The staff at Keiraleagh House are friendly and the general atmosphere is good, but I was disappointed with the private room we were assigned. Our room was located right by the main entrance and front porch, which felt like it was outside the main living area. The booking didn't mention the room was separated from the main house facilities. Because of this, we had to leave our room, unlock the main front door, and go upstairs every time we needed to use the shared bathroom or the shower. It was quite inconvenient and felt like we were staying in a converted reception room rather than a standard bedroom.
Being so close to the entrance also meant a lot of noise from other guests chatting on the porch and coming in and out at all hours. While the rest of the hostel is well-maintained and the location is handy, the layout of this particular room lacked the privacy and ease of access I expected for a private room. We also noticed some of the windows didn't have locks, which isn't ideal for a room accessible from the front porch. It’s a good place overall, but I’d recommend checking that your room is actually inside the main building.
