"This Victorian country house may have a Grade II listing but it’s been smartly decked out with designer fabrics and furnishings in the colours of its original stained glass windows. Go for one of the chic, detached Garden Suites." - Tablet Hotels

We visit North Devon on an annual basis, but wanted to try somewhere different for a Sunday roast. After a Google search we found Kentisbury Grange. It’s a lovely picturesque setting and worth the drive to get there. The food was lovely and initially the service was spot on. Our only gripe was that the service was slow between our main and dessert courses. Great value overall though.

Best place ever, went on vacation to England. Definitely worth staying if you love birds especially ducks, recommend bringing dried worms for them. Rooms are great, bath and shower, washing machine, fridge and freezer and just such a beautiful area. Services are really good, lovely people just a bit of waiting and a few mistakes but things happen.

Overall we had an amazing stay at Kentisbury Grange. The staff on site were very nice and professional. The main restaurant building is nice and the food very good. Cheap EV charging on site was a bonus and the site is very dog friendly. We had a garden room with a hot tub (which was great). The room had a lovely design but in places the room and surrounding areas could do with a refurbishment. The only main downside was the bath tap spilled directly onto the floor and the shower was blocked causing the bathroom to partially flood. We did report it but it didn’t get seen to.

The whole experience was a perfect blend of outstanding service and tranquility. The large well appointed lodges were extremely clean and comfortable, surrounded by a variety of trees providing shade and a unique feeling of being in your own personal space. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant offered a wide selection of meals or snacks to suit your personal tastes.

Lovely relaxing place to stay. The room was especially nice and spacious. Super dinner in the restaurant both Sunday roast and the steaks. Atmosphere was slightly lacking as it was quiet. God location to visit different beaches and towns.

When visiting North Devon, this is a must visit. |Beautiful hotel. Welcoming. Great service. One truly relaxes and feels special. |Breakfast was a real treat. |No mass production here.|Details and care with every dish ordered |Sunday carvery - go for the vegan option if you want something different. |Amazing giant Yorkshire pudding , filled with camembert.|Absolutely delicious. Unique to this gorgeous establishment.

Great location but breakfast poor - lack of fruit, no plain yogurt, only fill cream milk, poor coffee; some mould in room. Won’t stay again as stayed before and already fed back on the breakfast before.

Disappointing Experience for a Very Special Occasion||We stayed at this hotel over the weekend as bridesmaids for our best friend Kathy, who had booked to stay here with her partner Marcus for their wedding weekend. Sadly, from start to finish, the service and management were a huge letdown.||Communication from the admin and management team was consistently poor and caused unnecessary stress in the lead-up to what should have been the happiest weekend for Kathy and Marcus. Kathy had booked a suite for both Friday and Saturday night, and the restaurant which was intended to host her wedding party for a celebratory meal on the Saturday. Despite this being arranged well in advance, the lack of communication and follow-through from the management left her and Marcus in an incredibly difficult situation.||While the head chef tried to salvage the arrangements in the final month, he then informed Kathy just days before the wedding (on the Wednesday) that he had parted ways with the venue on bad terms. This left Kathy and Marcus completely stranded, having to make last-minute catering arrangements—something no couple should be dealing with days before their wedding.||In terms of accommodation, both suites (ours and Kathy’s) were disappointing. The rooms were dusty and had cobwebs in the windows. Despite the heatwave, the towel rail heaters had been left on, making the rooms unbearably hot. In Kathy’s suite—the room where she was meant to get ready for her wedding and spend her first night as a married couple—the ceiling LED lights didn’t work, and the blinds were broken. Not only was this inconvenient, but it also impacted the atmosphere and photos of such a special moment.||There has been no apology or attempt from the management to make amends or take responsibility for how poorly everything was handled. We are all so deeply disappointed—not just for ourselves, but especially for Kathy and Marcus, who had placed so much trust in this venue for one of the most important weekends of their lives.||What should have been a joyful and memorable experience was tainted by a lack of professionalism and care. We cannot recommend this venue based on our experience.
