Kiat O Cha Restaurant

We accidentally bumped into this chicken rice shop while we were looking for a parking spot. What really stood out was the heritage (established 1957!). Eating here was like going back in time. I always appreciate eating at restaurants that are able to retain their original look and feel (you can tell they are family members or old staff that are like family members), and sadly it’s becoming a rarity. Food and drinks were all good. Rice portion was very small which was perfect for tasting. Better save quota for to experience the many cafes and restaurants around. :)

Five star no doubt. As a Chinese you will love the family style operations where they shout out orders and give you auntie like smiles and suggestions on what to order, no matter you speak English, Chinese or Thai. Ordered big portion chicken and 1 rice. Turns out the rice is the best I have ever tasted. Soaked and steam in chicken soup, not too oily, and color is light yellow indicating no much seasoning other than simple soup and salt probably. Complimentary soup is also on point. Chicken skewers freshly made also very yummy.

Chicken was okay not the juciest, can try if your craving for chicken rice, the rice tough was very nice also the soup was nice. No idea why they don't turn the fan on during midday when it was so hot, not one fan was turned on, weird.

One of the worst chicken rice I have had in Thailand after trying more than 50 chicken rice places across this country. It does not taste as good as many others I have tried, but the prices here are higher. The portion of rice is small and they charge extra for it if you want “chicken rice”. Chicken rice is such a good food, so even this bad quality of chicken rice is an ok food. The best thing here was the chicken soup and it’s the only thing worth getting.

Very simple and unpretentious places to have Hainanese or Fried Chicken and satay. Place is pretty big and they start early so you can have one for breakfast.

I was rather disappointed with this famous chicken rice restaurant . The chicken meat , is so rough and dry . Luckily the rice come with soup . The satay is much better , comparing to the chicken . The iced Thai milk tea was too sweet for me .

Huge regret for trying this "famous" chicken rice. Even our guide recommended this place. But after having the chicken rice and the satay, which some of the satays were actually not fully cooked. I was chewing the chicken satay and quickly spat out when realised the meat was still chewy and not cooked thoroughly. Immediately within the next hour i vomited 4 times. Thankfully i had medications on hand. And my friend developed fever and infection the next day which the doctor said its due to uncleaned food. The food was mediocre at best and the food poisoning for both of us is enough to be said for this shop.
