We stayed at this hotel with 3 little children (ages 4-7) for 7 nights in early October 2025.
Most things were excellent, a few things not so much:
* Breakfast: One of the best I've ever seen. Ultra-rich buffet with original and non-trivial items (e.g. Asian-style wontons), great sweet and savory pastries, and don't forget that in addition to the buffet, one can order egg dishes from the waiter (we missed that on our first morning there).
* Pools: the large outdoor pool isn't really usable if it's not warm and sunny outside. Officially the pool temperature is 30C but when it's 15C or less outside - it's hardly enough. On the other hand, there is another, smaller pool outside- the brine pool (more salty compared to fresh water but less salty compared to sea water), which is 34C - and that already feels fine! So if you're into a warm dip when it's cold outside - you have this smaller outdoor pool (and that's it).
* Kids club: out children really enjoyed it, but there is a big caveat if you are travelling with children: Their official kids club opening hour is 10:30AM. It should be said, we are NOT looking for childcare services, but only for a place where they can play games and toys under our supervision (during or after breakfast, one of the parents watching, the other one still eating or organizing the backpack for the day in the room), so only opening the kids club only at 10:30AM by the time we would want to be at the mountains - doesn't make any sense to us. Per our request, finally the management agreed to open the kids club for us, and that's a good thing! But only following multiple and recurring requests and explanations. Honestly I think it should be like in many other hotels and resorts- i.e. have the kids club unlocked always, and it should be the parents responsibility to take care of their children when kids club operator is absent.
* Location: micro-level: Not within walking distance to anything, located near a pretty busy road connecting Kitzbuhel with Mittersill and the Salzach valley below. Not really nestled in the heart of the countryside (it can slightly feel so though if you get one of the rear-facing rooms though). macro-level: Fantastic if you are with car and wish to travel to the surroundings: 10 minutes driving from Kitzbuhel town, 20 mins from Sankt Johann in Tirol, 30 minutes from Wilder Kaiser range (with tons of attractions and cable cars there), 10 mins drive from Resterkogel mountain (with the splendid summer tubing and commanding views of the Alps). If you drive further then in 1+ hour you can be in Achensee, while in 1+ hour to the other side you can be in Kaprun/Zell Am See, so the macro location of this hotel really captures much of the Austrian Alps (and of different parts of it!).
* Price: all in all, and being a Kempinski member, I think the over-all room rate for what you get is really affordable.
However, the restaurant on-site pretty much takes advantage of the fact you have no where else to go (if you don't wish to drive for dinner), and charges insane prices (double as much compared to restaurants in town), and the dishes are not very big. and that's a real pity. They could have had their prices 20% cheaper and it would STILL be on the expensive side (reminding you this is a restaurant with standard dishes, not a Michelin or some famous chef restaurant).
