Khaomao-Khaofang Imaginary Jungle

This is a jaw-droppingly gorgeous restaurant. We arrived quite early for lunch on a rainy day and had the place almost to ourselves at first, which made it especially pleasant to walk around and take in the setting. The tropical scenery is impressive, and the decoration is tasteful throughout, from the pondside terrace all the way to the surprisingly elaborate restrooms. We also managed to get a table right by the water, which certainly didn’t hurt. I had read some mixed reviews about the service, but perhaps because it wasn’t busy, I found it perfectly competent. The food itself is not the main reason to come here. It’s not bad at all, just fairly standard Thai cooking, exactly what you’d expect. In that sense, it doesn’t quite match the surroundings, but it’s absolutely fine. Prices are reasonable. We paid around 600 baht for the two of us, which, given the setting, is really nothing to complain about. We had the northern hors d’oeuvre platter, a minced catfish salad, and a red curry with snails. None of the dishes were outstanding, but all were solid. 4 stars for the food, but 5 for the whole experience.

For a Michelin restaurant, the food was not up to standard. I didn't feel like there was anything amazing - minus points for the strangely cooked egg on my crispy morning glory which had a half-hard yolk. The waiting duration in between dishes could be quite erratic; the first dish arrived quite fast but I had to wait about 10-15 minutes in between dishes. Also, there seemed to be waiters with special needs(?) zipping around the restaurant quite recklessly with the trolleys. It was quite unnecessary and baffling to observe. Though, for a Michelin restaurant, the price point was really fantastic and affordable. The menu was also quite extensive and you'd be spoilt for choice. The scenery was the real saving grace here. The plants were all real and emaculately maintained. Even the toilet was scenic. Take note that tour groups love coming here and you might be safer making a reservation though the restaurant is super big.

I’ve visited this restaurant 3 times over the past couple of years and it consistently meets or exceeds my expectations. The lake, waterfalls, and surrounding trees create an amazingly beautiful atmosphere. The food and drink are great and the price is very reasonable given the overall quality and stunning ambience.

We went there for dinner after it was recommended by the receptionist at our hotel. It’s definitely touristy but the atmosphere was amazing with the waterfalls, and it entertained our kids. The food was okay, not the best we had in Chiang Mai. I ordered the northern pork curry with ginger and it was lukewarm when it arrived which was disappointing. Not sure why it was a Michelin restaurant as the food was not amazing. Luckily the service was good, and our waitress was attentive.

I rated 5/5 but actually for the food only 4/5. We ordered: - pineapple rice: very good, a bit sweet, taste soft and a bit sour, but 200 is a bit high because no seafood inside i think. - Salty pork: too salty and sour for me and my friend even we ate with rice, should not order this. - Seafood salad: only squid, a few shrimps and fish balls, not good enough for a salad. - Crab Omelete: very good, highly recommend, taste crunchy and not oily, i think this is a must try here. - Mango sticky rice: should not order, not as good as outside, no coconut milk, a small piece of mango and cost 180, not worth any. We rated this high score also because of their friendly and fast service.

This is a great place for special occasions. We came for lunch on a Friday afternoon and the food was excellent. They have a vast variety of Thai and some western dishes and a long list of drinks. Prices are average for this quality thai food.

Many tourists come here to eat. There are a lot of green plants and the environment is great. We ordered a duck dish and it was surprisingly delicious. I haven't eaten duck in Chiang Mai for a long time. I thought it was only available in Chinese restaurants.
