The Best Places to Visit in the Netherlands That Aren’t Amsterdam

"Many people flock to Delft for its eponymous blue pottery, but don’t overlook the town’s Renaissance architecture and Vermeer Centre museum (the Dutch painter, famous for such works as Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Milkmaid, was born and died here). The compact size of its historic center make it a perfect spot for leisurely strolls: Stop for coffee along its canals, browse Delftware in its numerous boutiques, and sample cheeses at the cafe-lined Markt square in front of the Nieuwe Kerk, where a lively local market pops up every Thursday. How to get there: Direct trains from Amsterdam bring you to Delft in an hour." - Chris Schalkx

"Keukenhof: Holland in Bloom It's a zen-like experience doable a scant nine weeks of the year: Keukenhof, where seven million blooming tulips, daffodils and hyacinths have attracted 800,000+ spring visitors for 60 years. Covering nearly 80 acres, the stunning display is the world's most renowned tulip festival, with expansive flower fields and gardens planted in intricate color patterns, plus dozens of flower, plant and gardening shows, horticultural displays and works of art. Set in Lisse, a tiny village just south of Amsterdam, the annual attraction is an easy day trip from the capital. Take the train from Central Station to Leiden, where bus 54 runs directly to the park. Keukenhof also is easily accessible from Schiphol Airport by bus 58. If you want to spend a few more euros to avoid public transport, travel by coach on an organized day trip from Amsterdam, easily booked from numerous companies. If you're driving, there's plenty of parking at the attraction. However you get there, Keukenhof will be open daily, March 20–May 18, 2014, providing the weather cooperates. The 2014 theme is "Holland" from its traditional beginnings to modern times. Visit in April when crowds are sparse and fragrant hyacinths, as well as orchids in an indoor pavilion, are in bloom. Come in May for warmer weather and more flamboyant outdoor tulip displays. Whatever you do, don't forget your camera, as Keukenhof is paradise for photographers as well as garden enthusiasts."

Here is absolutely stunning fields of colorful flowers, especially tulips, everywhere you look. It was quite crowded with tourists, but the atmosphere was still enjoyable. Outside the park, we rented bikes and explored the endless beautiful flower fields around Lisse a fantastic experience! Despite the crowds, I’d definitely love to come back.

Google
One of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Highly recommended for people who love nature, flowers and looking for a day out to spend time close to nature. Amazing views and wide variety of Tulips. I have taken day trip from Amsterdam and it was well worth it.

Google
Amazing place to visit! So many different types of tulips and it’s a big territory, so you can spend couple of hours there. However, it’s very popular. I think they sell more tickets than they should. A couple of hours after opening it’s too crowded. If you go there - I recommend going early in the morning, so you can enjoy this place :)

Google
I'm still pinching myself after visiting this garden - it's honestly more beautiful than paradise! The moment I stepped through the gates, I was struck by the sheer perfection of the place. The gardens are kept incredibly tidy, with every blade of grass and petal perfectly in place. And then there are the flowers - I'm not exaggerating when I say there are millions of them, in every color of the rainbow. It's a real-life wonderland that's a heaven for photographers. And trust me, you'll want to capture every moment. The entry fees are reasonable, and decent public transport is available. You don’t need to spend over €50 for an arranged tour to this place. However, I did find that even on a weekday, the garden was swarming with people. It kind of spoiled the real joy of being in such a beautiful space - I mean, who wants to share their slice of paradise with thousands of others? Despite the crowds, I'd still highly recommend visiting this garden which stays like this only for 3 months of spring in the year. Just maybe try to go early in the morning or later in the evening to soak up the tranquility.

Absolutely LOVED my visit at Keukenhof! Mid-April seems to be the perfect time since almost all the flowers were in full bloom. Even though I came here on a weekday, Easter season draws crowds and crowds for sure, but the splendour and the colours of all the flowers and the lovely smell of the hyacinths everywhere will attract all your attention. This lovely spring park, which confidently claims to be the most beautiful one in the world (and that claim is more than accurate), kept me spellbound and exhilarated for 6 hours straight (short breaks only)! So you can imagine its dimensions! I have never seen that variety of shapes and colours in tulips in my life before, but now they will all be cherished memories for the rest of my life. My favourite ones are called "Apricot Impression", "Pink Impression" and "Design Impression" ... they seem to glow from within. But all other flowers like hyacinths, narcissus, muscari and imperial crowns are stars in their own right! Inside three pavilions you can even marvel at so many different kinds of orchids and amaryllis. Pre-booking of all tickets is strongly advisable to avoid the "fully booked"-disappointment. The entrance fee (20 €), Keukenhof Buzz bus round trip from/to Amsterdam (17 €) and Whisper Boat tour along the tulip fields (10 €) added up to almost 50 €. I would not go on the boat tour again since the views were not what I expected, but at least it provided 45 minutes of tranquility. Almost (but only almost) one star got lost because of the smelly bathrooms even though cleaning staff was buzzing around.

Google
We went at the end of April and it was absolutely stunning! We had a 10 AM entry so were able to park in lot 1 and go in that entrance. Be ready for lots of people because it’s peak season for tulips and the other flowers. With that said, we were able to see all the parts of the park we wanted to. Also enjoyed strawberries and cream for a snack! Be sure you have paid for your parking before trying to exit the park - we bought our tickets with parking on the website prior to our visit for a seamless experience!

Google
The vibrant colors of the spring garden create a breathtaking spectacle. A gentle breeze carries the sweet fragrance of blossoms throughout the air. The abundance of blooms provides a haven for pollinators, buzzing with activity. Visitors can find solace and rejuvenation amidst the natural beauty. Would suggest to buy tickets in advance and visit during the week when it is not as crowded.

Google
Visited Keukenhof in late March and had a lovely experience overall. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and getting there by bus was simple thanks to very clear signage and instructions throughout. While the outdoor tulips hadn’t bloomed yet (which is to be expected that early in the season), the indoor displays more than made up for it — vibrant, beautifully curated, and full of colour. The whole park is set in a stunning landscape, and even without the full bloom, it’s a peaceful and enjoyable place to walk around. I’ll definitely return again — but next time, a little later in the season to catch the gardens in full bloom.

Yelp
Seeing the tulips at Keukenhof was one of the main reasons why I wanted to visit Amsterdam. I booked a day trip on Viator and one of the stops included Keukenhof. There's many ways to purchase tickets. You can purchase tickets directly from Keukenhof and some of the ticket options include bus fare from Amsterdam to Lisse. You can also get discounted tickets using the Amsterdam City Pass. I didn't realize that Kuekenhof is a massive botanic garden. I thought there would be tulip fields that we could walk in, but that wasn't the case. Walking through tulip fields is discouraged as your shoes can carry bacteria that can harm the flowers. If you happen to pass by tulip fields, resist the urge to walk through them. The park is open for 8 weeks from mid March to mid May. The website and social media channels publish the dates of when the park will be open and the 2025 dates are already out! The best time to visit is in April. I went on a Sunday and it was pretty crowded. I visited the first week of May 2024. I was disappointed to see that the tulips had bloomed a bit early and they were already cutting bulbs. The bulbs that remained were pretty, but you could see that some of them were wilting. There are many flower varieties in the park and lots of photo ops. You can easily spend a few hours exploring the gardens. Our tour guide challenged our group to take fewer than 100 photos, and not a single person succeeded. The park is divided into sections; each section is named after a member of the Dutch Royal Family. You can do guided tours, a boat or bike tour, and even go inside the giant windmill near the entrance. They have a few cafés on the premises as well as food carts. There's multiple gift shops where you can buy bulbs and various types of merchandise. Even though the tulips bloomed early this year, they were still a sight to see! If you find yourself in Amsterdam in the spring, take the time to go visit Keukenhof!

Yelp
I was lucky to be in Amsterdam while this garden was open. The garden is only open for seven weeks in the spring while over one million people visit this gardener's heaven. The Keukenhof Garden was part of a tour I had reserved so I really don't know what to expect besides seeing a smaller garden with lots of various spring flowers. As we were driving to Keukenhof, I saw fields and fields of various spring flowers. Once we had arrived, we were walked to the gate, given a map and was told, "See you in three hours". As soon as I walked in, there was this huge mound of tulips. From there, I just kept following the paths. Each path had incredible spring flowers and fragrances. At times, patience is needed for taking photos..... Yes, they the do sell bulbs for your garden. Words can't describe this huge garden. I am so glad I had the pleasure to check this garden out.

Yelp
Gorgeous! Definitely don't go late in the season because over half of the flowers are cut. It is still gorgeous but try to go earlier in the season. Otherwise, I'd recommend to go earlier in the day & plan on walking lots. You could bring a little picnic blanket! The food trucks were great, too!
google avatar

Mylinh V.

Yelp
Amazing tulip display! The flowers here are impressive! They are planted and maintained so beautifully! Each area/display was so well thought out! The park is huge so you can spend all day here depending on how fast you go or how much time you have! It was a bit cold and rainy that day for me so I spent only a few hours here. Getting here from Amsterdam is very hard. There is no train that goes straight here. You have to take a tour bus, bus, or rent a car. There are many pretty fields to look at and stop by along the way if you are driving!

Yelp
Fabulous, go to their website & book the entry with bus from Amsterdam RAI. That's the bus that is the Keukenhoff Express from A'dam... if you need to go from Centra Station, you can do a private TOUR ( like the red shop on many corners) This was super simple, we took the tram to the bus that goes to RAI and followed the crowds for the Keukenhoff Express. Book your package early, it was 36 dollars or so March 2024 with round trip bus & entry. You can stay as long as you wish, plan on 3 hrs min. Lots of waking.. lots of cafe's on site for snack & coffee.. cute gift shops, reasonable. Loved our day here, it's only been open a few days so the temp is still cool, not prime at all for the outdoor tulips, but there was a huge indoor Orchid and then a ginormous indoor tulip housing where all of my photos were taken. Just do this, it's amazing and a rare opportunity.

Yelp
This place is absolutely beautiful and a tulip lover dream. I attended the 2024 tulip festival, and our VIP tickets included entry to keukenhof botanical gardens located in Lisse. The park is pretty huge, and I did not walk through it all. It was basically flower fields after flower fields. They have so many different varieties of tulips, most I have never seen. They have restaurants, gift shops, and restrooms placed throughout the park. They are 100% cashless. My favorite shop in the park was the flower blub shop. At the flower blub shop, you could pre-order tulip and other flower blubs, and shipping is included in the price. They dig your blubs up in October/November and ship them to you. When you receive the blubs, you should plant them right away so they can bloom in the spring. I definitely think that is a unique marketing technique, fresh blubs, and I was sold lol. I ordered ice cream tulips, fly away tulips, and a double splash amaryllis. To be honest, I would have ordered more if I had somewhere to put them. Keukenhof is open mid/end of March - early/mid May, basically while the tulips are in bloom. The entry ticket is about $20usd. The tulip festival parade passes right in front of keukenhof, so be prepared for a crowd if you travel during that time. I recommend wearing a raincoat or bringing an umbrella. Spring weather in the neatherlands can be a bit unpredictable, so always be prepared for sporadic showers. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed my visit and recommend you add this to your top places to visit while in Holland.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place to see the tulips! I went as part of a tour and I think we had about five hours there which was a little long for me because it was a cold and rainy day. It's a little challenging when as part of a tour, you don't really have control over your own schedule. Although, that still might be the easiest route to go. I know someone who loved it so much that they went on two different days. They do have restaurants there as well.
google avatar

Ed S.

Yelp
Unbelievable! Plan your trip to Amsterdam carefully, as the park is only open for about 6 weeks. Once the blooms wilt, the gardens are open, but without the floral displays. One can easily spend a full day and still not see everything. Of course, there are gift shops everywhere. And you can buy bulbs for home. But be patient, you can't take them with you. They ship to the US. One other thing. Take an antihistamine before you go.

Yelp
This place is beautiful and huge. So much to see. The variety of flowers were glorious. Go early because the crowds come and come. It's definitely a place that needs to be seen.

Yelp
We visited during the opening weekend of tulip season March 2024. We were so amazed how all the flowers are 5x bigger than we've ever seen and the colors are super vibrant. Did not have any issues with pollen or allergies here. My favorite was the parrot tulips which had a fringed look. Tons of photo ops opportunities indoor and outdoor. Not just tulips, there was a beautiful cherry blossom tree in the middle of the garden, and we also saw many varieties of orchids. Even though we took a bus tour here, we got plenty of time to enjoy and explore for about 3 hours. Being a tourist spot, the restaurant food was only so-so and it was quite pricey. Nevertheless, it is a must do if you are in Amsterdam during late March to early May.
google avatar

Joseph L.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday, and it had a lot of visitors. However, the area is very large with so many flower gardens and flower shows, so it did not feel crowded. Could definitely spend the whole day here and not feel bored or run out of things to see. We came 1st weekend of May, and some flowers are already wilting, but still, many pretty flowers to look at. I really enjoyed the Beatrix flower show area since it was dedicated to orchids. They had so many variety of orchids, and it was so colorful. The way they set up their displays with accompanying themes were beautiful. It was also very fun to find large clog shoes so we can take pictures in them.

Yelp
A visit to Keukenoff Farms is a must if you're in Amsterdam during Tulip Season. We visited toward the beginning of the season so not every single field had bloomed yet, but there was still a TON to see :-D The overall design of the farm is really pretty with fountains and windmills to view, giving definite Netherlands vibes for you to enjoy. There were pine trees, other flowers (aside from the tulips), and of course the fields and fields of tulips. There was also a greenhouse where you could see some of the plants and flowers cultivated inside, and that was neat to see how they grow. For being just a short bus ride outside of Amsterdam, if you're looking for a great way to see the lauded Netherlands Tulips, Keukenoff is definitely the best spot!
google avatar

Myning C.

Yelp
Beautiful flowers - climb the windmill- bought express ticket and entry on line- bus ride there is longer from RAI station due to traffic at entrance - we waited-another 45 minutes - lots of food inside with long lines - and dont forget from RAI station, you still have to walk 6-10 minutes to the express buses.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning, tulips and daffodils and many many other types of flowers, such a beautiful sigh, it was quite crowded but it was easy to navigate once you were inside, plan on spending several hours just walking and taking in the sights, truly amazing views from everywhere within the park, it was the highlight to our trip to Amsterdam
google avatar

Gary H.

Yelp
Certainly worth visiting. Read up or go on a guided tour to really appreciate the effort and money put into this beautiful park. Try to go in the middle of the week. The boat tour is a bit iffy late in the season but still a nice break. I'm glad we did the whisper boat. Be sure to order those tickets ahead of time. The fries sold at one of the kiosks were not tasty, food is super-overpriced in the cafes....minus 1 star. This is an amazing place and worth visiting, on your 2nd or 3rd visit here, but not worth taking a whole day if you're only here a week, in my opinion.
google avatar

Yelp
Our journey here didn't start so smoothly. First, we had a panic when the combo bus & entry tickets we bought on the transport app disappeared- which is apparently a thing that happens sometimes due to technology error. Since this is the government's app and not Keukenhof's, I can't really fault them for this, but want to warn my fellow travelers- we wound up having to buy a second set of tickets and get refunded, luckily slots weren't sold out already by the time we noticed. To be safe, I recommend screenshotting your QR code if you buy through this method, just in case! Buses seem to come to Europaplain about every 15 minutes. It was a bit chilly and we didn't want to wait more than the 20-30 min we already had, so we opted for standing room- but then had an hour bus ride to the park standing up, which admittedly made me a bit cranky. Once we actually got there though, it was gorgeous. I'd recommend going earlier in the day to beat some of the crowds, although the garden is big enough you can find personal space. Be warned though, you may have to wait in line for some of the photo ops, if that's your thing. If you just want to enjoy the flowers though, there is a lot to delight you! There were so many kinds of beautiful flowers and it was so nice wandering around looking at them. I took a good number of photos (though probably not as many as other guests, who were soaking up the photo ops!) but I got so, so many great shots! The flowers are really stunning, and there are varieties and color combinations I didn't even know existed. A really unique spectacle, and absolutely gorgeous on a good weather day. The garden's only open to the public 2 months out of the year, and well worth the visit if you're in Amsterdam or close enough to make a trip. Depending on your stamina, you can spend anywhere from a few hours to the better part of a day here. There are plenty of benches and places to rest, and also food trucks and little cafes and places to grab a bite. Besides Poffertjes (mini pancakes,) we didn't eat in the park, but there are decent dining options if you plan to make a whole day of it. The return buses came frequently and it was easy to get back to the city.
google avatar

Krishen W.

Yelp
This place is essentially a theme parked for tulips. There are literally millions of beautiful flowers here, it's so pretty! Excellent place to take pictures. Keep in mind it's only open for a couple months every year, usually spring time. Definitely worth the trip driving outside of Amsterdam!
google avatar

Chloe T.

Yelp
It's hard to beat Keukenhof! If you are a flower lover, this is the place for you. From the moment we walked in, we were in love. While it is popular for tulips, you can see all kinds of flowers here. I'll attach some photos. Luckily if you get hungry, restaurants are spread out across the gardens and you can buy just about anything you want. Restrooms are also everywhere. If you come here, be prepared to do a lot of walking. But it's so worth it! I went two days on my trip and still didn't see everything. I visited mid May. Once on a Tuesday, and once on a Saturday, the day before the gardens closed. Tuesday, the flowers were near perfect with just a few dead. By Saturday, many were dead. I do not recommend coming here at the end of the season. No later than the second week of May just in case. I will be back!
google avatar

Tammy M.

Yelp
Beautiful garden with millions of bulbs planted yearly. They offer a variety of gardens to view, a maze, family-friendly activities, and lots of walking. A very unique & unforgettable experience when visiting the Netherlands in the Spring. April 2023 FYI- Keukenhof is the Instagram capital of the country.
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
Was excited to see the tulips unfortunately the day we went it was a rainy day. However it still wasn't bad. Since we went early in the season all the flowers weren't in full bloom but the ones that were....they were very beautiful to look at. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as there is a lot of walking involved. There are a few different places to get food and many shops scattered throughout that all have almost the same items. Somethings will vary but not much. Be prepared for all the photographers with lots of equipment taking photos. It can be annoying if you just trying to get a nice photo yourself. Some guests also aren't mindful that others want to take photos in front of photos so you have to force your way in to get your photos. On a nice day I am sure this place has so many people there enjoying the flowers that it may be worse. If you are a tulip or flower lover this is a must do at least once.
google avatar

Kaycie S.

Yelp
Gorgeous. Although we missed full bloom field's the park is nice to walk through and plenty of tulips.
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
Getting to Keukenhof from Amsterdam takes some time, especially with the traffic, but it is very worth it. The grounds were STUNNING. It was peak tulip season when I visited (first week of May) so it was extremely busy. That being said, the gardens were huge with plenty of flowers to look at, so it wasn't too terribly crowded. I highly recommend a visit if you find yourself in Amsterdam - it was absolutely stunning.
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Oh my god. Look, this place is absolutely overflowing with fucking people and we went EARLY because I heard that it gets really out of control between the hours of 10:30-4. Despite our early arrival, it was still packed. I don't know about you, but it's not that pleasant being around all of those people, it just isn't. I considered giving this place four stars for the crowds but when push comes to shove, I just can't. The flowers are incredible and the whole thing is like nothing I've ever experienced. There are so many different colors and combinations of different flowers. The fields are incredible. I don't know where people are getting these shots of standing in the fields, which is what I was expecting, because they are off limits and I can understand why. You can catch a glimpse along one of the sides of the place. The people who schedule the bus "tours" or whatever, don't know me so I was not about to let them dictate the time I spend there. I very much considered it, but after reading reviews online, I decided to rent a car to get there. I spent as long as I wanted (you really don't need the four hours or whatever I was seeing on the tours, sounds a bit much), and then spent the rest of the day driving to other parts of North Holland. I couldn't recommend doing it any other way, it was super stress free (other than the crowds) This is one of those things that is worth seeing once before you die.
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! The displays of flowers were breathtaking. We booked a tour in Amsterdam. It was nice because they picked us up by bus at Amsterdam Centraal Station. Our tour guide was so passionate and informative. We learned a lot. He gave us a good amount of time to explore on our own after the tour. When the time was up, we went back to the bus and headed back to the station. It was effortless. Such an unforgettable experience.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Beautiful gardens that show stunningly gorgeous varieties of flowers. Their season is limited from mid March to mid May. Pictures can't come close to these gardens. Suggested to visit in March or May as April is VERY crowded.
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
I can only echo all the other reviews. This is the place to be when it is open. Do not miss this. Okay that was a hard sell, but seriously every time I go back I'm again wowed by the flowers and they change them every season. I'm sure I'll go again.

Lisa d.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful! Not even imagine how wonderful this place would be. A whole day could be spent here. If this is an option for you, do not pass by.
google avatar

Scott E.

Yelp
A must do. An insane amount of beautiful flowers. Genuinely impressive and impeccably maintained.
google avatar

Tensy M.

Yelp
I liked it and enjoyed it. There are lots of little shops. Flowers gallore, 7 million. Everything was clean. The food was fast and very good, you still would like to have a picnic on the grounds because it's so inviting, very courteous staff.
google avatar

Mac S.

Yelp
Only open I hear for 2 months out of the year due to the tulip blossoming cycle, so when the place is open (April/May) it is THE thing to check out in Amsterdam for not just for tourists but also the locals. The place was absolutely stunning, but also it is no secret by any stretch of the imagination. Therefore, expect large clouds. However I was there during King's Day weekend so maybe it was more crowded than usual. As a first time tourist I bought the tour, however there are cheaper options for those who are/become more savy with public transportation.
google avatar

Rebecca T.

Yelp
The flowers here are so pretty! It's some detailed and fabulous art of garden engineering. I don't know how they do it, to design the garden and to maintain the life of every single flower. Just magical. I went in one April pre-covid and it was pretty crowded already. I can't imagine when it's peak tourist season in the summer! Going there was easy. Just take the train and hop on a bus. The lines at the bus terminal can be ridiculously long so it's better to go early. Luckily the lines moved fast and there were many buses making the loop. I had a great time there. The place was big but not so huge that you can't see in one day or maybe even half a day. The food choices were decent. It was a food court / supermarket style where you put everything on your tray and pay at the register at the end. They had indoor seating too and it's like a food hall. Highly recommend this place if you're in ams!
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Open only 2 months out of the year (mid-March to mid-May), we were lucky enough to make our way to the gardens. This is an absolute MUST SEE and your entire trip should be centered around visiting here. Seriously, it's that amazing. The weather is unpredictable during this time of the year and the day started cold and rainy. However it cleared up with beautiful blue skies breaking through every now and then. We booked a morning group tour via Viator which was a little chaotic but served the purpose of providing round trip transportation. So happy and fortunate to have seen such a beautiful place.
google avatar

Alessandra V.

Yelp
we walked around all the gardens. it was very cold so we stopped in one of the cafes. the one by the horse. got hot chocolate, coffee, and a blueberry muffin. the muffin was fantastic.

Yelp
I must say, this was a pretty cool experience. We bought a bus & entrance combo ticket on the website and I must say its super easy. Once you reach the Europaplain metro station in Amsterdam you go up the stairs and the bus stop is literally 50 feet away. The only confusion was that there is only one queue for the bus and to buy tickets from the agent so the queue goes really slow. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the gardens, and since we had our tickets we entered in a matter of seconds Once inside ... the gardens are huge. But you can see the entire thing in a bout 2/3 hours without rushing. Inside we also took a 45 minutes boat ride that cost 9 euros each. The main attraction of course is the tulips and boy they are beautiful. One of the highlights of our trip to Holland.
google avatar

Carol L.

Yelp
Beautiful tulip garden that is a must visit when in the Netherlands! So so beautiful in the spring time, would definitely recommend mid to late spring to get peak bloom. Very easy to find tours leaving from central Amsterdam with buses that take you there and back, would absolutely come back to visit again.

Yelp
The excursion to this tulip field was probably the highlight of my trip to Amsterdam. All the times I went to Amsterdam before but in the off-season when tulips were not in harvest season. Our bus picked us up near the Amsterdam centraal station and it was about a 30 minute ride to the fields/farms. The tour guide was bilingual and explained the entire field and gave us maps for navigation. There were like 7 main pint of interests where the tulips were, along with other flowers and decorative pieces. There were flowers all along the trails. I haven't seen such beautiful scenery and the photos just Doesn't justify the experience in person. We took tons and tons of photos as one flower was just as beautiful as the one next to it. There were a couple of cafes with breakfast and lunch items. One of the main stops had a beautiful custom made tulip bridal gown to snap photos with. This is an absolute must while touring Amsterdam. Tulips are in season from end of March to May. I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to tour this farm with the kiddos

Yelp
The Tulip Festival was absolutely surreal, it's easy to forget where you are because the beauty of all the breathtaking flowers transports you elsewhere. An absolute abundance of color and a large variety of foliage, there are of course stunning rows upon rows of tulips but also flowers Not native to Europe! Make sure you check out the Beatrice greenhouse where you can find the most colorful orchids!! Could easily spend all day here but I casually walked through the garden and wrapped up in about 1.5 hours. There are a few cafes and food trucks sprinkled throughout so you can refuel - loads of benches in case you want to sit and simply take it all in. Unfortunately it was a bit chilly and windy when I came but I think it definitely helped reduce the congestion :) note - if you're able to purchase your ticket + day bus ride in one go, I would recommend doing that. I ordered my entrance ticket online and then paid for my bus pass (coach bus from the airport) when it would've been a bit cheaper to do all together. You can also just purchase "at the gate" or at the airport near pickup.

Yelp
Tuesday April 18, 2023. I Very nice park. Easy to buy tickets online. We bought admission and the shuttle pick up from airport zone. It was kiind of crowded. We bought a nice Caesar salad and fried cheeze balls. Because we are from Hawaii we were not used to chilly weather but it was manageable because there was several indoor venues throughout the park.

Yelp
such a stunning garden. a visit to keukenhof is the experience of a lifetime. the tulip fields had been cut for the season when we went, but the gardens within the park were still gorgeously in bloom. plus, the food in the cafeteria isn't half bad despite being predictably overpriced.

Yelp
Finally able to revisit the gorgeous Keukenhof gardens after being closed due to the lockdown. It was great to be back. New gardens are installed each year. There seems to be more paths then before. I loved the food trucks. I did a little shopping in the gift shops. You can order your favorite bulbs. This year there are a maximum number of guests each day and some days are sold out. Pack a picnic and have a gorgeous day!!

Yelp
A must do if you love tulips or appreciate the beauty of beautifully manicured gardens. My tulip fascination began in the second grade when a kid named Bobby, who sat next to me, drew what I, at the time, interpreted as Cezanne-like perfectly drawn tulips. Since then, I've imported tulips from Holland for my wedding because they were not in season in the US, I adore photos, paintings and all things tulips. Of course, I love a bouquet of tulips on any given day. This world famous garden is opened only in April and May, when tulips are in bloom. My friend was here just last week and described the tulips as being in peak bloom, so I was concerned whether Keukenhof would still be worth visiting, since tulips are far from being hearty-type of blooms. It's akin to seeing the leaves in the East Coast during the Fall. Arrive too early the leaves haven't changed colors yet, but arrive too late, like after a rain fall, the leaves will be on the ground. Timing with tulips are just as crucial. That said, I'm so glad to share that the "state of the tulips" were worthy of the 45 minute trek from Amsterdam. Because of my life long tulip obsession, this was a dream come true for me. Apparently, millions of others love tulips just as much. The garden is packed with visitors, making it extremely difficult to capture that perfect Adam Ansel moment, without someone's arm or head intruding into your photo. Yes, it is that busy! We went towards the end of the day, and about 30 minutes prior to closing, the crowds we're finally thinning out. Don't let that deter you though, because the beauty you'll experience definitely outweighs the crowds of fellow tulip-seekers who are also there seeking the same experience. In my book, this is a must-see in Holland, and for me personally, the visit was a pinnacle of a lifetime adoration of tulips.

Yelp
When I heard we were going to Amsterdam during tulip season I was so excited! Keukenhof is only open 8 weeks a year so this was a true treat! I love the fact that Keukenhof offers free wheel chairs at the entrance and that the entire exhibit is accessible. This opens up this activity to so many more people! We were greeted as we entered by a lovely princess who explained that this was once the princesses kitchen garden. It has since grown to so much more! Maps are available to help plan a course to see everything! Check out the greenhouse presentations. They reminded me of what I see at my cities yearly flower show. Each presentation was gorgeous, colorful, and interesting. I saw music, art, entertainment , and lot of pop culture references. The displays were spectacular! I love the interactive bridal gown. I enjoyed taking my photo there as it may be the only wedding dress my mom ever gets to see me in. My second favorite thing was the happiness garden. It inspired me to do something similar at home. I love that I almost walked right past it without realizing all of the hand written thoughts. I took photos of some of my favorites! I love that here is a windmill onsite! Perfect for those who have never gotten to see one. Lots of grassy areas to toss out a blanket and enjoy the beauty around yo. Now on to the logistics! There is no need to dig up for a 60 Euro tour to Keukenhof. You can but tickets online. Take the train to the airport and there are easy to find signs that will point you to the right bus. If you don't have a regional train pass you will have to purchase an additional round trip his ticket. The bus is public transportation but it only goes from the air port to exhibit. It is about a 30 minute bus ride. The bus fills up and the drivers stop short and make sharp turns. Get a seat or hold on to something but be careful! I ended up sitting right on the bus floor! Sometimes you gotta let your body rest. Food/drink: my advice is to bring drinks or water bottles and buy snacks! Soda was very over priced at almost 4 euro. Ice cream, stroopenwaffels, and fruit were all much more reasonable.

Yelp
Very fortunate that our cruise/trip coincided with a stop in Amsterdam during tulip season. These gardens are only open for 6 weeks in the year. We booked a combo ticket for entry, bus and Adam Lookout (another tourist spot in Amsterdam) through Viator, but you could also book it from the cruise line for a higher price. As well, when you exit the cruise ships there is tourist information right at the port and you can get tickets there. It's about 45 min to an hour drive (depending on the traffic) from Amsterdam. You get 3 hours at the gardens.... which is generally enough but really you could spend a lot more time there. We didn't get to see all the flower beds. It's really quite huge. The colors are just magnificent, and we took many photos there. A must see for flower enthusiasts and for photographers!

Yelp
Beautiful! I went April 15, 2024. So glad it was sunny and nice (original rainy forecast). The flowers were in full bloom. Some areas had flowers ready the next blooming (lasagna layered flower bulbs for nonstop blooms). The place is huge and so well developed. We took lots of photos and tried many yummy foods. We will come back next year!

Yelp
Keukenhof Gardens was everything we expected to be and than some. Absolutely Gorgeous! However, Friends of ours as well as my husband and I ordered tulip bulbs at Keukenhof Garden, that we really wanted for our gardens at home in the USA. Both our friends tulips as well as ours are justing beginning to bloom and they are not anything that we had ordered. Between the two of us ordering MANY bulbs we spend over $400 American dollars. After spending that much money we expected far better from these internationally own gardens. We contacted the gardens but have NEVER received a response of any kind. So, I can not recommend buying any flowers from Keukenhof Gardens. I would definitely visit the gardens again but never order and have shipped bulbs ever again. Extremely disappointed. Yelp
I timed my trip to the Netherlands specifically to view the Tulips in bloom. I bought the "Combi" ticket online which provides you access to the park once you get there without waiting in line to buy tickets. It also provides a round-trip from specific spots that's mentioned on Keukenhof's website. The flowers were really gorgeous even though some of them were already dying (the season is almost over). The smells and colors really popped out to me and I loved how some of the arrangements were non-linear. Overall it's a unique experience that I wanted to check out. The earlier you get there, the less crowded it is.

Yelp
The purpose of our trip to Holland/The Netherlands is for this reason, to see the 7 million bulbs of tulips. If you've been to the Tulip Festival in Seattle, you'll understand why you want to see this, because this place started that trend in Seattle. We went in April because we were told that by May, the tulips may all start dying off, so it was still a bit chilly in April. The line for this bus to drop you off here starts at the airport, you stand in a long line that goes rather quickly, purchase your tickets, and off in a shuttle you go. You can also drive there, but it was really out of the way. You cannot access this place by the train system, though you can take the train to the last stop and then from there, take the bus. The place is covered in so many tulips, but I felt that the varieties were much more ample in Seattle. However, this place is covered in tulips and absolutely beautiful to see. You have to stop here if you're here in Holland from April to May.

Yelp
The Tulip Gardens is only open during the months of April and May, so I was grateful to get a trip during the blooming time. I went to the Keukenhof with my crew, and had an awesome time. This has been on my travel bucket list for the longest time, so I was so happy that I finally got to see it.The walks are full of colors and patterns that wow the eye. We visited this place in May, so the flowers were still in full bloom, but most of the narcissus were over. Food halls very efficient and not pricey for soup, but the coffee was a bit small for me. Then again, this is Europe! I guess I'm used to ordering grand sizes in America.

Yelp
Amazing really. We came here the Tuesday after Easter on a beautiful day. It was packed (but not quite to capacity like the days prior) but it was still easy to enjoy and admire what the place had to offer. It's easy to get around with the detailed map. We visited the windmill but didn't go in because of the long line and then stayed mostly around the kid-friendly part. The petting zoo was really nice with the baby lambs that kids could feed, rabbits and chickens. The maze was fun as was the zip line and other activities. A little disappointed that there was no WiFi throughout the park (they had it near the exits though and we needed it as we lost one of our party's members). Surprised also that dogs were allowed; yes leash required but still a minor nuisance.
