This place is so comfortable. The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. I really appreciated the kitchenette becasue I stayed for a week. the property is charming and well kept. I made use of the washing machine and I hung my clothes out to dry in the nice weather.

Typical roadside motel. Room large and comfortable, basic but with all the essentials. More expensive than other options in and around Sheffield, but has a kitchen with cooking basics to save money on eating out. Parking in front of every room. Quiet. Walking distance into town, or a minute’s drive. Grocery store and two petrol stations nearby, along with a few pubs. Cheap laundry ($4 for wash and dry, need $1 coins), which unfortunately wasn’t working when I tried to use it so the owner washed it herself which was nice. Housekeeping only on one out of four days. About an hour to Cradle Mountain. Other lovely walking trails closer. Good base from which to explore northern Tasmania.

I booked the hotel, didn't get to stay, as the booked room experinced some pipe issuees. Deb, however, arranged an alternative hotel at nearby for me with similar price, that I am happy with. I appreciate the thoughtfulness.

Farm near by. Opportunity to pet horses and alpaca next door. Clean, neat, friendly, and comfy. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed our two night stay at Kentish Hill retreat. Great town to stay if traveling to Cradle Mountain. The main room was very spacious and the bedroom a good size two. Kids loved the bunk beds. The place is located just at the end of the Main Street of town. Owners have a couple of Apacas and the kids loved that we were able to feed (free and provided by the owners at reception). Full Kitchen amenities were simple but good enough to cook dinner. We were given two little bottles and of milk too which is was helpful for cereal in the morning.

We very much enjoyed our short stay at Kentish Hills. We were welcomed with a smile 😊 The property was very clean and had all that we needed for our stay. We enjoyed our picnic on the lawn watched by the Alpacas. We would certainly recommend this property for anyone visiting the beautiful township of Sheffield. 10/10 👌😊👍

Kids enjoyed feeding the Alpacas. Family owned and operated. The people were really friendly and nice. Kentish is a small town. We would definitely recommend staying here for people visiting the cradle mountain area.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with Kentish Hills Retreat. As a cheap motel, I was expecting a mediocre stay, but we were actually really comfortable. The rooms were spacious, the amenities were great (full kitchen, bbq area, comfortable beds, seating areas). The rooms had solid brick between the walls, reducing sounds from neighboring suites and nearby road noise. My only gripe was the dusty smell in the bed spread. I didn't want to turn the heater on, so I needed the extra blanket for warmth. I wish I had brought my sanitizing spray with me so that I could douse the bed in that. Oh well. My immune system lived to tell the tale. All up, we booked 3 suites using hotels.com. My room was the deluxe, which had a twin (single) bed and a queen, and we had my husband and I with our baby and preschooler. My sister had an apartment room, with her 2 young boys in the bedroom (bunk beds + queen bed), and she and her husband in the lounge room on the queen bed in there with their baby in a bassinet. My parents had the standard room which just had a queen bed. Great access to local attractions - about an hour to Cradle Mountain, 30 minutes to Mole Creek Caves, and about 30 minutes to Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm.

Yelp
A nice little motel with friendly and very hospitable staff. On site washer and dryer facilities, a gas BBQ pit, clean washrooms with plenty of other extras make this place a great place to stay in while exploring the cradle Mountain area.
