Kempinski Hotel Cancún

"It’s a behemoth in size, but the Grand Hotel Cancún managed by Kempinski (formerly the Ritz-Carlton) is a cocoon in terms of personalization and comforts. The hotel fronts 1,200 feet of white sand beach right in the heart of Cancún’s Hotel Zone. The six dining outlets include two award-winning restaurants, the recently renovated Mexican-Mediterranean Fantino and the Club Grill, which has a champagne bar and live jazz every night. At D-Lounge, you can sip more than 100 varieties of tequila. All of the rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and ocean views. Of course there are the expected amenities, like a kids’ club and the Kayantá Spa, which has custom treatments inspired by ancient Mayan healing rituals."

From the moment we arrived at the Kempinski Hotel, we were met with a level of service that was warm, attentive, and genuinely personalized. Every interaction—from the front desk to the poolside staff—reflected professionalism and true hospitality.||The property was immaculate, with our room being thoroughly cleaned not once, but twice daily. The pool area was beautifully maintained, offering a serene and relaxing atmosphere perfect for a restful getaway. Poolside service was prompt and friendly, enhancing the overall experience.||Breakfast each morning was a delight—diverse, fresh, and flavorful. The poolside menu was also impressive, and dinner offerings exceeded our expectations, both in taste and presentation. Throughout our stay, we felt completely safe and well cared for, with staff always available and eager to assist.||Leaving was genuinely bittersweet—we even hugged a few of the team members as we said goodbye. The kindness we were shown made a lasting impression, and we are already looking forward to returning. Kempinski truly feels like one of Cancun’s best-kept secrets.||A heartfelt thank you to the manager and the entire hospitality team. Your dedication and care did not go unnoticed. We’re incredibly grateful and hope that many more travelers discover this gem in the days to come.

Everything was excellent!! The food, the people, the facility. Beautiful place!! The hotel’s amenities were top-notch – the rooftop pool was a serene escape, and the on-site restaurant served some of the best meals we had during our trip. What really stood out, though, was the outstanding service. Every team member was courteous, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay perfect.||We felt valued and pampered throughout, and we’re already planning our return. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking comfort, elegance, and impeccable hospitality.

People who are stating the hotel is dated must not understand old money style. The hotel is definitely not dated and it’s up kept very well - if you’re reading comments about it being dated or old it’s because people are assuming everything should be modern new money style. The hotel is absolutely spotless, the cleaners are amazing. The beds are very comfortable as well. Breakfast buffet has a great selection and I’d recommend putting that into your room rate. The servers and towel guys have been nothing less than great. All of the staff pay attention to detail and the wants and needs of the hotel guests. They remembered us by name and preferences by day two. Everyone has had a great attitude here, the staff have all been so nice. We decided to extend our vacation a night and they could’ve charged me the room rate for the current night last minute booking and they chose to give me the rate I booked with months ago. Thank you guys for that again! We loved the fresh flowers in the lobby daily! The bus is also right outside which is super safe for tourists and only 12 pesos a person one way, we took this daily back and forth to meet family staying at the far end of the hotel zone. Thanks guys for a great vacation

Stayed at the Kempinski for a long Memorial Day weekend with my 14 year old daughter and her friend. The hotel was very accomodating to me as I really needed a connecting room and booked really late. There was a $99 charge per night for this which I thought was odd, but maybe this is the norm as I have really never had connecting rooms before. ||One month ago I was in Cancun and stayed at the JW Marriott so I have pretty decent current knowledge to compare the two. JW has an up on the Kempinski in terms of an updated hotel upon first arrival and updated rooms. But the Kempinski's lobby seemed much nicer and formal. My suite at the JW had a way better updated bathroom. Although the Kempinski rooms are shouting for an update, they are clean and nice. Bathroom tub was kind of odd and shower was small - but the water pressure was fine. Towels are a sure sign to me of a bad hotel vs good vs excellent 5 star. I would say they were ok?||The pool area at the Kempinski was a barren wasteland - when you look at it you are not sure it is even open or if there are any guests at the hotel whatsoever. Don't worry about snagging a chair because there are a ton and only about 5 in use. That being said - plenty of chairs and the attendants are there to help set up an umbrella, so that was great. Super quiet and clean. If you are looking for a wild party you can go down the street to the hard rock hotel I guess (no thanks). JW has an up on the pools. ||Only had breakfast at the hotel and I ordered off menu two days and did the buffet two days. The buffet (as are all buffets in my opinion) was eh. The items I ordered off the breakfast menu were very good. JW breakfast was complete garbage. At Kempinski, you have to really fight the wait staff to let you order off the menu as they really push the buffet. I had to get really stern and fought my way to it. But the fight is worth it to get decent hot food.||The gym was really good and comparable to any high end hotel I've been to. Machines were great. ||I really hope that the Kempinski group puts this on their list for updating. This was a great value for the money. Quiet and clean. But almost so quiet I am not sure if they are planning to close it down next week.

If you're looking for a place where you can truly be pampered, this hotel is a perfect choice. Unlike other bustling venues, you won't find large noisy crowds or have to fight for a seat here. Instead, the hotel offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, where exceptional service ensures you can unwind and enjoy your stay.||||The absence of blaring music allows you to soak in the soothing sounds of waves lapping against the shore of a beautiful crystal blue ocean. Dining options abound, both within the hotel and just a few minutes away, catering to every palate.||||Additionally, the hotel is a short 20-minute drive from the airport, making it highly accessible for a day of sun and sand. All of this comes at a reasonable price, making it an ideal choice for your next getaway.

Wonderful weekend stay at the Resort. Staff is amazing at the restaurants, the pool area, the spa and the Club Lounge. Definitely will be returning soon. If you are looking for a quite getaway in Cancun to relax this is the place to be. 5 Star resort in our opinion. ||Also, the rooms were clean and great views of the ocean.

*EDIT: After this review on Maps and Booking, suddenly the issue was escalated and surprisingly my items appeared again. With great service they were sent to Cabo for me to pick up. Edited up the rating, but cannot go above 3 as - obviously - local teams only seemed to care when pushed publicly.* Guest property „disappearing" after otherwise marvelous stay: Amazing hotel in terms of location, architecture around the Maya hall, and staff attention. Didn't lose a touch since takeover from Ritz during our stay. However, only a great experience until checkout. Left 2 bathing shorts in the bathroom and explained in detail where they hung and what they look like. Nobody seems to be able to find them - apparently disappeared into thin air. Property of guests disappearing is a serious topic! Similarly bad, nobody seems to care and suggest any next steps. Only my own escalation to Kempinski central allegedly triggered a review without results. Apparently disappearing guest property is not a serious topic to Kempinski? Don’t care about worth of 2 shorts but it is (1) highly inconvenient to have to buy new ones for the remainder of the trip, and (2) alarming how leisurely all Kempinski staff deals with this incident. Sad to really have to say: Wouldn’t have happened under Ritz. After all years under previous management, unfortunately only once and surely never again under Kempinski.

Yelp
Stayed here for toro and the experience was amazing. Great location and staff was very personable. The views from the room were nice as was the balcony we all got. The breakfast was top tier because the servers all called me by name and I never had that anywhere. They sang happy birthday to a kid and gave him the biggest piece of chocolate gateau cake. Comfy bed but the shower was tiny. Glad I was because it won't allow for a big person for two people but nice to see that everything was separated - the toilet and the shower each had a door. The beds were comfy and the $1 bus into the city isn't far from the hotel either. The ATM is in a small room with a door which is nice but as you can imagine the fees are outrageous. Great place to stay as it's in the hotel zone.

Yelp
The property, hotel staff, and total experience are truly first class. Stunning views, beautiful clean hotel, amazing service, gorgeous pool, great food. Total package.

Yelp
I debated going here because of negative reviews and grateful I didn't pay attention to them. This is a superb hotel with 5 star service. It's fairly close to the airport. The room we had was a double bed room facing the pool. The pool is stunning and the beach is steps away from the hotel. The food is exceptional and we received breakfast complimentary each day. The staff in the hotel are incredible . We met some loyal staff that have worked on the property for 25 years. Osman was our waiter and he takes a bus every morning from his home and it takes 2 hours each way. That is loyalty to a job. The gym is fantastic and has everything you need to workout. It happened to be very windy and there was no shade by the pool but that's not the hotels fault. The beach does have seaweed but it's soft sand. The only minor annoyance is they charge 30 dollars a day for shade on the beach. For the amount we pay that should be included. Also the spa is was too expensive. 200 for an hour of massage. I'd consider lower the price for patrons - otherwise they go elsewhere for massages (which we did). Otherwise fantastic hotel

Yelp
The friendliness of the staff is what made this stay so memorable for me. We still have a few days to go but I've been overwhelmed by the graciousness and hospitality of the workers here at the Kempinski. People are messy. They leave stuff every where. They are demanding. They want everything now and the way they want it. And the staff here is beyond accommodating. The pool areas are so well kept, bathrooms clean and the common areas are inviting. A few highlights for me: The complimentary yoga on Tuesdays and Fridays is a must if you want to see a beautiful sunrise while tapping into your inner core. The instructor was patient yet pushed us to go further into poses with confidence and reassurance. I found it to be an excellent amenity and would have gone every day had it been offered. It is a bit surprising more of these kinds of classes are not offered. No pool-based classes or other body work. It's a bit of a must nowadays. The gym staff is lovely as well! The breakfast here is amazingly good. It's a full buffet with an omelet station as well as table service. A la carte offerings as well. Full range of food but my favorite was the Mexican Hot Chocolate. Perfect way to start the day. Many thanks to Rudy for the wonderful outdoor service each day!! Angel! You are wonderful and I love my Chocolata Abuelita tablet!! We dined at Casitas last night and both the food and the service were excellent. The staff's concern for you is very genuine and they explain things so you know what you're getting. Wilbert helped us last night and he was just delightful. Pablo served us lunch the day before and it was so nice to eat outside with the breeze blowing and the lap of the waves feet away. We met some folks while waiting in line at the breakfast buffet and they invited us to join them for dinner at The Club Grille. This is exceptional fine dining with above and beyond service. Of course if you're used to the wait staff at restaurants placing your napkin on your lap then you'll view this differently yet for the average traveler this was quite an experience again made personal and special by the attentive and well-trained staff. I wish I could remember everyone's name but everyone is really equally friendly. We spent most of our days lounging by the adult pool. It is well kept and when the staff see you settling near a chair they will come and set up your towels for you. There is food and drink service but no pressure. We tried D Lounge one night and while I was not very hungry the Udon Soup hit the spot. The view is excellent and it's a nice way to wind down from a day of doing absolutely nothing. My husband went solo one night while I remained in the hot tub, and the saunas. He was very disappointed in his hamburger. Go figure. lol. The main pool has sunscreen. You'll need it. The sun is strong here and you'll burn quickly if you're not diligent. They also have a water station but the poolside servers gladly will bring water all day long if you ask. We splurged and rented a cabana one day! Highly recommend: you can email the concierge and reserve ahead of your trip to ensure availability. Some of the wonderful people we met said they booked them months in advance. Zenaida makes sure you have everything you need; waters, fruit plate, guac & chips come with the reservation. There's a hammock that is so perfect at the end of the day. This was one of the highlights of the trip for us. Thank you Reynaldo for your attentiveness and responsiveness and for the delicious yaxhá!! Set expectations appropriately. There is always going to be that family who has five kids diving in the hot tub while you're trying to chillax. Whatever. The long expanse of beautiful beach is steps away so take a walk instead. So far my absolute favorite treat has been the Tres Leches Cake at Casitas topped with Manila Mango. My goodness!!! So good. Very authentic. We also were able to order it in the middle of the day at the cabana! Talk about luxury! Is this property pricey? Yes. Yes it is. Just plan for it. Tip the staff well and remember for the most part, few of them are returning to homes with turn down service and chocolates on their pillows. ¡Hola! Gracias. Buenos Dias. Buenos Noches. A little bit of Spanish goes a long way here and staff are appreciative of the effort. Also we met really friendly fellow travelers. Perhaps the pandemic reminded us how important kindness and compassion for others is in this world. We enjoyed our stay here very much mostly due to the excellent staff. It's a bit of a dated property and my only suggestion would be to replace the lotion in the guest rooms with the same kind that's in the gym. First World issue, I know. The women's locker room is well stocked for a late day shower. Staff at the Kempinski earned all the stars of this review. Muchos gracias to each and every one of you!!!

Yelp
Best hotel in Cancun. The staff is amazing. The services are excellent. The restaurants are very good. The rooms and public areas are beautiful. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Amazing hotel with 5 star food and 10 star service. They had plenty of variety of restaurants and despite hurricane beryl, they pulled out all the stops to ensure guests were safe, well fed with rotating menu, and entertained. In their ballrooms they had beds set up for those not wanting to sleep in rooms with balconies due to the howling and tropical cyclone but also set up games. We almost didn't check in due to the chaos of the weather but decided to try to make the best of our two night stay and was the best decision thanks to this amazing and opulent hotel. Service second to none and have stayed at plenty of 5 star hotels in the world. The kids also loved the kids menu and the hospitality. Our 7th floor seafront view was amazing too!

Yelp
Heads up this property is going to be sold so the Customer Service is nonexistent. FIND ANOTHER PLACE! Sadly this is no longer a luxury hotel. They only want to collect luxury prices but fail to make your visit luxurious. The hotel is extremely outdated and needs major renovations. I spoke with other people who have been visiting this hotel for years, drippy showers, bad plumbing and broken items. It takes the shower 10 minutes to heat up. The walls are peeling and the furniture is as old as the property. It's sad that the Management lacks customer service training to make up for outdated and actual issues. My family was stranded at the airport because the hotel failed to send a driver. Because of this we had to wait 2 hours at the airport to be picked up. Not one apology or phone call from a manager my entire stay, despite emailing them and calling them requesting to speak with someone. They offered zero accountability and being it was a holiday we didn't have any other options. Do your self a favor and avoid this place!

Yelp
Great hotel, great service, a little pricey but worth it if you're looking for a non-party atmosphere, relaxed, not too overrun with kids, quiet, beautiful beach front, pools, spa, great gym, yoga, shuttle to shopping. This is the former Ritz Carlton, but they changed the brand/ownership couple years ago, but it's the same 5-star quality.

Yelp
Amazing hotel and staff are just wonderful. The food in the hotel I just amazing with exquisite taste. I Would definitely book again.

Yelp
Excellent service, location and maybe the best "resort" cuisine I've ever experienced. The on-site restaurants stack up with the best anywhere. Of course, the white sand beaches are incredible as well.

Yelp
You will not be disappointed with this hotel! It was 5 star customer service from the moment we arrived till we were dropped off at the airport. We LOVED this hotel so much, we booked another trip while we were still there! The staffs at this hotel are extremely helpful, and courteous. Everyone there made our stay a memorable one. We had the pleasure of being checked in and out by a wonderful lady (GMOLI732 - sorry I can't remember your name) who made sure that our room was ready by the time we arrived. And not only that, she made sure that our room had all the baby amenities that we need so we had the crib, bottle warmer, bottle sanitizer, and a high chair in the room waiting for us! Tips for travelers: Go down to the beach super early (I went down around 645-7am) to snag the blue lounge at the beach for only $35/day. They don't take reservation for those lounge; first come first serve. You can also make advance reservation for the big casitas for $235/day. Sand toys - they gave each kid a set of sand toys when you checked in so no need to pack these bulky items unless you want to. Forgot your sunscreen? No worries, they have stations thru out the pool & beach area with sunscreen and aloe vera just in case you get too much sun. Do book a casita ($100 fee) for dinner - it was an intimate and romantic dining experience (even with 2 kids running around). We had Marcos and David the first night we arrived and they were rock stars! Food - we ate lunch at the property for the whole week. My husband was hooked on the Yucatan Chicken Sandwich, my daughter who doesn't really like chicken loves their chicken quesadilla, and you can't go wrong with any of the grilled fish. And if you like spicy, be sure to ask for the habanero spicy sauce that the chef makes in-house - they should sell that sauce! I also love their Mango Chile Margarita - spicy and refreshing! We certainly also ordered quite a bit of pina colada. Seaweed - I read some reviews online complaining about it. We really didn't see any when we were there (Thanksgiving week) so maybe it only comes during the summer months? Not sure. Ocean - the waves can be rough but they do have 2 life guards on duty during our stay. We got lucky on 2 days when the ocean was calm. The life guards will tell you the areas where you can swim in. In-house photography - we loved them! They did such a good job especially with a raging toddler on the loose. Make sure you bring outfits to do family photoshoot, they charge $20/picture with no sitting fee and you get one free from your resort fee. I would suggest doing the shoot on a cloudy day so you don't squint your eyes too much. Book a couple of sessions on different days and hopefully one of them will be cloudy? That's how I would do it the next time we are there - Oct 2022! Restaurants - there are a few restaurants that are walking distance if you get bored with the options at the hotel. The concierge can help with reservations or you can do it yourself as most of them are available on open table. Shout out to David (the server), Marcos, Edgar and Reynaldo at the restaurant/beach/pool area. They took good care of us while we were busy sun bathing and playing in the ocean. Ruben, our bell guy remembered us through out our stay. Miguel at concierge was ever so helpful with all our needs and questions. Juliana who made sure our room was always nice at the end of the day. I only wish I can have my house cleaned twice a day! Thank you all for making our stay there a memorable one. A couple of improvements - they can add a little more alcohol in their drinks and they definitely need to change their baby wash & shampoo as both are not tear free. Found out the hard way so we stopped using them on day 2.

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful... and quiet poolside makes for a relaxing vacation. All the staff is so nice.

Yelp
Five stars all the way! There is nothing I can say negative about this hotel. Upon arriving they take your temperature and sanitize all your luggage and bags. There's sanitizer all over the hotel if you need it. I was surprised to find they actually clean the rooms each day unlike every other hotel right now. The maids even change the sheets and bring tons of née towels each day. The rooms are very simply decorated but still very high class. We had an oceanfront suite and it was so worth it for the view. Every time we needed water or coffee, it was brought up quickly. They have rollaway beds but they cost $50 per night. The restaurants were all amazing. I highly recommend Fantino for a date night or special occasion. It's fine dining, yet very affordable. The bar by the pool made the best pina coladas. The Mexican restaurant did a breakfast buffet in the morning but we only dined for lunch. The tacos are delicious! Room service was the best. The food was well prepared, tasted great and was brought up quickly. The beach was very nice as well. It was well taken care of and had plenty of chairs or even cabanas. The towel service was nice to set up our towels and chairs for us. People do walk up and down selling stuff, but no one was pushy. There is a convenient store right across the street from the hotel if you wanna get cheap snacks or drinks or anything you might have forgotten. This hotel was top notch from the service, to the views and cleanliness. This is the only place I will stay in Cancun.

Yelp
This is a review based on our one week stay at this resort in April 2022. The most relaxing lavish vacation to say the least. Coming back next summer for sure. Did not leave the resort, spent most of our time on the beach in the cabanas. Waiters at the cabanas and poolside were super attentive, incredible service. Pristine beach. If you're looking for a good place for dinner try Fantinos. Extraordinary service, great food and live piano. If too tired to dine out, we ordered room service-- delicious nachos. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Zero complaints. Seriously the best service ever. We landed super early on the day of check-in and flew out super late on the day of check-out. The Ritz nothing but accommodating. The hotel was very clean, the room was well stocked with everything needed, they refreshed/cleaned the room daily, and provided turn down service. The beach area was my favorite. They have white lounge chairs with umbrellas for free, blue covered chairs for daily rent, or cabanas for rent. There is towel and food service at all three. There is also a lifeguard stationed right in the middle for a little added security. They also have a nice pool area with the same services available. The food is pretty good, you know, regular hotel food. We ordered from the restaurant, the grill, and room service. It was all good. The service was quick and everyone was very friendly. We paid cash for everything, so there were no surprises at check out. Overall- no complaints. The views were beautiful and the customer service was on point.

Yelp
Good parts: only a few people there; the food is OK and the employees are pretty friendly. bad parts: I burned my fingers in the hotel's cafe because the plate was too hot. They called the hotel medical emergency to treat my fingers but I couldn't join the rest of the activities with my family. No follow-up after that. They still charged for that breakfast. Also, they charged the "telephone" cost. I never called anyone from the hotel's telephone line. You need to review the bill very carefully before signing it!

Yelp
The ritz makes you feel like luxury! Everything from the food, rooms, bar, to the staff is top notch. Not one bad compliant from my trip. The pool food was amazing and the service was extremely quick! Loved how easy it was to access the beach but still have an amazing pool to hang out at. I felt extremely safe with the staff and hospitality. Also - The bathroom was top to bottom in marble! 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
First time staying at a Kempinski but third time to Cancun. Prior stays were at Hilton and Banyan Tree (also fantastic service). I will say this hotel does a lot right. Very well trained staff. Like every person is professional from housekeeping to the pool servers. I don't need to be pampered but it's depressing to see hotel employees that seem to be miserable. Here it seems like it was a really competitive entry and they take the upmost pride in what they do. Service aside, the beach here is far better than the other properties I stayed at. The water is crystal clear with waves big enough to boogie board. The beach itself can get narrow with the tides but that's a very minor criticism. Think I found the place I'll return to.
google avatar

Antoine A.

Yelp
This place is heaven on earth. The property is 10/10 but the most appreciated part of our stay was the service - it's clear that there is a top down focus on the guest experience. The manager at The Kempinski must be doing something right! ** Carlos is the best bartender (in the world) he took the time to teach us Spanish, made the best cocktails, and made us feel at home, thank you!
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
The beach, the location and the crew on the beach are 5 star. The hotel is nice, but our room had a musty odor/sewer smell the entire stay. I called 3 times to try and get the problem solved, but was never communicated with as to the cause or what they would do to solve the issue. We also paid a premium to stay on the club level , which is an upgrade and includes food and liquor. The breakfast and lunch are fine, but dinner is a joke. Not enough food or staff...some of the "concierge " staff work hard to assist the staff, while others sat idly by on their phones. I think this service should be better. More than one night, they did not have adequate food for the number of guests...and they seemed indifferent as to the issue. This isn't on the level of service you expect from Ritz. Management should fix these issues.

Yelp
Excellent service and clean comfortable rooms. Ask if floor 8 is available for an extra helping of luxury and concierge service. Will be back to visit soon!
google avatar

Gerardo S.

Yelp
The hotel is ok. The food is very basic and over priced. They don't have decent wines (red or white). The food is overpriced in all restaurants and prepared in a very basic way. The seafood is crap, they don't use fresh shrimp-scallops etc. Mostly previously frozen. And they also use microwaves to heat up certain food. I also asked TWICE to clean my room and they didn't do it. There's many other options in the area. $650 dollars per night are NOT worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Impeccable service. General manager Aref Sayegh did an excellent job in training and motivating his team. The food is amazing, and the amenities are clean and comfortable We enjoyed the beach and the swing pool in a sunny but fresh weather. We will be back.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our stay at this resort last week! It was our first time staying at a non-all-inclusive resort in Mexico, and I was very pleased. My husband wasn't too excited about the bill... but alas, you get what you pay for :) Before arriving, I worked with Yoko, the concierge, via email. WHAT AN ALL-STAR! I have worked with many concierges over the years, and non come close to Yoko. Her level of knowledge, detail, flexibility... I could go on! She arranged all of our dinner reservations, and even moved a few around for us. The lobby area/common areas are a little outdated, but the styling is very old-world/classic, so it works. The rooms are all updated and Jonathon at the front desk helped us with an upgrade to larger room in honor of our honeymoon. We were so pleased!! Also, the housekeeping team here is fantastic! Their turn-down service every night was like a deep clean. Very impressed! Overall, service was exceptional. The pool area is lovely and we loved sitting under the umbrellas on the beach. Unfortunately, we couldn't really go in the water because there was so much seaweed. The pool service by the pool was wonderful. Highly recommend the Don Julio margarita and the chicken nachos! Worth noting, we were not too impressed with the restaurants on site. I suggest walking across the street to Harry's, Porfirillos, and Ilios. We did enjoy breakfast at El Mexican every morning. Loved their eggs Benedict! Also, the iced coffee stand near the lobby was AMAZING!

Yelp
Exceptional service and quality. The staff are incredibly attentive, the facility is clean and well kept and the food/beverages are second to none in Cancun. The hotel GM and his staff work tirelessly to ensure their guest's have an outstanding experience. Everyone is very kind and accommodating. We will definitely be staying here again and will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Yelp
Although this hotel has weathered several storms, management has been able to keep looking at its best. The location on the hotel strip is outstanding, there are several great restaurants within walking distance. Service is outstanding, at the pool, spa, club, everywhere. We celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary, and decided to do a dinner at a private cabana on the beach, best thing ever -food was excellent-. We also made plans for a couples massage at the spa, one of the best experiences we have had. The attention to detail of the staff throughout the hotel was amazing. They definitely did everything possible to ensure we had an amazing stay. Will definitely visit again!

Yelp
After a lot of research, we knew we were going with a Marriott property (we have had good luck with allergy accomodations - daughter needs to eat gluten free - almost everywhere we have gone and stayed with Marriott). We looked at Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Cancun, and Marriott Cancun. We ended up going with Ritz although in hindsight, I would have gone with JW as the JW and Marriott Cancun are connected so you have double the restaurants. In general, the Marriott website is HORRIBLE when trying to research menus. Vacation to us is great food and relaxing and having a family member with a food allergy, we always do a ton of research before deciding on where to stay. Once I found a contact for all hotels and was able to get in touch with an actual person, I started getting menus sent to me. This was so frustrating as I don't know why they don't post on website. Almost all menus do NOT include gluten free markings anyway. Every person I was in contact with basically said, Yes, Yes, Yes, we can accomodate any allergy and in the past, they have. The Ritz basically has 5 restaurants: The Club Grill (fancy, live piano), Fantino (did not go, very small menu), El Cafe Mexicano (buffet breakfast where daughter was able to order gf off menu), D-Lounge (known for sushi) and Casitas/The Caribe Bar & Grill (this is basically the pool side bar/terrace dining - during day it is The Caribe with it's menu and at night it turns in Casitas with a different menu. You can rent actual cabanas at Casitas on the beach for dinner for $100 or you dine on the terrace at no charge). Our first meal was at Casitas. At every restaurant, they ask you about allergies but that does not transfer over to your server always. When ordering and asking questions about what gf items my daughter could have, the server started with salad!!! My mouth literally dropped!! I had to go into Mom mode and explain to our server that I had been in contact with Marysol about our allergy, blah, blah, blah...in the end, he obviously got someone to help. My daughter ended up ordering a paella stew to share with her Dad and they even brought out gf bread and separate dipping oil for her. We also asked for gf sweet potatoes fries and without even asking, the server said they would be fried separately in their own oil!!! They were delish!! From then on, we knew we just had to ask questions (which is exhausting every time) and once we found someone who knew about gf, we had no issues. Breakfast at El Cafe Mexicano was amazing! They custom made her something every morning and made her gf pancakes to go along with it! Rest of family enjoyed the buffet...one of the best I've had! Angel was fantastic! The Caribe Bar & Grill - most lunches were pool side and went fine as well - we were able to get gf pizza and tacos. My girl is easy so pizza and tacos make her happy! Also, fresh fruit was a plus!! D-Lounge - they specialize in sushi and it was great! Very cool vibe! Club Grill was our fancy dinner and they were super on top of it! Even our amuse bouche was made gf for the table. Steak and mashed potatoes were fantastic! The corn lobster soup was amazing! Highly recommend getting the cabanas. Like I said, we were there to eat and relax!! Rental is around $230 and is from 9 - 5. Rental comes with guac, pico, chips, fruit plate and 2 water bottles. Service was great. They stop by with cold towels and complimentary fresh fruit popcicles. On the beach, they also have these blue covered chairs for rent for $70 and then of course the regular white loungers for free. We had no trouble getting the free loungers and staff will come put up umbrellas for you and you can get regular food/drink service there as well. There were also plenty of chairs by pool area too! We used the fitness center every day. It is small but served it's purpose. They offer coffee, tea, water bottles and fruit. They have a sauna and steam room which was a huge plus! Overall, a great trip!

Yelp
This review is for their pina colada. Their pina colada at the outside bar with the seating, the bar closest to the ocean without going down to the beach, is the best pina colada I've ever had in my entire life. It makes you feel like you haven't lived until you've tried this pina colada. You must order the pina colada. I tried another drink that is in the picture I posted with the pina colada. I can't even remember what it was called because the pina colada was so outstanding. Free valet parking. I just tipped them. Oh yea, and the hotel was really nice. Really clean bathrooms. The beach was nicer because they had a truck on the beach trying to clear away the seaweed (though the waves would bring more seaweed immediately back to the beach). The vendors don't come close to the property because there is an invisible line where the public beach is, and the private part that belongs to the hotel. Overall 5 stars but what do you expect? It's the Ritz.

Yelp
I can't say much about the experience of staying overnight at this hotel, but my oh my!!! Can definitely say it's 5 stars Plus for our morning coffee run! Our Airbnb was literally down the street from RC. We were looking for a coffee shop nearby and Yelp led me to Cafe Mexicana but we had no idea it was INSIDE the RC! We rented a car, so we pull up and told them we were getting coffee at the gate. Security let us in and there was free parking. Front staff and valet welcomed us with open arms. The coffee shop is in the back of the lobby and it was the best coffee run ever. The aesthetic, scents, service, and THE VIEW! It had a patio facing the sunrise and ocean and to enjoy your morning beverage with a view was incredible. It was such a hidden gem and the fact that it was open to the public was amazing. We went back to back 3 times every morning!!!

Yelp
Amazing service. You always have access to staff when you need something. Drinks are made well and food is great quality. One of the few places in Cancun you can trust to make a meal quality meal. Only area for improvement would be air conditioning in the rooms.

Yelp
On our first trip to Cancun we hit the jackpot by choosing to stay at the Kempinski Hotel (formerly the Ritz-Carlton) in the Hotel Zone. Our experience was amazing in every way starting with the bellhop's friendliness while taking our bags to our room. The room was very inviting, beautifully appointed and comfortable. We could see from our veranda (every room has a seaside view) that the grounds and view were spectacular. At our first morning's breakfast we experienced one of the real highlights of the Kempsinki- the food. The attentive service exceeded our expectations, but the real delight is every service we received was tinged with honest to goodness personality. We got to know our morning waiter, Joel, and he is wonderful. The food at every meal was over the top good, delicious and meticulously prepared from the morning chilaquiles to the catch of the day dinner. We got used to hanging out at the pool being excellently served by our waitress, Itzel. She remembered that we were taking a day trip Isla Mujeres and asked, unprompted about our day the next morning. The pool staff surprised my wife with a special birthday coconut drink decorated into a face which was adorable. Housekeeping staff not only did an amazing job keeping us comfortable but learned our schedule and would have the room done up when we came back to the room and even left roses one day. Leydi, our turn-down housekeeper, was a real sweetheart. We got to know her since we usually retire early. We had multiple check-ins from management and the concierge staff and got to know the restaurant manager Dmitri. Despite a clearly busy schedule, he took the time to check in to be sure everyone felt welcome. Anyone still reading this must know that I would highly recommend this property.

Yelp
This review is very long overdue. But I figured I post it before it becomes a year... The thing I love about the Ritz is that no matter where I go, I know exactly what I'm getting : it's the pursuit of excellence in all things. Nothing could be closer to this statement than our stay at the Ritz Cancun. I took my husband here for a surprise getaway for his birthday last year and he was beyond thrilled! What has always differentiate the Ritz from other 5 star hotels are the PEOPLE who works for the Ritz. The Ritz calls their staff, Ladies and Gentlemen and the tiles are so perfect because I always felt like I was being looked after and taken care of the whole time we were there in Cancun by the team. They anticipated what we would need or want before we even know it. I cannot wait to come back! The surprise gift arranged by Jocelyn that was presented to my husband in our suite was SUCH a lovely touch! We look forward to coming back! We stayed in their Ocean Front Suite. OMG! Amazing views! It offered two bathrooms, a living room, a foyer and conference room that seats 10-12 people (why would two people need this much space? Unless people use it to host private parties like showers or has meetings in their room. The living room and the bedroom both had ocean front views, and it was amazing to wake up to it. The room was beautiful and impeccable. When we went , we had literally just missed their annual turtle run (where they release baby turtles into the sea? I'm not sure of the details but if you are going in the month of September ask the hotel for details and they can arrange it. We went in October so completely missed it. I had notified the hotel in advance that it was for my husband's birthday and they had their concierge call me (yes they actually called me) and asked me what the Mr likes to eat/snack on because they want to make him something special. I threw out a few things, but I told them his favorite is caramel sea salt cheesecake, and he likes to snacks on almonds. And guess what??They actually made him a mini caramel sea salt cheesecake. They didn't just drizzle caramel and sea salt over a plain cheesecake either, the actual cake itself had caramel baked in it with caramel on the side as well!!! The Mr. was over the moon! And of course almonds to snack on for when we're just hanging on the balcony. We were always greeted by our names when we dine at the hotel or leaving the hotel, once again I have no idea how the Ritz always manages to do this. I barely could remember my neighbor's name.... Turn down service was lovely. And one of the nights there I had arranged for us to dine at the Culinary Center, and Casitas. (I will post my review there).

Yelp
Beautiful lobby, beautiful view from our room, we were promptly greeted with drinks and cold hand towels upon arrival and the rooms are spacious and the beds are so comfortable! The bellman brought our bags up to our room shortly after showing us how to navigate up to them. The balcony space is awesome and overlooks the pool and ocean. Be prepared to spend a LOT when you're here. It's very pricey but very worth it. However I did expect a bit better professionalism and service since it is a ritz... That said, I noticed when I got in bed the first evening that the sheets were stained.... when I ran a bath the water was a light brown and there was dirt in the water that settled in the bottom so I drained the bath and took a shower instead. We had a lovely time here but I did expect more from a Ritz resort. That said it was a lovely hotel / resort and we had a great Christmas get away. Pros: - twice a day maid service - 24/7 room service - accommodating staff - awesome spa with amazing services and aestheticians - spacious rooms, beautiful views - reservations are easy to make and so are outing reservations for recreational activities - service for almost anything is pretty damn fast. - dinner on the beach in a private cabana was amazing - food and drinks are delicious - lots of restaurants to dine at inside the resort - easy to get a beach chair and staff waits on you while on the beach Cons: - mold in the sauna at spa - mold in ceilings at spa - stains on sheets in bedroom - blood stains on the inside of bathrobe inside bathroom - dirty bath water - random merchants walking the beach bugging you when you're just laying there. Super annoying. security shouldn't let that happen. - not all of the staff speaks English so there is a tad of a language barrier.

Yelp
You really can never go wrong when staying at a Ritz. But the Ritz Carlton, Cancun is one that should be on the top of your list! You really experience a 5+ star service throughout your entire time here. The staff is accommodating, the food on property is delicious, the drinks are cold and strong! I booked a King Size bed in an ocean front room and man was the room awesome! The room is so incredibly spacious, the bed like all Ritz beds is so magical, the bathroom is large with a separate shower from the tub. You have plenty of space just to hangout on the couch/desk. But really the cherry on top is the beautiful terrace. You can watch the majestic sunrises or sunsets from the privacy of your own room. I also liked that between 8-11am the sun was right over the terrace so I could ease into my day of sunbathing in private. I always have a bad habit of booking awesome hotels and never spending much time enjoying them. This trip was different! I thoroughly enjoyed my time in my room, on my terrace, as well as roaming around the property inside and outside. The decor inside the hotels main lobby is beautiful. You feel as though you are inside a fancy European palace. The beautifully arranged flowers, chandeliers all around, the subtle smell of lemon. I could stay here forever! The room service meals are divine. After many days of eating at the other restaurants on property I felt like just eating in my room or on the terrace. For breakfast a few days I ordered: Huevos Motuleños ($320 pesos) and substituted the turkey ham for chorizo. Very tasty! Order the habanero! It's to die for. For dinner I ordered a medium rare black angus beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes ( $650 pesos). It came with this fantastic mushroom sauce that was amazingly delicious. While there isn't much to do around the Ritz, that's actually one of the perks. You won't see crowds of tourists trying to use your portion of the ocean, the beach vendors for the most part leave you alone and aren't as pushy as they are in the public beaches. You're about a 10 minute drive/30 minute walk to a few shopping centers with great shops AND Starbucks. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Love this hotel! The staff could not be nicer and the accommodations are superb. Gorgeous ocean front and two beautiful salt water swimming pools. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Excellent. Service and staff were amazing. I would like to extend a special thank you to Dmitry Lopez who made this trip extra special. He went out of his way to make sure that our last day was perfect. The reason I say our last day is because we just meet him. But the other 4 days were also exceptional from the food, cleanliness of the hotel and amazing staff from front desk to all of the supporting staff. We are planning to be back in the next 2 month.

Yelp
Wonderful service, various high-quality dining options, and overall fabulous stay! We loved this resort and felt right at home. Not only did this hotel cater to our requests kindly and quickly, but they were even able to arrange a driver for us so we could explore Tulum and be dropped off at the port, which was more affordable than a taxi or Lyft/Uber would've been. I appreciate their hospitality and I truly hope to back again!

Yelp
This is our first and only choice for hotels in Cancun. They are dealing with ovid very well, and with very few inconveniences, without being reckless. Can't say enough about the staff; they set a high bar for other Ritz properties. The upgrade to Club Level is totally worth it, as is the upgrade to Ocean View. There is a daily fee to reserve Beach Villa, which I also recommend of you plan to spend a lot of time on the beach. We don't like leaving the property, and the on-site restaurants make that easy; all are very good.

Yelp
The Ritz Carlton Cancún is everything we hoped that our entire stay in Mexico would have been. We were taken from The JW Marriott where we had been staying for the previous 7 nights by private car arranged by RC. Upon arrival we had our temps taken-our hands spritzed with anti-bacterial spray & our bags taken by the bellman. This hotel is serious about Covid precautions. Masks are required & 2 persons per elevator. The RC & especially Cynthia, our concierge on the club level , exceeded our expectations ten fold .The Ritz Carlton Cancún is our absolute favorite in 5 hotels in a month long Mexico trip! Each room overlooks the beautiful Caribbean. Ours had a double balcony with a lounger & two iron chairs. The cleanliness factor of the room & outside is beyond. The Club lounge is beautiful overlooking an atrium of green vines and stained glass above. The club lounge serves top shelf drinks such as Don Julio margaritas & Moet Chandon champagne until 8pm. There is breakfast-light lunch -dinner & snacks 8a-8pm. Cappuccino-coffee-& tea service and to me , it's worth the upgrade. Our concierge, Cynthia was amazing on every level. This being our 5th anniversary she ,unbeknownst to me had been coordinating with my husband to set up a couples massage in the amazing Ritz Ayashani Spa on site. They had the couples massage room set up with flower petals ; and Happy Anniversary along the wall! The massages were beyond zen for an amazing 80 tuned out minutes! After, we were taken to a relaxation room where they had a bouquet of roses -compliments of The Ritz Carlton ; refreshing green juice ; macarons; &more anniversary well wishes. I highly recommend the spa as it will calm & relax you beyond words. The suite we had was beautifully furnished in classic Ritz Carlton teal and french baroque furnishings with marble in the 1.5 bathrooms. The maid will be sure to straighten your makeup; tie off your hair wand cord neatly. We had our laundry sent off as we have been traveling for weeks & had it back within 12 hours. Our socks and underwear were all individually wrapped in plastic. It's the little extras that are so nice. You do not even get your own ice here; you call -request it. It's then brought to you within 10 minutes in a pretty silver bucket. The pool here is very pretty &laid out nicely; the beach is very nice. The beach casitas are at a rental rate of $160 from 8a-5pm. This was our only 'beef'. We inquired at 12pm. Waited for it to be set up for 15 minutes -were told that we would get , 'a bit of a discount' , when my husband inquired and said it was afternoon-we were half a day into the full day rental. That never happened. The service was pretty bad .The waiter came twice in 4.5 hours -gave us our last amenity after we reminded him we never received it. These rentals come with : Fruit Platter; 2L water; Chips ; Guacamole; Salsa -we never got the drink menu. We had a complimentary drink coupon as my husband is an Ambassador with Marriott, so we just ordered spicy margaritas. It was fun though to hang in this casita but overpriced for what it is. We did like the palapas best at Marriott Cancun and they are free ; they should be here too for what you spend on the rate here -place it as a first come ; first serve to the guests. They should discount as the day progresses. As another part of our anniversary weekend we had a private dining experience in one of the casitas on the beach at night. This was a surprise to me & coordinated with my husband & Cynthia without my knowledge. As we were having a drink in the Club Lounge Cynthia approached us & gave us a glass of Moet & asked that we follow her. I was super confused. Down we arrived at this beautifully set up Casita wrapped in white netting with twinkling lights and blue on the table in the sand. "Happy Anniversary! " , Cynthia says. I am in shock as to how my husband who is so busy, pulled this off without me knowing! He had forgotten that we had a bottle of Piper Heidsieck champagne in the room chilling . He got on his Marriott Bonvoy app & asked them to bring it from the room -guess what ?! They did! Don't worry -he tipped them well! He also didn't see lobster on the menu but had seen it on Yelp -we asked. The waiter went to ask the chef. Well. We got one ! This place is known for above/beyond service ! We never got to try Fantina , as we opted for room service last night. Speaking of which , room service : $80 for a huge cheese burger ; fresh catch of the day , ( grilled grouper with chile) ; a caesar; poblano soup ; two house made desserts ; water & a glass of wine ! It was rolled in on a beautiful white linen clothed table ; on actual china ; fresh warm bread & butter - set beautifully in our suite. Everything was impeccable from beginning to end and all in between. I am so sad our time here had to end and so sad we didn't stay here our entire time in the Yucatán Peninsula. Amazing staff ; grounds ; food ; service ; spa -everything!

Yelp
Of all the places I have traveled in the world, this establishment has been the best. The food was flawless, great wait service and value, beating any upscale restaurant in NYC, Chicago, California or any another international city I have traveled to over the years. I look forward to returning and seeing if the quality remains consistent.

Yelp
The honeymoon to remember. We stayed at the Ritz for 6 days on the Club Level, 8th floor. The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful. Our room faced the ocean and was a dream to wake up every morning to the sound of the ocean. The staff was wonderful and very professional. Luis, the head server on the Club Level is a master at his profession. The room service is prompt and always willing to help. I would recommend this resort to everyone. Great place for a honeymoon.

Yelp
Outstanding service you will be very pleased! Views are magnificent and food are very good quality. It's true what they say, "you get what you pay for." If you are thinking of splurging don't hesitate and book this place. Your bank account might frown but the memories you will create here are priceless. It's worth it! My only complaint is that the bed is a little too firm for my taste but that's just me. A cabana by the beach will cost you $35 USD and a beach villa is $230 USD I believe. A cabana is sufficient for us and prefer this as it offers more privacy. The beach has seaweeds but they do their best to clean this. If you look at neighboring hotels they don't bother cleaning up the seaweeds on their beach front. Again, you get what you pay for. And if you don't like iguanas like me then this place is for you. I only saw like 3. Oh and don't forget to order the tres leches cake. It's the best, it's not too sweet. Another thing there are no sunset views here as the sun sets by the bay which is on the other side. Ohhh I can't wait to go back here and make more #RCmemories

Yelp
5-star service ... 5-star setting ... 7 nights. Can I give a 175-star review for the Ritz-Carlton Cancún? Our vacation was a quintessential Ritz Carlton experience with elegance and comfort on the beautiful white-sand Cancún beach. The ocean front room in the heart of the hotel zone was just $268/night (before taxes/resort fee) ... which feels like quite a deal. Ocean view rooms on the side still looked awesome (since every room has a balcony & view) were even less. Outstanding and helpful service was never ending from check-in to check-out. Our room was cleaned at least 3 times a day (with fresh towels & bottles of water) and turn-down service in the evening always left chocolates and smiles. The concierge team was super helpful (and patient) planning activities and tours. At the pool and on the beach, we thoroughly enjoyed the professional and polite service setting up a cabana or umbrella plus bringing drinks and food. For dining, we really enjoyed the quality of the food ... and, of course, the service. We tried the Club Grill, Fantino, D-Lounge (& sushi bar), Casitas, the Caribe Bar & Grill, El Cafe Mexicano, and room service. So, basically, we tried all the options. All were 4-stars or better. Seriously, the blend of good food and great service will make any Yelper's vacation better. The Ritz-Carlton Cancún is not a new hotel. It's actually one of the luxury resorts built in the early 90s. The large open lobby with chandeliers, portraits, and marble floors is a classic welcome to your grand holiday. Just beyond the lobby are the two multi-level pools that include in interior infinity pool. They are great for swimmin' or chillin', but you'll definitely be lured out to the white sand and surf of the beach. The servers can bring you towels, chairs, umbrellas, sunscreen, or anything else you need. Perfect weather, breathtaking views, fabulous food, and impeccable service all made the Ritz-Carlton, Cancún a memorable vacation for 7 nights in a 5-star setting with 5-star service.

Yelp
I've dined here for breakfast and dinner a few times. The servers speak English. Went for breakfast two times and ordered from the normal menu instead of the breakfast buffet. Both times I had the eggs benedict. I was told by the person I was dining with that the eggs benedict would be the Mexican version of what I'm used to in California. I'm not sure what that meant but the bread for the eggs benedict was like a brioche instead of an English muffin and I liked it anyway. For dinner, I had the salmon sashimi, sliders, french fries, and some cocktails. Salmon sashimi was great quality. French fries were the best I've had in Cancun and reminded me of French fries made in America. Sliders were good. Service was great for both breakfast, dinner, and bar. Beach bar and patio were full of Americans looking like they're in their natural habitat. If you're in Cancun and miss America, dine here/go to their beach bar.

Yelp
This Ritz Cancun is a beautiful hotel on the beach with SUPERB staff! Upon our arrival, we were welcomed with refreshing nonalcoholic cucumber drinks while we completed our seamless check in. This family friendly, upscale resort was perfect for my classy bachelorette party girls trip. When we wanted to party and turn up, we took a short (~10 minutes) Uber/Lyft ride to the strip to hit the clubs. One day, we returned to our room to see our decorations were hung by housekeeping (they had fallen overnight). That was one of several kind gestures we experienced during our stay -- we felt so welcomed! The food was a 10/10! Dinner on the beach (see my Casitas review) and brunch overlooking the pool! Brunch was a spread for a Queen, with an omelette station, salmon tartare and cheese, bottomless mimosas, cold press green juice, fresh veggies, etc! I loved it here and I can not wait to return. *My stay at this resort was in late January 2020

Yelp
Held my 4 days of wedding events with multiple functions at the Ritz! Everything was magical! The service was the best. The food was delicious at every outlet and every private function.
