Carrying a very homey Batavian-nostalgic vibe, this place seems like a heritage at this time. With classic Dutch foods familiar to the Indo tongue. With that said, seating is very limited. I count only up to 8 tables available, with some only able to seat max 2-3 people. Some spots are reserved for photos only so it reduces the space even more. No reservations allowed, just first come first serve. Parking is also very limited, only 2-3 spots in front. The rest park along the road with help from the local parking guide. Food is pretty good, I really liked the Klassieke Stamppot. The rest were pretty average for me although I know it is true to the tradition's taste. Some menus weren't available like Galantin and the Beef tongue stew, which makes you wonder if coming too early is also wrong. The service is quite good although the servers are easily overwhelmed due to all the commotion as orders are pumped out in a relatively slow pace, the cost of freshly made home foods. I would still definitely recommend the Stamppots and Hutspots to anyone coming, I also heard the Kroket is a bestseller as well. Oh and I had Marmer cake for two with free hot tea, the Marmer cake was very warm and tasty!

I came with my husband and sister for lunch. We ordered some of their signature dishes, including beef stew, Oma's steak, aligot, risoles, coffee, and chocolate drinks. Overall, the food was good, especially the bread, aligot, and risoles. For us, the beef stew and Oma's steak were just fine, the meat tender. The service was good, the waiter's explanations were also good and clear. The place is also nice, with a Christmas theme, and the ambiance is really nice.

The food was great. Service is good. Limited space. Less than ten tables. It an old Batavian house which converted as resto. A lot of spot for photo.

Thank you for the truly memorable experience at Keuken Van Elsje. The meal was absolutely delightful—each dish a testament to thoughtful preparation and culinary finesse. We were especially impressed by your attentive team, who not only provided warm and impeccable service but also offered excellent recommendations that elevated our dining experience. We ordered the Bruine Bonensoep (Brown Bean Soup with smoked beef), Elsje Rissole, beef stew plate and they were very delicious! The ambience of the restaurant was charming and cosy—it genuinely felt like being welcomed into someone’s home. Kevin’s hospitality and the stories you shared about the history of the restaurant added such a special touch to our visit. We’re so grateful for the care and warmth that went into every detail. It was a pleasure dining with you, and we look forward to returning again soon.

A humble and homey restaurant with an amazing menu of Dutch cuisine yet not so far from our Indonesian tongue (as they served their signature risoles and bitterballen). On my visit, I tried 2 things (and 1 ice cream for the dessert). The first one was the Dutch famous snack, Patatje Oorlog (EN: War potato), a blend of Dutch-Indonesian flavors, as it is a fries topped with mild peanut sauce with mayonnaise and chopped raw onions. The peanut flavor was mild, unlike a common store peanut butter or pecel sauce, the flavor is just right to me. The second one was their signature Beef Stew (Hachee & rundvleesstoofpot) served with salad and hutspot (also known as hochpoch; where mashed potato meet shredded carrot and a bit of onion). The meet was so tender, as told that it is cooked for 12 hours. The flavor is amazing, the salad then lighten the flavor by its freshness. I closed my meal with a portion of vanilla ice cream. It was an amazing visit. God bless this restaurant.

We had a delicious lunch here. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, our favorites were the risoles and cheesy mashed potatoes. Service was very friendly, the restaurant decor is also very unique and homey. Definitely recommended to try.

🍽️ Family Lunch at Keuken van Elsje – A Taste of Nostalgia 🇳🇱✨ Stepping into Keuken van Elsje felt like walking into a cozy Dutch grandmother’s kitchen—warm, inviting, and filled with the aroma of comfort food that brought back so many childhood memories. This charming family-run restaurant delivered a heartwarming lunch experience that was both nostalgic and soul-satisfying. We started with the Bitterballen van Elsje, crispy on the outside with a rich and creamy beef ragout filling that melted in your mouth—hands down a must-try starter. The Elsje Rissole followed, golden and flaky, filled with a savory meat mix that reminded me of festive family gatherings. For mains, the Galantina van Hutspot was the true showstopper (📸)—beautifully rolled and stuffed meat, served over buttery mashed potatoes with a rich, brown gravy. Every bite was tender and full of flavor, and the peas and carrots gave it that home-cooked balance. We also enjoyed Klassieke Stamppot, a traditional Dutch mashed potato dish with vegetables and sausage—comfort food at its finest. The Fettucine met Romiga was creamy, simple, and comforting, while the Tongue Beef Steak was unexpectedly tender and deeply flavorful. Every dish was crafted with care and full of heart. If you’re longing for a meal that feels like home and stirs up sweet memories of the past, Keuken van Elsje is a gem worth revisiting. 💙🇳🇱
