"Blurring the lines between retailer and workshop, Kid Icarus allows visitors to observe the screenprinting process while they shop. In addition to the studio’s own line of greeting cards, posters and colouring books, Kid Icarus sells a good range of arts-and-crafts supplies, currently available online to be collected outside the shop."

Nice art and cute prints and designs for a reasonable price. Some of the quality is better on other peices than others but a great place to stop in for a small gift or card.

Google
have stopped by a few times for prints, this time i attended a fantastic screenprinting workshop led by the owner Michael. he was super informative and down to earth, making the class really fun and we got to keep the prints we made!! really recommend attending if you can or just supporting the business bc theyre really cool :)

I always buy a poster or print when I come in here because they have new stuff! Staff is so nice and friendly! Just make sure the cat doesn't slip into the store when you enter. Apparently it's hard to get him out once he sneaks his way in!

Google
Cute little shop in Kensington market. We went in looking for greeting cards but were pleasantly surprised at all the neat things in that shop. Definitely worth going to! I would come here again to check out the unique selection of all things stationary

Google
Staff were friendly and helpful. The screen I had made there came out fine.

Google
Super cool shop with lots of unique and clever print creations. We really enjoyed it, my wife liked the in house printed cards and i found several interesting books there.

Google
Have loved going here for years. The unique selection of house-made/local designs as well as cute trinkets make this a great go-to for gifts! I always have fun browsing through the huge amount of posters they have for sale. In my most recent visit, Subin paid close attention to what I was looking for and helped me find the perfect greeting card 🙏🏽

Google
Excellent card, gift and novelty shop but too many cat themed items. It reminds me of the bacon trend from the 2010s, it got oversaturated and no one asked for it beyond it on their plate. Keep the cat trend online, and diversify your products themes please.

Yelp
I'm a letter/postcard-writing nut. I absolutely adored this place and will hurry here on my next trip to Toronto. My only complaint is that it's not twice as big! Such a wonderful local shop in Kensington Market, filled with high-quality stationery and beautiful cards, funny hipster cards, prints, and artwork.

Yelp
With lots of card companies like Papyrus and Carlton Cards closing shops, I'm glad there are still local shops sticking around. I came to purchase some cards. If you are looking to buy pre-made multiples, they only have it for thank you cards. The shop is cute with lots of different little knick-knacks and gifts. I wish they sold more pins of food items. That would be a cute little gift. However, they do have a pin of a Monstera leaf which I thought was cool. They also have workshops for screen printing though I think that's been on pause. By the checkout counter, there are free bookmarks from what seems like leftover prints they've done. What a nice touch! I like that!

Yelp
Kid Icarus was on my to-visit list on my vacation to Toronto, and it was well worth the trip! I went with the intention of finding artisan printed goods as gifts for friends and family, but found so many items that I enjoyed, I bought them all for myself. The selection of pins, cards, journals, cloths, posters, and more were all lovely and unique, and I'm so glad that I could support local artists while purchasing some beautiful finds!

Yelp
Great little spot for cards - some printed here, plus lots from other places. There are also some nice posters, art/crafting supplies, and cute gifts, albeit pricey and seemingly quite limited ("curated"). Staff are all behind the counter, so you're left to your own devices until you go to the register to pay. Note that there's a fee for credit card purchases under $10.

Yelp
Place: This place is a stationary lover's dream. It is super artsy and has all the crafts and resources you need! The place is very aesthetic too. Service: The workers are nice and they are really friendly; i think they are all artists because they have like an pottery thing in the back that they all work on for other projects or maybe classes? Not sure tbh Price: The overall price is pretty expensive but overall I think it is worth it if you have the money. Personally for me I had to observe sadsss Audience: Open for all! Young and Older :) Recommend/tips? I would recommend everyone to go but it does get pretty crowded. I wish I brought more money that I could spend some on one item I wanted. Maybe next time?

Yelp
A quaint little store in Kensington Market offering cards, prints and some art supplies. Friendly and helpful staff.

Yelp
I agree with others, it's good card selection and merchandise for downtown Toronto. I was really shopping for ideas and looking for a place to help me with party invitation cards and design. Their web site did say to call/email them for an appoint but I wanted to browse in the store again for ideas first. When I saw envelope colours I like I asked the staff if they have ones that had prints in them or get the customized, and she answered with a prompt, "No." Another staff made no effort to hide her remark, giggled and said to the first staff, "That was a straightforward no." Not going to ever give them my custom orders would refer them out. I get it's Kensington but com'on. Go on and talk to each other about your staff day at Wonderland and what rides you want to be on. I get it's great weather today, it's Friday, but you're paid to work and it's just bonus you have a great staff that you like and have Wonderland staff day coming up.

Yelp
Wandering through Kensington Market, I saw a store labelled, "Kid Icarus." I like video games. Video games are fun. They're an important source of calcium for all growing boys and girls, or some such nonsense. So, it I went. It turned out to be a screen printing store. Want to buy your own screen printing supplies? Check. Want to buy some screen prints? Check. The screen prints they sell are limited in number, so it seems as if you have to check back regularly to not miss out. And while I dig this, there was also something that bothered me - some of their prints are "limited edition" runs. For example, the old Metropolis movie - they made posters for it. The red and black versions were $35.00, but the "limited edition," was $65.00. Charging more for a colour pallet seems like an odd choice. There's a great image of Donkey Kong sitting on barrels, using the princess' rib to pick his teeth, having just eaten her and Mario. There was another great Zelda print that I would have picked up (if the ink were green, and not yellow.) I'll be back. As I said - I like video games. And, as a growing man, I now like art. So - hey - both these things work.

Yelp
A gamers paradise. There is so much here to explore and look at. Additionally it's well organized, clean, and affordable. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. I liked that they had a testing center that you try out items that you are interested in. The had a lot of rare items my boyfriend was looking for which made the shopping experience great! They offer a place in the back for magic if you play. They were also playing Halloween 8 bit which I really appreciated. Great experience, great place!

Yelp
Sick of greeting cards that are all the same? Then Kid Icarus is really the spot for you! Kid Icarus is full of unique, creative cards which are slliiiiightly on the pricey side (around $6 for a card that's blank inside), lots of gifts, and also posters. The card collection includes mostly blank cards as mentioned before, but they're so beautiful that it's worth the extra effort of including your own generic message (or I guess you could write from the heart or something...). They include birthday cards, thank you, and ones that can be used for anything (also come in boxes!). They also have holiday-specific cards, I got a great Valentine's card this year! Though I do love the products they have, the service is a little lack-luster which made this review a 4-star instead of a 5. You definitely won't be greeted when you come in (from my experience, anyway), and sometimes the sales people are chatting with friends, or other customers, and it will take some time before they realize you'd like to purchase something. Also, they don't like to use debit for purchases of under $10 (so bring cash!) which they told us after our maybe... 10th purchase? Also I'm pretty sure you can go there to get things printed, if you want something custom. I know they do bulk orders of posters, but I bet you could also get them to make you cards, if you had a design in mind and wanted a ton of them printed! Anyway, Kid Icarus is definitely worth checking out - it is a great addition to any visit to Kensington Market!

Yelp
Wow. What to say about this shop? We randomly stopped in one day while walking around Kensington Market due to the cool storefront. Upon entering I noticed all of the cool screen printed music posters from a ton of different bands. All were very reasonably priced and were available with or without a frame. They have very cool stationary and greeting cards as well. Most of the stuff I had never seen before which really made it that much cooler. After realizing Kid Icarus does their screen printing on site we decided to ask and see if they did custom invitations. They do! We had custom wedding invitations made. Every last detail was designed professionally and we couldn't have been happier. They even helped us print logos on our CDs which were included in the wedding invitations. The entire process was a lot of fun. We got to select and design every aspect of the invitation from start to finish. I couldn't imagine not having Jordy help us out. She was awesome. We've gone back several times since to pick out gifts for friends. Everyone loves Kid Icarus!

Yelp
Beautiful prints and gift items here. I came here looking for some unique Christmas cards and found some fun ones. BUT, I saw one of the cards I got here (like, the *exact* same one) at Blue Banana down the street for like 75cents cheaper. I know it's not a big difference, but still! Ever since then, I'd rather go to Blue Banana (their selection is better anyway). However, if you are looking for great custom prints to decorate your home or really beautiful wrapping paper, it's still worth checking out Kid Icarus.

Yelp
This place is amazing. They were somehow able to pull off a 24hr turnaround for 50 beautiful screen-printed business cards. Great people, and the store is full of wonderful nonsense.

Yelp
Went in for wedding invitations, and after 3 weeks of meetings and design work, B__ got irritated and refused to keep working with us. I feel sorry for Mike, her husband, who seems to be a very kind soul. Best of luck to you, Mike, but not your business. I really am not happy writing this, as their work is phenomenal, and that's sometimes a rare treat. However, I will never give them any business and will forever have a sour taste for their poor business ethic.

Yelp
Super cute card/print shop. Really unique cards and some that are printed in house. They also have nifty posters and some cute jewelry. Many of the cards are blank inside, which I generally prefer. In fact, I enjoy it because I can buy a bunch of cards and "store" them for later use. Although there are unique cards, they're not THAT unique. Some of the cards they sell you can find at Indigo. I'd prefer if they had more cards that were just their own. But I'd rather shop at this store than Indigo and I like what they have to offer.

Yelp
A cheery store is great for browsing, but steep prices and limited stock kept me from purchasing. I'd love to support the store and its clients, but I do think they're overcharging a bit. It is worth inspecting. Maybe you'll strike gold here. It's certainly possible.

Yelp
Agree with the fact that Kid Icarus is a good local printshop but they provide some really poor service. Not very helpful or friendly, staffs are intimidating to ask questions, always deep in their own conversations. Disappointing attitude and service. Especially when its local business, its all about communications and service and Kid Icarus suck at both and the more worst part is, they don't give a shit about it.

Yelp
Such lovely stuff in here. It was very crowded but once the staff helped me get the necklace I wanted she was lovely and I bought the most gorgeous print. Everyone was friendly in here and they really have a nice amount of unique things with curated stuff you could find elsewhere but probably won't. Definitely stop here if you're looking for new wall art or gifts.

Yelp
Lots of unique items and gifts here for everyone's taste. If you want that special gift for someone and want a unique item, instead of cookie cutter types of items, this is the store to go to. A little pricey but if you want unique items it is worth the price.

Nini A.

Yelp
Like everyone else, I also think the place is a bit pricey. But that is a result of having a unique collection of things. I've been shopping at KI for quite a long time now, and often bought things that cannot be easily found elsewhere. I was surprised to read that the service is not friendly, I always found the service to be helpful, especially around providing information about the artists the store works with.

Yelp
This place is pretty cute, but I find it a little overpriced, and the staff are not so friendly. I've been in a few times, and I've never been greeted, even when I'm the only one in the shore. I get that there are some independent artworks on sale here, but I've seen some of the cards and notebooks and knick knacks cheaper elsewhere.

Yelp
Kid Icarus is a cute print shop specializing in creative greeting cards, posters, and buttons. The shop itself is very small in size and the shop keep was quasi friendly (I came into the shop with a coffee from Ideal and I was greeted with a snarly face and he requested that I do not spill my coffee-which sort of seemed redundant since I am a fully functioning adult with fine motor skills-my dexterity is so fine in fact that I would never spill my drink all over their fancy cards...so, I put my coffee on the ground outside of the store to appease them). All products are made and printed locally. The prints and patterns are interesting and unique. The prices are above market value for greeting cards, however, if you want locally printed goods than it is well worth the price.

Yelp
Cool stuff. Unique and trendy. Most (if not all) of the stuff in the store is made on site I think. A little overpriced, but it seems like most everything is overpriced a little bit in the area. Got a great poster that we framed and hung in our house for $30. Worth browsing in for sure!

Yelp
this place is awful. The employees and manager are snotty and condescending, and when I paid them to make screens for me they messed them up and wouldn't take responsibility for their mistake or fix it or rectify the situation in any way.

Polina B.

Yelp
Love the selection of cards and gifts at both the Parkdale and Kensington locations. However, the customer service and staff training is lacking at both locations.

Brooke L.

Yelp
Kid Icarus has a wonderful assortment of stationery, stamps, books, and cool textiles, and in the back, houses the best screen-printing press and design team in town! I was over-the-moon when I saw the gorgeous screen-printed celestial-themed invitations that Stephanie created for my Joshua Tree wedding earlier this year. It was a great way to set the tone and to get guests excited for the day. She is very talented and lovely and dependable and we really enjoyed the design meeting and the whole process. I really think this is the best place in the city for invitations and can't recommend Kid Icarus highly enough. I also think the prices are very fair considering the handmade nature and time-intensive screen-printing process. Once you see what they can do, I'm sure you'll agree it's worth every penny. I also love Kid Icarus' handsome wooden custom-made return address stamps. We had one made for our wedding invitations, and I just got two more because my sisters requested them for Christmas. I will continue to bring my business to magical Kid Icarus!
