Great hostel to wind down at in the busy city. Good location, on the edge of Thamel. Room had nice view. Simple but nice breakfast. Babu, the manager/owner, is really kind, welcoming and helpful. He was a gracious host and made our stay very enjoyable. He was knowledgeable about treks and adventures in Nepal, and was able to provide guidance to help us plan our trip. I highly recommend this accommodation! Would definitely come back here.

Quiet, hospitable, and comfortable. The owner and his family are very welcoming. Babu has experience with mountain trekking, so you can safely ask him about any of the trails. The dining/lounge place is a perfect area to meet other travellers. The breakfast was always an amazing start to my day. I would highly recommend staying here!

My Garden House was our favorite stay in Nepal! It is a clean, beautiful , Shangri-La oasis tucked away in Kathmandu. It is walking distance from the monkey temple and awesome shopping, but still quiet and peaceful. My Garden House is a haven in the middle of the bustling Thamel. It is such a beautiful spot and it feels like you could be in the quiet countryside, rather than the vibrant city. It’s really perfect for a calm start and end to your day in Thamel. Babu is an excellent host who makes you feel welcome, safe and offers so much useful advice for things to do and see. Babu booked our bus out of Kathmandu for us and got us an excellent price. Babu answered our questions about things we saw in Kathmandu and was a perfect introduction to our time in Nepal. The service is second to none, with the chef being the best in Kathmandu! We enjoyed breakfast everyday (eggs, toast, tea/coffee, fruit) as well as dinner a couple of times - dal bhat, dal fry, aloo paratha & chana masala. All were cooked completely fresh and were delicious. Our room was lovely with two huge windows looking out to the mountains and Babu’s beautiful, well cared for garden. We slept well every night with the quiet and comfortable bed. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every second. Thank you Babu & team for a truly excellent time in Kathmandu - we will be back if we can!

Best accommodation in Thamel area. It’s close to all restaurants, shops and historic buildings and at the same time is not as noisy as staying in other areas of Thamel. Babu is a great person. He used to work as a mountain guide so he gave us a hand organizing our solo treks to Annapurna Circuit and Everest Base Camp. We left our luggage while we were up in the mountains and they had been taken care of if. Breakfast is great and the service they provide to organize the bus (to Pokhara and Chitwan) picking you up in the front door of the hostel is awesome, even at a better price than booking it by yourself. Argentina was here! 🇦🇷

Loved my stay here! The owner and staff are very friendly, funny and welcoming which made my stay extra special. The garden space is really beautiful- a perfect place to chill and to meet fellow travellers, escaping the hustle and bustle of Thamel! Breakfast is prepared fresh every morning, which is included in your stay! It is such good value for money 😊 I hope to return in the future!!

Babu goes out of his way to make sure that everyone has the best time possible in Kathmandu and also in Nepal in general. I originally booked this hostel because I read that he is a big help with organizing treks & also offers the best prices. After comparing a few companies and talking to other travelers it turns out that it's true - so I ended up booking the Manaslu Trek through Babu and it was absolutely incredible! So if you're planning on doing a trek in Nepal you have to stay here!! I spent the first two nights in the dorm and then decided to move to a private room as the hostel is social enough, even if you're not staying in the dorm. The beds in the private rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast is basic but delicious (coffee or tea, toast with jam, eggs, banana). The location is perfect as well - only 5 minutes walking to Thamel. I will definitely stay here again if I'm ever back in Kathmandu.

My Garden House was my favorite stay during my time in Nepal. It was incredible value for the small amount of money spent each night. The hostel garden grounds were a peaceful, quiet place to relax, away from the noise of Kathmandu's streets. I was welcomed to a lovely breakfast and coffee each morning. Lots of freebies like drinking water, towels, and toilet paper mattered a lot to me. Other hotels in Nepal were skimpy on these things. I had a good rest on a comfortable, clean bed that was easily accessible to the in-room locker and nearby shower/toilet. The location was so convenient. It was easily walkable to ATMs, shops, and restaurants on its street as well as in touristy Thamel. It was also a 30-minute walk or a 7-minute scooter ride to Durbar Square and Swayambhunath, two very famous sites. Most of all, Babu and his assistant were so helpful and kind. I never hesitated to ask for something. Though I didn't book any tours or travels with them, I saw Babu helping other guests with that. I'll remember their hard work and hospitality for a long time.
