I stumbled onto this gem of a hotel while looking for something inexpensive and close to the center, both of which this is. Staff gave us a royal welcome, whisking away our bags and installing us in our enormous room in this Ottoman-era mansion, overlooking the Selimiye Mosque, widely considered to be the masterwork of the legendary architect Mimar Sinan in 1569. The historic boutique hotel was part of a palace complex, and its beautiful rooms, lobby and garden befit the heritage. The rooms are fitted out luxuriously in an updated Ottoman style, with modern bathrooms (ours had a spa-style shower; other rooms have whirlpool tubs). Breakfast (included in the modest price) was a grand buffet, with extensive choices, and we enjoyed it in the sunny garden room. All staff, from the manager down to the chambermaid, were warm, courteous and attentive (the chambermaid with whom I shared no common language, just winked at me, took me by the arm, and gave me a full tour of all the rooms, every one of which was different and beautiful). This hotel gives insanely good value for the price. I have never in my life enjoyed a hotel stay so much.|
