As a local from Amritsar, I feel compelled to share my thoughts with fellow travelers. This dhaba, once a beloved gem of the city renowned for its rich and flavorful Dal, has sadly fallen short of its former glory in my recent visit. The Dal, which used to be slow-cooked overnight to perfection, now lacks the authentic taste that made it so special. The menu has also become quite generic, blending in with offerings from other restaurants and losing the unique charm it once had. Moreover, I noticed that the crowd primarily consisted of tourists and PR, which detracted from the authentic dining experience. If you’re seeking an unforgettable culinary experience in Amritsar, I would recommend exploring other eateries that still hold true to the city’s rich culinary heritage. Save your time and taste buds from disappointment by venturing elsewhere.

Kesar Da Dhaba – A Legacy That Falls Short of the Hype The dal makhani was rich and creamy, but nothing extraordinary compared to other dhabas in Punjab. Sarson ka saag was nowhere near to authentic as they claim. Ambience is great and staff is well trained and courteous. Overall, while the food is decent, it’s not the best Punjabi meal I’ve had. Worth a visit for the experience, but don’t go in expecting a mind-blowing meal.

Best Thali in Amritsar. 1. Fulfillment - Got exactly what I wanted. My meal was the exact image as the menu pictures and posters. 2. Cleanliness - extremely clean and indoors. Accessible sink with water. Good seating and spacing. 3. Service - Unfortunately quite rare in my visit with restaurants, but the server here was extremely attentive. Gave water without asking, checked up on us every 4-5 minutes, and gave us side refills automatically. Great service! I got my dream Thali here and would recommend this to any other travelers in beautiful Amritsar

Had heard a great deal about this place and so we had gone there for dinner but we did not enjoy it. It was said that they serve authentic food and so maybe we didn’t like it but tbh the food was way too oily . They didn’t have lassi (which I believe is authentic indeed) that day. They even didn’t have rajma. The servers were nice and kind. The place is small and always overcrowded. God knows why. We also tried saag and olo which was nice. The parathas were nice too. However , would not visit this place again. It also didn’t seem too hygienic . So, if you’re looking for a good place to sit relax and have your food at ease , this is not your place.

Delicious food. Generous portions. Air-conditioning makes meal time more enjoyable. Fairly clean tables. No chairs with back rest. (Please refer to the attached picture.) Bowls and spoons were not washed properly. Abundant paper napkins were given, though, so we wiped our bowls and spoons before eating. I have taken one star away for the dirty and smelly lane that leads to the restaurant. For some, it can ruin their appetite. All in all, one visit is a MUST.

The Food is very average specially there famous dal fry. It was way Good a decade ago. Lacha Paratha, Chana masala and Gulab Jamun was average and Palak Paneer was bad. Overall an disappointing.

Tastiest sarson ka saag, other dishes were above average too. Quality☑️ - (3/5) Quantity🍲 - (3.5/5) Ambience🏡 - (3/5) Taste😋 - (3.5/5) Service🤵 - (3/5) Worth the money💰 - (3.5/5) Differently can give it a try, expect rush on weekends waiting can go up to 30-60 mins. Good token based system. Sarson ka saag was a bit different and tasty 😋, tried paneer and laccha parantha they were good as well. Nothing great but worth the try.

Poor seating arrangements between 4-7. They have a line of customers waiting outside for the tables to get free on the ground floor but they wouldn’t allow to open the tables on the first floor even though they have plenty of staff roaming around inside who have no clients to attend. Ridiculous! Never coming back here! Ghee only doesn’t mean a taste, especially, for the Palak Paneer adulterated with turnip leaves.
