Kenai Peninsula Suites (Homer, Alaska) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Though the name risks overstating the plushness of what are actually cabins, it does sensibly emphasize the care that went into their creation. Kenai Peninsula Suites is a collection of five unique cabins on a bluff overlooking Homer, Alaska’s Kachemak Bay, which range from the subterranean Wolf’s Den and Bear’s Den to the yurt-style Puffin and the more classic Eagle’s Nest and Otter. All are luxurious, though not without an appropriately rustic character, and all are equipped with kitchenettes and BBQs as well as phenomenal views and access to the property’s communal hot tub." - Tablet Hotels

What a great location. We considered staying on the spit, but we really prefer a quaint location to stay. This was it. We stayed in the Bear Den, and we loved it. Such a unique design. Our room was well stocked, very clean and the bed and pillows were perfect. The fire pit was a perfect touch after a day of fishing. My husband was happy to find all the supplies needed to make a fire quickly. Oh, and the view is spectacular. We will be back. Thank you for making it easy to be on the road.

I recently booked my first trip to Homer and was so fortunate to find Kenai Peninsula Suites! The location is absolutely gorgeous with stunning views over the bay. I stayed in both the Puffin cabin and the Bear Den, both were fantastic. I favored the Den because it brought just a little more privacy. Everyone was so nice and accommodating for me and my dog. Traveling in the off season had some major perks like having the hot tub and entire property virtually to myself. People working here were warm and friendly and accommodating! Would stay here again 10/10!

Amazing place to stay. The views 😍 we stayed at the puffin cabin. Good parking, enter from basement area. Lots of room. Big comfortable beds. Heaters in upstairs and downstairs. Very cool round house design with logs in stockade wall formation. Large sky light at the top of the dome. Big covered front porch with bbq grill. Not much in way of cooking other than the grill. Bathroom is very nice and roomy. The grounds are kept top notch. There is also a hot tub with a view short walk from where we stayed.

Google
Amazing place! It was very scenic and the little touches were nice. Stayed in the Wolf's Den and it was a great room. The hot tub is nice, but it had hair ties in it and leaves. Still used it, but it was less than clean. The lid to the hot tub was tied down with a ratchet strap for some reason so be prepared to fight to open the lid. There is a really nice firepit we didn't get to use, but others did and it looked awesome. Only downside was they gave us the wrong code to our room and no one is around to help you after 6pm. There is a phone number on the door to call, but it's not a quick response. Wasn't super crazy, but when you have two kids who need to pee, it's a problem.

This is an awesome place to stay in at Homer, Alaska! We were here in May of 2024. We were in the Eagle's Nest! Wonderful accommodations! Beautiful view, especially when you have 18 hrs of daylight! It beats staying in a hotel room for sure! I most definitely give this place a 👍! Rob Rogers Mississippi

Google
This place is truly paradise. The cabins are clean, the staff is top notch and the amenities are well worth the price. The view from the edge of the property is breathtaking. My husband and our children enjoyed this place so much. My kiddo really enjoyed the hot tub. You have access to a fire pit, your own private grill and each cabin has its own parking spot by the cabin which is great your not jam packed in a hotel parking lot 10/10. We will be back. We stayed in the eagles nest and the deck with the view was great.

Stayed at the Wolf’s Den. Loved it completely. The amenities are very nice. Super comfortable bed. Very quiet. Lovely views of the bay and mountains. Enjoyed the fire pit. Easy check-in process. Very unique construction - it’s like a hobbit hole. So cool.

Google
The wolf’s den was awesome. My kids were very impressed with the cabin and didn’t want to leave. It was beautiful, the cabin and the view. The horseshoes, fire pit and hot tub are great amenities that we didn’t even know about until we got there. The Homer spit was very windy that day, but back at the cabin it was a light breeze.

Yelp
A sweet gem just outside of Homer with breath taking views, a fire pit, and a cozy room with everything we needed for our weekend of respite. The hosts, Randy are Arlene, are delightful & checked in with ease and a warm welcome. We will be back. We are rested and happy.

Yelp
We planned a stay in the Bear Den and there was a huge change of plans. Kenai Peninsula Suites was AMAZING to work with and so helpful when it came working out a new plan for us. The staff is wonderful and very prompt with their responses. Our new plan had us staying in the Wolf Den. Upon arrival our suite was spotless and so so welcoming. The suite offers everything you need for a beautiful trip away from home. The yard just off of the suite allowed for our dogs to stretch their legs and have some fun as well. We will definitely be back and will recommend Kenai Peninsula Suites to anyone. The stay was exceptional and the view of Katchemak Bay was second to none. Thank you Kenai Peninsula Suites!!!

Yelp
Stayed in the Puffin cabin for four nights -- a great base from which to explore Homer and beyond! The cabin is indeed round, but much more substantial than what you might think of as a yurt -- it's a house. Very cozy, nice bathroom, great view, good privacy; definitely well-suited for hang-out / relaxation time. Well stocked with bathroom amenities, clean, good heating throughout. And, yes, we made s'mores at the fire pit. One note: the kitchenette has minimal cookware, and does not have a stove or oven, just a microwave, but there is a gas grill on the porch. If you're planning on cooking, say, Thanksgiving dinner, plan with that in mind. Pretty minor point; I would recommend the cabin and stay again without hesitation.

Yelp
I cannot think of one thing wrong with this place! I was here on business, but staying at Kenai Peninsula suites made it feel like I was on vacation. Amazing quarters, gorgeous views, and great owner. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Will definitely stay here again! We stayed 2 nights in the Otter. Beautiful views! It is winter time and lots of snow so we didn't utilize the fire pit or hot tub, but can't wait to go back during the summer so we can! The cabin itself was pretty clean and cute. Bathroom is small and right next to the bed. Only real complaint was the kitchen stuff not being clean...we could not use the coffee pot because it had mold in it, and the dishes and cups they provide were not very clean. All in all, the stay was great and we will be back!

Yelp
This was by far my favorite place we stayed during our week long visit to Alaska! Our suite had an incredible view of the mountains and ocean and our group had a blast using the outdoor amenities. We played horseshoes and used the fire pit which came with all the supplies needed to start the fire. I wish we could've stayed longer but it was the perfect way to spend our last couple nights in Alaska. Would highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Homer!

Yelp
This was definitely our favorite place we stayed during our Honeymoon!!! It was so clean and cozy and with the amazing views, it gave us that home-away-from-home, Alaskan feel!! Things were up to date, even for a cabin, beautiful wood accents, also! We will absolutely be staying here again when we visit Homer, AK again :)

Yelp
What a find! We stayed in otter and it was cozy, comfy and amazingly priced. Hot tubbing in the winter snow was the highlight. Highly recommend, especially in COVID-times: completely contactless, and cleanliness was top-notch. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
This was hands down the best lodging I've ever experienced. We had the Wolf's Den (Bear's Den is the same). Unbelievable view out the back door. Quiet, convenient, modern. Propane grill, TV. Stayed 5 days and wanted to stay forever. Couple of curiosities that don't impact the review score: there's a thermostat on the wall, but no apparent AC system (at least not one that worked). There was a fan in the room. That was plenty to stay cool enough. Bed was not great. But it was roomy. The circle staircase that accesses both "dens" was a little clumsy. Clever idea, though. Super convenient to the Homer Spit, and really everything you could ask for. One day we never even left the room.

Yelp
The views here are why you should book this place! It's close to town but far enough to feel like you are all alone. My husband and I stayed 2 nights here in the Otter cabin. Enough room for us both, although the bathroom is small and toilet right by the bed. They have a hot tub and fire pit for possibly main snores, however we didn't utilize these amenities by nice to know they were there.

Yelp
Wonderful stay in the Wolf den! Wow, what an amazing room and view. We loved the location and the room was very clean. We would definitely recommend to others and stay again if we find ourselves back in Homer.

Yelp
This was our favorite place that we stayed on our week long trip in Alaska that began in Denali. Upon arrival our check in was easy and pleasant. We stayed in the Eagles Nest cabin. It was huge and very open and spacious. The views off the front deck were incredible. We loved the sitting area and the kitchenette. It was nice that we could make breakfast each morning in our own room! The grounds were breathtaking. It was also fun that you could build a fire in the fire pit out if you wanted. We will definitely be back to this place!!!!

Yelp
I love this place so much and this is only our first night. Great location. HUGE spacious room. Comfy bed. Clean as a whistle. It's like your friends beautiful summer place. Kitchen, big fridge, everything new. Blond wood, great decor. Wifi works the best of anywhere we stayed. LOVE!!!

Yelp
I'm not going to take up a lot of your time with a long-winded review of our trip to Homer. Just believe me when I say, Kenai Peninsula Suites is the gem of all gems. My wife and I ended up booking extra days and canceling other plans because of how great this place is. Unique architecture, incredibly friendly owners and staff (what's up Jen and Brooke!), mind-blowing views. I mean, man, how is this place real? All we do is talk about coming back. Do yourself a favor, book now. Don't think twice. Book now.

Yelp
Love. personally, i like the bear and wolf den best but they're all good. Rooms are super clean. Bring your swimsuit for the hot tub!

Yelp
Arlene and Randy were excellent hosts! Very friendly and warming people. This was the best lodge we have stayed in. It's a warm, cozy and clean environment! Thank you.

Yelp
I booked a getaway here based solely on referrals and yelp reviews. Though this was my first stay here, it will not be my last. No question; 5 stars. But don't think its the Waldorf Astoria; it isn't trying to be. Look at the pictures of each unit on their web site; these pictures are extremely accurate and you can see what you're getting. This is a very very nice getaway place. So close to all the great activities in Homer, plus close to Ninilchik/Anchor Point too. I love the oceanfront view. We stayed in the Bear's Den - one of the subterranean units. I was a little worried that it might be cold - I was so wrong - the in floor radiant heat makes the entire unit warm and cozy. And being underground means it is quiet. Its hard to describe, but it just feels good there. It was exceedingly quiet and clean, and in excellent repair. I like that it has state of the art big flat screen TV/DVD player, and yet no house phone. The ocean side of the unit is where the unit comes above ground, in a whole wall o windows, & just outside a very nice private (ocean front) deck with very high end gas grill, and just beyond that is a beautiful little semi private yard (shared only with the Wolf's Den) that ends with a cliff that goes hundreds of yards down to the breaking surf. The eagles love to soar on the updrafts caused by the high bluff; at times we saw 3 - 4 eagles soaring like this at once. John & Jen own and run the place. They are just wonderful to work with. We stayed for 4 days, and during that time there was one very small problem with the water - it lasted less than an hour and was no big deal. Both John and Jen had immediately launched into action and fixed it right away; how great is that? Even though the problem was fleeting they still felt bad about it and gave us a discount coupon to use on a future visit. We plan to use it soon; I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Well, the previous reviews already said it all and in detail. This place is worth every penny!! If you are visiting Homer, this is hands down the best place to stay. It fuses together the local charm with the unexpected conveniences. Impeccable cleanliness, very tasteful and unique decor, custom finishes throughout... I was blown away!! Can't beat the overall atmosphere and thoughtfulness with which every detail has been addressed. I recommend, recommend, and recommend again!!!

Yelp
This place is so beautiful! It's a very well kept property and run by very friendly people. We stayed in the Bear's Den and loved it! We used the hot tub after a couple long days. It's close in driving distance to everything in Homer. If you like to walk, you can drive to the lookout point which is 2 miles towards town. At that point there's a sidewalk that goes the final 2 miles into town. We are very happy we chose to stay here for our first time in Alaska.

Yelp
I hope I get a chance to visit again! 4 of us stayed in the Puffin. Very spacious, clean, super cool designed cabin. We braved the cold to take advantage the fire pit in the evening. Not only is there a stunning view from the cliff, there is also moose and bald eagle watching. The owner is also very kind and forgiving, came over later at night without scolding us after we had locked ourselves out:)

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing. I very rarely write reviews, and when I do they're hardly positive, but this place exceeded all my expectations. I don't need to rehash what every other reviewer has already posted, but let me just say this: Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You will not be disappointed.

Jim C.

Yelp
Over hyped for what it is. The couch was cool looking, very stylish but didn't work well when all the TV plays is DVD's. So all I got to watch was a fuzzy screen. The kitchen is "stocked". It has a microwave in it that barely fits a plate, the pots and pans are nice but what do you do with them? They don't have a griddle or burner. I usually buy the pre-made pasta in a bag dished and then reheat on the stove for camping. Couldn't do that here.... they do have a BBQ on teh porch, but they don't have BBQ utensils. The coffee was weak, but kuddos for supporting local. The stove is by the front door and kitchen, so when you are sleeping way accross the room, i was cold.... and the bed was like sleeping on card board. Not comfortable at all. The non-refundable pet fee is crazy! They have to be joking! $75 non-refundable, that is half of what I pay for my refundable fee for my duplex in Anchorage. I don't think I will tell my friends and co-workers about this place. Take it for what it was and move on.

Yelp
I love this place! I do lots of adventuring around the state and I usually try to stay someplace affordable. I don't need anything fancy. Someplace clean & relatively inexpensive is ideal for me. I usually bring my dog along so it has to be pet-friendly. Let me tell you -- I've stayed in some peculiar places. Lots of them look really good on their website but not-so-much in person. Some look like a 'work in progress,' meaning that they really should have finished construction & repair on the place before they opened it for business. Lots of them are in desperate need of a handyman. Some of them have 25 years or so of bad repairs done to them. I usually chalk those peculiar places of lodging up to 'local color' and 'all part of the adventure.' But Peninsula Suites in Homer is by far my favorite of all the places I've stayed that meets my criteria. We walked into our cabin & turned around and around in circles saying to each other, "This is so NICE!" We spent a long winter weekend in Homer and this was the perfect spot to veg out, watch some movies, and take advantage of the cross country ski trails located right across the road. They just opened last year and everything is nice & new & well-built & very well-thought-out. I stayed in the Otter Cabin and the decor is Alaskan without being corny or cliched. The people who run it are very friendly. I loved the kitchen, stocked with everything you need for preparing simple meals. They give you cool stuff like quality local coffee, popcorn, hot chocolate, earth friendly bath products. Loved the grill, the big screen tv, the wireless, the hot tub, the sauna, the view... Can you tell I liked this place? And I'm not alone in my opinion. Our cabin had a guestbook that was filled with glowing reviews. I recommend it whole-heartedly.

Yelp
This place is so awesome I don't know where to begin. We have been traveling around Alaska for two weeks and Kenai Peninsula Suites was an incredible surprise. We've stayed at several places along the way from great cabins in Seward to utilitarian rooms in Valdez. Kenai Peninsula Suites is like having your own personal resort. The comfort level is amazing. Each cabin is unique and has a great view. The Wolf/Bear Dens are underground with a unique view. Each unit has a gas grill. A lot of thought was put into encouraging guests to take advantage of the common areas as well - there is a hot tub and a fire pit, each with a great view. Kenai Peninsula Suites is a great place to stay for the price because of the quality of the accommodations and the great service of the hosts. This is a place I look forward to returning to - and a great place to wrap up our trip. Staying here makes me long to stay a few more days.

Ronnie B.

Yelp
Simply Amazing! This place is worth every penny. They really care about their guests and it shows in everything here.

Jenn A.

Yelp
Great communication, good location, a bit of something for everyone. Spacious accommodations with nice, local touches

Yelp
This place is absolutely incredible. I've stayed here three times - twice in the Puffin and once in the Wolf's Den - and I've had the best time every time. Everyone else's comments on here have already explained everything I'd want to say, I just wanted to add to the chorus. This place is worth every penny.
