, outdoor patio and kitchen. The menu is open to all until 11pm or so and then you are lucky if you are able to snag some bread to snack on or some sweets. The wine list was very reasonably priced, the background music playing was perfect to maintain conversation and the dim lighting really adds to the ambiance of this place. The service here was accommodating and spoke English which was nice for us and should we come back to Berlin, we most definitely will come in the summer time to enjoy the outdoor space this place has to offer.

Yelp
Awesome place tucked into a residential neighborhood. Maybe the best dinner I had in Berlin.

Yelp
Great Location but way overpriced and the food doesn't even live up to its price. Great disappointment l
