Fantastic hotel in the heart of Thamel. A quiet sanctuary. The gardens are so peaceful, food and service in the restaurant is great. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. A very cute resident kitty 🐈 Highly recommend!

We stayed at KGH for two nights prior to our trek. This was the second time staying there, last time was April 2019. The rooms were pure disappointment. The carpet was dirty, full of hair and dirt, the bathrooms not functioning well. We looked at another room as well and it was as bad, so def. The souther wing rooms are all in the same shape. It is really a shame that such a nice old establishment has degraded and offers rooms with this low quality. Maybe at a point they were one of the only hotels in Thamal but currently with a lot of competition in Thamal they need to step up and offer clean rooms! We cancelled our reservation for our post trek and stayed at a beautiful and sparkling Clean hotel with the same price. The pros of KGH is its beautiful garden, central location and kind staff but for us this was not enough, we needed a clean room and functioning bathroom for the price we were paying. I am giving it two stars for the staff that are nice and the beautiful garden.

Overall, the dining experience was positive, particularly the good food quality and reasonable pricing for the location. ​However, a few areas for improvement could enhance the visitor experience, especially during peak times: ​Ordering Process: During festival seasons, assigning at least two staff members to handle food orders instead of relying on a single, busy staff member with a tablet would significantly streamline service. ​Food Wait Time: The one-hour wait for food was excessive. To manage the waiting time, offering complimentary drinking water could be a welcome gesture, and focusing on reducing food preparation time would greatly improve customer satisfaction."

My 5 stars go entirely to Riyoj, the bartender at the rooftop bar “Studio By Artist” in Kathmandu Guest House. He is the sole staff handling the outlet, yet he manages everything under pressure with calmness, politeness, and true professionalism. His hospitality skills are unmatched, and the drinks he makes are simply the best I’ve ever had—even compared to places I’ve visited abroad. Riyoj is extremely talented, dedicated, and deserves a higher position. Honestly, the warm and welcoming atmosphere I felt at KGH was mostly because of him. The hotel itself is calm and pleasant, but Riyoj made my stay truly memorable. KGH is very lucky to have him, and I hope they never let him go. Highly recommend both the hotel and especially visiting the rooftop bar to experience Riyoj's hospitality.

The hotel is clean with a very calm and pleasant environment. The staff are friendly and welcoming, which makes the stay even better. The small gym is a great bonus for those who like to work out while traveling. Overall a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.

I understand it's a old heritage but they really need to fix some amenities. The bathroom tap needs to hands to turn on because it's not fixed it moves, bathroom also needs a deep clean, the bidet doesn't work with full force.

16/12/22: This is truly a great place to stay if visiting Katmandu; the place is like a quiet oasis of calm away from the noise of the city only a short distance away. The accommodation, service and grounds are delightful as so is the cuisine. There is also plenty to see within the Hotel’s splendid grounds too, including the art gallery-museum and craft workshops garden and the many decorative ornaments and sculptures. However, venturing outside the hotel grounds although a fascinating and enlightening experience to see the many splendid shops and eateries, it is not a healthy experience as the pollution from the never ending traffic jams of closely packed cars, trucks and motorbikes is so intense you can feel it with every breath. There have been many, many famous individuals stay at this hotel as you can witness on displays and the pathways around the grounds.

Great place to stay. Expensive compared to other places but excellent rooms and facilities. Could benefit from a sauna and hot tub in the spa!
