K'gari Explorer Tours

Fantastic experience, highly recommend. Steve and Taylor did a great job guiding our tour. We did the day trip option. What to expect: Pickup from our Scarness hostel via coach, short ferry ride (30m to the island), then a short walk to the busses. Here's why I recommend this company over others: their buses are amazing, fastest vehicles on the island (we were passing everyone else) and quite comfortable, though the ride will be very bumpy. There was a quick rest stop before the first main stop, Eli Creek. I recommend wearing your swimsuit under your clothes for quicker transition, also bring a towel and floaty. Then we visited the Pinnacles (probably the least interesting stop) and the shipwreck (cool but getting buried by sand), followed by buffet lunch. Afternoon we visited central station to do a natural walk with some history, pretty short and can be done in flip flops, but bugs were a problem for some here (recommend a long sleeve cover and/or bug spray). Last stop was a swim in McKenzie Lake; quite refreshing though it was already cooling off at this point. Then we had a quick return ferry ride and drop off at hotel via coach. If we had known about it, we might have tried to stay at the island resort, but a hotel in/around Hervey Bay is perfectly fine.

Awesome day tour taking in the beauty spots on K'gari. Our tour guide/driver Geoff was simply the best. Highly knowledgeable, patient and just a great all round guy. Our highlights were definitely the morning, being Lake Mackenzie and the rainforest walk from Central Station, simply stunning. Really beautiful part of the world and Geoff's knowledge and obvious considerable research over the years really helped us understand how the Island came to be and its indigenous roots.

A day trip to K’Gari (Fraser Island) has to also be on the bucket list if one has gone to Hervey Bay! Saw so much of the island considering it was just a day tour and had an awesome buffet lunch at the K’gari Beach Resort. Absolutely incredible! I did the two day tour from Rainbow Beach and was driven and guided by both Jean and Keith, they were both fabulous, it’s clear they both love their jobs and were super enthusiastic throughout the whole trip. Also the staff and food at the K’gari Beach Resort were amazing 😍 Highly recommended !!

I had one of the best day tours of my life on K’gari Island from Hervey Bay, and a huge part of that is thanks to the absolute legend himself — KEITH. From the very start, Keith was punctual, friendly, charismatic, knowledgeable, and overflowing with positivity. His passion for K’gari is contagious. He showed deep respect for the history, the land, and the people, and I genuinely learned so much about this incredibly beautiful and sacred island. It wasn’t just a tour, it was an education delivered with heart. What truly sets Keith apart is how effortlessly he handles challenges. Even with unexpected curveballs like changing buses due to a breakdown and adjusting lunch schedules, everything was tackled to perfection without impacting the tour experience at all. Smooth, calm, professional, most people wouldn’t have even realised anything had gone wrong. Keith’s energy lifts everyone around him. He was constantly giving compliments, to passing drivers, the assistant on the shuttle ship, resort staff, and you could immediately tell everyone loves Keith. That kind of respect and connection doesn’t happen by accident. As for driving skills… WOW. Keith is a master of 4WD driving. Navigating narrow, tortuous forest tracks and sandy beaches with changing tides, he ensured the safety of everyone onboard at all times, with absolute confidence and professionalism. You felt completely safe while still enjoying the thrill of the terrain. And then there’s the iconic Aussie humour and wicked music taste. Keith turned the journey into a full experience with classic Aussie tunes, creating an atmosphere that was fun, immersive, and unforgettable. The karaoke sing-along was the cherry on top, pure joy and laughter that brought the whole group together. This was hands down THE BEST tour ever, and that is entirely because of Keith. If you’re lucky enough to have him as your guide, you’re in for something truly special. Thank you, Keith! You made K’gari unforgettable. 🇦🇺🌊🌿

We had a great day doing the K’gari Island Explorer Tour. A long day but well worth it. Our guide David was great, full of fun facts and took good good care of us. Do it, you won’t regret it!

Late August we booked a 3 day getaway package with K'Gari Explorer Tours. It was the best way for us to experience K'Gari. We visited all the best spots with no stress about driving, tides, etc. It was well organised and the accommodation was great. We LOVED the 2 day tour with our Guide Keith! He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, respectfully sharing the culture of the Butchulla people throughout the trip. Throw in lots of humour, music and wonderful commentary and you have Keith! Thanks for making our trip fabulous.
