Can always count on Kettlemans to make a tasty bagel sandwich. I tried the cheese steak and it was quite decent. Much prefer this to the chain sub places. Dining spaces are quite decent too. Best of all it's open 24/7

Google
Bagels are good. Unlike whatabagel Kettlemans’ bagels are thinner and crustier. I tried the Kettlemans special (salmon). It could have had a bit more salmon but I enjoyed it. They are open 24/7 which makes them a great takeout place. Seating is limited and not super pleasant for a breakfast for friends but great choice for takeouts. I think they are also more invested on that. Would come back for a casual bite.

Loved the garlic bagel! Super flavorful with rich smoked salmon (though I’d skip the olive next time). Cool to watch them make bagels through the glass—such a fun old-school spot!

Google
Horrible first-time experience. Ordered their vegan lox bagel and coffee through Uber Eats. Coffee was NOT packaged properly - the lid was taped on and it was put in a plastic bag, with nothing to keep it upright. My order arrived drenched in spilled coffee and looking disgusting. The sandwich tasted good, but $16 is too much for a tiny, barely toasted bagel. My coffee was lukewarm - so gross. They need to ensure their coffee arrives HOT and not spilled everywhere. Glad I got a refund from Uber Eats.

Google
Kettleman's Bagel is a bagel spot in downtown Toronto. They have a variety of bagels, spreads and sandwiches. The service is cheerful and helpful. You don't feel rushed. The space is clean and well lit. It's unusual as it snakes around further back with more seating. The food was only average. I didn't taste the bagel and it was rather dry. I'm not a bagel connoisseur but it didn't really inspire me. It was just ok. 3 x 🥯🥯🥯

Google
Smashing IT! 🥯 Finally! Found an amazing spot in a cute historical location for some FABULOUS bagels! It's so nice to finally find a place that understands and knows how to make quality bagels. If anyone truly understands the art of bagel making, they would know that you have to boil the bagel first in honey water before it goes into the oven. It's the only way you're going to get that crispy outside and chewy soft inside. I also love the fact that you can watch them make the bagels step by step right in front of you. Great options for how you like your bagels with amazing cream cheeses! Excellent customer service. Very friendly, and I appreciate how they passionate they are about bagels 🥯

Google
Bagels look amazing! Been waiting to try this place and it didn’t disappoint. Would come again!

Google
Bagel was good! It's not too expensive - I got a breakfast sesame bagel for about 5 dollars and it was pretty good. It was seasoned well and exactly what I had expected. The place itself is nice and clean and I like the fact that you can see all the bagels being made. Service was fast and good. Recommended.

Yelp
Fresh, Montreal-style bagels! Nuff said. If you'd rather fly/drive/train/goldbelly to Viateur or Fairmount for your morning bagel, be my guest.

Yelp
Kettleman's Bagels is an interesting spot for a Canadian bagel experience, but as someone from New York, I definitely noticed some differences. I noticed the lit up sign and big windows, as I drove past and was heading to where I stayed for the duration of my trip. I decided to walk over and try it out the next day for breakfast. The bagels are fresh and made in house, which is great, but they weren't quite what I'm used to. I ordered a turkey sandwich on a herb and cheddar bagel, toasted, and found the dough a bit too compact and crumbly. It wasn't soft or fluffy like I prefer, but maybe toasting the bagel was where I went wrong. One thing I loved was being able to see the bagels being made through a big window, it's always nice to know your food is fresh. Plus, they're open 24 hours, which is very convenient. The service really stood out; the man taking my order was incredibly kind and patient, even with all my custom requests. I ordered five sandwiches: three Westerns, one breakfast bagel, and the turkey sandwich, with 4 out of 5 of the sandwiches having modifications, and everything was ready in about 10 minutes. I was given a restaurant beeper, while I waited, so I decided to check out this Booster Juice across the street, which I also tried for the first time. Overall, while I wouldn't necessarily go back if I had other breakfast options, Kettleman's is not a bad place to find your breakfast. They have fresh bagels, friendly service, and 24-hour availability, so that alone makes it worth a visit if you're curious.

Yelp
Came here after visiting the holiday market at Stackt across the street, and was surprised to find the restaurant quite empty even though it was dinnertime. I ended up getting the Kettleman's Special (around $12), which consists of smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomato and red onion served with garlic olives, on a garlic bagel. It hit the spot as someone who loves a good lox bagel, and service was quite fast. There's a good amount of seating at the back, and I love how they also sell baked goods, lots or cream cheese spread, and offer a variety of bagels like blueberry.

Yelp
Kettleman's Bagel in downtown Toronto is a must-visit for bagel lovers! The fresh bagels are absolutely amazing--perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. You can customize your bagel with a variety of toppings, making each visit a new experience. Plus, the coffee is delicious and pairs wonderfully with the bagels. Highly recommend for a satisfying breakfast or a quick bagel sandwich. Awesome environment and cool the see the bagel making process right through their open Kitchen. Also, Their hot pepper cream cheese is fantastic. Def try that with their freshly made everything bagel. Great selection from a variety of bagels. I could see how this place could get busy at any given time since it's 24/7!

Yelp
This bagels were quite nice, very different from nyc bagels. Very crunchy, definitely do not get them toasted. The place is very "new" it does not have an old school feel even though it has been around since the 90s We got the garlic & chive it was decent. Wouldn't go back for another... nothing special. However watching them make them was fun!

Yelp
Prices seemed a tad high at first glance, but then decided to compare to the baseline, which in this case would be Tim Horton's. I ordered the breakfast bagel at Kettlemans for 5.99$ before tax. The equivalent at Timmies would be the Bagel BLT at 5.49$. So the question is: is the extra 40 cents worth it? Yes absolutely. Kettlemans offers fresher and higher quality bagels (and ingredients) for basically the same price as the market baseline. Bonus points for being able to see the bagels being made. If you're craving a bagel, this spot is a no-brainer.

Yelp
I've walked past this place so many times as it's on my way to work, but never took the chance to stop in and check it out. Came here supposed to work at S&T and was happy to get a hearty meal. Not somewhere I can eat on a regular basis, but definitely enjoyed it as a one off

Yelp
Petfect place for me since I love bagels and also an early bird. They open around 7 am. Lots of options for bagels and cream cheese. I chose the Blueberry bagel with non dairy cream cheese and it was so filling. They bake and give it ready with cream cheese already spreaded inside. Now that tastes like a donut with a filling. Definitely visiting again to try out other bagels too. There is lots of indoor seating available on the other side of the kitchen.

Yelp
The bagels are fresh and they offer a lot of different and rotating flavours. The front of the store also has a selection of cream cheeses you can buy to-go. The service is always friendly and efficient. I like the back area to sit down and eat. Overall, though, I'm not very impressed by the food. The bagel style isn't for everyone, they're thinner and personally, and probably controversially, I think they're not the best for sandwiches. Everything was falling through the centre since they're slimmer, and it was messy. The prices are a little high in my opinion for the sandwiches (around $15 for the Philly cheese steak) and the cheese is not melted on any of the sandwiches which was a bit disappointing. The coffee was great. The chicken soup was not great. Overall I'd recommend this if you like the style of bagel they have. The fact that they're made fresh is the best part.

Yelp
Coming from Ottawa, I was very excited to see Kettlemans expanding to Toronto. Visited early morning hours, it was very busy. I waited in line and ordered the new big breakfast sandwich. There was a long line up of people waiting. Now, since Kettleman ensures all is visible, this did not work in their favour this visit. The seating area was closed so we were all waiting by the cash to receive our order. There was one individual who was working on making the sandwiches and the service was incredibly slow! Everyone kept asking for the status of their order. Some people waiting 15-20 for just cream cheese and bagel. I finally received my sandwich, it was ok, I found the roast beef to be bit chewy. The hot sauce wasn't enough so the bagel itself was a bit dry. I would try other items next time but maybe not late at night.

Yelp
Ironically, Kettleman's Montreal-style bagels originate from Ottawa and they are hands down my favourite bagels in the city. They're open 24/7 and the staff is always super patient as people decide on what to order. They have a variety of savoury and sweet flavours to choose from with my favourites being all dressed (everything) and sesame, but my sweet-tooth friend loves their cinnamon raisin. Every time I visit, I order two dozen and just keep them in my freezer. They also sell homemade cream cheeses, including a soy-based, non-dairy cream cheese for the lactose intolerant folks. In terms of sandwiches, I always go for the Kettleman's special (smoked salmon, tomatoes, red onions, olives, your choice of cream cheese). I've had friends also enjoy the breakfast bagel, Philly cheesesteak, and roast beef. They offer other bakery goods, but I'd say only the latkes are worth it other than the bagels. Pro tip: download their app and collect rewards because they stack up pretty fast. Every $1 = 1 point and 100 points = $10 off.

Yelp
Not impressed was ok but not worth the hype it's trying to gat so sad. Bathurst street location. Maybe need to go elsewhere

Yelp
food is ok. Service is decent However the price points are off, $15plus bagel sandwich is robbery

Yelp
Delicious bagels at the best price in town. The atmosphere is nice, clean and flows well. This company is from Ottawa, and from when I still lived there, I remember them well. They are very tasty. The service has been so-so the two times I've been there. The people working there seem unhappy and when you approach the till it's like you're bothering them. Considering it just opened, not the response you'd hope for. Conveniently located next to Farm Boy, it does give carb seekers a one-stop shopping option for all their bread and dip needs. You won't be dissatisfied with the food though, it's great!

Yelp
asked for egg on a blt.... got no egg on a very thin bagel that was falling apart. overpriced waste of time and money.

Yelp
Go to bagel house if you want to get more authentic Montreal style bagels. These ones are passable, but not great.

Yelp
It was the first day of opening when we went to check out Kettlemans Bagel. They have a selection of items to grab and go such as pickles, cream cheese, pastries, and drinks. I got the breakfast bagel and was underwhelmed to say the least. The bagel (although fresh) was pretty small for the price, and bacon was paper thin. Nothing to write home about. The seating area was more like a standing area -- one small tiny table with seating and the rest of the space taken up by a long table against the side to maximize traffic I suppose. Not the most welcoming for a sit down breakfast/brunch, and more a takeaway place. What a bagel will remain my go to place for bagels.
google avatar

Yelp
Had to come here after hearing all the rave about this place. I got the Philly cheesesteaks sandwich on an all dressed bagel and a plain poppy seed bagel with butter. The Philly cheesesteak bagel was alright, there was a good amount of meat and cheese but they use roast beef as the meat so I'm just personally not a fan of that. It also came with a huge piece of pickle... 3.5/5 To my surprise, the plain poppy seed bagel was super good. The inside was chewy, while the outside was crispy. I really enjoyed it. 4/5 I would probably come back just for their plain bagels with butter!

Yelp
My love affair with this location wore off pretty fast when my visits resulted in a too-common spectacle of empty bins where my favourite bagel flavours should be. Surpluses of (clearly non-bestsellers) lemon, blueberry, onion, chocolate...herb/cheese, garlic, even plain usually barren. Can my timing really be that bad each time, or does someone need to be better tracking what sells and what doesn't? Note that this is no reflection on the quality of the actual items nor the staff, but I'm really tired of taking the stroll or having to go with second or third choices if not empty-handed...
google avatar

Maplewithmandarin W.

Yelp
Way more chewy than I expected, compared to the amateur bagels I usually get from loblaws. Price wise, really expensive. Half a dozen cost me about 11 bucks with gratuities included. (No option for you to not give a tip on their POS machine; probably I was just too afraid to spend time on identifying the no gratuity option when I knew there were many other customers behind me). Would I go back and get another dozen? Probably not.

Erik L.

Yelp
over-priced garbage. Dont let the $10 bagels and $4 cans of pop fool you... it's a Kettleman's. Spend your money elsewhere.

Yelp
Went today at the Etobicoke location today for the first time. I should be telling you that I'm a Die-Hard Montrealer and for the past number of years had St.Urbain bagels delivered to me. As I was running out of our bagels this week, I decided to try these Kettleman bagels. I don't live in the area and there's a Montreal-style bagel store near us, too! My only comment is that this is a perfect Montreal bagel. Had the traditional poppy bagel and it brought back wonderful memories. They came straight out of the oven. Bought two dozen! Yum!

Yelp
This review is only in regards to their takeout bagels. Having bought their bagels at Farm Boy many times and also following the news around Kettlemans, I was really excited when they announced that they were going to open a location in downtown Toronto. However, I was pretty disappointed in multiple facets with Kettlemans Bathurst... Firstly, the bagels themselves. Based on the bagels at Kettlemans you should probably buy Poppy Seed, Onion and Sesame Seed Futures on the TSX and NYSE ASAP because apparently it is too expensive to put on bagels nowadays. They are noticeably smaller than their Farm Boy product (where is the QA?) and not to mention I get MAJOR skimping vibes for their bagels. Like if I had to guess for the poppy seed bagel, less than 15% of it was covered with actual poppy seed - obviously you wouldn't want 100% either but I think there could be a lot more on their bagels. It could also be more evenly spread out on the bagel itself rather than being concentrated on a very small part of it. For the onion bagels I could probably count how many onion pieces there were on there. I also had some of the green bagel and it was pretty much a plain bagel that was green so it was a little gimmicky to be honest. The bagels themselves were also a bit dense, but I understand that is just the Montreal-style bagel, so I won't fault them for that. Secondly, the pricing. At Farm Boy I think it's about $5.50 for half a dozen. St. Viateur at Metro is about $6.50 for half a dozen. What A Bagel is $4.50 for half a dozen. So why is it $9.29 for half dozen? Honestly the pricing puzzles me a lot and considering how you get skimped out on the bagels themselves there is really nothing that can reasonably explain the prices relative to their competitors.

Yelp
While out for a walk I had a craving for a bagel and decided to check out the new Montreal bagel shop, Kettleman's, located on the southeast corner of Bathurst & Niagara Streets. Located in the bottom of a condo the place features a counter where you place your order, then you are given an electronic page and you wait for your order. There was a lot of staff and things moved quickly. A glass wall divides the front of the shop, the serving area from the kitchen, where the bagels are made and the prep area where the sandwiches are prepared. Unlike traditional deli counters the sandwiches are made in the prep area to you can't see your individual sandwich being made, something I personally dislike. I opted for their garlic bagel with smoked salmon and non-dairy cream cheese which came to just under $ 12.00. While expensive, I was hoping for something akin to the stuffed bagels that I am used to from Ess-a-Bagel in NYC and was disappointed when I opened the overpackaged fast food paper box. Instead of a bagel filled with smoked salmon, there were just two thin slices of smoked salmon and a tiny amount of non-dairy cream cheese. While the filling was disappointing, the bagel itself, which was a little sweet was actually really good, but the whole sandwich was certainly not worth the price.

Crystal L.

Yelp
It's been 5 days and I've had to call in three times to follow up even though the manager keeps telling me he will call me back. Called on Monday afternoon to speak with the manager and was told he has to contact the head office. Called on Wednesday afternoon to get a solution from the manager and was told he would call on Thursday morning to process the refund and it is now Friday afternoon and haven't heard from anyone. Zero sincerity in their mistake. I don't even care about a couple dollars refund but this is just bad customer service. On another note, bagels lacked substance and dough was bland. I won't be purchasing from them again.
google avatar

Reh L.

Yelp
The bagels here are top notch - usually I'll order a dozen and will eat one plain on the way home. When hot and fresh, it's hard to find a bagel better than this. My favourites are the garlic, pretzel, and all dressed, as well as the chive cream cheese. I'm so glad they finally opened a downtown location, however as expected it was jam packed and hence all the bad reviews. The key is to order a bunch of bagels to go rather than a sandwich - will make your time spent in there about 2 mins vs 30 mins.

Kevin z.

Yelp
Tbh it's sucks, I was given a very tasty bagel but if I'm paying 15$ for a bagel sandwich IT BETTER Be good. Cheese wasn't even melted, bagel was barely hot, lowest amount of toppings possible and it was given in a salad tray??? Not worth it, just go to Tim's
google avatar

Lenka M.

Yelp
Louise took my order over the phone. She was very warm and friendly. And our order was perfect and tasted fresh and delicious. They also have vegan options. Thank you
google avatar

Lori K.

Yelp
This is probably the first bad review I am leaving. The bagels are very small and overpriced. They are stingy with their ingredients. Other bagel competitors offer better tasting bagels at a bigger size and lower priced. The bagels are just so-so, nothing impressive really... for the price I would have expected better quality if not quantity. I'm willing to bet this business won't last long.

Yelp
I had heard that Kettlemans made Montreal style bagels, and was anxiously awaiting the opening of this store in my neighbourhood. What a disappointment! The bagels are fine, but they are certainly NOT Montreal style bagels. And don't get me started on the knishes! Worst I've ever had in my life, and believe me, I have had a LOT of knishes. They don't seem to be made on the premises; they come in pre-wrapped plastic boxes, so you can't tell what they might be like. We bought a box of spinach and a box of pizza knishes and took them home. Tried one and threw the rest away, they were really that awful! Hard as rocks, dry, and hollow on the inside with just the tiniest smear of filling. Thanks, Kettlemans, for ensuring that Montrealers will continue to mock Torontonians and our food relentlessly, and with good reason.

Ma Y.

Yelp
The smell of the place drew me in. They have many different bagel types and sandwiches. You can see them rolling and making the bagels fresh behind the glass. I had the lox special but the bagel itself shrunk so much after being toasted I could barely hold it. Wish I had taken a pic to show the ratio. Maybe next time I won't get it toasted and I could give it 5 stars

Rob P.

Yelp
I'm a construction guy & always have different site everyday, so when I heard about this place next to our site, I had to try it...nice interior, open concept to see the bagels being made...(really cool to watch @ whatever age) & very friendly service...i ordered the "Cubano" which was very delicious...i especially loved the sweet mustard & pickle...a complexity I really enjoy... Now pricing is a little much but can't say u DONT get what you pay for & your definitely not getting fast food junk...quality bagels equals quality food good job as I will be back

Kayla R.

Yelp
Wanted to try the new kettlemans on a Saturday afternoon. Waited 20mins before asking for a status on our order. Was then asked twice what our order was to "double check". Finally got our simple two sandwich order 10 mins later and 4 complimentary bagels for the inconvenience. Got home to find the BLT sandwich had no lettuce, no mayo, and a hair.

Nicola H.

Yelp
These bagels are chewy, moist perfection. You get them hot, because they're right out of their wood fire oven. You can just eat them on the spot without butter, they're that good. 10000% Go for sesame first, then all dressed. I love this place, the staff are super nice, and helpful. They'll tell you what's most fresh, and give you freezer bags. I'm a Montreal bagel kind of gal so this is my go-to bagel spot. I love you Kettlemans!!!!

Sanjana J.

Yelp
The Italian bagel is to die for but the bagel was a little dry. Their cream cheese collection is amazing.

Consumer C.

Yelp
Rude, simply rude, and over priced. The staff are uneducated in the ways of business. They have pretzel bagels that I started buying. I asked them to slice the pretzel bagel in half so I could make a sandwich (with one of their expensive, watered down tuna toppings). First, they looked at me quizzically. Second time, the ladies in the back who make the sandwiches, gave me dirty looks. The next time, all they said was NO. When I asked why, I was told they will no longer slice the bagel for me! "This is a directive from head office," they said me in a rude manner. "If I had issues with this," I should get in touch with Ottawa. I walked out and have never gone back. Service is NOT taught to the employees of this company, and if it is indicative of their top management (which it usually is), I wish them no luck. Stay away from Kettlemans -- go to What-a-Bagel. Anywhere else. They are frauds.

Brianne B.

Yelp
The first time I went to Kettlemans, my bagel was hot, fresh and delicious just plain. I went yesterday for a bagel sandwich and it was horrible. My bagel was thin, over cooked, over toasted and cold! Then the mayo was dripping off the side of the bagel, it was Way too much. Overall I was so disappointed. The bagel was too small and I would not go back.

Saumya S.

Yelp
Really loved the bagels here. The flavour of the breads and the options available are insane. They also sell a lot of other stuff like cream cheese, biscuits, juices etc. Highly recommend this place!

Brent C.

Yelp
I was at Kettleman's at Tuesday or Wednesday (March 8 or 9 2022). I ordered 2 original bagels (for the following breakfast). However, since it was close to lunch I thought I might order a pizza bagel to get me through the day. The service was fine and I was given a beeper to be alerted to my orders readiness. Within approximately 5 minutes I was approached by a customer service associated that handed me a plastic container with the content of my order. It seemed small for the number of bagels that I ordered so I questioned the contents. He took the order to the back and questioned a back attendant. I was assured (after repeating my order) the the contents were as ordered. I left the restaurant and went home. Once home I realized I only got the pizza bagel. The funny think was, I truly only wanted to buy 2 bagels to see what the hype was about. The two bagels are the only thing that I didn't get! People make mistakes and it was the first week, so mistakes are bound to happen. Therefore I emailed Kettleman's. I am yet to hear back. I'm not sure what the fraud numbers are on 2 under $1.79 bagels, but it must be hight for a new company to ignore me. I simply ask that you make it right. I am happy to provide my banking invoice which would total the exact amount of 2 bagels and a pizza bagel. I just hope this review justifies my persistence.
