AMAZING stay! The property sits inside acres of a pristine meadow, with the large Esopus creek running through, and stunning mountain views. We chose a suite that seemed the most secluded, with the back deck facing the meadow (beautiful view!). Not that it mattered that much, as we spent more of our time sitting by the creek taking in the mountain and water views. We had a full kitchen, but also took advantage of one of the many grills available throughout the property. I LOVE all of the uber cool vintage decor! The Japanese plunge pool being heated at night was a much needed respite for my tired muscles after some long hikes. Geralyn the office manager is excellent at communication, even answering emails outside of office hours. Coming from the hospitality industry I really appreciate that. She is great. The confirmation email pretty much gives you all of the information you need to know, which was extremely helpful. It was our second time here, and we can't wait to come back.

Wonderful kitschy home base in the Catskills! We stayed in Suite 5 over Memorial Day weekend and loved the vintage pink kitchen along with all the other mid-century, vacation cabin-type decorative touches. The location is perfect - just a stroll down the path to lounge chairs on the bank of Esopus Creek, plus only a few minutes drive from Woodstock and Phoenicia. Having the rosy kitchen was great for coffee in the morning and cocktail hour at night, although the suite comes with everything you'd need to prepare a full meal if you want to. There are such great restaurants within a stone's throw of the Meadow, so we mostly ate out. The best part was bringing our little dog along who was off-leash for almost the entire weekend. The whole area is super dog friendly so she came everywhere with us and had a ball! Carmon, Devin and Nathalie could not have been nicer or more helpful. We'll definitely be back!

We had stayed at Kate's Lazy Meadow in 2018 & thoroughly loved it, this time we opted for Kate's Lazy Cabin about 15 minutes away, great location for visiting towns of Woodstock or Phonecia This was way more than just a "cabin". It is a fully functioning 3 BR 2 full baths house, great kitchen with ALL kitchen amenities you could possibly need, including a dishwasher. We could have had dinner parties for 20 people! The whole place was spotlessly clean, plenty of extra clean fluffy towels. Beds soft and heavenly. Artfully decored, much like the Lazy Meadow. It was quiet peaceful time in the woods.

This was our first ladies trip to the Catskills. Kate's Lazy Cabin was roomy enough for 4 adults and 2 teens. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to cook all of our meals there. A new bathroom was recently added although the hot water was not adjusted properly and only tepid showers were available in that bathroom. However, there was plenty of hot water in all the sinks and the other shower. The dishwasher was a big help as we like to cook. All of the appliances functioned and included a stacked washing machine and dryer (big plus!).||||The cabin stayed nice and cool even though the days were warm. The decor was rustic and the artwork was nice. However, the seating was very uncomfortable. We ended up bringing in the deck chairs, which were the most comfortable seating in the place, to play board games. The dining room table was huge...big enough to do a jigsaw puzzle and have 4 adults eat without moving the puzzle. The benches however, were very uncomfortable. Thank goodness for the copious amounts of throw pillows available!||||There were no directions given for getting rid of trash, Since we spent nearly all of our time in the cabin, for 5 nights, we generated 5 bags of trash. There are no outdoor trash receptacles because of the wildlife. We called one day and a staff member did come pick up the first bag of trash. After that, we were told to put it in the mud room. That was unacceptable because of the smell and the resident mice (which you get in cabins). We were told that in the future we should haul our trash 2 miles to the KLM dumpster. For the amount of money we paid to rent the cabin for 5 days, that seems kind of ridiculous.||||Be aware that there is NO cell phone service in this neighborhood. Luckily, the cabin had complimentary WiFi. Make sure you set your GPS before you lose your cell phone service or you may get lost. Or print the directions ahead of time.||||I would also advise bringing extra septic tank safe toilet paper. We nearly ran out by the last day. We would have but I found a quarter of a roll in the medicine cabinet of all places.||||All in all though, the cabin served its purpose and we had a good time. With some minor tweaks, I would give it 5 stars.

Of course the beloved Kate Pierson's lodging is all about her fabulous taste so the decor was what made us first want to come here. We booked suite 8, which is a bi-level half of a cabin and I highly recommend it as the most private/separate area to book. The kitchen nook is adorable and the VCR/tapes selection and terrific art books were a bonus. Down the road is the famous diner, Phoenicia Diner, and Worship Vintage on the highway down is not to be missed.

First time for a wedding the family ventured to the Catskill. Many of the members stayed at the Lazy Meadow Motel -- it was great there with cute theme cabins for each guest. - -BEST FEATURE was right behind was the esopus river where family took resting time to fish and just get wet at the lake.||We stayed at the Cabin - sad it was 10min away, but quite quaint. Very room with a full living room and full kitchen. The deck was had such a cool breeze, I completely agree to our surprise in July there was no need for air-condition - mornings were great. Only downfall was the 1 bathroom for the whole family -like back in the days when Dad called it the office to know who's turn it was -perhaps one day they will add a half bathroom or remodel to make 2.

We stayed here for a weekend in December and it was the perfect getaway spot. Our suite (6A) had a gorgeous view of the meadow and creek and really fun, kitschy feel. For me, it was the perfect level of rustic, but not so secluded that I felt anxious or trapped. The suite itself was appointed with tons of sweet little touches, such as a collection of dvd and vhs movies with local connections, complimentary night shirts, and really thoughtful decor. For Twin Peaks Fans, it felt a lot like I was in a room at the Great Northern, which made it even more fun. The little kitchenette was the perfect size for a weekend break, with a little propane stove and refrigerator. My only criticism here is that I'd have preferred a bigger coffee maker, but this was not at all a big deal. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the suite has a full bathroom. Then there is the view! This suite's deck looks out over the meadow and creek. It was such a joy to wake up and be able to look out into such beautiful nature. It was very cold out while we were there, so we didn't spend a lot of time on the grounds, but what we did see was breathtakingly beautiful. Kate's is located very close to Woodstock, which made for a pleasant afternoon trip to walk around and sightsee. We also enjoyed takeout from a local diner one night for dinner. Even with COVID restrictions in place, which limits recreation options around the site, and means the office is unmanned, we still felt like the staff at Kate's had gone above and beyond in taking care of us. The bottom line is: If you're looking for a fun getaway somewhere that feels a little secluded and also a little urban, this is a great option. It's not a luxury hotel or cabin in the woods, but somewhere satisfyingly in-between.

Sign says, woo, stay away fools||'Cause love rules at the love shack||Well it's set way back in the middle of a field||Just a funky old shack and I gotta get back||||The lyrics say it all. Kate's Lazy Meadow is the brainchild (/love child) of the B52's Kate Pierson and her partner Monica Coleman. ||||We found it by accident, casually googling "cool places to stay in the Catskills" and Kate's popped up. I thought - "no way - we can afford it, no-way they'll have availability" but the Karma gods were looking our way.||||This is a laid back, fun property. The accommodations range from little suites to cabins, each uniquely decorated. You can tell the ladies have so much fun collecting mid-century quirky items. Our room was embellished with owls, butterflies, gnomes and an alien spaceship. It just made us smile!||We stayed in Suite 4, it is nicely stocked with vintage dishes, little fridge, microwave, coffeemaker (and fixings), & toaster oven. Instead of a flat screen TV, there's an old school TV and VCR with a library of B-grade movies to watch! That would have been totally fun but we were too technically inept to make the VCR work. (Next time we'll call a 12 year old for instructions).||||I don't know what to rave about more - the "meadow" along the river, studded with hammocks, fire pits and comfy lounging chairs - or - the awesome stone-salt-water hot pool. We soaked in it under stars so close you could reach out and touch them.||||Coincidentally; Woodstock is a just few miles down the road, yep, folks are still making money off tie die and peace signs 49 years later. It's a blast from the past you can't miss!

Yelp
This is my third stay so it's easy to say I'm enchanted with this place! Its picturesque setting by the Esopus Creek and vintage decor make this such a fun and charming getaway! They've added the plunging pool since my last stay and we enjoyed a dip with a rosé! Full disclosure: I'm a huge B-52's fan so I'm a bit biased but this is one of my favorite getaways ever! Have a meal at the Phoenicia diner down the road - you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Stayed here in Jan, 2017. I love the B52's and this was something I wanted to do for a long time. I guess my expectations were too high. Pole lights marking the Lazy Meadow's place on the highway were burnt out and we blew right by it. We were the only guests there. No inkeeper, nobody. Just us in the dark. We found our key pinned to the office door and entered suite #2 which had the atomic style you would expect but was a "Van Gough." As soon as you got close you noticed yellowing edges, broken tchotchkes and dust. It was like the place hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. I itched in bed throughout the night (dust?) It was cold so there were lots of space heaters provided and wall heaters in the bedroom but plugging in the space heaters caused a fuse to blow and with no one on site or answering the phone, we were forced into our separate bedrooms for the remainder of the evening in order to stay warm. The wall heaters could not be adjusted so it just blasted dry heat. I can't believe I paid $200 to freeze and itch after a 5 hour drive. Oh yeah, and the wifi didn't work.

Yelp
Kate and Monica did an incredible job putting together a cozy place to escape to. The location is terrific - far enough from the city to relax, but not too far to make the travel home a total drag. Interiors are kitschy, clean and comfortable without being over the top and extra. All the necessary needs are met, comforts of home... unlike many Airbnb places, we needed to bring nothing with us. The staff was wonderful, the property has plenty of lush green surroundings, hammocks to relax in, and the Espous Creek is right behind the property. Nights ended in the incredible natural salt spa which gave us something to look forward to. Absolutely looking forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
A wonderful, whimsical, and silly escape from NYC. Looking forward to going back! They really did a great job at creating such a special vibe that was so happy and memorable. It was unlike any other hotel we have ever been to. I found all of the cabins including the ones in the motel strip to be larger in person then how they seemed on the motel's website. Each has at least a separate living room and bedroom. There is also an old fashion railroad Scenic Train within walking distance which we wanted to take but did not have time for: 5 mile round trip between Mt. Tremper and Boiceville -- a wonderful 45-minute minute railroad excursion. Looked cute! http://catskillmtrailroad.com/ My husband wished it would have had better wi-fi and cell service. But he could get service if he walked up to the road right by the parking lot.

Yelp
Excellent escape from NYC! Only a Two hour drive. Quaint cabins, kitschy decor, gorgeous surroundings! The two of us stayed Wednesday- Friday. Perfect amount of time. As it was pre-memorial day, (pre-busy season,) we were the only two guests staying there! Got upgraded to a bigger cabin, (6A), with a cute kitchen and better view! A beautiful, relaxing, quiet escape for a couple! The only time we saw anybody, was when we drove into town to buy groceries! Definitely make use of the barbecue grills! Spend a day exploring the Esposus Creek! Get the chicken and waffle sandwich at the Phoenician Diner! Stay in, drink wine and watch VHS tapes! We will definitely be returning. And an extra special thanks to Nathalie, for finding and returning my lost sketchbook!

Yelp
I ADORED this place. I dont even want to tell any of you about it. You dont understand how perfect it is. Its probably a bit pricey but you're getting a one of a kind experience. Do I dare say more? What if everyone wants to go and I cant get in? Okay, here's the deal. Kate has beautifully decorated tiny little two story loft bungalows and they are just movie-perfect. How often can you get a cabin experience, with this much style without buying and decorating it by yourself? NEVER!!! I almost could live here, and willingly give up all my stuff. Did I mention you are just a short (hop skip and a jump) from a giant creek with mountain views that we had all to ourselves? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? BREATHTAKING! By creek I of course mean a beautiful river. At least thats what it looked like to me. This was no tiny little stream. Oh yea, and everyone has their on grill to BBQ. Wait, it gets better. Walk across the street to a stellar and incredibly well stocked farmers market! Oh and if you want and even more unique experience, stay in one of their airstream trailers parked creekside! They are small and beautiful and you get to have all the fun of camping without the whole tent routine. If that isn't enough, you're surrounded by the Catskill mountains, and only minutes away from Woodstock and some great butchers too (for your grilling pleasure!) If you are looking for a unique experience, do not pass this up. An all time favorite for now and always.

Yelp
Great fun place to stay in the Catskills. We were in Cabin 5, and the AC worked just fine. The decor was rocking with the kitsch factor. The kitchen was so fully stocked with utensils, that I may as well have been home. This allowed us to cook up a terrific feast two nights running. There was even a blender! There's a small salt water pool that they heat up to hot tub temps in the evening, and a huge fire pit by the river. You are welcome to use both. The Airstreams are small, but they are RV's, so what do you expect? My favorite was the Tinkerbell, as it was the furthest from the others, and had the best decor, in my humble opinion. Each Airstream has it's own grill, AND fire pit. Tinkerbell has a hammock. I'm not sure if the others all have that. Our friend Beth stayed in Tinkerbell, and she loved it. We had a great experience with the help. Carmen gave us extra utensils, and towels upon request, and was quite friendly. I will say that we also stayed at another place while up here that was cheaper, but heck, you only roll around once; and I think a stay at Lazy Meadow is definitely worth the dough for the experience.

Yelp
My wife and I have been staying at Kate's a few times a year for about 7 years now. We love it there. It is easy to get to, they have a great market just down the street and other wonderful things to do in the area. The river is absolutely beautiful and we often BBQ and make a campfire in the evenings. The shacks are really fun, their movie selections make for a great night if it rains, and the staff are more than friendly and accommodating. We couldn't recommend Kate's enough for a quiet long weekend getaway.

Yelp
We needed a break from reality - The dead of winter, busy at work, carting kids to games and concerts. We gathered our besties and headed to Mt. Tremper for an overnight mini-vacation. While researching motels and hotels, we found that most wouldn't back down from the 2-night stay rule (which is expected). Kate's was surprisingly very accommodating probably because it was the dead of winter. And they allowed our canine friend Princess to join in the overnight adventure for a small fee. We stayed in the suites. Kate's suites are real funky - great vintage style with authentic 50s appliances and fixtures. The suites were decorated with kitschy artwork and vintage furniture...VCRs with a fun selection of 80s movies. The river is nearby and a beautiful sight at midnight under the light of the moon. There are a few issues with Kate's however. Nothing major, but it feels a little run down and neglected...In our suite, the vintage fridge must have pooped-the-bed and has been replaced by a standard fridge. The trees outside the motel haven't been manicured and tried (with great effort) to poke our eyeballs out when visiting our friend's suite. The shower backs up...soaking your feet in the filth of others. The ranges in both suites had issues - burners just didn't work. The bed legs in suite 3 were about to fall off...We warned our friends to "take it easy," if you know what I mean. It's a neat place. The service was fine. But I do hope that they'll take some time to improve their property. Trim trees, add carpets on the cold linoleum, new beds, call a plumber, etc.

Andy V.

Yelp
Kate's lazy meadows was a cute place but def a place to stay in the summer and not the winter. My honey bunny and I stayed at this place for a long weekend away from the city. Where to begin? This place was very cold. the linoleum floors ( yes, real linoleum) were extremely cold; a nice shag rug would do wonders. The portable space heaters they provided did work, but since you're out all day and the heat is off, the room is an ice box when you return and portable heaters take forever to work. The bed was less than comfy. Lover and I kept having to give each other back rubs to massage the knots away.....the bed collapsed a few times because the under bridge support was too small for the bed. We kindly complained and they fixed the issue. However, they still need new mattresses. Decor was old but that's what makes it cute. Bathrooms: Bathroom was really cute and very colorful. I usually like to shave in the shower but this shower was too small for that...... i literally had to turn off the shower in order to apply the soap because there was no room to turn the shower head or move away from the water stream in order to get a good lather going on my HOT naked body. The shower products they use smell good and don't leave you dry. Why three stars? Because the first night we slept on a bed with a downward slope due the bed being broken and they didn't offer to discount us for our negative experience on the first night. (we had to use a pillow as a body stop (like a door stop but different) in order to stay on the bed. All in all it's a cute place but def WAY overpriced for what you get. The end-

Yelp
It's located on a beautiful stream, and the meadow is across from a 24-hour food market. Def stroll across the street for that market -- you can get a pint of organic, local strawberries for $2, plus a ton of other stuff. We were two couples in Cabin 2, a two-bedroom, two bath cabin with living room and kitchen. Decor is adorable, cabin as comfortable, bathroom soaps/shampoos were Bee Kind brand, and Weber grills were available for use. It was a lovely weekend. But Kate's isn't going to be everybody -- if you want to be in the Catskills and stay in a cabin, this is ideal. If you want to be in a service hotel, there are cheaper options. And if you just prefer camping, that is a WHOLE lot cheaper. I love being outdoors and I love the Catskills, but next time I'd rather pay a fraction of the price and just pitch a tent on a nearby campground.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I spent two nights (NYE 2008) here in Room #4. We wanted a mellow hang outside of the city and that's what we got. It snowed while we were there so we got to traipse around the grounds in the snow - the Airstreams were closed up for the season but looked super cute next to the river. I would have loved to stay in an Airstream. We enjoyed our room, though I did have to redecorate a bit - luckily I had just bought a Balouch rug in Woodstock and the rug worked out nicely on the cold linoleum floor. I don't remember the bathroom very much and the bedroom was nice. The living room just needed my touch and then it was enjoyable. I called this summer to inquire the price on the Airstream for a night and would have ditched NYC for a night in a 'Stream but it was overpriced for what it is so we decided against a second stay at Kate's, though in the future I may return. Just keep in mind that Kate's is super rustic and will probs not be for everyone. If you like the idea of camping but you don't actually like camping then this would be a good place for you.

S S.

Yelp
Poor value. Paper thin walls through which you could hear the next door couple talking clearly. Other louder activities were even more audible. Did not get any sleep on one night. There was dust and cobwebs in the corners. The rugs looked dirty. The bathtub did not drain well and regurgitated filth onto your feet. For over $500 for 2 nights you'd expect to atleast walk out with clean feet and a good nights sleep.

Yelp
My friend and I took an 11 day roadtrip in Oct. 2012, that was largely based on the fact that we both wanted to stay here. We did so many other things too, but this was worth it on its own. We stayed in suite #2, which is part of a building with 4 or 5 suites. It was cozy, kitschy, and a mid-century fantasy come true. Plus, there was a DVD/VCR player and a stockpile of fun thing to watch like new wave video comps, "Spice World", and an epic called, "Nudes in Limbo". Find that one and watch if you can! Our suite had two bedrooms, with super comfy beds and duvets. Each had it's own bathroom, with fun toiletries that are said to be ones Kate herself snags on the road, and tons of towels. The kitchen had a refrigerator, stove, and microwave, so if you want to bring in food from the farm stand up the road and cook, you can. There is a hot tub outside, which I didn't use, but my friend said was pretty great. There were some cute places to eat in the area including Phoenicia Diner for delicious breakfast and Red Onion for a slightly fancy, bistro dinner. My only complaint about Kate's is that there aren't a lot of accessibility features. The suites were the most accessible and they each have 2 or 3 stairs to enter. I went with a portable ramp and suggest that for anyone who uses a walker or wheelchair.

Yelp
My 2nd time staying here (the first time was 8 years ago and I have a cloudy memory from that time) and I was happy to see Kate's was still around. I'm a huge fan of a theme motel or hotel, and this love shack is a lot to look at. We stayed in the gnome cabin #4 with a wet bar, and we didn't want to leave (so we kind of didn't). Was pleased to see there was a stocked dish set and silverware, paper towels, microwave and toaster oven! I came just expecting a mini fridge. Had a hard time getting the cable to work (until I found the 2nd remote our 2nd day) and the DVD player didn't open up so we couldn't play our locally rented film, but we still had a blast watching Kardashian marathons while eating Phoenecia fudge, playing MindTrap and looking for bears by the river (didn't see any). Perfect getaway from the city for those not interested in roughing it in a tent. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Let me preface the following review with a bit of weather-related background. We stayed at Kate's this past mid-July, where the temperatures in Upstate New York can reach a 100 with almost a 100 per cent humidity. And indeed, the day weekend we stayed, it was fortunate enough (insert super sarcasm) to hit both. Needless to say, A/C was going to be imperative, even more so if you are staying in a small metal box, in full sun, not designed to handle Mother's Nature red-hot fast-balls. So, yes, we stayed in one of the quirky designed Airstream 'Cabins' that Kate's prides itself on. And yes, the a/c broke down. Of course, it was not noticed that it happened until the moment we checked in. So, basically we were given a shrug and a 'hopefully the repairman can come tomorrow' response. Say what?? It was easily about 105 inside the Airstream and we pretty much left to fend for ourselves. Not even offered a fan. If you were going to be renting out Airstreams during one of the hottest weekends of the year wouldn't you make sure they were all up and running in ever capacity. If I had been someone prone to illness there is no way I could have survived inside what was basically an enormous oven. Since we had rented a car to drive to Kate's we ended getting back in and driving off to town to find an air-conditioned restaurant where hopefully upon returning we could sort-of sleep inside the Airstream. The next day, waiting out the repairman, who showed up about four hours late and promptly said 'It's just being over-worked, it can't handle this heat. There is nothing I can do", then turned around and left. Again, I made my way up to the main desk-to find a sign on the door that if no one was in someone would be there soon and if it was an emergency then there was number to call. I called the number, as it this point we had no electricity at all in the Stream, and the woman on the phone pretty much told yes, we know of the situation someone will be there soon. So, my husband and I basically sat the rest of the afternoon out in the 100 degree heat while waiting on someone to bring us a fan. In the end, since we enjoyed the area so much, we made a pact we would not let Kate's ruin our entire experience but they really almost did. And, after all that we weren't even offered any compensation for having no choice (as all area hotels were booked) to just put up with the ridiculousness. I still have a weird sweat smell in my travel bag. Now, Kate's is a bit like a campground, there are a few actual rooms in a pseudo-sort of hotel/cabin-like building, but for the most part the Kate's piece-de-resistance are the Airstreams. Each with their own theme (ours was 'Tiki'), they are very self-contained little units with an almost-full kitchen, tiny sitting area, and an extraordinarily small bathroom (if you were over a 180 pounds or six feet tall I have no idea how you would use it). If we had not had such terrible experience with our Airstream and then even worse service once it all unraveled, I wouldn't be writing a negative review. I can say almost wholeheartedly I will not be returning to Kate's. I feel like jerk for having stayed through the whole weekend.

Yelp
We first visited here in 2007 and I remember being charmed for the most part by the whole kitschy aspect of everything and only had a few minor issues. On our recent visit in 2013, I kind of feel like the honeymoon is over with me and Kate. Granted, this is the Catskills - not the most with-it area of our fine state. It's an old mountain resort. I just have to think that there are better options. Here are my notes: - Yes, to the musty smell. Luckily it was warm and dry outside so we opened every window and this subsided. But, if it was rainy or cold, that might be a real deal breaker. - Small. We stayed in #3 which is one of the single bedroom units. We were up here for a wedding and it's a tight space to have two people trying to get dressed in. I travel for work constantly (here and overseas) and this is pretty much the smallest hotel room I've stayed in over the past three years. - Showing age. In our room, the wallpaper was peeling in two places (kind of majorly). Lots of obvious spider webs - for instance next to the phone and the lamp right by the door. I realize we're in the "woods" and spiders are everywhere, but this is a housekeeping issue, not a "woods" issue. - The shower is tiny. We live in NYC and have a small shower. My wife's review of the shower was, "it's impossible". - The price. I'm torn on the price. Our room was $200/night. Six years ago I may have thought that was a good price for the fun decorating and the whole adventure and history of it all... My little internal value voice is making a bit of noise. It was fun to stay there once - but I know there have to be better values and properties in the Catskills. Right? It needs a freshening up.

Yelp
So disappointed. The website makes it look super fun and outdoorsy. Maybe it started out that way? But not any more. The plunge pool is totally neglected. The minute I walked into the room it was like I was in someone's Grandma's old musty basement. Still, I went with it, thinking it was "kitschy" like everyone else has said. Then I hit the bedroom. Tiny, little,broken-down, stained pillows with stained sheets. Wires hanging out of the back of the tv from the other room. Mini fans and de-humidifiers everywhere--that obviously weren't working because the smell was terrible. The bathroom...God help you if you are tall and need to sit on the toilet. The shower was tiny with stained ceilings. It was like they bought out a garage sale, taped some butterflies to the walls and decided it was good enough to charge $260 a night. Bottom line--I slept with my 6yr old in the car because after two hours I couldn't breathe from the mustiness. Awful. The Emerson down the road looks beautiful. Go there. Wish I had.

Yelp
Things we loved about this place: the funky decor, the location, being away from cell and internet access, the heat in the wintery months--it's an unique experience! We really, really wanted to love this place but we had so many challenges, and what was worse is that when we told the person working there about our experience when we checked out, the response was "I'll make a note of it. Anything else?" Here's some of the challenges we had in suite 3: the sheets were kind of old and had several holes and bleach stains on them, the bed broke one evening when I had just been laying there and was getting up and we had to put it back together, the sink leaked into the trash can, the squirrels that ran through the ceiling at night, the water stains on the ceiling above the bed, and the walls are paper thin and we could hear our neighbors conversations, and the hot tub wasn't working and no one called us back when we called and asked about it (because the staff isn't onsite in the evenings). I would say try it once if you're into a unique experience, and maybe go with the cabins or airstreams because they are supposed to be nicer--but we'll probably never go back again.

Yelp
This is my kind of paradise. I love it here so much I hope to buy it all one day and never leave again! I've stayed at the Meadow three times in different rooms in all different seasons from a long weekend to a week and have always been entirely happy with my stay. The local Chinese restaurant down the road is fantastic for a night in with scary B movies. Last year for my birthday six of us with our two dogs stayed at the cabin. We were very comfortable and happy there, but it was hot in late June and we missed the proximity to the river. The nearby towns and groceries are great, albeit quiet in the off season with a lot of the shops closed. The rooms are always well equipped for cooking and entertaining, and if it isn't you can borrow stuff from empty rooms. They encourage relaxation at Kate's and we've never had an issue doing that! Bring some raw nut mix for the chipmunks and they'll be your best friends.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for an emergency "get outta the city for the weekend" and adored it. The bad: This hotel is definitely not for everyone. It's a bit pricey and if you're looking for attentive staff, you might want to consider going elsewhere. We arrived after the office closed on Friday and picked up the key. Tried to check in all day Saturday, but no one was there. There's an emergency number that you can call until 11, after that you are on your own. There is also no cell phone service, but that's true for most of the area. The good: The rooms are freakin' awesome, done up in High Kitsch. Everything you could need is there--microwave, fridge, glasses (water, martini and wine), corkscrew, stirrer and shaker for hard drinks. Plus, there was some very yummy shampoo/conditioner/soap in the bathroom. There is a library of old DVDs, also, as the cable TV is limited. Wi-fi, however, was free. Unfortunately, the Airstreams and hot springs were damaged in the hurricane, but we did get to walk by the river, which was calming and beautiful. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
"Sad - take the other negative reviews seriously. I should have." We booked the Lazy Lodge while attending a Catskills destination wedding in Big Indian nearby. 50s kitsch is one thing, but musty, moldy and worn out are better adjectives. The cabin's siting on a creek is wonderful, but inside the beds are ancient, the bathrooms moldy, and the clock on the period wall oven provides a steady irritating background hum. Would have been OK (not great, but OK) were we not paying $400 per night. Plus a $50 "housekeeping" charge (we were informed of this in advance) and another $25 for phone and wi-fi, which we were NOT told about. When I questioned this, I was informed by Carmon, the property manager, that "it was in the confirmation email." Which it was not. When I brought this to his attention, well, you can read his response below, as well as mine. Bottom line, if your expectations are low and you don't mind paying a lot for a little and then a little more for things you were not told about earlier, then this is the place for you. But I'm thinking that there must be better places to stay in such a beautiful area. "Hi, We received your email this morning. The charges that you are discussing are standard charges that are charged every guest at the Lodge so we will not be able to refund them in this case. We're sorry not to be able to accommodate you in this matter. thanks, Carmon" My response to Carmon: "They may be "standard charges," but we were not informed about them ahead of time. It is disappointing that you were not being forthright when you responded on the phone that the wi-fi charges were in the confirmation. They weren't. According to reviews I've since read, we were not the first people to be taken in. Even the $50.00 for inadequate "housekeeping" (previous guests' garbage left in the kitchen) could be forgiven and forgotten. But stealing and lying about the wi-fi, not so much. Unfortunately, I will be adding to the growing list of travel site reviewers who were less than satisfied with Kate's customer service. Apparently this is a tradition at the Lazy Meadow that goes back quite a while. This was the first time in years that I made a booking without consulting the reviews and reading the comments carefully, both good and bad. Your well-produced website was very convincing. I will not be so trusting again. I can't imagine why I thought that "shiny happy" Kate Pierson would also be a conscientious innkeeper. I guess fame, even the faded variety, just works that way. Thanks for the lesson and the reminder." Stayed November 2013 1 of 5 stars Value 4 of 5 stars Location 2 of 5 stars Sleep Quality 2 of 5 stars Rooms 2 of 5 stars Cleanliness 1 of 5 stars Service

Yelp
What a great weekend we had at the Meadow!! The location is fantastic, central to so much! We enjoyed a weekend of fall adventures, had great meals in the area, and always enjoyed coming "home" to our little retro slice of heaven. Service was great, room was cozy, and a morning walk to the river was a great way to start the day. If you are in the main building, be prepared-- as with so many of the buildings from the day, the walls are paper thin. Bring earplugs if you are sensitive to sound, and if you are telling secrets, keep your voice down! ;)

Yelp
We have stayed at Kates (at the Main Motel) many times. Unfortunately this time we rented the "Lazy Cabin at Mink Hollow". Kates is always a bit expensive (we paid around 1400 for Fri-Mon, abt 460 a night) - but somewhat worth it. The cabin is not in a particularly great area of Woodstock, it looks more ugly suburban than rural, with lots of 60's ranches and run down houses around the cabin. The cabin itself could be very nice, but it has seen better days and needs to be refurbished. The biggest problem is that practically nothing worked! We went assuming we would cook in and the cooktop was broken and filthy - which ruined our idea of a nice dinner one night, the microwave didn't work properly, and the washing machine didn't drain. Also bathroom was run-down, water pressure awful, and the place just had a down-at-the-heels feel. It just looks like the bad summer rentals I used to get in college, and considering it's too expensive for college students I would suggest they upgrade to accommodate their target market. A total disappointment.
