The location of this hotel is excellent, in relation to DC. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice. My rating is lower because there was a surprise $50 parking charge. The rate for parking is outrageous and the charge was not mentioned at check-in or during the booking process. It was not until the bill arrived, that the charge was seen. On top of that, parking is a good 8 minute walk away. There is absolutely no reason it should cost. The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms were ok, but definitely clean. The pillows are tiny. i would recommend at least 4 per bed.

The Kellogg hosts a yearly event that I attend for approx 100 people. They are consistently able to execute a weeks worth of breakfasts, snacks, hotel and meeting accommodations as well as provide outstanding service. The texting communication with the front desk means quick access to towels, restaurant recommendations and more. Staff is all smiles and ready to help. Thanks again!

Came for a work event. Checkin was easy thanks to Joel, and the center was enjoyable. Our food was very good with a large variety for all to enjoy and our room was clean tho small, no fridge, with a bit of thin walls- next room was partying pretty good. Would definitely go back. Lots to do around n the area around MSU.

We stayed at the Kellogg Hotel the weekend of the MSU/ u of M basketball game. The whole experience was great! I believe the restaurant should have a more varied menu, with different pricing. The service wasn’t great!

Went here for a business meeting and dinner. Good food, good service. Great location in Lansing. I did not stay at the hotel, so I have no comments for that.

The Bed was extremely uncomfortable! The mattress was extra Firm, not to my liking. The Room was Very Clean and Dated! The staff was amazing, friendly and Professional. Location was perfect for going to MSU Graduation Ceremony. Walking distance to Breslin Center! Wish the parking was free, but we had to pay $15.00.

I attended this place for an event. The parking was very confusing. In an effort to try to simplify things they made the parking even more confusing when attending events. I was told by staff that, hopefully you don't have a ticket on your car..... I was supposed to scan some QR code that their office did not have a copy of and was unfortunately thrown away. The lack of empathy or care from the staff was very disheartening and a lack of communication between the staff and the event coordinator and having copies of QR codes needed to exit the parking structure should have been more buttoned up. I traveled over an hour to attend this event and so I wasn't expecting this sort of experience or service. The actual establishment is very beautiful. The conference rooms were well maintained and clean. The restaurant is also very well-maintained. The restrooms were very clean and well maintained. Access from the parking garage into the establishment was easy to find. There are a few areas of opportunity to improve their customer service and processes.

I attended an MSU a Innovation event and the parking was convenient and the signage related to the event as well as check-in for the event was well run. The event was done very well and showcased a few interesting projects.

Yelp
This hotel is very close to the campus for easy access when visiting family and friends. There is a complimentary continental breakfast every morning, along with a small Starbucks cafe near the front lobby. They also have a restaurant called the State Room located on the inside as well.

Lindsey K.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and meeting center. Definitely a lot that has hosted plenty of fancy business meetings and events. They also have a bar and restaurant. Always a good venue for events I've been to.

Bob D.

Yelp
I stayed here last week for a conference. Very disappointing. I've been going here for over two decades. It was disappointing that during covid, they stopped their free airport shuttle service & haven't resumed it since then. Couldn't get the TV to work, even after two guys came up & tried to fix it. The BIGGEST problem, though, was that the State Room restaurant was closed, due to Memorial Day weekend. Closed for the holiday?! This is not a mom-&-pop little business; it's a full-scale hotel!

Karen F.

Yelp
Great hotel with a great location!!!! Request a tub room to avoid the odd shower situation though.

Lara M.

Yelp
Stayed here for college dropoff. Plenty of parking available (parking garage is apparently called a 'ramp' in MI.) Quick check in. Students ran the front desk and were very capable and friendly and helped other families with advice about MSU. Room was clean and a lot of attention was paid to the small details - hairdryer, check. Shampoos, body wash, etc check. European style shower which is fine once you get used to it. Room is small and had two double beds. Staff texted to make sure we were settled in ok and had everything we needed. There is a restaurant on site but we arrived too late and left too early to eat there. Complimentary pastries from MSU bakery with fresh fruit, coffee and tea in the morning. Located right on the edge of campus. I give five stars for the excellent staff, cleanliness and location.

Judi W.

Yelp
This hotel is a gem with lovely food the glitch is when you make your reservation ask for a tub room and a king bed. That way you don't get a European shower. The manager is extremely nice and tries to make your stay as comfortable as you like. The gift shop has yummy coffee and pastries. It is on the river and a lovely view of campus.

Maya C.

Yelp
I have attended three professional conferences here and each time has been well-executed. Comfortable and user-friendly surroundings, water with glasses at the table, generous continental breakfast, tasty lunch with decent portions and nice desserts. The afternoon breaks have fresh-baked cookies and other snacks as well. This is important for large groups, the bathrooms are plentiful and clean. There are many areas to relax during breaks and they have a nice Spartan spirit gift shop for a little shopping diversion. I did stay at the hotel and it was interesting. The bed was very comfortable. The room was smaller, but had everything one would need. The odd thing was the bathroom, with a non-designated shower area. The "open-stall" concept. So, the water went everywhere. I didn't like that, but the rest of the stay was enjoyable. One last note, the State room is a must-do!! Great experience, delicious and excellent service. Lots of libations as well and an extensive wine list. Their menu changes, so there is always something new to try.

Dan D.

Yelp
This hotel was not prepared for graduation weekend. Sunday morning they ran out of food and coffee so definitely make other plans for breakfast. Very small room, even smaller bathroom. Boat size if you've ever sailed. It makes sense to look at the newer hotels off campus.

Loletha D.

Yelp
Beautiful clean hotel and delicious food at an affordable price. All staff including service employees were incredibly helpful. The only thing I had to adjust to was the parking garage... Don't get me wrong it was well lit and convenient to the hotel entrance, it just took some getting used to. Side note: A little birdie told me that during basketball/football season the hotel prices skyrocket!

Fred S.

Yelp
I always thought this was such a nice hotel and always wanted to stay here. The lobby is really nice and the location is great. We booked a luxury king room and thought we'd have a great experience. But the bathroom is frankly substandard. There is no rob or shower enclosure. Just a drain in the floor in one corner and a shower curtain. The water gets all over the floor. The bathroom is also very small. I'll never come back.

Anonymous A.

Yelp
Beautiful space and conference center, helpful front desk staff, but INCREDIBLY rude janitorial staff. No "restroom closed" signs (only "caution wet floor"). When I entered the restroom the janitor began shouting "UH UH! UH UH! STEP OUT, STEP OUT, STEP OUT. YOU CANNOT BE IN HERE WHILE WE IN HERE! UH UH! STEP OUT!" Giving me lots rude "mmhmmm" responses. Perhaps a "restroom closed" sign out be prudent so guests know not to use a restroom. Simply having a cart and a "caution wet floor" sign doesn't signal that a space is closed. I do know Kellogg Center hires people with intellectual disabilities at times so perhaps this contributed, however when ALL staff isn't properly trained, is unprofessional and combative it really puts a bad flavor on an entire experience.

Wolf O.

Yelp
Let's not kid ourselves. Kellogg is closer to four stars for the area, perhaps the best in town when you're visiting MSU. Overall, the hotel is decent but not great. Since you aren't going anywhere else, I'll familiarize you with its basics. The decor appears to be upscale 80s, which felt really weird but I came to appreciate its kitsch. (Exhibit A: the hideous logo.) The rooms are somewhat tight and no frills--no modern amenities other than a flat screen TV. Everything is worn and old-looking, showing more of a need for renovation than charm. The bathroom is kind of nice: fancy basin sink, European shower (drain on bathroom floor, drag curtain to partition room, kind of messy), powerful toilet, high-quality towels, but my favorite was the blood orange-scented soap. Yeah, the soap was just really memorable. The heat didn't really work. The thermostat was strange and didn't correlate with reality. The room was still chilly even with the heat all the way up. (Winter is cold in East Lansing.) I could hear just about everything in the hallway. The doors are really thick, but I don't know what's up with the acoustics. The rooms come to just under $100 including the $5 daily Internet/coffee tax. (I don't know why it isn't just included.) Checkout by noon. Wi-Fi is MSU guest access, decent. I didn't try the restaurant, but I heard it was better than the area food. The service was meh, kind of cold. Don't forget about their free airport service if you're flying into the (equally abominable) Lansing airport. To reiterate: you likely don't have another option in town. Kellogg's good for affairs and a place to sleep while at MSU, but this said, it could really use some competition when compared to the rest of America.

Yelp
I've stayed in both a suite and a regular room. I've also stayed in my fair share of hotels in East Lansing (Marriott, Gatehouse, Hampton Inn). As a whole, this is a hit or miss, but I'm only more partial to it because it's synonymous with MSU since it's the only one on campus. While the staff is incredibly friendly, I had an issue when I tried to check up on my reservation and see whether I could check in early. I just called the number on the website, and the woman, whose first language is not English had an extremely difficult time understanding my request and could not understand the name and letters I dictated to her. It probably didn't help that I couldn't understand her either. It was beyond frustrating because the woman had told me to call two hours later to check on the room again, and when I did call, it's like she had no clue what I was talking about. Anyway, once I got to the hotel, the front desk took care of me. They also gave me a tiny tube of toothpaste, which I had forgotten to pack and was only asking whether the shop was still open so I could buy some (it wasn't). The Internet was extremely inconsistent, the TV channels were mostly fuzzy. The regular room's bathroom is "European" (I didn't know that until I read the reviews) aka not anyone's style. I did appreciate the coffee setup. It's a coffee pod so you just add water. There's also plastic packages of sugar, creamer, napkin and a stirrer, which is helpful/thoughtful to taking it on the road. The suite room comes with an added jacuzzi, two big beds and a pullout couch, a mini fridge and a sink. I was lazy and ordered room service (decent but pricey, and they tack on a delivery charge), but my advice is to go across the street to Brody Hall, where you can have a decent college caf food, buffet style, for way cheaper.

Yelp
Try to find a place between Detroit and Grand Rapids, that can handle 250 people. This is a good sized hotel with a decent conference space. I attend a vendor conference at the Kellogg center. It was a bigger conference, and we were spread out across the entire main floor. It was a full day conference, breakfast thru evening events. Positives includes the facilities and food. Negatives include limited signage and parking issues - one attendant exiting caused me to wait 20 minutes just to get out of the parking garage. So I should have left early.

Carolyn E.

Yelp
The rooms are a bit small, but clean and modern, and everything was in working order. The bathroom is a little small, and does not have a proper tub, but it was pleasant enough. The wi-fi was not difficult to sign in to, and the staff were courteous and helpful. The lobby and surrounding grounds are absolutely beautiful, especially in the Spring and Summer months, and if you don't want to pay top dollar for dinner at The State Room, Grand River is a short walk away with lots of other restaurant options to choose from. You can't beat the location if you're visiting MSU. In addition, I had a problem with billing (my fault) and they were very nice and helped me right away.

Kevin J.

Yelp
From the outside and their website it appears this is a very up scale hotel. Once inside you are greeted by a friendly staff but once you venture away from the front desk is when it all goes down hill. The hotel sits on the edge of MSU and you will see a constant stream of loud obnoxious college students who can be heard cussing and being drunk. As you ride the elevator up and to your room it continues to have a nice appearance. Then you step into a room smaller than those college students have. There is a two closets in your room when you enter, but wait two closets that can't be right. As you open the second closet door, you discover it's a bathroom. If you stench arms out you can touch each wall. You can use all the features of the bathroom without moving. If you plan on taking a shower and are over 5'10" plan to fight with the shower head that can't hold its own weight. Upon your exit from the water closet you enter the main room. About twice the size of the bathroom. The beds are inches from the wall, and your partner will have to crawl over you. The bed has a sheet and a top sheet no comforter. It's ok to sleep on. The up keep on the room is poor. I noticed water spots on the ceiling , pealing pant, a bathroom vent that was bent / not in place and rusted shower pipe. Housing keeping is poor as well. They will pickup and make the bed and it stops there. I noticed water spots from drinks no cleaned from the night before and water left in my ice bucket. My suggestion is to find another hotel for a higher standard unless you want to be on campus or near by.

Yelp
We stayed here for MSU orientation. Great service all around, many hospitality degree students are working here post graduation and while in school. The rooms are small, that's true, the bathrooms are very updated when it comes to appliances, nice tiles, etc. The restaurant, bar, food and drink selection are pretty outstanding. The parking is covered and connected to the hotel. You get discounts for merchandise, breakfast, parking is validated at the front desk.

Meghan H.

Yelp
This is a great hotel for an event or conference, as the hotel is directly connected to the convention space and the parking garage. The front desk will allow you to print for free if you need it. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are...weird. They're pretty small. We had a deluxe king room, and it was very tiny. The restaurant and bar looked good, though I didn't try it. I'll echo the reviews regarding the bathrooms. Ours was similar to others in that there was no separate divider for the shower in the bathroom. As in, there was no door or even a tub to separate the shower from the rest of the floor. This means your entire bathroom floor gets soaked whenever you take a shower, because the curtain is clearly not enough to prevent the water from spreading. They give you a teak matt to dry off on afterward, but let's admit it, this is basically a farce. Like, thanks for the effort, I guess, but I'm already all wet and so is everything else in this room.

Melissa D.

Yelp
The inside does not reflect the outside appearance or lobby grandeur. Rooms are tiny, barely any moving space. And, seriously, the showers are a safety hazard. I was booked here for a conference and I am not happy with the comfort level, or lack, thereof. 1. Bathroom - smaller than a coat closet. Water nozzle straight out of the ceiling and floor with drain. All tiled. Safety hazard. No fan in bathroom. Who doesn't have an exhaust fan in the bathroom? The constant reminder to reuse your towels wouldn't be so bad, if you didn't have to use them on the floor to mop up water so you don't break your break moving around. 2. Sleeping quarters - I have seen battleship bunk areas with more space. Marks on the walls, where housekeeping has (probably) squeezed themselves to make the beds. Weirdest temperature system I've ever seen. Dresser and desk with chair, that I'm not sure how it fits in there. 3. Then we have the paper thin walls. 1 hour listening to a woman on the phone screaming at her husband, boyfriend, etc about him sleeping around. Cause that's what I want to hear when I'm trying to sleep. 4. Wifi is inconsistent. Have to sign in multiple times in a 10 min. time frame.

Amber T.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to sleep while you conduct business on or near the MSU campus, this is a good option. If you're looking for comfortable, luxurious digs, this is not the place. I was thoroughly underwhelmed by my stay at the Kellogg Center hotel because the room was so incredibly small. They fit 2 queen sized beds into a space smaller than a dorm room; there was barely any space to put our bags since there were two of us staying in the room together. And the bathroom. Oh geez, the bathroom. They describe the bathroom as "European style," meaning there is no bathtub, and there is no dedicated shower. The entire bathroom is tiled and you're expected to use a shower head that's hanging from the middle of the ceiling. I'm glad I washed my hair before my visit, because no way I was going to deal with that mess. The upside to the stay was really the staff; the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. When we needed cups and a corkscrew they had everything we needed right away. But I wouldn't choose to stay here again if I could help it.

Adam K.

Yelp
Horrible experience at the hotel and state house restraunt. After booking 16 rooms and spending thousands on dinner and drinks. Our group asked were we could do a holiday white elephant gift exchange. The employee said that we could use the seating near the lobby. 10 minutes into our gift exchange another employee said we could not be there and tells us we could go to the bar (which only had 1 person in there at the time). The group moves to the bar and finished the gift exchange. A few minutes later we are told that we cannot purchase any drinks based on our volume and nothing else. Never visiting this place again!!!

Mike M.

Yelp
I'm here doing interviews on the MSU campus. Modern facility and the room is pretty high tech and modern. Great bathroom, comfortable bed and work station and an efficient staff. Pretty cheap room as well.

Sara S.

Yelp
My review is really 2.5 stars, but I'll give them two stars since there are no half-stars allowed on Yelp. I'm not feeling generous today. Anyway, the first of two wedding receptions that I attended where the venue ran out of food mid-way was here. Isn't that rather appalling for a wedding? How embarrassing! It was ridiculous! The food that I did receive was alright, but they literally ran out of appetizers during the cocktail hour mid-way through! That's committing the number one cardinal sin when it comes to weddings. I noticed during our seated dinner that the portions coming out of the kitchen to the last few tables (mine included) were getting sparser by the minute and, of course, we were seated at the very last table served! So, the shortage of food continued. The venue, itself, is beautiful and all, but service was sketchy at best. I never received my flute of champagne during the toast (neither did my husband and a couple of others) and that was it for the bar service! Seriously? When it came to cutting the cake and serving it with sorbet, the dinkiest portions were doled out. Seriously, my slice of cake was so paltry and thin, you could see through it! PS: The entire family is still talking about this, it has actually become legendary. Nonetheless, I can't hate on this place for a good reason -everyone seemed to have a nice time and really came together as a family, despite the mishaps and shortage of appetizers.

Ty T.

Yelp
Facility looked good... but they certainly don't want business at the bar... if you want to get a few friends together and have a few drinks... not the bar for you.. if your looking for quiet, and rude service this is your place !

Bill S.

Yelp
Eat at Brody Center Food Court across the street. $9 for dinner, $6 for breakfast. Awesome. Swim at the MSU outdoor pool or 2 indoor pools. Ask for a pass. Park in the covered garage. Ask for a pass. Have a beer at Harrison Road House a block a way.Great selection of micro-brews. Sit outside on the patio. Get a $1 ice cream cone at Quality Dairy. Watch the Camadian TV news on the TV. Get a room facing the Red Cedar River. Walk through the Botanical Garden nearby. Yes, the rooms are small and the bathroom tiny. This was a women's dorm back in the day. The $5 undisclosed "resort fee" (ok, universities are now resorts like the MGM Casino) is annoying as can be. But for something different, this place can't be beat.

Garrett A.

Yelp
Really torn on this place. First of all, I came as a part of a wedding party; since the bride and groom had booked their reception downstairs there was really no point in trying to find a room somewhere else. The room was pretty average for what you would normally get for $100 -- nice bed, flatscreen TV, etc. The only thing that sucked was the fact that the shower and the toilet was separated by only a curtain, so the whole bathroom floor is wet by the time you finish showering. And no microwaves or mini refrigerators. I also had no idea about geography. Let's just say that if you wanted to go to the bars on Abbot that's about a 20 minute walk from the Kellogg Center. That SUCKED when it was 95 degrees out. The good: The room our reception was held in (one of the Big Ten rooms) was beautiful. And you really can't beat stumbling upstairs after too many rounds of champagne. Unlike other hotels I've been to, which all seem to ignore housekeeping if you stay in past 9 AM, this one was mindful of our weekend schedules and came in around 2 PM. Also, parking was a breeze -- something I really appreciate after living in Chicago for so many years!

Mai T.

Yelp
I've been here for several occasions especially for our Sorority functions. I must say that it's a nice conference/banquet hall for East Lansing. The last time I was there, I remember that the food was extraordinary, the service was pleasing, and the room we were in was absolutely gorgeous. I have not had the chance to explore the entire facility, but I can vouch for the banquet rooms. The Kellogg is a pleasure to work with as well in booking and making sure things run smoothly.

Kristyn L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here.... Everyone was So Nice!! It was a nice location for a Michigan Conference. Food=5 stars Housekeeping and Room amenities=5 stars Service=5 stars The Hotel Bath room=1 star (super teeny and strange) Lobby Bar=1 star (I dont think they have one) Sooooo...Enjoy the great service, people, comfy rooms, food (yummy!) .... but dont expect any cocktails and beware the bathrooms - they are the worlds smallest. Cheers!

Fern M.

Yelp
Must say I'm surprised at the antiquated TV system at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on MSU's campus! For each channel you have to type a 3-digit number into the remote. There is no guide--to channel surf you enter a 3-digit number, then another, then another. If you try the forward/back channel button it kicks you out to four analog infomercials. The front desk was less than helpful :-(. However, the very small room was clean, the banquet food was good and (surprisingly) served very quietly without interrupting or distracting attendees with "kitchen noise".

Clif P.

Yelp
The rooms are small, but look recently-updated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was competitive, although during MSU home games it can get very high.

Sam G.

Yelp
Kellogg Center is a nice facility for meetings, but the rooms are tiny. My bathroom had a track along the ceiling that had a curtain hanging from it which was supposed to be the makeshift shower. The water wouldn't get warm, and it was extremely cramped. The features and details of the rooms, however, are updated and nice.

Valerie D.

Yelp
Probably better than most of the other hotels in the EL area. My mom booked here for my sister's gradution a few weeks abck. The rooms are nice, pretty compact. I had a tough time with the concept of the shower, it's literally in the corner of the bathroom with just a drain in the middle of the floor. Very weird. The beds were comfy enough, and the ameneties I needed were there. I just can't get past the shower thing.

Lori I.

Yelp
Service was outstanding. The room was clean and spacious. Would definately stay here again!

Haroun K.

Yelp
I had a nice time at this hotel. The rate was quite cheap, and the rooms were not so bad. It reminded me of what you'd get in an urbane, budget big-city hotel. Of course, E.Lansing is not really a city, but a collection of farms and students of farming. There was no dedicated shower per se, just a curtained area and a showerhead, but that is not so inconvenient. The beds were big and comfy, and there was a flat screen TV and a very scenic view of campus (beautiful in autumn). Breakfast at the State Room downstairs was included in my room rate (fall special?), but it was terrible (not the hotel's fault). The location was pretty good: we were able to walk to and from various "cultural" attractions. If for some godforsaken reason I need to have a hotel at MSU again (and I can't really think of a good reason), I'd have no problem staying here.

Go B.

Yelp
Very poor experience. Group dinner and space for a gift exchange was reserved but got moved to different areas twice until finally asked to leave the bar/restaurant at 9 pm. Bad idea to stay at a hotel where a bunch of high school stufents work. Don't do it. Would have gave 0 stars but it will not let me leave a review.

Alexandra K.

Yelp
The hotel was definitely affordable for the weekend wedding, at $110 including tax and fees, but I would not likely stay there again. First of all, they had a European-style shower, which was not enclosed, and the room was disgusting musty upon our arrival. The only real treat was the free breakfast coupon (not really a treat when you read my review of The State Room), and the validated parking.

Mao P.

Yelp
Had a conference here and was thoroughly disappointed. Here's the breakdown: Room - small. The shower in the bathroom was merely a curtain division between the toilet and shower. There's no tub so pray the water is flowing to the drain, otherwise the entire bathroom floor might be all wet. The shampoo and conditioner provided was fine but there's no body wash, just a bar of soap. They have couches in the room but they looked like something from the 70s. It's likely super old and dirty. The beds were okay but I found a lot of random bugs everywhere. The windows have not been dusted so hello allergies! They have the weirdest temperature settings in the room. One is for heater and the other is fan, neither of them are automatic which means non stop fan or non stop heater. Service - the front desk was quite helpful - they are 3 stars except a little inexperienced and slow. Food - the food sucks here. How do they manage to have super dry chicken under cooked? My chicken breast was pink and dry. I'm baffled by how that could happen. Try to stay somewhere else. This place is like an upgraded Quality Inn.

A K.

Yelp
This place is good for location only, o yeah .. and the bar.. rooms are basically dorm rooms with very little room.. bathrooms are very strange and tiny... other than that it's a good place.. Especially if you are visiting someone at MSU like i was.... so unless you need to be on campus of MSU i suggest get a real hotel.. but as far as being "on-campus" lodging this place is not bad..

Paul W.

Yelp
I was at this hotel for a conference. Great that they pick you up and drop you off at the local airport for no charge. The check in/ out process was easy. The rooms were ok for the price. They had a small fridge, desk and seating area. Bathroom was a little small. The restaurant in the hotel was great. Reasonably priced with good variety and a friendly staff. The bar was inexpensive with a good selection of local beer on tap. Thursday night all wines on the list were 50% off under $300. The selection was great for a small hotel. Gift shop closed early...7PM. I would stay here again.

Dan R.

Yelp
I stayed at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center in the late spring of 2013 while at a professional conference. The rooms are somewhat smaller than a standard hotel room, sparely equipped, and very simple. The most notable difference between the rooms and a traditional hotel room is the shower; it is a small corner "European" style shower. The shower head is mounted on a flexible arm mounted in the ceiling. There is only a curtain that separates the shower corner from the rest of the small bathroom. This means the water goes everywhere on the floor. There is no tub or surround to contain the spray that hits the floor; it can make for a slippery mess. The hotel gives you a teak base to stand on so your feet don't get wet once you get out, but it does not work well. Do not expect your spouse to be in the bathroom as you shower, they will get steamy and wet. Water splashes as far as the sink and the toilet even with the curtain drawn. The bathroom seemed to be a fairly recent update compared to the rest of the hotel. Pro-tip - press the button on the bathroom wall switch to de-active the auto light and turn on a nightlight. Hair dryer equipped. The toilet is powerful however it's loud. You hear your neighbor's toilet, as well as the one above you. Room sound insulation is pretty good, then again I was staying here in the late spring so school was out and graduation had ended. The room was fairly clean, clean sheets, clean towels, comfortable beds, small coffee maker with supplies, flat screen TV. Windows that open were nice to find. The HVAC controls can be cumbersome and very inaccurate. One night, my room was too cold, the next it was fine, the day after that I slept in a desert. Not much room around the beds, it almost has a dorm like feel to it. Lights are all CFL based, and the closet/bathroom is automated with on/off timers. There are small movable CFL lamps over the beds.. If I had one issue with house keeping parts of my room seemed slightly dusty. Not horrible, but not spotless either. Note: there is no room safe and no fridge. There is a closet with standard hangers, sliding mirrored doors, two drawer dresser. There is a small desk area with outlets, no CAT 5, however WiFi is free (and was very dependable). No daily WiFi logins are special codes were needed, the signal is strong in all rears of the center as well as my room. I was able to watch Netflix in my room no problem. Half of the channels (analog) on the TV are fuzzy, the rest of the digital ones are fine. You'll have to power up your phone or laptop at the desk. This seems to be the only accessible set of outlets. There are no outlets near the center night table or beds. However if you are willing to look you could try to plug in a phone charger next to the bed, but it's a hassle. Ironing board and iron in closet. The bar downstairs is nice, fair prices for a hotel bar, decent food (I ordered a few appetizers). Nothing to rave about, but if you don't feel like going out to Lancing for drinks it's a fine place to share a drink with a friend or just relax. There is a small gift shop stocked with lots of MSU "Sparty" (Mascot) wear. Snacks, candy bars, chips, drinks are also here. Shirts, hats, sports wear, all in MSU colors and logos. While staying they offer a 20% discount on all MSU titled items in the store. The Hotel / Convention center seems to be built in the 1980's with some parts having a more recent refresh. The grounds behind the hotel are the MSU campus; you can walk with ease to all parts of the MSU campus, and its very pretty. Walking to restaurants and shops in Lansing is very accessible. It's nice and quiet to get around VIA foot or bike. Shuttle/Taxi service to and from the Lansing airport was quick and timely. The hotel catering was very good. The service, food quality, and meal options were above average. Everyone in our group enjoyed the food. I would think that parents of family staying for a day or two would be fine here. However extended stays would be tiresome. Staff was attentive and friendly at all times. Checking in and checkout were smooth and painless. I can't comment on the price of the room since the conference host funded my stay. In summary - PROS - Clean and Friendly. Good food, Fair prices, Right on MSU Campus, easy access to stadiums and buildings. Free WiFi Nice surroundings. CONS - Odd bathroom shower Smaller than average room. Slightly aged Little dusty here and there in the room TV channels can be fuzzy HVAC can be tricky

Yelp
Exceptionally average hotel with probably the smallest hotel room I've stayed in recently. (Although I did not have the shower problem everyone else here is complaining about, my room had a full tub. Maybe they've renovated?) Heating/cooling system is bizarre - they are two different sets of controls, and if you turn on the ac you can't set it to a specific temperature. Desk is made of glass, which really just served to illuminate that it was covered in dust (as were several corners of the room, and I am not a super clean person who gets grossed out by a little dust, I'm just commenting that it was there). All of the pillows were too fluffy for my liking. They do have some nice conference rooms downstairs and catering provided my group with a pretty tasty banquet one night, so they have that going for them.

Yelp
Staying here for a corporate recruiting trip that is also held here. Rooms are small/old. "Fitness center" is a joke. 4 cardio machines, only one machine can be used at a time because the electric isn't wired to support more than one machine. Also no service at all (wifi or 4g) in the fitness center. Would not stay here again

Yelp
I have attended professional conferences at this location for the last two years. The services are very professional and the facilities are extremely clean. The available technology in each break out classroom is state of the art, and the building temperature was perfect in each room we utilized.

Yelp
Stayed here for a wedding and the reception was help in one of the big 10 rooms. It's only $100 bucks per night and let's be real, I'm willing to sacrifice a real shower for the luxury of stumbling up to my room after dancing and drinking for 7 hours. Yes. 7 hours. Places like this prevents circumstances where you pay for a shitty room, go to a wedding reception, party a little too hard and miss the last shuttle that takes you back to your hotel so you end up spending the night wrapped up in your bf's suit jacket, tucked away in a small sofa while the rest of the party is also passed out on the floor in the reception hall. BUT....that's another story for another time.

Yelp
I stayed here while taking the bar exam. It wasn't phenomenal but definitely did the job effectively. If I fail and need to take it again, I'll definitely stay here. Pros: -Location: Located about a 5 minute walk (that is really being generous) from the Breslin Center -Free Parking (in and out) -Free Wifi -Very Friendly staff (seem to be a lot of students, all of whom were very smiley. This was very nice especially when you are crazy stressed out. -Extremely accommodating with test takers (I ordered room service for breakfast the day of the exam and they had a little sign that said 'good luck!' with my food. It was sweet) -Room service is very reasonably priced. I think $6 for a meal of oatmeal, berries, and toast. Cons: -The shower (see older reviews... it has been talked about a lot) -I really questioned the cleanliness of my room. My room had a guest itinerary for a previous wedding guest that was still sitting on the desk when I checked in. Also, my bed had someone else's hair in it. -The rooms are quite small and not very well lit. -Speaking of which, I got there on a Monday evening for my Tuesday and Wednesday exams. Monday night was an important study review night, and the lights in my room weren't working for a good 2 hours after my arrival. I kept calling down to the front desk and they kept saying it would be fixed shortly. 2 hours is not short when you are trying to study for the hardest exam of your life!!!

Yelp
The "standard rooms" are very small compared to modern hotel rooms, ask for a "Luxury" room if space is important to you. This is an older property the desk clerk said it was originally built in the 1950s for the University to train future hotel and restaurant managers. That being said a majority of staff are college students. The Shuttle service is very limited going only to the Lansing airport or train station unless prior arrangements are made with the manager (expect to pay a fee.). Shuttle service is only available 7:00am to 10:00pm otherwise they will call a taxi (which you must pay for). The rate they quote you on the phone will not include the 13% taxes or the absurd $5.00 per day "Hotel Fee" and associated 6% sales tax for the fee. I was told the fee covers the expenses of parking in the parking garage, the wireless internet, shuttle service to and from the airport and coffee in the room. Which had always been included with the hotel rate during my prior visits. This is a limited service hotel. Food and beverage operations cease at 10:00pm normally and do not resume until 6:30am. The State Room restaurant tries to assert it self as high end dinning and while the food is acceptable you may want to consider other options outside the hotel if convenient and especially if you want to impress a dinner guest. There is no pool on site however you can get a pass to use the University's gym and pool from the front desk. The walls are thin bring ear plugs especially if it is an MSU home football game weekend. Some of the decor is severely dated trapped forever in 1985 while other parts of the hotel are modern but the decor is very beige, bland and somewhat uninteresting. The showers in the majority of rooms are "European Style" (Think Soviet Union circa 1975), they are absurd and get water all over the bathroom you can literally sit on the toilet and take a shower at the same time. there is no lip to catch the water around the shower area. Demand a tub but expect to pay more for the privilege. In short I only stay here if I have direct business to transact with Michigan State University otherwise I'd much rather be at another property.

Yelp
This hotel was clean and nice. The staff was friendly. The room was really cute and comfy if on the small side. Flat screen TV with cable, iron/ironing board, complimentary coffee from Rwanda (quite good), and nice-smelling toiletries made my stay easy. The hotel provides parking vouchers for the parking garage that can be accessed from the hotel, which is quite nice. They also provide vouchers to use the campus's athletic facility, which has a pool. The hotel has an in-house restaurant and lounge, which I didn't get to try out. Overall, would stay here again.

Yelp
Staff was extremely pleasant, and the wi-fi was super fast and painless to access. Room was nice, but had some strange quirks. The automatic lights in the closet and bathroom are a good idea, but annoying in practice. The decor was fine, although the dark grey walls and industrial-style artwork made it feel a bit grim and cold. The bathroom is flat out bizarre. As other reviewers have pointed out, there is no tub or shower, just a shower head hanging from an arm in the ceiling and a curtain to keep the water from getting on the toilet and basin. There was also not much space to put toiletries in the shower area, so my things kept falling on the floor. Speaking of the floor....I'm 5'4" and cannot stretch out my arms in the bathroom without touching a wall, so the entire floor was wet after the shower. The tiki mat they provided to keep your feet dry afterwards creeps me out because I'm not sure how they sanitize a wooden floor mat. I just put on my shoes and had an awkward time keeping the hem of my pants dry. All of that being said, it worked, the water pressure was *amazing*, and the Red Orange scented shampoo/conditioner smelled so wonderful I broke my years-long policy of not using hotel toiletries. Besides the strange bathroom, my only other major complaint was that there was a very loud party/poker game going on at the end of the hall, and I was woken up a couple of times with their shouts and laughter, and people chatting loudly as they walked to and from the room. Overall, it was a pleasant night's stay. I would say that if you have to have instructions for everything--from how to use the bathroom to how to find the electrical outlets near the bed--you probably went a bit overboard on revolutionizing the hotel. The instruction card was handy and the attached parking garage was convenient enough. I would definitely stay here again, especially given that it's in this particular area of Lansing.

Yelp
Parking ramp attached to hotel is $1.50 per hour and they accept card or cash. This is the fee if you are NOT a guest staying at the hotel. The ramp hours are 6am-Midnight which means free midnight through 5:59am. 2-1-18.
