From the moment we arrived we knew we had arrived at a very special place. The staff were so welcoming and the park blends well with the surrounding forest. It is well thought out, the facilities are beautiful, clean and reflect the area’s history and locality. It felt like a home away from home. The loveliest park we have ever stayed at. We will be back.

Lovely campground with excellent facilities and friendly host. Log fire in kitchen/dining area was a bonus on our winter camping trip! Glow worms and feeding the eels at the campsite was an additional highlight. Good location for various Kauri walks and close enough to Dargaville for getting supplies. Highly recommend.

Kauri Coast Top 10 is without a doubt the best Top 10 my family and I have been to. The facilities and rooms are spotless, reception is friendly and helpful and the campground has so many activities to keep the whole family entertained. We are back home now wishing we could have stayed longer. A++++

Very nice park to stay at in our camper van. Quiet place, away from the main road. Plenty to do at the park, eg feed eels, follow nature trail. Close to other attractions in the area.

I stayed here for 5 nights in July in a studio. The room was clean and very comfortable with decks on both sides. It was well lit and had plenty of hooks for clothes in the bathroom. The camp has rivers on three sides. There are glow worms under the bridge, and eels in the river nearby. (When they know they are going to be fed they come out in the day as well as at night.) It feels remote but is not far from Dargaville, the beaches, Kai Iwi Lakes, and Tane Mahuta. Trounson Kauri park is only 5 minutes drive. It is also worth going to Nelson’s Kauri shop. The wifi wasn’t great but given the area that wasn’t surprising.

Well appointed rooms with plenty of parking. Doubles or double with bunks. Good heating and fire in the kitchen/lounge. BBQ received good use

We where honestly a bit disappointed. Only 3 showers and 4 toilets for the ladies in the whole camp. At camp waipu caves we had 3 times that. I would hate to come when the camp is at capacity as there was always a line and it wasn't half full. The river and swing is great but we all came thinking there would be rubber tubes available as per the video on their website just to be told they no longer provide this. There is beautiful scenery around but everyone came but absolutely covered in bites. No one in our party even mentioned coming back. Sorry but really disappointed.

Yelp
Brilliant Place to stop! Perfect place to stop just a few hours form Auckland. Close to the "big tree" Lovely spacious sites for motor homes, caravans and camping, next to the river, beautiful views over the river with walks along side, even have their own glow worms in the rocks! We took the night walk the camp site recommended, through the forest on the night of the cyclone with their infra red lamp! The managers of the site were awesome and told us what to look for and how to use the light for maximum effect. Creepy, dark wet but great fun. Saw possums, Conch snails, glow worms, silver ferns and 1000yr old trees. Although we met another couple that saw the Kiwi Birds unfortunately they hid from us! Would recommend this camp site everytime. The shower blocks were quite amazing the cleanest and nicest I have ever seen when camping 10*!
