Kesar Da Dhaba is one of those legendary places in Amritsar that you hear so much about—and when it comes to taste, it really does live up to the hype. I tried their kulchas with chole and a side of lassi, and the flavors were absolutely on point. The food was rich, buttery, and full of that traditional Punjabi taste you expect when visiting a place with so much legacy. That said, the experience wasn’t all smooth. The biggest downside was the wait time. It took quite a while just to get a seat, and the place was packed even during non-peak hours. It’s definitely not the kind of spot you can drop into for a quick meal—you’ll need patience. Another thing to note is the pricing. For a place that gives a very traditional dhaba vibe, the prices were surprisingly steep. You’re definitely paying for the brand and the reputation. Still, the food does hold its ground, so it’s not a complete letdown, but it would’ve felt better if the service matched the cost. Overall, if you're in Amritsar and want to experience iconic Punjabi food, Kesar Da Dhaba is worth a try. Just go prepared for a wait and maybe a slightly heavier bill. But once the food hits the table, especially those kulchas, it does make you forget the hassle, at least for a little while

We tried the special thali here, but it wasn’t as tasty as it was hyped up to be. The best item was the Palak Paneer; everything else was quite average. The boondi in the raita wasn’t cooked properly, and the kabuli chana and chole had a strange taste—almost like they’d been stored in a perfumed container. Overall, it was just an average experience.

This was my first visit to this place. My brother suggested it. Won’t lie initially I was like why we are walking so much. But finally reached and was amazed to see the rush. Waiting time was huge. However food is served really fast. We ordered paneer, dal makhani, kadi with roti and rice. The food was really good. But daal makhani was too oily... It’s a very old place so, I am not sure about the food served in the past. Currently it is good, worth waiting. If you are among those who love eating quite place then this place is not for you. It’s crowded and noisy. You won’t able to bring your vehicle here. So, if you are with elder people then do take auto to reach here. There are a lot of small shops for gulab Jamun, jalebi etc for ur sweet craving. Price are reasonable here.

Visited the iconic Kesar Da Dhaba and tried the Gobhi Paratha Thali which came with chana, raita, mix daal, and salad. We also tried their lassi. The food was overall tasty — especially the Gobhi Paratha and Chana, which were flavorful and satisfying. However, I personally didn’t enjoy the daal much. The place is located in narrow lanes and has a long waiting time, especially during peak hours. The service was quite slow, likely due to the heavy rush and high number of customers. Worth trying for the experience and food, but be prepared for some waiting and a bit of crowd.

A visit to Kesar Da Dhaba is like stepping into a legacy of authentic Punjabi flavors. The laccha paratha, served crisp and golden, paired beautifully with the rich and creamy dal makhani, which had a deep, slow-cooked essence that lingered with every bite. The palak paneer was another highlight—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, offering a hearty and wholesome taste. Accompanied by tangy pickles and onions, every element on the plate added to the experience. The old-school charm of this legendary dhaba, combined with its soul-satisfying food, makes it a must-visit in Amritsar.

Visited this gem in Amritsar a few days ago, and trust me, it’s a must-visit! We found this place through Google and it totally lived up to the hype. The setup gives you old-school Amritsar vibes — felt like stepping into a piece of history. The way everything is arranged gives off strong Kesar Da Dhaba feels. We ordered their thali, and every bite was worth it! The aroma of the dal, sabzi, paratha, and lacha was just incredible — full of authentic flavours. If you’re in Amritsar, this place is a must-try for a true, traditional food experience. Highly recommended!

Amazing food, even our kids were left speechless. A must try spot in Amritsar. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Large portions. The mixed thali was a great sampler of their best dishes.

Very crowded area but once a try for authentic cuisines. The food looks very delicious but for someone from Pune, it’s heavy & it’s difficult to finish the Thali. As compared to our region, this food has low salt & masala/spice but, I liked the texture of Laccha Paratha & the combination of dishes to try with it.
