This is somewhere to connect with nature and the outdoors, without sacrificing comfort and good food! We - 3 generations including children/young people aged 6 to 18 - had a two night stay. The setting was idyllic - remote and peaceful with the river and waterfall, and the occasional oystercatcher, as our soundtrack . Great base for walking, exploring the river, and generally relaxing amid the wonderful scenery and wildlife of the Upper Swale valley. The yurts are very well equipped, surprisingly spacious, and warm (wood burner if needed). Each one has a fire pit and an efficient barbecue outside, which we made use of for one evening meal. For the other we had Julia and Jim's home cooked meals, which were absolutely delicious, and generous portions too. Breakfasts also supplied! The camping barn provided self catering facilities on a larger scale if needed. Each yurt has its own private shower & toilet. There was plenty of outdoor space round the yurts for the kids to play. Julia and Jim were really welcoming, helpful, and friendly, and responded so kindly to our questions and requests! We had a wonderful stay and will treasure the memories. Don't expect a mobile phone signal (that's part of the peace and remoteness) but there is wifi available in the barn if you must!

Amazing stay at swaledale yurts. Me and a friend arrived here hoping for a place to stay as the local campsite was flooded out. We had a great time. Jim and Julie run a great site here. The yurt was huge and with the fire on very very warm. They sell food and alcohol here as well at very reasonable prices. I would come back again!

We were lucky enough to have this trip offered to us and didn’t really know what to expect. |What a find! |We staying in a lovely cosy yurt. There were three of us and we had the best time from the second we arrived. |The hosts were amazing and could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. |We were disappointed that we had booked food for the first night once it arrived as we knew we should have booked EVERY meal whilst we were there! It was fantastic! Delivered to the door, pipping hot and tasted amazing! The porridge for breakfast is also well worth a try. |Hot tub…. Spotless, cosy and simply the best view ever|Wild swimming on your doorstep|Spotlessly clean toilets and showers|Very reasonably priced drinks too|Accidentally broke a glass after sampling the afore mentioned reasonably priced red wine, no additional charge or drama. |Can’t wait to return |Your hospitality was outstanding |thank you

Better than I anticipated. The hosts were fantastic. We ordered one of their breakfasts for our last day which was delivered to the door. The yurt was qwerky but amazing and really comfortable. But the best thing was their own private waterfall to swim at. Definitely want to go again

What a lovely little corner of Yorkshire!!! ||We came as a family of 12 which included 4 children ranging 18 months to 12 years old and we had 3 yurts. From when I booked the break in dec the hosts were so helpful and hospitable!! The weather wasn’t that kind to us but we made the most of it and headed out daily to some spectacular places!! ||The yurts were spacious yet cozy ( each had fire wood free to use daily, hot water bottles and tea and coffee facilities) we also had full use of the kitchen dining area which was very useful especially in the rain!! |Each yurt had a bbq which we used most days and the hot tub was a huge hit with the kids!! ||All in all a very memorable holiday and would definitely recommend swale yurts, excellent hosts! An absolute little gem!

Amazing place. Julia and Jim are excellent hosts. Rainby falls is a superb swim spot for those who can navigate the steps and rocks to get in. The Yurts have access to a barn for cooking and eating that is separate from the bunk barn.

The yurts are very comfortable and clean in a beautiful river valley. We stayed one night on Coast to Coast walk. There is a private bathroom with shower for each yurt located just the other side of the driveway Hosts are very accommodating. There is also a separate basic cooking facility with tables for preparing your own food

Our first experience of Yurts, and Jim and Julia have certainly set the bar high. These five Yurts (only 400 m outside Keld) are reasonably spaced. It’s an advantage to have a private bathroom. They are padded so sound proofed as well as insulated. |Everything is thought of, including fairy lights, woolly hot water bottles, eye masks, fans, fridge with fresh milk. |There is a well equipped barn with fridge freezer, microwave, kettle hot plate if you want to be self catering. |We opted for cottage pie with leeks for evening meal. It was delicious and filling. |Breakfast was a bacon and egg baguette, with a good value lunch box for £8. |There’s a great pool for a wild swim. Swimsuits available, but we weren’t brave enough. |Would love to return.
