12 new family-friendly attractions to visit in Asia - SilverKris

"Nestled on the outskirts of Khao Yai National Park, this 210-acre open-air museum (opened February 2025) blends contemporary art with nature through interactive sculpture gardens, curated nature trails and large-scale installations by international artists such as Fujiko Nakaya and Louise Bourgeois. Families can take guided walks, wander among towering trees, picnic amid artwork and discover pieces that appear organically throughout the forested landscape." - SilverKrisandRebecca Wong

We have been lookkng forward to our visit so much and was very excited to be there! It was so quiet and calm, just the way we liked it! We were greeted so lovely by staff. We got to store two hand-luggages at the reception as well. I misunderstood and didn't book our lunch in advance, which you have to, because the kitchen needs to know prior because of allergies and such. But the staff were amazing and did a special one for us, even when my partner was allergic to peanuts and stonefruits. We had trouble with our QR-scans for payment, but they sorted it out so nicely and effortlessly. I recommend to book in advance, as this will save lots of trouble and time for staff, yourself and other visitors! They also offered us boots, since it had been raining so much the previous night. We caught a bit of rain when we left at 6pm. But the rain gave an even more beautiful experience, in our opinion! The Fog-Forest was truly amazing!!! We wandered for a couple hours and got to experience the mighty beauty of Khao Yai! Thank you so much for having us 🪻 We will definitely be back!

Entrance ticket was a bit steep (500 baht) but overall it was a nice experience. The absolute HIGHLIGHT was the fog show. Amazing. The grounds were well kept with lots of staff that were very friendly. There was free water bottles around and it started raining a bit so staff gave us free raincoats which were sweet.

My main highlight of my short getaway in Khao Yai. Open only from Thursday to Sunday. You can purchase tickets online or on-site, check their Instagram page for updates before visiting. The staff are kind, and all the artworks are amazing, especially the fog installation, which was my favorite. ✨

I had no idea what to expect! I drove past a sign and thought I’d check it out. From the first security guard through to the lady at reception I was greeted with huge smiles and friendly faces. ฿500 entry is quite a lot but it’s DEFINITELY worth every penny! Make sure you catch the fog forest, it’s an experience I will never forget. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful! They have lunch and dinner packages too but I arrived a little late for both but they looked amazing too! I would recommend this to ANYONE!!!

The most beautiful part of the art forest is the forest itself, the art is Secondary! The staff and the reception area helped to make the trip worthwhile! I'm sure the Kbar was good however it wasnt open at the time of our visit. The fog by the Japanese artist was probably good as well but only works at 4pm so we missed that as well.

Ignore google map times - very much open. Click the ticket link on the website and there you find information. Excellent setting, art is secondary but well worth a visit

# Khao Yai Art Forest Review: What to Expect on a Regular Visit Recently visited Khao Yai Art Forest during their special “Farewell to Maman” event. Here’s what you can expect on a normal visit versus what I experienced during this unique farewell weekend. ## The Main Attraction: Maman (Until August 17, 2025) Louise Bourgeois’s massive bronze spider sculpture “Maman” is the star - over 9 meters tall and incredibly impressive in person. This world-famous artwork (similar pieces are at major museums like Guggenheim Bilbao) will be leaving Thailand after August 17, so catch it while you can. The sculpture represents motherhood and protection, beautifully integrated into the forest setting. ## Regular Visit vs. Special Event **What I experienced (special event day):** - Large crowds, VIPs, media coverage - K-Bar opened early with exclusive one-day-only cocktails - Special performances and activities **What to expect normally:** - K-Bar typically opens at 4 PM (not daily - check schedule) - Regular cocktail menu available - Quieter, more peaceful atmosphere - Other art installations throughout the forest ## Practical Tips - **Walking**: Extensive walking required through forest trails - **Weather**: Can get muddy when raining - **Time needed**: 3-5 hours depending on your pace - **Food**: Good local cuisine available ## Bottom Line Worth visiting for the world-class art in a unique natural setting. The Maman sculpture alone justifies the trip, but only until mid-August 2025. Not ideal if you prefer comfortable indoor venues or dislike long walks. **Rating**: 4/5 ⭐

• An outdoor art space featuring the iconic Maman spider sculpture (on display here until 17 August 2025). • I didn’t join the full exhibition (500 THB per person), but visiting Maman alongside the % Arabica pop-up store was already worthwhile. • The access road isn’t great, but not as bad as some earlier Google reviews suggested. • Staff are kind and attentive. There isn’t much else to see, but overall, the experience exceeded my expectations.
