Let me crystalize how long it's been since being in Kelowna: the last time I was here, Fred Flintstone punched me in the face. Early 80s, going back a ways. I also remember the Ogopogo statue that snaked out of the grass, and holy hell, it's still there. I don't recognize anything else. The lake is beautiful, the walk is divine, and thankfully, parking is free. And it's bloody hot, that's climate change for you. The beach is long, but not wide, and the majority of areas are not compatible with swimming. Most of the time, it's a boat dock, and expensive ones. There's even a water-lock separating the natural lake from a fabricated one leading to expensive homes, like a snap-shot of Venice. An unspoiled and well-built boardwalk fringes much the water, leading you almost to the exit of downtown. With amazing shopping streets across from the park featuring dozens of restaurants, this part of Kelowna is a must-see for anyone even passing through. I'm glad the Ogopogo statue is still there, though overwhelmed by newer, and apparently whiter, exhibits, so give it some love when passing.
