"Let’s start big picture here. This scenic paved trail runs a little more than three miles, from American Airlines Center near downtown all the way up toward Southern Methodist University's campus at the north. The trail is protected from traffic and shaded in most places, making it a perfect spot for jogging, cycling, rollerblading, and more. What's it best for? The old railway is a retreat amid the somewhat overdeveloped downtown and Uptown areas. In the summer, you'll want to hit the trail early to avoid the heat of the day, but if you need to get a workout in and don't want to stare at the TV in a hotel gym , there are few better places. Is it easy to navigate? The trail is a straight shot, north and south, with several different access points along the way. There are water fountains for you and your canine friends, and bikes are available for rent. All said and done, how does it fit into a visit to Dallas? The Katy Trail is a nice way to traverse this little pocket of Dallas if you don't mind working up a sweat." - Laura Ratliff

Nice trail right through the uptown. The trail has been maintained properly and lots of daily commuters use that regularly. The parking can be found on the street and it’s little difficult sometimes. There is bike path and access to the downtown across the trail. The trees surrounding the trail keeps the environment clean and fresh.

Long and interesting concrete paved trail that always has some art installations going on. It's like an outdoor museum! When I went the current art installation were these squirrel men. It was a fun task for me to go and find them hidden in normal places that you might find real squirrels. But since it is a very popular trail it is not relaxing at all and you constantly have to dodge other people, bikers, skateboarders, dogs, etc. At least there are plenty of benches to take a break and people watch

Winding through the heart of the city, this enchanting trail captivates with its verdant beauty and abundant bamboo, casting a spell that momentarily transports you from the urban hustle to a serene haven, an oasis nestled inconspicuously amidst the bustling cityscape.

Great urban trail. Nice cafes and restaurants alongside. Takes you all the way downtown to AA center. 70-80% shaded. Katy trail ice house is nice to stop by. Plenty of water fountains on the trail. Connections to Turtle Creek trail and to Reverchon Park.

This is a great option within the city. It isn’t quite nature but gives the illusion. The whole trail has two paths running parallel. One for just pedestrians and one that bikes can use too. It is fairly busy and crowded and not something I’d consider peaceful. You are still surrounded but plenty of road noise and buildings. There are some restaurants along the trail as well as well as apartments and homes that back against it. It is something different if you enjoy walking and running but it doesn’t give a park vibe. Just depends on what you are looking for in a trail.

Absolutely loved our time here. It was a beautiful warm day, perfect for an afternoon stroll. So many people were out and about. It was perfect, spaciously busy. People were enjoying being outdoors, getting fresh air. The Katy Trail is right behind the Toulouse restaurant. Exceptionally clean and beautifully pavemented, gorgeous trees and greenery surrounding the trail. Highly recommend coming here, absolutely gorgeous
