I stayed at this hotel with my family for a day during a visit to Kolkata. Having grown up in the city and returning after nearly three decades, I booked this property with a lot of anticipation. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations.
We checked in on the afternoon of the 25th and were allotted a room whose window directly faced a nearby high-rise, with clothes and undergarments drying in full view. I immediately contacted the reception to request a room change. This required explaining the same concern to three different people, only to be informed that a change was not possible as the room was already “in use”—despite it being barely 15–20 minutes since check-in and before we had even unpacked. The standard response of the hotel being “sold out” followed. This interaction was inefficient and left a poor first impression.
The room itself was quite small for the price paid (₹11,000+ / ~USD 130). By comparison, we had stayed at ITC Sonar just days earlier for a slightly lower tariff, with a significantly larger room and a pleasant city view. The bathroom here was even more disappointing—cramped, poorly planned, and requiring one to shower standing inside a bathtub.
Breakfast the next morning was decent in terms of food, but the service lacked structure, attentiveness, and warmth.
Overall, this was a disappointing stay that did not justify the price point. The only reason for a 2-star rating is the excellent central location, which is the strongest positive of this property.
