Kelimutu National Park

November 29. 2024. The park is open again from 5am - 5pm. I would still recommend going in the morning as the fog comes later in the day. We were there at 8am and the fog began at 8.30am. When you walk up your throat will itch and you will maybe cough from the sulphur. So maybe bring a mask? I don’t know if that helps. Entry is 150k for foreigners and 5k for domestic tourists. The view is stunning. Kelimutu, the vulcano of spirits.

During April 2025, the ticketing gate opens at 4am. It takes around 20 mins to reacht the top and sunrise is around 6am. I recomment to wear jacket because it is a bit windy on the top. The view is stunning! Very recommended.

Feeling sad, it wasn't my day. I tried to visit the place for two days, First day we weren't aware of their new operating hours since the end of May 2024, which are from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM (gate open and close), and you must leave by 12:00 PM. On the first day, we arrived at 11:30 AM, only to find it closed. On the second day, June 6, 2024, it rained all day with heavy fog. Despite the weather, we attempted to reach the crater, but the rain obscured our view. This might be a once-in-a-lifetime visit for me, so I gave it my best effort. The path to the crater is easy to walk and not too steep. The weather is cold, so it's important to check the forecast beforehand. Good luck! However, I was very impressed with the people here; they welcomed us warmly, especially the students at the gate who were selling tickets. We hiked up this extraordinary volcano early in the morning. Unfortunately, the clouds didn't clear, I'm not sure if it would've made a different if we had visited a bit later in the morning? It gets quite cold up there when you wait for the sunrise. The hike up there is actually very doable and wasn't steep or difficult. I hope they preserve the nature the way it is. This is truly a unique place!

It is not easy and expensive to get here, the entrance fee is also expensive, but it is worth it! If you're already here, you shouldn't miss it! We went up from Ende, it was a bit far, 1 hour 40 minutes by car. We didn't go in the morning, but during the day. It was warm, but there were no monkeys in return. On the way back to the parking lot, buy a few drinks, it's not cold, but it means a lot to them! The drive up is also wonderful, the nature is very beautiful. Before arriving, there is a local vegetable market on the roadside, buy some Salak from the locals, they will be very happy.

This is the must visit place at Flores Island. Experiencing the sunrise with these beautiful lakes is a treat to the eyes. These 3 lakes keep changing the colours because of the chemical activity. From Moni village there is 20 mins drive till the trek point. The Trek is very small and simple. It takes 20 - 25 mins to reach the highest point to view all 3 lakes.

It was not such a long hike but the view is incredible. It is easy to climb up there but you better prepare a mask to cover your face from sulfur smell. You should hike before sunrise and watch sunrise up there.

We went before the sunrise to see the sunrise on the lakes. Weirdly there were already many people but it wasn't chaos. View was beautiful, colours of the sunrise very bright. Worth it 100%. Beware of the guides that want to bring you up there. Bargain the cost of you want their help. Don't give more than 100k rupias really!!!
