Fantastic hotel experience. The hotel is very well located in the center, stepping out the gate numerous shops can be found to satisfy basic needs and shop for souvenirs. There is closed garden in the center surrounded by the hotel buildings to chill or enjoy a cup of tea, etc. The food service is excellent, there is variety for all tastes and purified water tank all over the place to keep hydrated - this is very well-thought. The staff is very kind, approachable and kindly adjusted to our special needs. Places are clean and we were very satisfied with the cleaning service provided.

This is truly a great place to stay if visiting Katmandu; the place is like a quiet oasis of calm away from the noise of the city only a short distance away. The accommodation, service and grounds are delightful as so is the cuisine. There is also plenty to see within the Hotel’s splendid grounds too, including the art gallery-museum and craft workshops garden and the many decorative ornaments and sculptures. However, venturing outside the hotel grounds although a fascinating and enlightening experience to see the many splendid shops and eateries, it is not a healthy experience as the pollution from the never ending traffic jams of closely packed cars, trucks and motorbikes is so intense you can feel it with every breath. There have been many, many famous individuals stay at this hotel as you can witness on displays and the pathways around the grounds.

It's a great place - rooms, good, service, warm purple, ambience - everything. Being right in Thamel, one is practically in the heart of action. That might mean nights are not absolutely silent, but only if one is super-sensitive to sound. It has become a repeat hotel for me. I hope I come here again - once for holiday.

I think I first stayed 25 years ago and have been back a few times as well as staying in many other hotels in Kathmandu (Aloft/Radisson/Shanker et al.). There is still something magic about this place - right in the centre of busy Thamel, and yet an oasis of calm with a wonderful garden, delightful staff and good rooms. Wouldn’t always be my first choice, depending on what I am doing and where I am going/what I want, but consistently excellent.

Charming, Instagrammable Stay in the Heart of Thamel I stayed at Kathmandu Guest House for just one night, but it left a great impression. Nestled right in the heart of Thamel, it’s surrounded by cafes, clubs, shopping spots, and currency exchanges — perfect for tourists looking to explore on foot. The hotel itself is beautiful and full of character. From lush gardens to cozy corners, it’s a photographer’s paradise — super Instagrammable! They even have a museum, souvenir shops, and a tea tasting corner, which was such a lovely touch. I stayed in an Executive Suite, which was spacious, comfortable, and worth the higher price for a short stay. I noticed that the more budget-friendly rooms felt a bit too small and cramped, so I’d definitely recommend going for the higher category if comfort matters to you. The breakfast was okay — I had higher expectations, but it was decent for a one-night stay. The staff were helpful and check-in was smooth. The garden areas and outdoor seating really make it a great place to relax. My room didn’t have a great view, but honestly, the hotel itself is a destination — I’d love to stay 2–3 days next time just to explore more of it. Overall, a lovely and peaceful escape in the middle of the buzz of Thamel. Would definitely recommend it for those who want both charm and convenience!

Kathmandu Guest House is a peaceful escape right in the middle of Thamel — the courtyard and garden are beautiful, and the location is unbeatable. I stayed three times during my trip and found the Deluxe rooms to be spacious, clean, and well worth the small extra cost. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the on-site spa was excellent after trekking the Manaslu Circuit. The Standard rooms are quite basic and less clean, so I’d definitely recommend upgrading if possible. Great value for a premium experience by local standards.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Kathmandu! The service was incredibly welcoming, and the receptionists were super nice, they even upgraded my room. Everything was very clean, and the garden was beautiful. The location was perfect since it’s right in the center of Thamel, making it easy to shop around.

A wonderful stay at Kathmandu Guest House! The location in Thamel is perfect close to everything yet peaceful and relaxing. The gardens are beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is incredibly warm and helpful. A perfect blend of history, comfort, and hospitality.
