WARNING: Kava tastes VERY VERY VERY bitter. However, it's still a must-do experience and very interesting indeed.
Having never heard of Kava before, I didn't know what to expect. We came here with a party of 5 on a Friday night, and it was tight squeeze indeed. It was essentially one central bar area, and about 10 - 15 stools around it. Not ideal for a larger group on the weekends. The vibe was very new age....and chill. Just chill.
Given this was my first time, I resorted to listening to the bartender on what he recommended, which was the Friday special (similar to a happy hour kind of deal).
Obviously everyone will experience Kava differently, but for me, I experienced a mild body high. My muscles were relaxed and I felt very at peace and chill. There's also an anesthetic effect on your tongue. Overall, the sensation lasted about an hour for me; not long, but long enough to feel satisfied with the value.
Overall, I don't know if I'll try it again, but I am very happy I had the opportunity experience this.
