KEX Hostel and Hotel Reykjavik

I stayed here for one night and was happy with my stay. The room was clean and comfortable and I was grateful for the quiet attitude of those in my room. The bed was comfortable (albeit squeaky). I found the bathrooms to be clean. The kitchen area was clean enough, but I did notice the sponges etc were old and looked like they needed replacing. The staff working were kind. Iceland is an incredibly pricey country to visit and I found this hostel to be great value for money. It is in a central location, in easy walking distance to the sights of the city. I would recommend staying here.

Stayed here with my son for 3 nights. Its not the nicest part of Reykjavik because theres a lot of building work happening there, but the old town isn't far. The rooms are spacious and clean, I shared a twin room with my son. There are plenty of showers that are kept clean, a communal kitchen, and a nice bar downstairs. Lots of youngish people passing through, chilled vibe. We had a great stay. Would definitely recommend it.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The bedroom and private bathroom were clean and comfortable, which we really appreciated. The public bathroom was also tidy, though it lacked paper towels during our visit, and there was no hook or surface to hang jackets or place belongings, which was a bit inconvenient. The location was good, close to the city center, but being situated right next to a construction site did impact the stay. Check-in and check-out could have been smoother. Staff weren’t particularly service-minded during check-in, and there was no one at reception during check-out, which meant we had to wait around to leave our bags. One situation stood out in particular: as we were leaving the hotel, a staff member was working on the front door mechanism. Without saying anything, she triggered the door to begin closing while I was still in it. I couldn’t stop the door in time, even though i tried to push it, and nearly got squeezed. I had to step back quickly and ended up hurting my shoulder slightly. Only then did she say, “wait a moment.” A simple warning beforehand would have prevented the incident, it felt careless and unnecessary.

The location of hostel is good with a nice sea view. Room was clean and decently spacious. The community kitchen had basic utensils and some grocery. The bathroom lacked soap but were clean and usable. The restaurant was closed(Jul 2025) but served breakfast in morning.

I was in a 42 bed room and everything worked out because people respect the function as a place to rest. Beds are comfortable for a hostel dorm with stack beds. The idea to divide the room in compartments is amazing! It really works. The breakfast is awesome (though I can't afford it every day)! The staff is very kind and caring. Thanks for an affordable place to stay with ocean view:)

I had a fantastic stay! The 48 person dorm room wasn't bad since it was divided into 4 separate sections. The other night I stayed in the 6 person dorm that had a curtain. Both beds were super comfy. The check in guy with the rain cloud sweater was super friendly!!! It was a short walk from BSI bus terminal, the waterfront, and downtown! I would absolutely stay here again! They also had a huge personal shower room.

Great location and vibe and accomodations for the hostel. WiFi was really good. Beds and such comfy and clean. Very nice kitchen and bar. Bathrooms could've be a little cleaner/drains need cleaning

Great location for visiting the city, and close to bus stop for tourist excursions. Clean rooms that were very well kept up with, lockers to keep your personal belongings I recommend also buying the breakfast for the morning, it was a good spread and is quick and convenient
