Kauai Cove Cottages

EJ’s cottage is exactly what we needed for our Kauai trip! We stayed in the Hibiscus unit and it was exactly as described - clean, comfortable and quiet. We also appreciated all the amenities from the beach chairs and towels to the lovely chocolates and drinks in the fridge. The cottages are perfectly located about a 2 minute easy walk to Baby Beach which was perfect for sunsets and turtle watching. It was also a convenient home base for all our outdoor hiking and kayaking adventures. Definitely recommend this spot!

The cottages are really just a single unit divided into 3 small rooms with separate entrances. It's a 30-minute walk from Poipu Beach. The rooms were hastily cleaned, with lots of dust left to accumulate. There are cockroaches, and the cleaner just sweeps them under the bed or a night table. In the evening, when you open the cabinet doors or drawers, cockroaches run in all directions to hide from the light. When we told the owner about this, he suggested that the bugs could have been brought by us as it's easy for roaches to hide in a rental car trunk. This tells you a lot about the owner's desire to deal with the problems. Unfortunately, upon arrival home, we had to leave our suitcases outside the house and spend hours carefully shaking every item to make sure none of the cockroaches sneaked in. This is not an activity anyone would be looking forward after vacation, as you can imagine. The property clearly gets little attention from the owner. The kitchen is not very useful other than keeping takeouts in the fridge. For example, if you hope to warm up some meals or cook something basic, you'll be out of luck. The hot plate is decades old. If you want to boil some eggs, as an example, it takes 30 minutes to bring a small pot of water to boiling. The knives are so dull that you can't cut a tomato. The knife sharpener is broken. A/C is positioned awkwardly as it blows air directly at a person on the right side of the bed. The bathroom has no a/c or ventilation and becomes uncomfortably hot throughout the day. There's an excessive collection of dust in some places: corners, behind TV, under the furniture. We are tidy people, and during our stay, we kept everything clean, just like we keep our home clean. Attached is a photo of how we left the property - clean dishes, clean sink, etc. So you can imagine how it felt to stay in this cottage. In summary, the place needs some serious owner attention and bug control. I can not recommend this place to anyone.

We had a great time here! The room is very cozy and the bed is so comfortable! It was convenient to have the kitchen with appliances and even a blender. We made yummy smoothies with local fruits. The location was very convenient - 5 minutes walk to a shopping area with restaurants and a pharmacy, 1 minute walk to seeing cute sea turtles and 5 minutes walk to baby beach. There are many beautiful beaches within 5-10 minutes drive. Strongly recommend this place!

We absolutely LOVED our time at the Kauai Cove Cottages. This was our second time on the island and we can say with absolute certainty that we would stay here again when we return. The cottages are in the PERFECT location. You're close to several restaurants, a Longs (CVS), and Baby Beach. You don't have to stress about bringing beach gear; they have a cooler, chairs, umbrella, mat and beach towels for your use. While the cottages are "basic" in terms of appearance, they have everything you could need to make breakfast, lunch and even dinner, sleep and refresh while enjoying your time on the island. I (selfishly) hope that word doesn't get out about them as we always want them to be an option for us when we travel to Kauai. The host, EJ, is super responsive and even answered a late night call for us when an issue arose.

The BEST! A wonderful patch of the island. Literally all you need with that extra personal touch. Just 2 miles down the road from some of the most scenic hikes, caves and coastal views -- EJ was so helpful in guiding us there. Accommodations were very comfortable and central.

If you don't want the hustle and bustle of big hotels and resorts and like to hear the birds in the morning, this is the place to be. Kitchenette has everything you need plus coffee grinder and coffee beans for fresh coffee every day; a few items in the fridge and ice maker in freezer. BBQ on the patio with table & chairs. Lots of items in the washroom if you forgot to bring shaving cream, shampoo, etc. and the water pressure and shower head were wonderful! Also, everything for the beach so no need to rent: cooler, umbrella, beach chairs, beach mat, beach towels and even snorkeling gear. We were in the Hibiscus cottage and the neighborhood was super quiet, great for walks with shops and beaches nearby. Other shops and beaches accessible by car within 10 min drive. Great location to tour the island. My only negative comment is the bed mattress is too soft.

I don't often leave reviews, but the Kauai Cove Cottages deserve the accolades! It is the perfect get away spot, and my fiancé as well as myself had a wonderful stay. The owner, EJ, went out of his way to make accommodations for our late return flight so we could shower after going snorkeling in the morning. We would wake up with the sun, drink a mimosa, eats some freshly cut mango and pineapple, and then use the provided beach chairs and umbrella to go and hang by a new beach everyday! This was an amazingly relaxing vacation. I would and will recommend the Kauai Cove Cottage to all of my friends and family! Ps. One piece of advice is to make a Costco run (right next to the airport) to pick up some fresh fruit and bubbly for a nice morning mimosa :)

The place is a home away from home. I love it the minute I step into the Hibiscus cottage.Attention to details are def spot on from the picture hanging on the wall to the herbal shampoo in the bathroom,everything is just PERFECT. Location is very private and yet accessible to all the must see places here in KOLOA.

Another fabulous stay at Kauai Cove Cottages! This is, hands-down, our favorite place to stay on Kauai. The cottages are beautifully decorated, a short walk from the beach, and well appointed. EJ is the perfect host and was responsive to our needs -and a terrific source for hikes and activities. This was our fourth stay here -- and we'll be back again and again to this vacation paradise!

We had a wonderful family vacation, staying at the cottages. One of the owners, E.J., that we had all of our interactions with was extremely available and responsive, kind, and accommodating. He processed our reservation on a short notice and instead of up-charging us for an extra bed for my son arranged for an additional unit upon our arrival. It was furthermore touching to have arrived to a pitcher of chilled filtered water in the fridge and a box of Hawaiian chocolates on the counter! The cottages were in a quiet, residential neighborhood. A small "baby" beach was walking distance, though we rented a car and enjoyed exploring the different beaches that Kauai had to offer. The inits were clean, comfortable, designed in tropical style, with on-demand air-conditioning, and free WiFi. There was also miscellaneous gear that one could need for the beach, such as beach towels, chairs, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, tents, which were nice to have prior to making decisions to rent. Though we did not use them, there were a BBQ, stereo, and TV available. It was great to have the kitchenette with all the basic kitchenware, as we stocked up on basic groceries at Costco and ate out strategically, sampling local cuisine. E.J.'s welcome folder was very helpful and has basic information on Kauai, recommendations on places to eat and rent additional gear, local farmers markets, as well as where to find local safety information on swimming conditions. There was a note on Kauai's emergency alert system that I wish I had read before the monthly routine test sent me frantically into the streets asking neighbors about the racket. :) There were also some Kauai guidebooks on a shelf and miscellaneous brochures in a drawer. Kauai Cove Cottages was the perfect accommodation for me and my boyfriend's trip out to Kauai. Our cottage had a nice grill, air conditioning, free WiFi, a comfortable bed (great sheets and towels), nice bathroom, and a convenient location to Poipu beach. It is an extremely good value and nicer than the other (more expensive!) places I've stayed in Hawaii. Plus the owners were nice and had the dates we needed on relatively short notice. Will definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for anniversary getaway this year. When we pulled up we realized we stayed here back in the 90's as well. Both times we had a great experience. Unit is nice and clean, well stocked for going to beach with towels, chairs etc. table outback to relax and BBQ. Since it was a long time from our first stay I can tell they update the units as needed and it is well maintained. Around the corner is a great small beach for kids and adults who like snorkeling in the rocky areas that provide a breakwater for waves. We live Oahu so I'm sure we'll be back soon.

This is one of the best places we've ever stayed. The place is basically a bedroom with a well set-up kitchenette. Very comfortable and nicely-furnished. Best of all is the location: just up the road from a variety of beaches including Lawai beach with good snorkeling and the cove a couple hundred yards away (accessible through the parking lot of the condos at the end of the street) had a bunch of sea turtles on the rocks and in the water when we were there (January). The owners were really friendly and helpful in pointing out good snorkeling spots.

Stay here - you won't regret it! Great location and walking distance to the ocean. Located on a quiet street, away from the touristy resorts. The cottage is very well maintained and had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly and helpful. So happy we stayed here!

A great value, Kauai Cove Cottages are a little off the beaten path but in a good way. Tucked into a quiet suburb of Poipu you feel like you are away from it all but are just minutes from the hussle bussle if you want it. Nicely appointed end unit studio (Plumeria) with all the amenities you need--fully equiped kitchenette, full bath, private patio with large gas BBQ, umbrella, beach towels, cooler and beach chairs. The queen size bed with bamboo frame was super comfy! The owners EJ and Diane are very helpful, sweet and close by in case you need anything. Their recommendations for beaches to visit are excellent!
