First time dining at Keegan's Seafood Grille and I have to tell you...it won't be my last!! We were seated immediately upon arrival which was very nice. Amanda was our server and did an excellent job between making menu suggestions and also let us know about the daily specials in which I wound up getting the Parmesan Panko Crusted Amberjack w/garlic mashed potatoes, broccoli & garlic bread!!! The food is so good from the entrees to the sides!!! We never had an empty glass as she was always making sure our drinks were full!! Atmosphere is very pleasant with nice decor, classic rock music playing and the entire restaurant smells amazing with the aromas of excellent food flowing from the kitchen!!! Highly recommend this place!!! I look forward to dining again as their menu has an amazing amount of food choices!!! Kudos to the kitchen staff as well for a spectacular job in all they do!!!

Was a nice day for sitting on a patio. Keegan’s was that patio today. Justin was our server! While, I had a burger, the star of today’s meal was the Jamaican Jerk Grouper Sandwich. It was blackened group, with a jerk sauce served on a toasted bun with lettuce/tomato/lemon wedge. (Fries were generous, Justin split the serving he had and brought us out more when they were ready). I loved how fresh the fish spread was, it was just enough to be an appetizer! The flavor was light and refreshing!!

Excited to come. Arrived earlier than usual around 4:30p. 1 other person in there. Sat us in the middle. No one acknowledged, however many team members passed us without batting an eye. Got up and went to Groupers. We win. Our meals were excellent. Food pic is from Groupers.

10/10 Garlic Scampi Linguini! I ordered the garlic scampi linguini and it was absolutely perfect—flavorful, buttery, and cooked to perfection. The shrimp were tender and seasoned just right, and the garlic sauce had the perfect balance without being overpowering. Highly recommend this dish if you’re a seafood lover. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
A real gem of a place. The prices were really remarkable, especially the beer. I was also awarded a 10% discount for showing my British Military ID. The only disappointment (which doesn't warrant a loss of star) were the two young girls who were working there. They were just hanging out talking, paying zero attention to the diners. When we asked them if we could get a beer, they just said the server would be with us shortly ans then continued their conversation. The least I would have expected would have been for them to go and get our server. These were youngsters, so we can give them a pass :) All in all, go visit, we'll worth it. If you are reading this review, why not give me a follow :)

Google
The blackened octopus was phenomenal. All of our food was really good. The gator, oyster Rockefeller, and the amberjack fish were also good.

Google
Tucked away in the back reaches of a nondescript strip mall, the seafood haven is an institution that has stood the test of time and mother nature. Keegans is always good for a delicious soup, sandwich, or seafood delight. Most recently I ate the grouper sandwich which did not disappoint in the least. The key though is the key lime pie made with ritz crackers as the crust. It is a unique take and a must try!

Google
Best food in Indian rocks, We discovered this spot in 2019 and it was delicious now 6 years later on our trip to Florida we came back for part 2. It was good we got sat inside and ordered some appetizers the gator nuggets where chewy but tasty and the calamari was also nice but not my favorite. My dish was the grouper sandwich which was delectable. Seriously if you come to Indian rocks go here only down side was they got rid of the diners, driveins, and dives. Plack that said Guy Fieri was here.

Yelp
Great deal dinner tonight at Keegan's. Ann and the rest of the crew took great care of us. The food was good, especially the tuxedo bomb cake. The place looks great and I was happy to be back.

Yelp
The service was excellent. She was spot on and I didn't have to ask for anything. The grouper sandwich was served with a variety of options, but I chose the pasta salad for mine. The whole thing was tasty and I ate every bite. Great location as well. Indian rocks Beach in the speed limit is only 30 miles an hour. Great for ease of getting in and out. Hey, next time families in town, we might have to take them here.

Yelp
Got a to go order, it was wrong. Had to drive back it was cold by the time I got home. Ordered steak medium or was rare. Asked for no salt, there was salt. Eat in if you can, that was a better experience.

Yelp
Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2007. #DDD This place falls into the diner category and one should set one's expectations accordingly. The ambiance is typical diner. The food is good. Nothing fancy just well prepared. I had blackened Mahi-mahi, corn on the cob and fries. The Clearwater / St. Petersberg has a lot of resorts and fancy hotels so the availability of reasonably priced seafood is a nice addition.

Marina L.

Yelp
I had eaten at Keegan's a few times in 2020/21 and I remembered it as excellent. This time was OK at best. The lobster tail was over cooked, the octopus was under chargrilled (virtually just boiled), the pasta salad side was over done (ever heard of al dente?), the garlic bread was mushy instead of crispy grilled. The only perfect thing were the French fries, but we don't go to a fish restaurant for their French fries. It wasn't so busy to screw up these easy plates so I guess this is their new cooking style. Not going back.

Yelp
This little diner packs a big punch! Don't let the no frills ambience scare you off. The seafood is local and fresh. The service is great. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Definitely try the char boiled octopus appetizer if you fancy tentacles. They do have a bar. Expect a wait during peak times. We love this mom and pop seafood diner on IRB.

Yelp
Service was good, very small off the beach location. Feels like seafood place. Fresh fish and fairly good priced drinks

Yelp
2024...Jan. Had to stop by our most frequented TripleD location once again for the classic old school ambiance and of course the CharGrilled Octopus...met an old school buddy and his son there as well. Good times! The Octopus was as flavorful as always and cooked to perfection! Service was friendly and fast..couldn't ask for anything better.

Yelp
Waited less than five minutes to seat and quick service. My wife had the crab cakes it was loaded with crab meat, my little one had the grouper bites and I had the blackened mahi-mahi. I do not recommend the cracked conch, it had that sugar taste and it was more breading than conch. Our server was very nice.

Yelp
My companion and I decided to try Keegan's after about a one year absence. We are certainly glad we came back. The restaurant is plain Jane on the inside, but the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the food flavorful. The fish tanks in the wall are a nice touch. You can sit inside or outside, we chose the inside instead of out by the parking lot. Our waiter came right over, took our drink order and explained the day's specials. I decided to go with the Blackened Swordfish special while my companion ordered the Blackened Grouper, extra blackened. I also decided to get a cup of the she crab soup while she ordered the Caesar salad. The she crab lived up to my memories and was very creamy, tasty and crab filled. It even had a slight taste of Sherry. My companion's Caesar salad was also very tasty with a traditional Caesar dressing. Our entrées arrived fairly quickly, and were extremely tasty. The blackened grouper is very well done and it is a large portion. The side of Brussels, however, would have been better. Had they been roasted instead of boiled. The ear of corn with my entree was very tasty and they gave me more than enough butter. The pasta salad was serviceable, but nothing special. The blackened swordfish, however, was very good with a wonderful flavor. The chef really knows how to bring cook fish and brings the blackened flavoring. The portions were very generous and left no room for dessert. The prices are fair and this restaurant is back in our rotation.

Yelp
Keegan's quite possibly could be the best seafood in Florida...Fresh and delicious....service was great...

Cheri G.

Yelp
Best Fresh fish around! Not fancy, but a very good value. Generous portions. And a bar!

Yelp
Crab Cakes, Coconut Shrimp, She Crab Soup. All were delicious. The sides, coleslaw and pasta salad were a light and refreshing treat. Love the atmosphere and decor.

Yelp
Ate there today. Service was good. Food excellent. Had some of the best oysters on half shell we have ever been served. The soft shell crab was delicious and the grouper was very good. We went early and were served quickly. Got their house made key lime pie to go! They serve wine and beer only. Highly recommend for casual dining.

Yelp
The last time I reviewed Keegan's was 4 years ago. I said I would never go back; it was so bad. But since the reviews of late seemed to be positive, I finally decided to give it another try. Well... It WAS better, but still sub-par. Service was Excellent. Just about every item our party of 3 ordered was overcooked: Mahi Mahi (DRY), grilled shrimp (tough), chicken tenders, (dry) calimari (rubbery), fries, garlic bread. I wish it had been different, as we live close by. Oh well, onward & upward!

Michael C.

Yelp
The place was nice and casual, the food was great, the service was great, and I don't think I have ever been to a place that is more reasonably priced in the entire state. Especially considering what you get for the money. We will be back.

Yelp
Great beachside spot for casual dining in Indian Rocks Beach. Stopped in for a late lunch after spending the morning on the beach. It's a casual beachside spot, so swimsuits and flipflops are OK. We opted to sit at one of 8 outside tables, so didn't get a take on the inside. Service is quick, accurate and fun. Thanks to Suzi for taking great care of us with a smile, quick sense of humor and professional ease. Tried a couple of classics - blackened grouper sandwich and mahi tacos. Grouper is a nice-sized filet. Grilled and blackened to perfection - crisp on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. Seasoned just right - to accentuate the sweet, firm fish but not overpower. Served on a roll with lettuce and tomato and tartar sauce. With a small bowl of creamy, slightly sweet slaw. Mahi tacos (2 to the order) feature filets of grilled mahi, over a bed of shredded lettuce pico de gallo, a sprinkle of cheese and a sour cream sauce. Super fresh, light and tasty. This is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner after some beach time.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. Fish is available a number of ways - grilled, blackened, fried. Love this place!

Yelp
We had never tried Keegan's. But our friends who have been going for years, took us for our first time and we loved it had the grouper sandwich conch ceviche and broiled octopus.. Because we love the place so much the following weekend we took some of our other friends who had never discovered the place even though they lived in Redington Shores. I had fried oyster Poboy, which was probably the best one I've ever had in all my years of ordering them, my wife had a delicious lobster roll, which was the special that day. We also got the broiled octopus and Bayou gator as our appetizers both were equally delicious. I highly recommend eating here. Everything we had in our two visits was outstanding!!!

Yelp
Fresh. Fresh seafood. Grouper.. crab.. conch. eat outside with a cold beer. Good for families.. lunch dinner, I'd eat here everyday if i could.

Yelp
Quick seating, friendly staff. A lot of locals in this establishment. Fun fact the manager of Keegans was the manager of Frenchy's. I like my crab cake meal. I don't recommend the cracked conch. It did not look like there were conch in it.

Yelp
We had to go it was on Guys list! About an hour drive from Tampa this cute little beach spot serves fresh seafood including alligator! My friend ordered crab cakes and she really enjoyed it although she said it was a little over cooked. I ordered the grouper bites and they were cooked just perfect crunchy on the outside and flaky fish on the inside. I also got coleslaw and it was pretty good vinegar base is not my personal favorite. We also order fried zucchini it was soggy. We had a great bartender and she suggested we do key lime pie it was great, sorry I didn't get. picture. One thing I want to mention is it is not on the water, more like on the main street in residential area, not that there is anything wrong with it but I thought from pics it was going to be beachfront. My bad. They say it gets really busy at dinner so get there early.

Yelp
They have good food, service and a nothing fancy atmosphere. Easy to get to, simple menu. Casual yet comfortable if coming from the beach or a quick bite.

Yelp
Uhm...we all had a cup of she crab soup and it was delicious. Everything else ... not as great as I hoped. Blackened grouper good - be mindful, as it is very spicy.

Yelp
Food was fabulous. Service was exceptional. Cute inside and out! Staff was really helpful with answers. He made sure we had everything we needed at all times

Yelp
First time visitor. Got take out. Our party dined on three orders of fish and chips and one order of Parmesan crusted grouper. The fish and chips came with fries, three pieces of fish, slaw and two hush puppies. A very hearty lunch. The fish could have used more seasoning. In contrast, the puppies were pleasantly spicy! The Parmesan crusted grouper sandwich was fine. It also came with fries. Would have preferred a baked potato or veggies side option. We got take out around 12:30p on a Sunday. Food was ready in 15 min. Dining room wasn't full. They have inside and outside dining. Bar has TVs for sports fans. I'd def return when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Been heading down from IL for several years to the area & just have not stopped by for here til this trip... yes, it's a DDD stop & Guy's foto hangs right in the bar! Even on a February Thursday eve it was a bit of a wait but only 20 min ... we were delighted with food, seating was fine but especially the service (John said he was new but a seasoned server). Although they were busy .. food was perfect -- actually excellent & served hot and we were checked on often! I was not really happy with my first wine & John happily switch for another. No worries here - you will see again!

Yelp
Favorite place on the beach! Best mahi sandwich around. Always excellent service! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Party of four on a Friday night and had a very short wait. Tried the chargrilled octopus which was our first time eating octopus. It was delicious. We also had a shrimp po'boy which was super filling and tasted great. The veggie pasta was really good with fresh vegetables including broccolini. The mahi mahi sandwich was well prepared with a great fresh roll. Soft shell crabs were also tasty. Most impressive was the service and we were especially impressed with how seriously the staff took our allergy. Our best meal of vacation.

Yelp
Excellent seafood restaurant!! Excellent food service and ambience. Even if you have to wait for a table, they have a small bar available. Indoor outdoor seating is also available. Every time we go there we have not been disappointed. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Not much of an ambiance and it was hard to find parking. Restaurant is BUSY! Having said that our Service was very good! We sat at the bar to eat in order to get our food quicker. The staff bust their butt and the Mgr. came around several times to check on everything . Food was very good. We got the stone crab claws which were really good and reasonably priced. We will definitely go back!

Amanda R.

Yelp
For a little dive in the wall place the food was amazing!! Will be back! Highly recommend the the Parmesan Mahi:)

Yelp
A very busy corner in an otherwise not very busy plaza. Parking is difficult because of how little parking there is, as it's across from the beach. I went here for a late birthday dinner with my boyfriend and Dad. It was a Thursday evening with a 35+ minute wait. Granted the building is bigger than it looks but still can only accommodate so many. We waited and they have benches outside to sit and it went by fairly quick. Once seated we got our drinks and our server ( who's name I forgotten) made the experience a bit more personable than usually, which truly bumped this rating to 5 stars. I ordered a grouper sandwich while the others ordered a Blue corn crusted Wahoo fillet. I was genuinely shocked because my boyfriend up to this point has refused to eat fish in this manner because of how it always tastes fishy and doesn't like the texture. We got our food and everyone took their first bite. Let's say that his mind changed very quickly about fish from that point on. He ate almost all of it and said "if everyone serves me fish like this then I'm a fish guy". My father finished all of it and is the one who recommended we eat here. I love grouper and this sandwich, albeit could've used a little more salt, was delicious regardless. Grouper is a fish that almost doesn't need anything added. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. She just had a personality that was caring. We were never less than half way full on our drinks and her recommendations to us really helped out.

Yelp
Everything went great. The food is always excellent. We think it is the best fish in IRB. The service is very friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Freaking delicious and great staff!! Nice relaxed place to take the family. I highly recommend. Fun fact- they were on Diner, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy.

Yelp
Great seafood sandwiches!! One of the best places in the Indian Rocks area. Would recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
We tried this based on a recommendation from someone we know. The best thing on the table that night were the crab cakes. The grouper bites were second. My blackened grouper sandwich was extremely dry. I had to put my slaw on the sandwich to make it edible. One daughter ordered a cheeseburger off the kids menu and it was not good. She loves cheeseburgers and immediately knew this wasn't one she'd enjoy. She barely at any and can normally take one down with no issues. It appeared to just be a frozen patty. Over cooked for sure. My wife enjoyed her Parmesan crusted fish sandwich but it was very salty. Again, the crab cakes were the best thing we had. Our waitress was nice but didn't stop by often. At one point 4 out of the 6 drinks on our table were empty. Not good when your sandwich was a dry as it was. Little price for average to below average food. We probably will not return.
google avatar

Yelp
Keegan's continues to be a staple when we visit the Clearwater area! They offer so many delicious dishes. I try to mix it up each time we visit but I keep going back to their famous blackened grouper and every time it's better than the last!!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
We were in town for the day and my friend who lives locally suggested,...swore, we had to try Keegans for the best lobster roll in IRB so we swung by and......they discontinued the lobster roll. Huge let down
google avatar

Mel G.

Yelp
Amazing food and service... nice AC on the inside- right across from Indian Rocks Beach... Crab legs were so sweet and perfect. Also had the cracked conch- not what I had expected - I was thinking the long, conch leg type fritter, and this was a delectable alternative that was lightly battered and so beautifully cooked for fried food :-) so fresh!
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
The service was fantastic! The lady we had was very nice and accommodating for our large party. The restaurant and atmosphere was very nice. The food was above average but not great. We had a big party so maybe that had something to do with it. The Grouper sandwich was mid but maybe I could have gotten it prepared differently. I would give it a second chance. So I would recommend.

Yelp
Great soft shell crabs and octopus that's grilled. One of my favorite places to eat at the beach. John waited on me and he was super!!

Yelp
Truly the best seafood I have had in a long time. Service was quick and friendly. Food was on point. I got crab and it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Save yourself - don't go here. Food is gross. The only edible thing was the 'She Crab' soup. If you're from the northeast like we are you'll be ridiculously disappointed in each dish. Soup was cold, served us the wrong beer, forgot to give us the check but certainly had no problem rushing to clear the plates from our table.... Waitress was a veteran who has lost her touch. She's clearly tired of the place and needs to give up the gig. Trust me, the food was bad, but the wait staff really ruined the experience. They were frequently having conversations over our tables to one another. We were seated right by the door (unlucky) but they kept leaving the door wide open (it's 40 degrees outside). Won't be back!!!!
google avatar

Brittney B.

Yelp
I saw it online as a Diners, Drive-in and Dives spot and I knew I had to try it. I was NOT disappointed! Everything we ordered was delicious. We were seated quickly and our server was quick and thorough. The decor is beachy and relaxed. My friend and I had the she crab soup, seared ahi Tuna, buffalo shrimp, and the Blackened grouper with fries and a garden salad. The crab soup was creamy, smooth and had a good amount of crab. The ahi tuna was served with wasabi sauce and soy sauce. It was cooked perfectly and was fresh and delicious. The Buffalo shrimp were cooked perfectly, savory and the perfect amount of spice. The fish was savory and well cooked. The salad was fresh and even though the fries didn't look like anything special they were hot, crispy and delicious. I would definitely eat here again and try other menu items. Rating from F to A+++ I give it an A+++.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this restaurant for many a year. It was featured on Diners, Drive-inns, and Dives several years ago. The restaurant itself is rather on the smallerside, they also seat a few tables outside. Everything seems very "tight" and crowded inside. We came on a Friday evening about 5:45 pm, we had a 35 min wait to be seated. Our server was Kathryn, who was very efficient and answered all our questions. We started with an appetizer of calamari with a very mild marinara sauce. The calamari cooked fine but was rather blah. Next came the she crab soup, got to say this was not good. it tasted sour to us. We told our server Kathryn and she graciously took it off our bill. I ordered a blackened grouper sandwich, it came with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. I chose fries to accompany my sandwich. The fries were awful, barely warm, tasted old. The grouper was heavily blacked which was fine with me, it was a decent size fish. Tasted good. My Bride had seafood linguine, which she found enjoyable. Not great, just OK. I think we're one and done for this Dive restaurant.

Yelp
Went there for the first time and I got the coconut shrimp along with the she crab soup. My wife got the lobster. Food was great and the server was on the ball! I will go back to this place for sure!!!

Yelp
If you haven't read the other reviews, yes -Keegan's has been on Triple D so there will be lines and some looky-loos from that. Make a reservation and try to hit it on a weeknight to minimize crowds. Casual dress so you fit in. This is a small place, essentially two rooms, so don't expect a lot of ambiance. The bar is maybe 5 stools wide and right on top on the eating area. Over appetizers, we enjoyed listening to the older drunk couple have a domestic argument and then make up again - awwwww. Tables are very close. There is outdoor seating but this faces West and in summer will flash-fry you until the sun gets below the beachfront condos around 8pm so be warned. Service is fast, usually college kids in the summer and if they forget a drink just reach over to the bar from your table. Menu is large and like many seafood places nearby, talks Grouper in many forms. Fried grouper sandwich was large, fresh and very good served with fries. We tried the chowder, she-crab and gumbo soups. Chowder was New England style tomato based and the best of the bunch followed by good spiced gumbo and a crab that could have used more cream. Being a Carolinas beach guy l went for half pound of boiled shrimp. These were large pinks, fresh and well cooked - not mealy. They could have used 2tbsps more of Old Bay but were very good. Got a lump crab cake to accompany. Probably the best on this beach. Large, real crab and good crust. Cocktail sauce was properly horseradished and zingy. Beers are cheap and cold. Fieri visit aside, this place has a good SC Calabash-vibe - overall was a good experience and pretty easy on the wallet versus other MP places nearby. Definitely my favorite casual seafood joint in this area.

Yelp
Loved everything about this restaurant! Food was amazing, made in house and fresh! Server was sassy and helpful.
