The Country's Creepiest Haunted Corn Mazes for Halloween

"I discovered that Kersey Valley Spookywoods is a multidimensional nightmare through the fictional, fire-charred town of Kersey Valley—featuring the Harvest of Fear corn maze as well as a witch’s house, an abandoned sanitarium, a vampire crypt, and a terrifying tram ride through deep woods filled with werewolves and zombies." - Olivia Young Olivia Young Olivia Young is a journalist and slow travel advocate. My family went Oct 3rd, opening weekend. First off we drove over 200 miles to go to this so we made the day out of it in Greensboro and had a lot of fun. We got our tickets on Vet Tix (thank you Vet Tix!! And donors!!) so we figured why not let’s do a little day trip! We try to go to 4-6 haunts a year and we are always looking for new ones to try that we haven’t done, this haunt is not new but it is to us. Parking is easy, we showed up early 7:30, parked got in line. By 9pm we were entering the house. I think being opening night they did start later which is fine because while in line the DJ kept us dancing and they tossed t shirts and beads out. The scare actors were engaging and we got tons of selfies/pictures. We even spoke to the very nice lady directing the line for quite a bit and she gave us some history about the haunt and location. She was very very friendly and nice. They have port o potties in the line area which is nice. I won’t give any spoilers to the haunt BUT it was amazing! It was very long and time consuming and not because it was packed or crowded. We were in a small group and it was perfect. The amount of actors was incredible and the details were amazing. We had more fun here and more scares here than we did at HHN Universal studios. I don’t want to take anything away from HHN because that’s a different style of haunt but we had way more engagement with the actors here, so many pictures, they played with us and made us feel so special! We will be back and want to check out Christmas activities here too. Also, they have real bathrooms in the midway so you can wash your hands and eat their YUMMY donuts after. They have drinks and treats. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves to have some fun during the spooky season. Thank you for a fun evening!!

once you get inside it’s super fun, the only problem is definitely the line. stood in the queue for almost 2 hours. we got the 9-10 slot and didn’t leave until almost 1am. if you don’t want to wait or are planning to do something after i wouldn’t recommend going. other than that everything was great and my whole group enjoyed walking through the attractions. just wanted to add, the DJ for the line is a great touch. the line isn’t boring i will say that. actors will come up and interact with you in line and it’s still fun even though you are waiting. overall i would definitely recommend to visit if you haven’t already. this is my second year coming back and ive enjoyed it both times and will continue to visit in the future!

We had a fun experience. The sets are polished and elaborate. The actors did a good job of "blocking/distracting" us to keep space between groups, without ruining the pacing. Some newer elements I hadn't seen before, which worked really well. Definitely one of the top haunt experiences in the south east. We appreciated the different elements of walking, riding, walking. Corn, houses, caves, swamp, etc.

Always a fun time at this haunt! If I wasn’t screaming, I was smiling. They try their best to spread groups apart which I think is awesome - not a lot of haunts do this anymore and it adds to the overall experience and prevents scares from being ruined by the group in front. This haunt feels family-owned in the best way and you can tell the team enjoys what they do. I’ll be returning year after year without a doubt. If you’re thinking of giving them a try, don’t hesitate.

First of all, Spookywoods (Kerseyvalley Attractions) holds a giant place in my heart. From humble beginnings to the awesome spooktackular haunt fest it is, Spookywoods is a great place to spend a weekend night in October. The sets are well thought out and planned meticulously and forever expanding (Seriously, it's like the Winchester Mystery House ..never finished being built). This year they have been working like busy bees to open up 'HAUNT COUTURE' a new spooky retail shop that will be open all year (of course while Kersey Valley is open ..think fall and Christmas). ICONS is a staple set and has some of the best touches from the slasher movies. Bates Motel is a nice touch and I love the immersion. And the actual 'SPOOKY WOODS' part (the rest of the haunt after you get off the tram after ICONS) has some awesome scenes as well. From Zombies, to Clowns and even MAN EATING PLANTS (beware, you may end up in the pumpkin patch as a prop). The actors are well trained and you can tell, LOVE what they do. When they get into character, they STAY in character until the makeup comes off (some even stay in character on their social media pages and interact with you there as well....a nice touch, IMO). The DJ in the line queue keeps the crowd pumped with music, beads and tshirt give aways. The staff elsewhere is friendly and helpful. The food (especially the coffee from Endoras) is great! The bathrooms are clean and we'll manageable as well. I honestly can't rave enough about this place. They also offer (at other times), a Fall Festival, Christmas, Escape Rooms and even Zip Lining. Seriously, fun for the whole family.

UPDATE: SUCH AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY FIXED MY PICTURE AND IM SO THANKFUL. FAST RESPONSES AND AMAZING RESULTS. IF I COULD GIVE 10STARS I WOULD. THANK YOU SPOOKYWOODS❤️ I would give this a 5 star but unfortunately they messed up our photo and I have reached out for it to be fixed so we will see what happens. Otherwise very awesome attraction. I have came for the last 3 years and I think this is the best year yet for sure! Love all the little shops and enjoy the vibe. We had a group of 4 last year and this year we had a group of 7 and they was awesome with keeping us together which I appreciated. We enjoy our adventure every year . The monsters are all amazing and never disappoint!!! Love how interactive they are. ❤️ spookywoods is amazing hands down

Yelp
The first time I went to Spooky Woods in 2017 I instantly fell in love and now we make it a mission go back every October even if we have to drive an hour and a half to get there. The atmosphere is unlike any other haunted attraction I have been to. As soon as you enter the property the tone for a haunted adventure is immediately set and it feels like you just walked into Halloween Town. The DJ and club spooky with the music and all the lights as you wait in line is such a fun experience but we highly recommend the VIP/Immediate Access tickets if you want to skip the line because the wait times are normally 1-2 hours for general. It's well worth the extra $20. They change it up so it's a new experience every year but every time I promise you will literally feel like you were dragged into a horror movie with their top tier scenic design, costumes, makeup, props, and insane special effects. You can tell how much effort and detail is put in and how much the owner Tony and his team care about making it A+ quality. They are active on their socials and post behind the scenes stuff sometimes so give them a follow. Also check the website before you go if it's your first time especially the FAQ section. They allow small purses. For safety you go through security and a metal detector when you first enter. They will check your bag and you will empty your pockets. Smoking of any kind is not allowed on the property. They recommended arriving a half hour early to make time for traffic, parking, and getting settled in. They have nice bathrooms so definitely go before you get in line because all they have in line is a porta potty and the attraction itself normally lasts a little over an hour. They have scare actors roaming around to interact with guests and take pictures. They also take a group picture before you enter the attraction and they are available to purchase after. They are always good quality photos! They have a few grab and go concession options where you can get fudge, candied nuts, funnel cakes, soft pretzels, popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, chicken tenders, etc. I think the must try is the apple cider donuts. They are so delicious! They also serve alcohol. Grab a 21+ band when you first enter to purchase. Kersey Valley also does other attractions during the day. We have only been to the pumpkin patch and corn maze but they have so much more! Check them out! You won't regret it!

Yelp
We came Sunday night! The family and I enjoyed the icons section! The bates stuff was over the top accurate! Likely the best set/scene I've ever seen the kids loved the actors at the beginning before entering. The witch and the warlock were very menacing and got them pretty good. They even scared adults just by walking past. The amusing part for me and my wife was the scares from the cowboy and the orange hair cowgirl. They were chasing folks, cracking jokes, they even made us jump and laugh. This was our first visit and now I wanna come back every year! Great job to the entire show. Yall put on a spectacle of a performance to behold
