Great place to run & do strides. Parking is easy. If you don’t want to pay for parking, park on a side street. Might be hard to park along the main street with all the cars constantly coming

Elisabeth Stocking

Google
The best spot in the city for a track workout. The track is public and free. Nearby parking is usually pretty easy to find. The track is a real hub of the local running community and it's easy to find 2-3 different clubs working out here on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Google
Great stadium to do track workouts. Well lit till 10pm. Super inspiring to see everyone run, can be daunting as well. Go run, free public access. Not sure if one can use the lawns for sports, I'm guessing no.

Ivan Martinez

Google
Kezar Stadium is home of SF City FC. Their USL2 matches are enjoyed under fog, sun or stadium lighting. Roll fog.

Google
Great 9-lane public track. As far as running tracks go, it's not the bounciest or fastest but it still holds a special place in my heart. Many a high school track meet has been held here and the atmosphere is always amazing. The track can be really busy at times with multiple running clubs running at the same time, but people usually will follow track etiquette. Love Kezar.

Google
Great track! Very spacious with nice weather! Good parking and able to do workouts! What a beauty!

My favorite part of San Francisco. I am a runner and love it here track workouts are my favorite.

A Fashionable Condition

Google
Kezar is a fully accessible outdoor stadium with a nicely vulcanized rubber track around futball pitch. this is a great place to go to exercise by yourself or with your personal trainer who keeps yelling at you constantly. it is nice and flat to do some laps and keep that upper body strength strong. got to maintain your body because our current oligarchy is basically hoping you'll die if you are disabled, in a wheelchair, or simply old. it is also pleasantly located around many food & drink venues and the upper Haight. the skateboard park is right next to the Cop Shop next door, so you should feel safe with all that bacon around. They have really managed to sanitize the upper Haight and the Panhandle so all you middle-class purse clutchers are going to be just fine. highly recommend a visit here on your way to Amoeba Records or Golden Gate Park!

Yelp
Kezar is in the heart of golden Hate Park. It's San Francisco parking, can be very difficult, especially during an event. I attended my granddaughter's graduation. We opted to pay parking $15. You pay at exit hang on to that ticket you are giving it entry . This is the original stadium, where the 49ers played football back in the day. The grounds are maintained very nicely. Plenty of staff on hand. The ceremony was on point. Happy to be back in the city by the bay and great memory to come to Kezar Stadium.

Yelp
Nice to watch a soccer game at kezar yesterday ..instead of baseball but to many males instead of women's games ..like a league of their own ..women's games

Yelp
When people think of the landmarks in San Francisco, they usually point out the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, Twin Peaks, & Alcatraz. However. "Kezar Stadium" is usually not brought up in conversations these days considering this place isn't frequented as much as previous decades. Located at the southeastern corner of Golden Gate Park off of Lincoln Way and Stanyan St., this historic multi-purpose stadium that is used for has been in operation ever since breaking ground way back in 1925. Since it was a little early for dinner, I came here on a whim during the afternoon of Friday 11/29/2024 at around 5:00pm. I parked nearby on Lincoln Way but there is a dedicated lot that is adjacent to the main entrance. Much to my surprise, this entire stadium is open to the public while the standard stadium hours are from 6:30am-10pm. What I particularly liked is how clean the grounds are here with an excellent running/jogging track, well-manicured natural grass on the field, a fully functional scoreboard w/public restrooms, and a respectable amount of seating on both sides of the field. From its long history, this stadium once seated up to 60,000 fans from 1925 until 1989; most notably the San Francisco 49ers that used it from 1946 to 1970. There has also been numerous collegiate games held here as well as track & field, rugby, lacrosse, soccer, and much more. The previous stadium was demolished in 1989 and downsized and rebuilt to its current setup that only seats a fraction of what it once seated at around 10,000 fans. These days, the stadium still holds graduation ceremonies, soccer matches, and various high school football games. All in all, "Kezar Stadium" is a piece of San Francisco history as it is located in a much quieter part of the city and away from all the hustle and bustle. All in all, I encourage everyone to check this place out if you haven't already. The grounds are kept very clean while the entire layout (even though this is a very densely populated city) to be spacious and open. My rating, an above average four stars.

Yelp
Wonderful relaxing place to be, nice track, field, and stairs for your morning exercise. Both the 49ers and the Raiders played here at some point. Some historical remnants of the original Kezar Stadium remains so you still feel the aura of the past. https://sanfrancisco.wingsdomain.com

Yelp
a great venue that serves as a multi-purpose event center! conveniently located at the southeast corner of golden gate park in the heart of san francisco. in the past, football games, soccer matches, track meets and other special events have taken place inside this stadium. i recently came to attend a high school graduation and this stadium felt massive in relation to the number of graduates, faculty and guests attending! entry was thru the southeast gate, so it was a bit of walk to get to the northwest part of the stadium, where the graduation ceremony was taking place. while there was plenty of seating, there was absolutely zero shade, esp @ high noon, and it was an unusually warm day in sf, so it was pretty warm and somewhat uncomfortable sitting there for 2 hrs. restrooms were conveniently located at the top level of where we sat, and there were also water fountains available (good for a warm day!) street parking is available along kezar dr, lincoln way, frederick st but be sure to check parking limitations so that you don't get a ticket! i lucked out and parked in a 3hr space on kezar dr so not only save $$ but had a short walk to the main gate. there were several lots offering discounted parking on this day, and there is are several parking structures nearby.

Yelp
I have come here a few times in the past few weeks to get a good work out in. Since the lockdown started, there are no gyms open so I was running outside and doing some at home workouts. Kezar is a blessing, it is huge, tons of bleachers / stairs, and the restrooms are open. You can run the inner track if you want something softer for your knees, or the outer track. The large outer track on top is about 1/3 miles. There are more people here training on the weekdays than on weekends. It is easy to practice social distancing, since this spot is huge. There are also security guards walking around, to ensure that people are maintaining social distance.

Yelp
Track Tuesdays are fun here at Kezar! I'm such a slow runner but coming out to Track Tuesdays helps me with my speed and pushes me harder than any other workouts I do. The best part is running with my friends who motivates me and pushes me harder than I push myself. So, whether you're a pro or a newb you will find so many different runners on this track supporting each other! Everyone who comes out here will get an amazing workout. Kezar is clean and with sunsets so gorgeous these days, who can resist! There's plenty of parking and also easily accessible by public transportation!

Yelp
Love this place. I go running here at least 4 days a week. Very few days out the years it's reserved but warn you ahead of time.

Yelp
I love running here! No complaints. I wish it was 24-7 because I like running at weird hours but their great. Wish there was accurate hours posted online. Great for just getting down to biz.
google avatar

Inigo M.

Yelp
We are beyond privileged to have our own public outdoor, all-weather track. Incomparably better than running on concrete. Pro-tip: Four laps to a mile on the innermost lane. There's a large section for workouts on one end of the track.

Yelp
I drive here with my family to watch my nephew play for Santa Cruz High in a basketball game versus Stuart Hall. The drive here from Santa Cruz was really nice. The cityscape in SF especially at night is really breathtaking. Arriving to the stadium though presented an issue of parking. Unless you pay for parking, you'll most likely have to drive around to find a spot. Although once we parked and walked into the stadium I was actually impressed. The gym style wasn't the typical stadium seating. The aisles were like ramps which kind of blended into the bench style seats for the audience. The home team had tons of home spirit which created an electric atmosphere. Stay Hall win the game with a last second three point shot.

Yelp
I attended a soccer game here for the SF Deltas about a month and half ago thanks to Yelp. I remember playing soccer whenever I was in high school. Lol.. although, I was mostly on the bench. Haha.. Anywho.. this place is a pretty nice stadium that's located in Golden Gate Park.

Yelp
I love this stadium, a call back to another era when some football stadiums were much more intimate, not these gigantic theaters relegated to the outskirts of the city. Despite its age, Kezar Stadium is beautifully maintained and used by lots of locals. When I was there, there were several groups of schoolchildren and 2-3 adults running the track and keeping fit. And every time I pass by the stadium, I can't help but think of that scene in "Dirty Harry" and marvel how much bigger and somewhat intimidating and sinister it looked on screen. In reality, Kezar Stadium is quite the opposite: Small, inviting and in a sunny spot in the Inner Sunset.

Yelp
Kezar Pavilion was built in 1924 adjacent to Kezar Stadium on the southeast corner of Golden Gate Park. Not too shabby-lookin' gymnasium for a 91 year old venue, if you ask me. It was home of the University of San Francisco Dons and even the University of Santa Clara Broncos for a brief period of time. It's probably more famous as the home of the Bay Bombers of the original Roller Derby fame from 1961 to 1973. I would love to have witnessed all the shenanigans that occurred here during that time, especially in the locker rooms. Not only basketball and roller derby, it's also been used for boxing, pro-wrestling (fake wrestling), real wrestling, numerous indoor sports and concerts. It seats about 4,000 on wooden benches and it has a very intimate atmosphere. That intimate atmosphere is magnified during the Pro-Am season during the summer. This is the only place where you can watch professional, semi-pro and NBA players up close without paying for a penny. You can also catch rising stars like Aaron Gordon, Jason Kidd and more before they went on to college and became legends. That list of players keeps growing and growing every summer. Due to the league's open roster policy; you can expect a superstar-caliber player play on any given night. If you're lucky, that player could be Damian Lilliard, Tyreke Evans, Jeremy Lin, Mitch Richmond, Matt Barnes and Baron Davis to name a few that have set foot on its hallowed grounds. And when all the stars are lined up right, you may catch Steph Curry suiting up and shooting threes from Half Moon Bay. Yeah, that happened last summer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgENwP5zSbo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gV138oIwC2g Best part of all, it's FREE.

Yelp
Love this place for an early afternoon run or walk. I change it up...between running the tracks or walking the more shaded elevated rim above the bleachers. It can get a bit crowded with people especially on a nice day. The sf food bank is stationed right outside if you want to stop by and bring home a bag of groceries. Two thumbs up
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Kind of annoyed they have monitors kicking me off the lower track during soccer games. I can only assume it's for safety, as I'm not in any way interfering with their game. Everything else about this place is gorgeous, and I'm sorry I neglected it so long during my time as a Sunset resident. Pretty clean bathrooms and a great track to exercise on.

Yelp
Legendary location. Dirty Harry. Led Zeppelin. San Francisco 49ers. A shell of the original structure this is the perfect place to run and workout. Feel like running the stairs? This place has you covered. My kids love pretending they are 49ers players at this stadium. How many former NFL stadiums are open 7 days a week to the public? Parking is simple. Luck out with street parking or park in the designated lot (it will cost you 6-8$).
google avatar

Erik H.

Yelp
$9 to watch my kid sit on a bench during a high school basketball game? I can get standing room only seats cheaper at an A's game Kezar is still an amazing place to play! You might as well be in a field house in the midwest. It has character than takes you back in time in San Francisco sports history. All the greats played here: Payton, Kidd, Lin, Phil Smith, and now each Summer the Summer league plays here. take in a game if you can. try and find Street parking though. $11 for a packed lot is expensive

Yelp
I was brave and decided to walk from the Mission to Outer Sunset, and my path brought me to Kezar Stadium. Don't get me wrong- I'd planned to run the track here before, but it didn't work out since I... didn't work out. I RECOMMEND placing your bike or any extra gear above the track if you're using it to commute to the stadium. There's no bikes or skating allowed along the entrance. I also recommend coming day or night. The space seems well lit for a nice evening workout, which works for folks on the 9-5/6 hustle. OVERALL a fast four stars. Perhaps one day I'll actually come to try the track out.
google avatar

Yelp
I love working out here since all the gyms are closed. It's pretty open and people are pretty good at social distancing.
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
My husband and I were here on a Saturday afternoon for a sprint workout. Parking was a breeze, there were only about 10 other people there and the stadium, track and field were very well-maintained. We're planning to come back weekly. A quick Google search will let you know when it's closed for events (which is not very often).

Yelp
I moved to SF not long ago and run into this gem (for those of us who are runners) by accident. It is perfect for training and there is a lot of people that run there. It has a great atmosphere. If you run at 3-4pm, you will mostly find college students running. If you get there at 6pm, you will find a lot of running clubs. All of them serious runners. Be careful if you run on a sunny day, because even though the thermometer could register a cold day, the sun and no shade make you feel you are in the middle of the summer. Two things to be cautious about. 1) even though the website says they open at 5am, they really open at 5:30 or so. 2) Sometimes they organize events and close the stadium. You can check the schedule here: http://sfrecpark.org/permits-and-reservations/stadium-rentals/kezar-events/ If there is an event, I would stay away that day because it has happened to me that they change the time without updating the website.
google avatar

R J.

Yelp
I've tried training here a few times, but I will not be back. First off, get the times right, Kezar. If you say you're open at 5AM, don't make me wait until 6AM to open. I made the effort to get up at an ungodly hour to get there, so can you. Second, there are WAY too many people who come here. You go on any given day, at any given hour and it's always crowded. It certainly makes training tough for the serious-minded athlete. Lastly, people with no common sense. If you're going to have a track meet, don't park yourselves in the middle of the track lanes to warm up. The people consistently running by should be your first clue. MOVE! Also, why do people who are dressed in hiking attire choose to walk in track lanes when they could go for a walk anywhere else? It's hard enough to find space to run without obstacles, please don't make it harder. The only positive thing I can say is that the track, itself, is nice, but the production it takes to use it is not worth it. SF, please build another track in the city. Until then, I'll go elsewhere.

Yelp
I was actually surprised at how well-maintained this public stadium was! My friend and I went here to check it out since I had never been here before. Great place to work out!
google avatar

Imelda G.

Yelp
So pleasantly surprised that this place is so well maintained! Very clean and very good lighting. Parking could be difficult but is worth circling around couple of times, for a good run here.
google avatar

Janice C.

Yelp
I hate running. That's why I only run on warm days. That's why I only run on flat surfaces. That's why I'm not a true athlete -- I'm a wimp and I know it. But Kezar stadium makes running more bearable: the surface is easier on the knees, it's fully open so I can get a lot of sun (well, relatively speaking!) and just being around people who are crazy runners and go hardcore training up and down the bleachers is ENOUGH to make me feel like an athlete. And, it's FREE. Who needs the gym?
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
Context: Evenings around 6-9PM and early mornings around 8-9AM. This is specifically for running on the track. Not for anything else. Location: I like the location. Its on Stanyan, its by the park. Its nice! Its a great local spot for those living in the Inner Sunset or Cole Valley. Hours/Lighting: I ran on the track and its open to the public which is great. I rather run on a track than through the park because its easier on the joints. The lights were on for awhile. They were on at least until 10PM which is the latest I have been there. Its not full stadium lighting, but its more than enough. When I'm tired of running in a circle and run up and down the bleachers. Quality: Hey, its a free resource! I can't really complain. Its a bit on the older end of things. The track has some ragged edges, etc. But its nice to know that there's a safe option. Ladies just don't go running by yourself late at night (you should buddy up whenever you go out! That's just a general rule). Anyway, you are not allowed on the grass though. There are signs posted everywhere telling people to stay off the grass. I honestly don't have much to complain about because 1) its public/free 2) it is open when I want it to be open. I do have one thing, but this is pure personal experience. I saw people bring in cases of beer and then line up in a starting line. Then, suddenly when the race started, they all chugged a can of beer and ran one lap as fast as they could and kept drinking beers every lap until they finished a full mile. I asked them what they were doing and it was exactly what it sounded like, its called, "The Beer Mile." I saw A LOT of vomiting that day. It was pretty hysterical, but if that's your thing apparently you can do that at Kezar. I feel bad for the poor person who had to clean it up. I apologize on behalf of these hilarious group of people.
google avatar

Craig R.

Yelp
History! That's why I love Kezar Stadium! Not only did the San Francisco 49ers play here for over two decades before moving to Candlestick Park, but Kezar has played host to many iconic rock bands like Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Santana and more. It was even featured in the movie Dirty Harry. Now a days, since it was demolished and rebuilt in 1989, the Stadium hosts high school football games, Lacrosse games and is used for folks who like to run around it's large track. Even though it's been about 25 years since Kezar was a fully functional Stadium, its still cool to visit a place that's hosted many memorable football games and concerts. If I lived in SF I would totally come to Kezar often to jog around its track.
google avatar

Mercy D.

Yelp
My new fitness guru introduced me to this stadium just recently and not only can you run the track or do push ups or lunges or squats or sit ups or yoga right on the grass/ground/asphalt (at the top of the bleachers on the outer ring of the stadium along the gates) you can basically bring a trx and do an all body workout right here! You don't even need a gym!! Security seems really solid (feels very safe) and it's been pretty clean as far as I could tell! The bleachers and part of the track do look a little worn down but doesn't seem to be a huge problem. I was worried about parking the first few visits but during the times I come it hasn't been a problem at all (however, school is not in session right now!! I'm sure I'll eat my words when that time comes). I see people of all ages come here to run or work out. Weekend mornings, they seem to like coming around 10 or 11 but didn't look like the track ever got crowded. Most people have been very nice and considerate with each other.

Yelp
No lie - Kezar is one of my favorite spots in the city to workout. I hate running. I think it's boring, repetitive, and whenever I'm doing it I'm always thinking about how I'd rather be doing something else. But when I'm at Kezar, my mindset is different. No matter how I'm feeling that day, it's always exciting to be on that field. Being only about a mile from my apartment, I can jog there, maybe do a few laps, and then do my all-time favorite cross-training activity: running stadium stairs. It's also a great place to do stretch, sit-ups, push-ups or run sprints, and that's why I love it - you can do it all. Not to mention for being an outdoor track stadium that's open to the public, it's a really beautiful place, and it's an added bonus that the city makes an effort to do the little things like maintain the grass and keep the ground clean.

Yelp
********Famous DNA's********* I used to live close to this area. I never failed to run in this clay covered oval. Something about a motivation coming from a famous person and he does not even know he was helping me stay active. I am referring to the one and only Joe Montana. I mean Joe and company sweated their stuff here before they got moved. Imagine scooping up a handful of dirt and having them tested just for the heck of it? I mean would you be interested? JM's DNA hell ya! Well now I do my runs inside a gym or my garage or a park next to where I live in the SB. But driving around Kezar area the other day reminded me of the wonderful runs I had and the people I met at the stadium.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great place to run- and the lights are on as early as six in the morning. Treadmills make me feel like a hamster. Kezar makes me feel glad to be alive in such a gloriously wonderful city.
google avatar

Carlos A.

Yelp
Kezar stadium is an absolute gem. In most places to have a track of this caliber you would need to sneak onto a high school or college. In SF it's public, free and always has tons of runners. Every night of the week you'll see people training here. Thank you city of San Francisco!
google avatar

Roxie P.

Yelp
My late grandpa used to take my uncle to that place when the latter was a kid...and now my uncle is taking me there time and time again. It's a pretty good park, where you get to bring your dog (and have that dog play with other dogs), walk around the Golden Gate Park nearby, plant a community garden, go to the stadium nearby, etc. I highly recommend it!
google avatar

Bennett W.

Yelp
Living in San Francisco for 24 years, I've entered Kezar Stadium only once and it was the month before my middle school graduation. My homeroom teacher Mr. Jay Cunningham suggested we volunteer to help out with the special olympics. But of course, this choice was optional. I actually enjoyed the environment in Kezar Stadium. It is in the Southeast corner of Golden Gate Park. If you intend to drive there, be prepared that at certain times you might have to spend some time circling around for street parking that is. The best alternative is arrange for someone to drive you or take public transpotation. One of the easily accessible bus line is MUNI route 71.

Yelp
I joined the KRR officially in November of 2007, but didn't make it to a track work out until I made running faster a New Years Resolution. Since January I have been running around a track Wednesday nights at 6:45. Attendance ranges from about 12-25 people in all levels of speed and abilities, although I would say, the majority seem to be more experienced runners, who have competed, or participated in running events, marathons, half marathons, tris, and even running their best 5 or 10K . Typical work outs range in speed, and distances on the track and end up being between 3.5-5 miles each time. I have found I am not the only person who has found the first work out to be the hardest one they have done. Track workouts are designed by Coach Joe, who started the group about 8 years ago, and probably has missed less than 10 work outs in that entire time. A weekly email is sent out through Yahoo groups which includes an inspirational quote, and additionally shout outs to members of the groups about their running accomplishments, and their personal milestones. (Babies, marriages, etc.) Workouts are ended with a beer or three at Kezar Pub, and occasionally Finnegans when Kezar is just too crowded. So grab a friend, don your tech shirt and to quote the signoff of every Wednesday group email: "See you on the run!"

Yelp
The perfect place for pace training. A lot of marathon runners train here. Part of marathon training is speed training. The routine goes similar to this: 1. Stretch legs very lightly 2. 10 Jumping Jacks (wake up the heart) 3. Do 4 50 yard sprints (to stretch the larger leg muscles) 4. Jog 4 laps slowly 5. Then walk around a lap 6. Run 4 laps at a fairly fast effort (80-90% maximum effort) 7. walk around a lap. 8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 3-4 times. 9. Jog four laps slowly. The primary focus is to try to have identical lap times at the same at a fast running pace to learn how to manage pacing. The light jogs ultimately end up being the marathon pace to use. If you continue practicing this, over time, your jogs will become faster and hence you increase the likelihood of having a personal best marathon time. In marathon running, pacing is essential. This track is perfect for such training. If you have any of an assortment of runner's injuries, this track is the perfect place to rehabilitate yourself. The track is very soft and easy on the legs.

Yelp
San Francisco has to be one of the best cities in our country. Absolutely wonderful place. San Francisco has breathtaking landscape beauty, amazing food from non chain restaurants, and gorgeous, kind, friendly people. Kezar Stadium is right smack in the middle of Golden Gate Park. This park is such a tremendous place of tranquil beauty. Read the separate reviews on the park. Lovely victorian homes all around, green, green and more green with majestic trees, amazing activities, museums and this sports stadium. What an interesting piece of history. The 49ers played here here in the 40's Lol I like saying that. They have remodeled it some but they still have the older bench seating.( ouch-ha) It is hard to believe how different things were back then. Did less people go to football games? I suppose so. Now the local soccer team plays here and my SF friends tell me they had or have concerts here too. I visited to watch a Delta's soccer game this week. I hate that we tend to tear down our older and historical buildings and structures to keep upgrading. I love the older pieces of our history. Now, the stadium is not the same as the new fancy ones with all the bells and whistles, fancy snack shop options, and built in team shops but still nice. Of course the location can not be beat. Golden Gate park is breathtakingly gorgeous! From our side of the stadium they had a covered snack shop tent and one set of bathrooms. All the staff members were beyond helpful and friendly.

Yelp
Came here for the SF Deltas game last night. Cute old little field with a great view of the game. Reminded me a bit of High School football games as the field was surrounded by a track. Beautiful weather when we first arrived but became very cold very quickly. Wasn't a sell out game either so it was hard to keep warm with the lack of body heat around us. Decent beer selection but long line and not enough counters. Same with food, decent average stadium selection but way too long of a line. Ended up having to buy a hoodie because I was freezing my ass off so I would highly recommend bringing lots and lots of layers!

Yelp
Beautiful stadium to run in. When there are high school track meets or soccer games (and sometimes even practices) you're not allowed to run on the lower track. If you want to avoid getting yelled at by the lady mentioned in previous reviews (she's actually kind of nice): 1) Make sure the paths leading from the upper track to the lower track aren't blocked off by a sign that reads "Track and Field Closed". 2) Get your workout done before 2 or after 5 on weekdays. 3) Find an invisibility cloak. Alternatively, the upper track (I think it's asphalt) is open, and the stairs on the north side of the stadium are also usually empty and free to use during events. Whenever I'm running here on a regular, non-track meet day, there's usually one, one-stalled restroom open by the upper track (in the building on the south side of the stadium). Note..you'll find it on the *side* of the building, so if the restroom door is locked, go around the corner and try the other door..they're separate! ** If you have to run on the upper track, 2.5 laps = 1 mile (1 lap = 0.4 mi). ** Another useful tool in case your shoes don't come with a built-in pedometer: mapmyrun.com. Yelp
homegirl: "Dammit, tomorrow is going to be crazy at my gym! All those damn people with New Year's Resolutions!" me: "No kidding. My gym too and it's a local tiny gym!" hg:"Do you have a New Year's Resolution?" me: "I have a few. Nothing really character development -ish. I don't care to try to be a better person." hg: "That's right. No need to better yourself emotionally and mentally" me: "Exactly! I just want to tone up and get laid! Or at least work out more consistently so I can maintain my current weight since I'm always drinking booze." hg: "So what are your other resolutions?" me: "Running bleachers at Kezar to give my ass less flab and more FAB. Get more clients for work. Not go on Yelp Talk Threads since they make me angry." hg: "Yelp? " me: "The Internet thingy I told you about! It's a main catalyst for my booze-fests, too" hg: "Oh yeah...computers aren't my thing. I don't even have a MySpace. Bleachers at Kezar?!? Really?" me: "Hells yeah...I want a nicer booty than J-Lo! I'll be sore as hell but it's worth it." hg: "Well don't loose the booty you already have! You don't want to get Flatbutt." me: "Honey...with my Latina genetics I don't think it's possible."

Yelp
Kezar was once home to the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders. Now, what is it great for? -Great for track and/or sprint running. Slower runners should use the outside lanes; faster runners on the inside. (Note: 4 laps is equivalent to 1 mile.) -Great for glute work. Use their benches to sprint up and down, then side to side, and repeat to the second set of benches located across the stadium. The break between each set of stairs gives you that perfect pause of momentum between reps. (You can also do push-ups up and down the benches, too.) -Great for practicing soccer. The grass field in the middle and the goals on each side work just fine. My soccer team and I practiced here on Thursdays. There was plenty of room on the field for different groups to practice simultaneously. Tips: -Dress warm. SF can be cold. -Bathrooms are available, but are closed. -Stadium is lit at night. (Be weary of panhandlers.) -Food trucks are located outside the stadium on select days.

Yelp
I LoVe Kezar! With my first full-time job out of college, paying off loans and credit cards, and impulsive shopping tendencies, I have become too cheap to get a gym membership. But why get a gym membership, when I can get some good ol' fashion exercise at the local track! Kezar rocks! First of all, its FREE! I get to run as fast as I want, as long as I want without someone giving me dirty looks to hurry up. Don't you hate that? When you're at the gym trying to get your cardio on with only 5 mins left to go, and the next guy is giving you dirty looks to get off. Second, the bleachers. In addition to the track, running up and down those bleachers are even better for toning the legs and shaping up the buns of steal. Third, it's all outdoors. After a long day at the office, being outside and taking in the fresh air is just calming. Well, at least for me. PROPS to all those dedicated to get back in shape for 2008! Recommendations/Notes: Wear SPF on sunny days, it gets hott! Use both inner and outer tracks for variety Use the Bleachers 4 laps = 1 mile

Yelp
Can't believe I have lived in SF for well over a year now and had never been here! Its awesome that there is a track open to the public. A word of advice, make sure to check http://sfrecpark.org/wp-content/uploads/Kezar-Stadium-Schedule-May-2015-pdf.pdf to see if there are any events going on. Other than that, I believe it is open until 9:30 pm and the lights come on after dark so you can keep doing you. I was surprised by how nice the track was ( apparently it was renovated recently) This place really made me wonder what else is inside GGP that I don't know about... I went for the first time around 8PM on a Monday to run the stairs with a couple laps in between. There were probably about 4 other people there and it seemed like I had the place to myself! I entered through the gates on Frederick because all the gates on Stanyan confused me and had parked cars. I will definitely be coming here frequently.

Yelp
The track here has been a life saver for me the past year. Recovering from back surgery I've been stuck sticking to walking as a workout but I get so bored on a treadmill and concrete isn't forgiving enough for now, this is a great space to have the extra cushioning and also be outside. So glad this has been an available option

Yelp
Doesn't open at 5am like the website lists... they open at random times and their bathrooms are always locked. I would not recommend going here, they should be defunded at this rate.

Yelp
What's the point of writing this review? It's not like SF Park & Rec is going to care. Here's my two cents anyway: This place has such potential. Hell, it used to be a pro football stadium forcrissake! I enjoy my track workouts here, but the experience leaves a lot to be desired. The internal grass is immaculate. But the track is in BAD need of resurfacing. It is barely more forgiving than concrete. How about a few more lights on at night, rather than just the bare minimum? At least the grass Nazi is gone. And people: the inside two lanes are not for walking or slogging. You may not think you are one of the slow ones, but actually, you are. Move over please.

Yelp
Infodiva here with #59 of Yelp Reviews. Fanfare Please. This is a nostalgic review. Happy Turkey Day. This is local flavor baby. Kezar Stadium is a stadium located in the southeastern corner of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. It is the former home of the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers of the NFL and the current home of the San Francisco Dragons of the MLL and the California Victory of the USL First Division. It also hosts amateur and recreation sports leagues, as well as numerous San Francisco high school football games (including the City Championship, known popularly as the "Turkey Bowl") http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/11/22/SP27TGP3V.DTL This is what has me waxing poetic today. I want to write in Italian also. Lo Stadio chiama "Kezar" famoso per il 49ers e tanti eventi. aaah betta. Kezar Stadium Location 755 Stanyan Street San Francisco, California 94117 Broke ground 1924 Opened May 2, 1925 Owner The City and County of San Francisco Operator San Francisco Recreation and Park Department Surface Grass Construction cost $300,000 USD (original structure) Architect Willis Polk Tenants San Francisco 49ers (NFL/AAFC) (1946-1970) Oakland Raiders (AFL) (1960) San Francisco Dragons (MLL) (2006--) California Victory (USL-1) (2007) San Francisco Freedom (PC) (2004) Capacity 59,942 (1925-1989) 9,044 (1990-present} In 1922, the San Francisco Park Commission accepted a $100,000 gift from the estate of Mary Kezar. The gift was intended to build a memorial in honor of Kezar's mother and uncles who were pioneers in the area. After the City and County of San Francisco appropriated an additional $200,000 the stadium was built in a year. Dedication ceremonies were held on May 2, 1925 and featured a two-mile footrace between Ville Ritola and Paavo Nurmi of Finland, who were two of the greatest runners of their day. The stadium had many uses in the 1930s. In addition to track and field competitions, Kezar Stadium also hosted motorcycle racing, auto racing, rugby, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, boxing and football. The stadium was also the home field of several local schools such as Santa Clara University, University of San Francisco, St. Mary's College of California and the now defunct San Francisco Polytechnic High School. In 1926 the Stadium also became the home of the East-West Shrine Game. In the 1928 city championship game between San Francisco Polytechnic and Lowell High School a crowd of over 50,000 people saw the matchup between the bitter cross-town rivals. That game still holds attendance records for a high school football game in Northern California. Kezar Stadium was also the home to two different professional football teams. The San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders both began their existence at the stadium. The Raiders played at Kezar during their first season and at Candlestick Park during their second season, before Frank Youell Field was built as a temporary facility in Oakland. The 49ers moved to a more modern and accessible stadium at Candlestick Park in 1971 after losing the 1970 NFC Championship Game to the Dallas Cowboys, 17-10, on January 3, 1971 in their final game at Kezar. Kezar Stadium, as shown in the film Dirty Harry Several scenes from the film Dirty Harry were filmed there later in 1971. With the loss of professional football in the 1970s the stadium became an outdoor concert venue with many well known acts of its time performing there. Its proximity to the Haight-Ashbury District probably helped with the stadium's transformation to a concert venue. Noted musicians who performed at Kezar included Led Zeppelin, The Doobie Brothers, Jefferson Starship, Tower of Power, Joan Baez, The Grateful Dead, Carlos Santana, Neil Young and the only San Francisco show by Throbbing Gristle. Loma Prieta earthquake After suffering extensive damage in the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989, Kezar was rebuilt with a much smaller seating capacity. The upgrades included an eight-lane, all-weather track and a large grass athletic field suitable for soccer, football and lacrosse.[1] Kezar's resurrection as a 10,000-seat stadium was planned before the Loma Prieta Earthquake. The field and track configurations remained the same. A replica of the original concrete arch bearing the name "Kezar Stadium" was built on the west side of the stadium as a tribute to the original structure. aaaaah but I digress. My Mom has her memories of Kezar, although I don't think she has ever been inside. Fact. Turkey Day 1982 Mom had a new Toyota Yellow Carolla. She drove pep squad members to Kezar. We sat on her car. How she managed to cook a Turkey and entertain the same day I will never know. Mommas are amazing. I am thnkful for mine cooking away since 6:00am yum yum eatin is good in the neighborhood. Infodiva audi Happy Turkey Day Yelpers. Grazie~!

Yelp
Hey, it's NOT closed to the public and it's still awesome! It's the place where I broke my "running at least 10 MPH" cherry. Even if it was only for 100 yards. And really, isn't most cherry-popping a very fleeting moment?
