The Ultimate Kenya Itinerary for Couples, Families, and Friends

"From Nairobi, it’s a short flight west to the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, for a few nights at Kicheche Valley Camp, a six-tent retreat where 'birds take flight and animals casually saunter by,' as Rothschild puts it." - Leora Rothschild

Absolutely amazing camp for our safari in Kenya. From the moment we arrived the service was outstanding and they truly went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special. Our guide Esther was fantastic and so knowledgeable, we loved having her. The entire staff was incredible - every single person we encountered was happy, positive, and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We were so sad to leave, we truly felt like we were saying goodbye to family at the end of our trip. We can't recommend Kicheche Valley Naboisho enough, highly recommend!

We spent 5 nights at Kicheche Valley Camp in June for our honeymoon, and it exceeded expectations! Each member of the staff is kind and helpful - we felt so welcomed, and they took great care of us for our entire stay! Minnie, Nelson, and our guide Johnson were all amazing. The accommodations are very comfortable, the location in Naboisho is beautiful, and the animal viewing was ample! There were so many little touches that made everything feel extra hospitable, like the coffee/tea delivered to the tent in the mornings and the hot water bottles in the beds after dinner. The safari vehicles are very cool and have open tops so you can stand up for an unimpeded view. The food at the camp is delicious and we were very well-fed the whole time! Our massages with Faith were great too. We would absolutely recommend this camp to anyone, and hope to come back someday! 🙏🏻💕

Possibly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. The team at Kicheche Valley camp were outstanding and Minnie’s management is first class. Nothing is left to chance, every tiny detail is thought of and prepared before we’d even know we’d need it. The staff were amazing, from the lodge team to the knowledgeable guides, we were made to feel like old friends within minutes of arriving and despite only staying for 3 short nights, the warm hospitality made it feel like we’d been there for weeks! Our tent was very well appointed, hard wood floors, hot showers, plenty of hanging/storage space and huge comfortable bed (including night time hot water bottles)! Great food and drinks selection, set menus daily but everything was delicious with no complaints from us but they were incredibly accommodating for guests who had dietary requirements or preferences and made it work for all. Special mention for Jamlex our guide who was great fun and very accommodating. Amazing knowledge and made sure he helped us get the best sightings for our trip! This is not a cheap stay but 100% excellent value for money and well worth the expense. We’d barely been gone 12 hours before we started planning the next time we could come back and stay!

WOW. My wife and I came here and to the Laikipia camp for our honeymoon, and it's hard to describe how brilliant the experience was. The game viewing was absolutely stunning with our kind, hard working guide Esther. And the camp. Woah. We were lucky enough to be in the suite, which was about the most luxurious thing we could imagine. There were so many beautiful little touches in the way that we were taken care of that it would be impossible to list, but suffice to say that Minnie is a very, very special person and her and her team went far above and beyond to make our stay completely magical. We're counting the days until we can come back!

Kicheche Valley Camp exceeded every expectation and deserves every bit of its stellar reputation. It’s important to note that my review is solely based on the camp itself and the incredible service provided, rather than wildlife sightings, which can naturally vary. From start to finish, this was an impeccable experience, showcasing the very best of what a safari camp can offer. Minnie and her team run a seamless operation, creating an environment of warmth and efficiency that makes every guest feel welcomed. The attention to detail in every aspect of the camp is remarkable. Housekeeping was outstanding, special thanks to Shelia, whose efforts were nothing short of exceptional. Having stayed in over 40 camps, I can confidently say that this was the best housekeeping I have ever experienced. Every return to the tent was met with spotless surroundings and thoughtful touches that truly elevated the stay. The culinary experience was another standout aspect. The food was consistently superb - beautifully presented, delicious, and varied. It’s rare to find a camp where the quality of dining matches the luxury of the accommodations, but Kicheche Valley Camp does this effortlessly. As for the guiding, Mika is in a league of his own. He is not just a guide but a master storyteller, spotter, and tracker all rolled into one. His ability to weave narratives around the wildlife, landscape, and local culture added a unique layer of richness to every drive. The camp itself is comfortable and brilliantly designed, with beautifully designed tents that blend into the natural surroundings and offering great views of the valley. From the luxurious bedding to the eco-conscious amenities, every detail has been thoughtfully considered. The communal spaces are wonderful with a lovely ambience that encourages relaxation and connection with the surroundings and other guests. What truly sets Kicheche Valley Camp apart is the genuine hospitality and the sense of family that Minnie and her team cultivate. You are not just a guest here; you are treated like a cherished friend. From the warm greetings after every game drive to the personal touches that make the camp feel like home, it’s clear that every member of the team takes immense pride in what they do. For anyone seeking a safari where the camp itself is comes close to being the highlight - offering exceptional service, outstanding guiding, and a perfect blend of luxury and authenticity, Kicheche Valley Camp is truly unparalleled. It has set a new standard for me, and I would return in a heartbeat. Thank you to Minnie, Mika, Shelia, and the entire team for an unforgettable stay!

This camp is very undestated and gorgeous. Upon arrival it looks like maybe you have booked a camp that is too simple, but very soon you realize what a special place is and how wonderful the staff is. The tents are gorgeous and completely througth out, even with charging bars in all the right places - rare in Kenya. Everyone immediately calls you by first name which is very welcoming. The have fire pits at night for heat and ambiance made from locally sourced materials, no wood or coal, very clean burning. Minnie is the camp manager and has her eye on everything. The safaris with Mika was unbelievable, so much wildlife no matter when. Mika has an absolute eagle eye. He can spot a lion or leopard lying in the grass at least 2 km away. He does take queues from the other animals, but still incredibly observant. We had amazing massages in the spa by Faith. So relaxing. The full cooked breakfast in the bush was delicious. Very deluxe. We look forward to returning again and again as well as trying out the other camps they offer including the bush camping experience. Thanks team!! Amazing!!

It’s hard for me to put into words just how breathtaking our experience was at Kicheche. This was my first Safari and my partners second and we were both completely blown away by the camp, staff and conservancy. On arrival at the camp we were greeted with cold towels and drinks and welcomed by Minnie, Sheila and Bernard and then taken to our tent. I could not believe how beautiful the room was. The housekeeping is exceptional, far beyond any level of detail I’ve ever seen before. We saw elephants, cheetah, leopard, lions, crocodiles, hippos, elan, giraffe and much much more. Our guide was Esther who was absolutely fantastic. She was so knowledgable and so easy to get along with, we feel we have made a friend for life. Throughout the whole trip we were met with so many lovely surprises and personal touches. The kindness of the staff actually bought me to tears on more than one occasion! We simply cannot recommend Kicheche enough. Please please book your Safari here and meet wonderful people and see stunning wildlife. Special shout out to Esther, Minnie, Nelson, Bernard, Joleyn, Elijah, Chef Nick, Sheila, Peter and Faith who made this trip the best experience of my life.

I had an incredible experience at Kicheche! We stayed at the camp for three days but wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was not only highly professional but also provided exceptional service. Our safari guide, John, was outstanding—his knowledge and ability to locate every animal and key event in the conservancy left us amazed. Naboisho Conservancy offers a luxurious, intimate experience where you never feel crowded. Miny, the manager, made us feel right at home, checking in every day to ensure we were all set for our safari adventures.
