"In recent years, kayakers have increasingly taken to the vast expanse of waterways in the centre of Copenhagen. Offering a unique perspective on the city’s best-loved sights, kayak tours typically last two hours and are usually conducted at a relaxed pace. There are a few operators to choose from but Kayak Republic is well established and offers short courses as well as guided tours. On its three-hour Nordic Food tour, a light paddle around the harbour to sample fresh seafood is followed by a mussels supper on the “floating beach” at Kayak Bar."

9 Best Canal Tours in Copenhagen

"Kicking back in a boat and letting someone else do all the work has its perks, but chartering a kayak means getting access to the narrowest of Copenhagen’s canals. Kayak Republic’s charming waterside station houses a trove of kayaks for guided tours and rentals, as well as a laid-back sailor-style bar with beer and local seafood for an après-cruise bite." - Jenna Scatena

Fantastic kayak tour. We were total novices (as in zero kayak experience) but Kasper; our guide, was wonderfully relaxed and made it a great experience. He gave a short but informative safety briefing on land, as well as explained simple techniques but it wasn't long before we were in the water. Admittedly it took a while for us to achieve a basic level of ability in our double kayak but we never felt rushed or embarrassed - perhaps helped by our small group. The tour itself was great, it really is a unique way to observe the city and provided many views you'd only get on the water at that level. Kasper was very knowledgeable and full of interesting facts about the history of the city as well as divulging lots of information about current day Copenhagen. He was talkative and easy going the entire time and made the tour effortlessly enjoyable. There were plenty of opportunities to stop and take a pause while chatting and enjoying the views. The sunset aspect of the tour really was a plus too and we got lucky with some very nice weather and a lovely sunset. Highly recommended 👍

It was a great experience kayaking in the canals of Copenhagen. People are very friendly, and it feels safe in every aspect. Kayak Republic has its kayaks in excellent condition, and all the equipment you may need. It's an activity certainly recommend.

Amazing kayak trip was quite fun to kayak down the water there is an area along the path to get in the water for abit as well but the water is super super cold so… The staff is a little unfriendly but they get the job done so no complaints there

Nice experience for kayaking along Copenhagen canal. The equipments are in good condition, and there’re plenty of restrooms/shower rooms.

Renting a SUP and paddling through the canals was my favourite activity in all of Copenhagen! Attention: if you‘ve never paddled a SUP or kayak before I recommend booking a guided tour!!! This place is not ideal for beginners to try without guidance. If you have prior experience, rental here is perfect! I have a SUP at home in Switzerland so I feel comfortable using it without any help. I arrived at 10:00 in the morning, and paid 195 for 1 hour rental (which is a very fair price btw, as I‘ve rented SUPs all over the world, many of them more expensive, and the SUP here was of great quality!) I changed in the changing rooms and left some things in the free lockers there. Then I got a lifejacket and a small printed out plan of the canals, and in less than 10minutes I was off and on the water with my SUP. I was surprised that they did not help me get on the SUP or gave me some instructions, but was actually happy to save that time and spend more time paddling, but again, if you‘re a complete beginner this is not for you, book a guided tour instead. I paddled the yellow tour on the map they provided, which is marked as 1 hour and took me about 45mins. It was such a great experience! Beautiful canals, so peaceful in the early morning and I even had some morning sun warming my face. People were so friendly and waved from the bridges and other boats. Obviously bigger boats have precendence so I had to be a bit careful not to get in their way, but it‘s mostly tours or small private boats, so they drive rather slow and arent as scary as a big ferry. I took lots of pictures and videos and was so sad I had to give the SUP back after 1hr (because of my flight home). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Please note that I checked the wind forecast before and only had 4mph wind, which is low. This made paddling easier. If it had been a windy day I would have rented a kayak instead. Just one suggestions: you could provide waterproof bags or phone cases that you can wear around your neck for rental. I had to take my leather handbag and carry my phone with no protection, which made me a bit uneasy as there‘s always the possibility of falling in the water. As I was on holiday I did not have my normal kayaking gear with me. Other than that everything is great! I will be back with my family someday!💕

If you are a fan of water activities THIS is something you should really visit! Great for having some fun with your friends and check out some nice places in Copenhagen. Food is really nice but definitely not their strongest side.

Tried the greenKayak, very pleasant and fun experience, the only issue slots are always booked, to get a slot you need to book at least a month in advance.

Yelp
Loved this spot! A great little retreat in the busy city. I love that they offer free kayaks if you pick up trash - what a great idea! We came for drinks after touring the city. My go-to on this trip was the Aperol Spritz. We had a couple drinks and regained our energy to finish sightseeing. Great spot to take in the canal, people watch, relax and get some sun.

Yelp
The venue is great. A couple floating docks with chairs and a great view of the canal = total relaxation. Had a good time but prices and food left a lot to be desired. You order at one counter, with a queue that can vary in size. They quoted me 5-15 minutes and my food probably took 40 minutes. You pick it up from at orange food truck when the buzzer went off. The fries were tasty and hot but they gave me a minuscule amount of aioli for them. And the mussels were ice cold and flavorless. The beer was good however for the first round we had wine and it was the smallest glass of wine ever.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! Hope to go back some day, maybe when we retire to Copenhagen?

Yelp
While chillin in Copenhagen, Louis R loves to eat and drink on the water. Literally. This spot has what Louis R requires. Danish beers, mussels and fries serves on a pontoon platform. Watch all the tour boats pass by while you deliver into deliciousness. Be like Louis R, chill in Denmark.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot biking by - service was great and food was delicious. Without a doubt the best burger in town and very well priced. Fries that came with it were superb!! Prosecco on tap! Staff were inviting and excited to share their neighbourhood bar. Shawn the food manager great guy to chat with!

Yelp
In a word - sun, fun, cool people, awesome location and amazing food. Longer version (for the brave) - decided to spend a lazy day in Copenhagen and ended up here. And wow, this place... Is like, everything I needed. Hidden under one of the bridges, when the sun is shining with some good vibes! You can't ignore the cool music that is playing in the background, feels like you're somewhere else for a bit. And if you're too hot - just hop in the water! The bar and grill are just under the bridge but you can also sit right in the canal on an improvised beach and enjoy the views of kayaks and random boats as they pass by and sometimes wave at you, be social - wave back! The service is nice and the prices are not too high, we enjoyed a couple of beers in the sun and had to portions of amazing fries! Besides that, all the dishes that were served to the people around us were visually stunning (and also smelled great) If you want to pass a chilled lazy couple of hours, this is the place for sure!

Yelp
It was the opening of the kayak season. For a 3rd of april it was chilly but with the sun an the wet suit, it was such a great escape on the canal. A super way to see the city from the water. As long a you keep your right you are free! (Passing by the black diamond library and to the old part under the nice bridges..) The guide/teacher was so wonderful , patient and passionate. Kayak republic is use to have big groups. Great efficient team, lockers for every one- and at the end, there is even a sauna and a bar along the canal. I am really thinking of subscribing for the training to have all the tricks, and tondo more kayak right in the middle of copenhagen!

Yelp
This place has a great location! The outdoor seating is literally ON the canal - a platform floating on the water with a little sandy spot to the side where you can sit with a drink, listen to good music, and look at the canal. Came here for dinner while on a visit to Copenhagen after spotting the cute location a day earlier. We ordered the moules frites - our waitress told us it was enough for 2 people and she was right. You can slice as much bread as you like yourself from a communal area inside the main restaurant - which was delicious dipped in the mussel broth. The mussels were just ok and the fries were very good. We had 2 danish beers as well and the bill came to something around 25-30 USD. They accept credit cards. Service was pretty great.

hyggelig sted, var på besøg ifm. Copenhagen cooking med Kayak bar's Californian Seafood Party event.

Yelp
If you want a window on the youthful energy that is Copenhagen (and have some great food and beer while watching), try this place. It's a simple setup, with a beer stand, a short menu, and a row of picnic tables next to the harbor canal. On the beautiful day I was there, it was packed with laughing Danes in no hurry to leave. Kayaking is available but in no way required. The plate of roast pork I ate was incredibly flavorful, and the potatoes soaked up all the flavor I couldn't sop up with the bread. Food is expensive in Copenhagen, so find a place like Kayak Bar where you enjoy the scenery as much as the meal.

Yelp
Amazing place! Came here very hungry after a disappointing experience at "Fleisch" and ordered some fish, fries and a hot dog. The food came quick, was very good and well priced. The atmosphere is great, beautiful view over the water. We could sit there for hours!

Yelp
Didn't try the restaurant but had a great experience renting kayaks - great service from Freya and great value. Highly recommend making this one of your activities while visiting Copenhagen!

Yelp
Great spot to chill outside and have a beer with some friends. The covered heated area was a nice plus once it got chilly.

Yelp
This was a great place, with amazing food! We stumbled across it coincidentally, since we were very hungry, and sat down at a table on a platform. The weather was lovely, with a great view of the canal. We ordered open faced sandwiches and a side of fries - both very good. Overall this was a great place for lunch!
