Kendall's Brasserie is located on the street level of the Music Center on Grand Ave. We had about an hour before we needed to find out seats at the Ahmason. This restaurant was very conveniently located. We had drinks and appetizers. My aperol spritz was good. His Maestro Palmer was delicious and notable - wow! We also had the roasted mushrooms and baguette. The mushrooms were so meaty and went well with the herb butter sauce.

I had the pleasure of dining at Kendall's Brasserie recently, and I must say it was an outstanding experience that exceeded all my expectations. Disappointed in food being bland and not as expected for a brunch . Menu did not prepare me for a crusty bread sandwich, again with little flavor. Not seasoned properly. Although Mohitos were offered along with suitable brunch cocktails, they seemed to forget to mull the mint resulting again a tasteless offering . Serving staff and host were lovely.

Yumm! It’s definitely a little spendy but worth it! I wasn’t too hungry so I got a caesar and brussel sprouts and they were very good. The wine selection was nice and my friend got the chicken and a cocktail which was nice. They were very fast and we got to our show in plenty of time.

French spot right next to the Ahmanson/Dorothy Chandler Pavilion/Mark Taper Forum. Lots of theatergoers came here prior to shows. Made a reservation for three online beforehand and it’s a straightforward process. If you’re going to see a show, park at the underground garage Music Center (entrance on Grand) for $9 on the weekends/any show day after 5pm. Gendered restrooms available. Credit cards accepted. We got the cheese and charcuterie board which seemed to be a popular order. There were three different cheeses and three different meats, with the portions smaller than expected but there was a variety, so it wasn’t too much of a loss. The loaded fries were really rich and I got that for my meal, but had a lot for leftovers the following day. The mussel pasta was super buttery and rich, which in my book was a plus. Unfortunately they were out of the chocolate creme du pot so I was sad about that. We used a gift card and had $10 left which we wanted to apply it towards part of the tip, but apparently management doesn’t allow tips to be taken from gift cards. That was the first time a restaurant had a policy that didn’t allow you to use a gift card towards a tip, so we were surprised.

One of those wonderful places where you never get a bad meal. Always packed but they always fit you in...excellent service to top off excellent food! Great downtown location! Near everything...even theater. Patio el fresco dinning is an option. The inside set-up rivals anything you might find in Europe. It's beautiful! They have a huge full service bar and all the amenities of a world-class establishment. On my top 10 best restaurants list! With pleasure!

I visited Kendall's Brasserie before a show at the Ahmanson, and I was honestly confused going in because Yelp has it at a 2.9 while Google shows a 4.2. The prices are definitely on the higher end, so I expected more of a high-end dining experience. The food itself was good, but nothing really blew me away. The little details also didn't match the price point. For example, the cheese board came with no cheese knife or utensils, and while it tasted fine, it felt like something I could've picked up at Trader Joe's. The mussels were good, but there was no separate dish for the empty shells, so everything had to go back into the same bowl they came out of. None of these are huge issues, but for the cost, I expect those small touches. The atmosphere also didn't feel very elevated -- the lighting was extremely bright and the tables were packed in tightly, which took away from that luxury dining vibe. Overall, the experience was fine, but not special. For about $100 per person, I was hoping for food or ambiance that stood out a bit more. It did the job for a pre-show dinner, but I wouldn't call it a high-end experience.

Avoid, avoid, avoid! For years, Kendall's Brasserie has been a comfortable and reliable Music Center favorite, with a traditional French brasserie menu and ambiance. No more. The new owners have transformed the interior into something resembling an IHOP. You'd think the tiny menu would give the kitchen a chance to get at least one entree right, but no luck. Overdone fish, lousy steak frites and something the color of, but not the flavor of, French onion soup are trotted out by a confused waitstaff (who couldn't even manage to find a birthday candle for the dry and overly salty opera cake). If you told me that the kitchen consisted only of a freezer and a microwave, I wouldn't be surprised. Run away!

$160 with tip. Nah. Was super excited to have a meal with my lovely wife on our 22nd wedding anniversary. after enjoying a great show at the Ahmanson Theatre we decided to stop in at Kendall's. I ordered the steak frites with chimichurri... Pretty hard to screw that up.: My steak was cold. I sent it back. They threw it on the grill for another minute. so now it's no longer medium rare but it's still cold. Also, no seasoning on the meat (????) also the chimichurri was a garlicky mess. Our waiter, a very tall man with hoops in his earlobes was friendly and attentive and could tell I didn't like the food he apologized twice. When you're charging $52 for a plate and it's well below mediocre you should comp that plate when the Customer doesn't eat it. They never offered and I'm not the type to make a big stink. I just paid it. It is what it is. The reason Kendal's gets two stars instead of one is because the appetizer, the brussels sprouts app was nice as was our waiter. Ambience is kind of cool, but 160 bucks for two mediocre plates a decent appetizer and one glass of good wine... Meh.

The food and drinks were good but the bartender was a little scattered and took a long time to bring me the wine that I ordered even though he wasn't busy. The bar stool was incredibly uncomfortable for my birthing hips and there was no foot rest under the bar so I would not sit there again. I would appreciate if the menu indicated allergens like gluten and for whatever reason I didn't feel comfortable asking a bartender. Decent option before the theater and was not busy at all for my 6:15 pre-theater reservation.

Been visiting Kendall's ever since they opened and switched off from the original Wolfgang Puck Cafe that preceded it. Given the longevity over now almost 20 years, this small French based café has stood the test of time with many standard French entrées and starters, a full bar with a reasonably good wine list, and expedient service that always is able to conclude your dining well before your attending performance upstairs. They're always mindful that you are probably attending one of the many shows up in the Music Center. I think the most notable reason people will rate this restaurant lower than usual is the expectations that French food is always a luxury and presented as a Michelin experience. I would equate Kendall's as more on the par of a regular European French influenced Cafe with reasonable prices and a reasonably diverse menu that does not over indulge on rare items or ingredients. I found a few similar restaurants to these in the UK. For example, while you can order escargot, you may be dismayed that they didn't include the shells. This is pretty common in the lower priced cafés simply because the shells are an added cost, and don't actually do anything to add to the deliciousness of the entrée other than presentation. I can always count on this wonderful place for decent pan seared or grilled seafood and steak steaks cooked properly with Belgian style fries. Their Caesar salad comes with optional anchovies. And when an extreme rush, you can just order a mixed chopped salad with your choice of proteins and be on your way. I happen to like places that can keep things simple and deliver every item with high-quality. That sums up Kendall's quite well.

Popped in for a quick bite before our show at Disney Hall. Food was good. Ambiance was also good. There's good music playing in the background. Service was good considering it was a busy Friday evening. Would most likely return if in the area. I recommend making reservations. They have an extended cocktail list.

So we were looking for a place to eat near the ahmansoun theater and Kendall's happened to be nearby. The French cuisine this place has to offer is a hit and a miss. The steak frites and french onion soup was absolutely delicious as the fries are most certainly deep fried and duck fat and has a texture to die for. The duck dish however was lacking and tough and just not wha I expect from a delicious duck. Dried and died. I would give this place another chance in the future! Try the steak frites!!!!

It's a pretty nice restaurant. We ordered their charcuterie and cheese to go with our wine. Sadly, there were no olives or blue cheese on the platter, so it was a bit of a letdown. Israel took care of us and he was friendly and engaged with us.

Good spot to grab a drink or dinner before heading to a show at the Music Center in DTLA. The staff is friendly and patient. I judge a bar by their old fashioned and this one did not disappoint. We got more snacky dishes like the cheese plate, brussel sprouts, tuna tar tar and broccoli. The bread plate was a little disappointing bc it was cold. The favorite was the fries, I think they may fry them twice. I'd stop by again if going to another show.

Horrible. Stay away. Just because they are conveniently located in the music center and just a few steps from Disney Concert Hall, does not make this a go to pre concert or theater dining establishment. Service is fine and very friendly-but don't waste your time and money ($$$) on this place. Food is mediocre at best. What a disappointment.

First let me say that we were attending a performance at the music center, so Kendal's was a logical choice. We tried to get reservations the night before for 5 o'clock and we're not able to do so. However, the day of the show they released more tickets and called us and said that we could get in if we wanted to come. Which was a little frustrating because we'd already made reservations at another restaurant. But since it was pouring down rain. We decided to go ahead and go to Kendall's. When we got there the place was empty so I'm not sure what the problem was with having a 5 o'clock reservation, but it allowed us to be waited on like queens. The manager and the weight staff and the bartenders everybody was fantastic. It's a beautiful restaurant And by the time we left, it was packed. We just got there early so we could make the 7 o'clock show. I was a little disappointed in the food. I love French food, but this was just mediocre French food. The one thing I had that was an amazing where the french fries. You have to order them. They are unbelievable. I also had muscles and they were pretty good but the steak was well done and I ordered it medium. They took it back and brought another one and it was rare. It's the equivalent of a flat iron steak so I guess maybe it's hard to control the temperature but it was $52 for the entrée and all it was with steak and french fries. My friend ended up ordering bad pudding which she ate most of and then complained that it wasn't real bread pudding. I was a little embarrassed, but they ended up taking it off the bill for her so she didn't have to pay for it. They have an excellent wine by the glass selection. I ended up ordering two glasses of a Malbec which was excellent. I would like to go back just for that. We got there and it was pouring down rain so I wanted to check my coat. They don't have a coat check, but the manager graciously took my code and put it somewhere safe for me and refuse to take a tip because he was management. I really want to give the place five stars because of the staff the ambience and the service was impeccable The only thing wrong with the food. But I'm gonna go back and try it again. Everyone deserves a second chance..

Beautiful restaurant, but the chicken was so badly cooked it gave me food poisoning from just a small bite. Truthfully I shouldn't have even had that much as it was gray and slimy. I sent it back immediately, but was shocked that something so bad would be allowed to be served. I was not charged, and the service was good, but I will not be eating there again.

I don't understand these mixed reviews because I had a fabulous time at Kendall's before heading to the Ahmanson for a show. From the moment I entered I was welcomed with cheerfulness and kindness, felt right at home! The restaurant is warm and cozy, like a bustling European bistro, which quickly becomes packed with theater patrons who dine here as it is super convenient to the theaters in the area. We had the chicken liver toast (sublime, put this in a jar and I will spoon it out like dessert), the beet salad, so fresh and delicious, salmon and seasonal vegetables (broccolini was on the menu this evening and it was perfectly charred) and the bread pudding for dessert. I had the big apple (x2) for a cocktail and it was so balanced and delicious, not overly sweet and packed the right punch on the strong meter. Special shout out to Kate our waitress. She not only made sure our food came out at the right cadence and timely but also ensured everything was timed so we could make it to the theater. We had a 6:30 reservation and a 3 course order got us out the door at 7:45! Parking if you're going to the theater is $10 cash only underneath the plaza.

Came here for a pre concert (at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion) lunch and was impressed by both the place and the food. Love the old fashion ambiance - very classy and spacious! The vibe is revived historic with a modern flair! Several great scenes for photos in the dining hall. Food is nice and I think reasonably priced for their location. Service is great- friendly and attentive, but can be a bit faster.... Overall a nice and pleasant experience. It's within walking distance to the Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Mark Taper Forum so a great location for theater and concert goes for pre or post event dining.

The service was excellent and the seating was comfortable for me, on the cushioned banquet seat, whereas my husband was very uncomfortable in the spindly wooden chair. I forgot to take a photo of the shrimp cocktail. After I deveined them, they tasted good. My tomato salad was OK. The tomatoes don't taste like they used to, and they were a little mushy, but the vinaigrette was good. My husband enjoyed his ceasar salad, after spending some time cutting up the chicken. Not my favorite place to eat, but it's convenient for the Ahmanson Theater.

What a wonderful and charming French restaurant in the heart of the downtown music district. Part of the cluster of restaurants that cater to those that are attending shows and plays, the food and drinks here are wonderful. For appetizers, we had the Shrimp cocktail, which was super fresh, the Green Eggs and Jambon (a unique twist on Deviled eggs), and Pei Mussels (so fresh and bright, aromatic, and tasty). I highly recommend also ordering the Grilled Bread Service (airy buttery rolls and toast!). For entrees, the Braised short rib will blow you away, it is just the perfect bite of comfort. The Spring Linguine is also an excellent light and bright pasta dish. Save room for desert because the Opera Cake and the Spiced Rum Fig cake are equally impressive bites to end your meal with. Can't wait to come back for another visit.

Five stars hands down!!! Danielle was such a great server; she was a delight. She gave us excellent suggestions. We had the to-die-for onion soup and the short ribs. Both excellent choices. The whipped mashers were so dreamy and the caramelized onion on top was a winner. The room is open and airy. I would have loved to try the Caesar salad: looked like a nice portion for two but we were short on time. All of that said the place is pretty pricy. If the food wasn't good I would have been mad but it was awesome.

Great staff! It's rare to mean genuine friendly staff. Not so many choices on the food which can be perfect for those like me who finds it difficult to decide when there's so many options. Setup is simple. Price is a bit pricey for a simple menu, big serving tho. Overall recommended esp. if you are going to LA Opera as it is just below it. Would go again if I'm in the area. (4.5/5)

We visited here on 02/27/2025 before a show at the Ahmanson, as so many people visit here before a show. I love the atmosphere of this place. When we arrived, there were no tables; however, we were able to sit at the bar, which was comfortable. Our party of two, shared the Beet Salad, which was delicious and the steak frites which were also yummy. (Oh, those golden crispy fries). We also shared bread pudding for dessert. The three stars are because the service was just ok. Being at the bar, I feel that we were often forgotten and had to always flag someone down for something. In addition, the prices are simply out of control here. Bread pudding $18? If you saw the size of it, you would be shocked too. $52 for steak frites. Again, if you saw the portion size, your head would explode. I can't justify coming back here again, as the prices just don't match up with the value.

I've eaten in this restaurant many times before and after shows at the music center or the Ahmanson and have always enjoyed it . (The new decor is not very appealing but OK) I made a reservation on open table for Dec 9th at 5 pm for an early show at the Colburn, but when we got to the restaurant it was locked, lights were on, no one inside or answering the phone. Is this place closing? Ended up ay San Laurel in the Grand. Way more expensive but great food and excellent service.

We have been hwre before. The service is always prompt and its proximity to disney hall and the broad make eating here ideal. But the food is boring. My GF salmon was dry with a speck of sauce. My chicken was drowning in a broth that would have bee better if it was halved and creamy. Just not worth another visit

Kendall's has been a special restaurant my family and I go to whenever we see a show at the Dorothy Chandler or Ahmanson theater, it's just downstairs from the theater. We have always loved the ambiance, but in recent years they have remodeled and it's a little brighter now, less intimate and premium. Net net, they can do better. We had 5:30pm reservations, one of the earliest seatings. Our server was great, but I think he could have checked on our foods a little more as we waiting over 40 mins for our foods. My husband got shrimp linguini, my daughter got the steak chimichuri and I got shrimp cocktail with a side of asparagus, we also shared a cheese board. 1. Both the shrimp linguini $34 and steak $52 tasted like it was waiting to be brought out. Not hot. 2. My asparagus came out fine. 3. My shrimp cocktail was no where to be seen. I saw it served st other tables but for some reason I didn't get mine. It turned out they ran out and they needed to cook more shrimp. I was fine with that reason, but I wished they told me sooner so I could order something else. There was another person, not sure if she was the manager, she came by to tell me and than offered us comp Brussel sprouts, I was grateful as I was hungry. Then we waited longer and I decided to just let my server know I'm good without the shrimp. He was very apologetic and immediately offered us dessert. Of course we took it and S they were bringing that out, my shrimp cocktail came out too. Any way, i don't think we will be back and we are super bummed about it. Even though the staff was nice, I think they could have done better. The plating of all there food needs some major help. They should know they are perceived and charge as a premium restaurant (we have seen celebrities there!) and these little details are so important. But besides all that the wait, the cold food, the Mon communication of food being out, was so disappointing. Thanks to the staff for the comps. I hope your chef will improve the quality and plating their food.

$26 scrambled eggs with ketchup, bacon, and home fried eggs. I think it's a little unfortunate that it's so over priced for such a basic, average meal. They brought me the wrong order at first as well so I had to wait a long time while the rest of my party ate to receive the meal I ordered. I would recommend trying a different restaurant if you are looking for a pre show meal.

Looking for an easy pre-show dinner? Kendall's delivers on convenience, speed, and service. AMBIENCE (4/5) Located on the ground level of DTLA's Music Center, which houses five performing arts venues, this large, multi-space French brasserie is a 1-minute Scotty Beam Me Up to your selected performance. Ample indoor, bar, and outdoor seating! FOOD (4/5) Solid fare. We popped by for quick nibbles, including: LOADED FRIES: crisp fries topped with shredded short rib and creamy mornay sauce, served with dipping ketchup and dijonnaise. FRENCH ONION SOUP: did the trick. Not the best we've had (but also far from the worst). SERVICE (4/5) Friendly, efficient. The restaurant's inside seating and bar were packed, but the hostess very kindly opened up a table for dinner. Our server confirmed our show's start time with us and accurately assured us that that food comes out fast, ie under 10-15 minutes. He checked in on us and brought the check quickly, allowing us to make the opera on time.

If I have the means (money and time), I would come back to have a meal. Prices are steep (expect to spend at least +$30 per entree) but portions seem generous from what I saw from the tables around me. The truffle fries were great. It had real shavings of truffle/seemed to be tossed in truffle oil too. Fries were crispy and lightly battered, with a great crunch. Think elevated Popeyes fries haha it was served with Dijonnaise and ketchup: personally, I would have liked more spice or vinegar (something acidic) in the dijonnaise to cut the richness and potency of the truffle. A little goes a long way, especially if using truffle oil! Gin-based drink (forgot the name but it's their most popular) was super strong.

I used to love this place but now everything tastes watered down and everything needs salt and flavor. Even my favorite French onion soup looked good but had no taste. I added a ton of salt and it was ok. The mussels were in a coconut broth that needed a hour more to marinate. Needed more coconut, salt and lime to begin with.... Server was nice but I won't come, back for my favorite soup. The salad looked good with shrimp that were frozen but plentiful. Very disappointed. I would have a beer or martini not my favorite soup anymore. PS the opera cake was wonderful !

Place has gotten worse and worse. Sadly one of the few options by the Ahmanson. Food was really bad. Had to send it back. Waitress was great though and understanding... almost like she expected it.

I give the bartender, Vlat, a perfect 5***** rating for excellent cocktails and a generous pour of the wines by the glass. But Kendall's will no longer be our go to before-the-theater-eatery. They used to have esthetically presented, delicious prepared, fresh food. Now they have food. Absolutely nothing good to say. Ever since the food service management and purveyors changed, nothing on the Plaza or at Kendall's is worth the time or money (well, the pizza at the plaza wine is halfway decent). Back to Kendall's... Beginning with the "bread service" for $10. The bread at the former Kendall's was a crusty, crunchy, delicious homemade French bread served in a perfectly fitted paper bag with perfect French butter. That is what I was expecting but instead got two pieces of heavily oiled grilled (partly burnt) sourdough bread and two Hawaiian style sweet bread buns, which a server referred to as "brioche". Except it looked more like a Hawaiian bun from Vons. Then came the Caesar salad, drenched in dressing, that would not surprise me if it came out of a bottle. Oh! The rusty lettuce! My final disappointment (and our reason for not ordering a main course) was the ahi tartare served with sesame crackers that looked exactly like the croutons on the Caesar salad sans the seeds. For this I give the restaurant a rating of 3. 5 for the bar 4 for the location , 2 for the food.

Kendall's Brasserie is taking advantage of its customers with over-priced food and menus that are difficult to read. One of their scams is to print the menu with the smallest font possible and the font color is one slight shade darker than menu background color. The prices are so faint that even the server couldn't read it! Their intention is to have people order without really knowing the prices. This practice is very sleazy and disrespectful to its customers. They served us bread at an extra cost; the server said it was $5 and when I got the bill they charged me $10. The server said we could share the "opera cake". But oddly enough it was so small it was hardly enough for one person. Next time we go to the Music Center we are going research restaurants that give a fair value and respect their customers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I discovered the next restaurant we are going to try that seems more casual and inviting than the big production and big rip-off at Kendall's. 5 stars for the location! Great place to grab a bite before a show and park in same lot as the Ahmnanson. 5 stars for friendly and quick service. Steak and fries was a 4 stars. My medium well, was overcooked, but I still enjoyed it! 2 stars for bread pudding. It was not good, I did not like the texture. Expensive and not good!

Great ambiance upgraded place. Brighter, clean-cut classic and spacious. Not that I didn't like the old one, very cozy and very classic. I wish I could say the same for the service...waiter is fine, nice and courtesy but so so so slow. Took us 20+ mins to get someone to take our orders. And another 25 mins to get my drinks (which I can see them at the bar, so close but yet I can't get my hand on them). Then the foods, it came out at least 40mins or more individually (even though I informed our server that we have a show to catch). The food came out lukewarm (except the salad) and tasteless, no seasoning. I was very disappointed since I came here quite often before any show in that complex (8X/yr). It used to be very attentive, exceptional foods and with modest prices. Now, it's Expensive (I get it,) but at least train your staffs to be more attentive and make sure they check on the drinks (I could have order more) and the foods plus make sure they came out more than just lukewarm. Good thing there are more choices within the plaza or the Corad (rooftop) right across the street or little Tokyo which is half a mile down the street with cheaper prices. I have a three cause I adores this place ALOT, a lot of memories plus great foods & drinks.

Kendall's has undergone renovations, but it still isn't the great affordable place I wish it was! There aren't a lot of choices by the Music Center and Walt Disney Concert Hall, so we decided to try the new Kendall's. It wasn't crowded, which should have been a sign. Before, it was hard to get a bar seat or table pre-show. The menu is much smaller, and quite expensive. We all ordered the French Onion soup. My friend said it was "hotter than the surface of the sun" which was good for the cheese. But the flavor was really lacking. It didn't have a rich flavor at all, and it definitely needed salt. It really didn't taste of much. The crispy fries and the Brussel sprouts, however, were delicious. None of us tried an entree, so maybe those are better? Decent wine by the glass list.

Two stars equates to "could've been better." The positive: Food was tasty. The negatives: Way overpriced. $10 for bread. Over $40 for a main course Very noisy

Be careful they add gratutity automatically and didn't not disclose it. They will ask for extra tip at the end of your bill. I had to go to the bar for service and ask for my bill. They need to staff better at this location. Service sucked at the bar. I don't ever recommend coming here. Better off going to taco bell

To be honest, I would probably rate it 3.5 stars on food alone. However, their fast, efficient, and attentive service bumps it up to 4 stars for me. We shared a cheese plate; great variety and tasty! I had the French onion soup; there was plenty of cheese and adequate flavor, but I've had better. It tasted a little heavy on the alcohol; perhaps there was too much cooking wine. I also had short rib; the short rib itself was tasty, flavorful and tender, and there were plenty of nicely cooked veggies on the side (green beans and broccoli rabe). However, the veggies were generally under seasoned; they could have used some salt. The service was great: fast and efficient though this is still a nice fine dining establishment. I would come here again.

Kendall's Brasserie has always been hit or miss for me. It's really only one of two proper spots on the Music Center campus, which is worth going to. I've been back several times, post-pandemic. On this particular visit, the pre-show crowd was about 50% capacity and we were the only couple sitting at the bar. The food came out in good time, and it was all excellent. We ordered a Salad and two starters to share. The Beet Salad is fantastic (spring greens mix, roasted beets, candied walnuts, basil oil and buttermilk dressing). The Tuna Tartare is also very good, but it was the Cajun Shrimp Starter that stole the show. Black Tiger Shrimp, Andouille Sausage, Peppers, Onions, Cajun Tomato Sauce, Lemon and Baguettes. This dish is a meal by itself, and it has some good spicy heat on it. (I LOVE spicy, but they should make mention of it in the menu). The Cajun Shrimp is an excellent (spicy) dish! The service was friendly, and Eden behind the bar is awesome!! A very good performance at Kendall's Brasserie.

I don't know what happened to this restaurant but my experience on Sunday for lunch before the Opera was unacceptable. One person got the wrong order. We had to get up 3 times to get a waiter's attention. When, finally, the correct order arrived, it was (that's how I can describe it). We returned and, thankfully, we were not charged for. The only dish pretty good was a tuna salad croissant. It took forever to get the bill and, finally, we decided to get up and stand by the cashier to get it. Not a pleasant lunch.

What a disaster! Euthanize this nag and put it out of its misery! Kendall's was obviously never a great restaurant. What it had was a terrific location, if you had to be at a show in one hour. That's all it was good for. The drinks were fine. The food was... okay. And the prices were high. But... my God! Now it's like visiting dystopia. The owners have clearly given up on life, and they are cutting all corners. The restaurant now has just FOUR ENTREES. Four! I'm not exaggerating! I've never been in an expensive joint in my life ($50 items) that literally only has four entrees for sale. What nerve! "We'll take your money, but we don't want to have to hire anybody in the kitchen!" Yikes! Put a bullet in it! Go anywhere else! You think I'm exaggerating? We needed to get our food quickly to make it to American Idiot at the Taper! Kendall's hit all the marks. The food is down to earth French brasserie and so delicious! I ordered the Balsamic Brussels and the Beet Salad. The goat cheese on the Brussels was just the right touch and the candied almonds on the beet salad gave such a satisfying crunch. My daughter ordered the Steak Frites; the steak was juicy and flavorful with an amazing sauce!

Sorry, the drinks are watered down and the food is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. I don't mind paying $52.00 for a good steak, but this was more like brisket. If you order medium rare, you get rare. If you order medium, you get well done. The chopped salad was past its garbage date, and you pay extra for bread. The fig cake was nasty. Hey the coffee is good! No complaints about the service. This place is clearly taking advantage of its proximity to the Center Theatre Group. We deserve better options than what we are currently getting.. even the shows are beginning to suck. Was that Hamlet I saw, or a bad episode of Columbo?

We used to enjoy coming here all the time before the opera. Given other options around, we may not be back. I know things have changed in the last few years everywhere so maybe Kendall just need some time to catch back up. We were here last year and we had a much better experience like we used to. Service: while she seemed nice. The service is really not what it used to be. Perhaps she was a new server and was learning and that is ok. At least she was nice. Food: PULL APART BREAD BASKET with HERB GARLIC BUTTER. --I did not expect to get 4 rolls, like you can buy at the store or we thought it was Hawaiian rolls.. misleading name. CRISPY FRIES with CHOPPED PARSLEY, KETCHUP, DIJONNAISE --This was ok. Both my friends got SALMON BEURRE BLANC ATLANTIC SALMON FILET, CRISPY CAULIFLOWER, ASPARAGUS, FRISÉE SALAD, BASIL OIL, BEURRE BLANC, SALMON ROE --it was overcooked, too dry. They were not happy. BRAISED SHORT RIB WHIPPED MASHED POTATO, BROCCOLINI, ROASTED CARROT, HORSERADISH CRÉME, SHORT RIB JUS, BLACK TRUFFLE FRISÉE ---i got this and it was good LEMON TART - this was tasty Drinks: the cocktails were extremely limited. And I don't think they actually have a bartender. we asked if they could make a drink with elderflower or make a Paloma, we saw the guy in the back looking it up on his phone what it was. That was a bad sign. So we just ordered a glass of wine.

Obviously for theatre goers Kendall's has the convenience factor. Being located within the Ahmanson Dorothy Chandler and Mark Taper Forum site. Atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Food could have been a tad bit better but maybe was an off night.

Bummer. All the amazing and affordable side orders, Brussels sprouts, Mac n Cheese, gone.

Ugg food and expensive it's convenient t to the music center but that's all. I would not go back.

The wait staff is very sweet and kind. We went before a show and they made sure to take care of us. We had the charcuterie plate. A simple thing that is either done well or sadly. Theirs is really nice. The dining room is super cute, very comfortable. Little was left to be desired.

Perfect dinner spot when attending a show/concert at the Disney Concert Hall or the Center Theatre Group (Ahmanson, Taper, Douglas). Here are some helpful info and tips: 1. Parking - underground parking at CTG or LADWP building (111 N. Hope Street) across CTG 2. Service - good customer experience 3. Reservations - on Open Table and recommended if you don't want to feel rushed if attending a show/concert 3. Food - French food so can be on the "heavy"'side so we chose the following: Mussels with side of fries (moules-frites) - family favorite and we order if on menu. Mussels are fresh and fries cooked to perfection. Shareable and can be an appetizer or a meal in itself French onion soup - delicious and cheese was so gooey Beet Salad - fresh and yummy. Came with yellow and red beets, carmelized almonds, goat cheese and substantial serving Note: I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years . I am thankful it survived the pandemic for we need classic places like this that delivers good food and service. My hubby and I had our doubts when I saw other reviews but I wanted to give it a chance and glad we did for we enjoyed our pre-concert dinner!

I was very disappointed in this place because my burger was pink on the inside and tasteless. Not to mention burned on the bottom. Bar tender swapped it out for a Caesar salad but I was very disappointed. Even my baked cauliflower tasted burnt. It was so dry I had to mix it in with my Caesar salad. Very unappealing and disappointing.

Not the ideal way to start a theater night. It was a calm evening at the restaurant and still the orders arrived to the table incorrect and not hot. Major letdown. This used to be our usual pre-theater stop but after this dining ordeal and spending our visit attempting to locate servers, I simply can't believe it's the identical place. Can't recommend.

Can it get any worse. I don't think it can, even though it seems to try. The service is terrible. The hostess seems very busy with her social life and not so much with the few customers they have left. The servers don't know the menu. The menu has changed and not at all for the better. The food is served cold or not fully cooked. The French Onion Soup tastes like a drunk made it , so filled with red wine. I used to love this place, like last September, but as soon as the holidays came it just got worse and worse. They should close it, fire everyone, especially the chef and start over from scratch. We have given them 3 chances since December and we are now done.
