Japan's Izu Peninsula Is Considered the Birthplace of Wasabi—How to Visit
"A compact but dramatic gorge hike made up of a linked series of seven cascades that present an almost continuous parade of falling water through lush, canyoned terrain—ideal for waterfall-focused walks and photography." - Kristen E. Pope
A wonderful series of waterfalls that are very easy to access. The trail is very well kept mostly concrete and very easy for almost any one to complete. There are a few areas with some steep steps and a wooden bridge. The falls and river are beautiful and make this well worth a visit. You can complete it easily in under an hour even if you linger a while. There is a cool area where you can attempt to land some small stones on a rock out in the river for your wish to come true. Each fall has an associated diety a story and a stamp so be sure to bring a notebook to collect the stamps! You cannot get in the water though while we were there a tour group walking the river and going over some of the falls was going by. If you are in Shimoda or any nearby town this would make an excellent trip.

The hike around the waterfalls was wonderful. It’s well kept and you can take the route from either end. We took a bus to the top of the trail and did it backwards. The falls are various sizes with a couple of them busting very tall and majestic.
They had a couple rock throwing challenges along the hike that were fun. You’d pay 100円 to an honesty box and then take three tries to toss the rock into a basket a ways out.

Awesome half to full day itinerary. Actual trail effort will only take an hour, but it can extend to half a day due to:
1. Waterfall bathing and onsen
2. Soba with fresh wasabi and cafes
3. Picture taking and souvenir shopping
All in all, highly recommended

Nice walk to the 7 waterfalls. 3 and 4 are an easy walk. 5, 6 and 7 require some stairs to climb. After the 7th one there's a sign to go up some more stairs, but there nothing to see there. So don't bother.

It's great. However if you'd like to swim, the swimming area closes at 4:30PM, which is a huge problem a lot of people run into and end up missing out.

Nice hiking trail along the waterfalls. If you start from the Mizutare Parking lot it would be downhill the whole way. Lots of stairs and slippery in places. Takes about 30-45 mins each way.

Amazing nature walk!
Lots of steps to climb, wooden planks, steps and bridges
But the trek is totally worth it.
Too beautiful place!

This is a remote and scenic hiking trail with 7 waterfalls to peruse. It's a bit of a hike but it has a nice atmosphere. When it rains, the petrichor is dense.
The small shop at the entrance is a tourist trap but has some tasty treats. Sesame candy, wasabi seeds and large sticks of sugar and honey.
