Kempinski Hotel Khan Palace Ulaanbaatar

My stay at the Kempinski was good. The room rates were very reasonable (in winter) and service of hotel staff was friendly. My room was spacious and clean; though in general the hotel and room are quite dated. The restaurant is fine - service a bit scrappy and certainly not five stars. Some obvious improvements (like salt and pepper or serviettes on tables; or fruit teas would help). But all a bit old fashioned in the wrong sort of way. Lastly location was its tricky in UB. The traffic is mad so even a restaurant a few km away can take ages to drive to. And it’s very cold if you walk. But nothing nice nearby just lots of takeaway places many of which have limited English.

I had some of the best sleep I’ve had in months of continuous travel here — so much so that I decided to stay an extra night. The staff are incredibly generous, attentive, and speak English perfectly — true “textbook” hospitality.||The food and drinks are lovely. While the Mongolian options are limited, everything they do offer is delicious — especially the tsuivan (fried noodles with beef) and a very refined süütei tsai (black tea with milk and salt). Ask for it — they’ll beam from ear to ear when you do.||The rooms aren’t the most opulent from this brand, but they’re extremely comfortable and quiet. The gym is well equipped, and the sauna facilities are beautiful.||A great place to reasonably spoil yourself, regroup, and enjoy the charms of Ulaanbaatar at a fair cost. Safe parking, a convenient location, and genuinely caring service make up for anything less “extravagant.”

We stayed three nights at this hotel and everything was good. Room was very spacious, breakfast was good and service and excellent. The only problem we faced on the night we checked in. We arrived after spending 2 and half hours on road from airport to hotel. Then realized that there is only 1 litre water for two persons. The gentleman at the reception flatly refused to provide additional water. There was no water in the mini bar that we could use. It was a very uncomfortable night for me. My request to the hotel, please provide extra water and charge for it, but don't refuse to provide it.

I loved this place. Pleasant and elegant. The front desk staff were truly special. They help my brother and I rent motorcycles, provided wonderful guidance, and were just absolutely joys to speak with. Exceptional.

It was a last-minute choice, but I do not regret it. All staff can speak English and have a high hospitality mind. The room is comfortable, quiet, and equipped to the highest standard. I love the shoe polishing service.

This hotel was not as grand as we remembered of Kempinski Hotels, and in fact felt a little dated. Especially the twin-bed room which had an odd layout. But it was comfortable and had all the amenities you could need. Staff were very helpful and professional. We ate one night in the hotel and food was good. The hotel is about 2km from the square. You can walk it (about 30 mins) but it is also to get a UBcab anywhere using the app.

We decided to book room due to established name and promo price due to ongoing renovation at the hotel. Room was big but amenities were dated. Bed was not too comfortable. There are good food outlets and a hypermart nearby. Concierge staff were engaging and keen to serve needs; but not too well versed on places of interest or where visitors might like to visit.

Stayed for five nights. Room was very comfortable. Breakfast selection excellent evening meals were also good. Food service during evening very slow. Staff were polite with excellent English speaking skills. 30 min walk to centre of city. Good value for money whether for business or pleasure.
