Kedareswar Bed and Breakfast

It's a great location, on the ghat, with tremendous views of the Ganges. Rooms vary a lot in terms of price and qualities - we had 3 during our stay here. They are pretty basic, but interestingly furnished. You are paying a premium for the view and the fact that it's right in the heart of the alleys of the old town. There's a shared terrace overlooking the ghats, where you can watch the action below. You can order basic eggs and strange toast for breakfast on terrace. Second floor rooms also have a shared "private" balcony. The location also has its perils: the rooms on the alley side are right next to a temple that can be VERY noisy with bell ringing etc.

The hotel is perfectly located right on the Ganges. A good base for exploring the city. Beautiful view of the river from the roof terrace. It was nice to eat breakfast there and have a morning coffee. The service was very nice and helpful. They created a wonderful atmosphere and tried very hard. It was a shame to leave.

This was one of my favorite places to stay while traveling in India. Mintu and Pintu were incredibly helpful and accommodating. I felt safe as a female traveler and very welcome. The cleanliness was superb, probably one of the cleanest hotels that I saw in my two months of traveling. I stayed in the deluxe room with a friend, it didn’t have a view but looked to have been recently renovated and was very comfortable. Other bonuses, they helped arrange our airport taxi when we left, and served breakfast to order on the rooftop terrace. Overall it was a wonderful stay and I can’t recommend it enough for future guests.

I want to talk about a very serious problem happening here in this Hotel (Kedareswar Bread and Breakfast hotel near ChoukiGhat). I visited there on 12.02.2025 and stayed for 3 days. This place is run by a greedy, rude, ill mannered racist guy who has no respect for Indians. He loves to entertain foreigners only as according to him they have money. And the room costed high. According to the owner: 1. Foreigners give good tip to the hotel-boys. I don’t understand why the owner doesn’t pay well enough salary to the workers, so the hotel-boys don’t have to rely on the tips. 2. Foreigners are punctual. Because they come to Varanasi for relaxation. And according to the owner, they check-out early. So, if you are an Indian, you are definitely not punctual according to him. We visited Varanasi at Kumbh- Mela time & to visit Vishwanath we chose the night time because of less crowd and reached hotel around 2 at night. Because we came back late, the owner got offended as he was sleeping. The owners don’t like to listen to any request of you are an Indian. 3rd day we were forcefully shifted to a smelly room by the way. In our time of staying, we wanted to shift to a better hotel with better service and lesser price. The manager made a request to us not to leave and we kept that and we faced these situations. I request to you all whoever is reading my comments, *don’t stay at this hotel*. We were two women and they denied to help. Even when we asked for breakfast (even tea only), they ignored it completely, whereas, we saw they were putting the table for foreigners only. These people are racist. They don’t care what is your purpose or for what reason you came here, don’t expect help. There are other hotels just beside this place, go there. Less in price. Better in accommodation with better behaviour.

This is a family run business,The best place to stay in Varanasi. I truly love it. The staff is amazing, respectful, knowledgeable and the space is clean and well organized. Has a beautiful view of the Ganga river. I couldn’t recommend this more! |Paula

Visited from Trinidad and Tobago in January 2024.||Excellent stay. |The location in the Old varanasi on the Ghat makes it easy to experience the Ganga with from room view, or a walk on the Ghat. While amenities are basic, the staff are tireless and relentless in ensuring you feel welcome and comfortable. Special mention of Ashutosh and Vicky who were very welcoming. |Vicky can assist in getting you a boat for the Ganges at a competitive rate without the haggling hassle. ||Hot water is present. ||We were directed to have dinner at Suryoday, a small home cooked resterant and you can taste the love in the food and service. ||The warmth of the people here are want made this Varanasi special.

The best place to stay in Varanasi. If you want a little bit of peace with a nice view in Ganges river, then this is the place. The staff and the host are very polite and helpful giving you information about Varanasi.
