The Kiel Maritime Museum is amazing, especially considering it’s free to enter. There are many interesting exhibits inside, and while it’s not as big or modern as the Amsterdam Maritime Museum or Museum in Genoa but it's definitely worth a visit

It's alright. A fair share of model boats and ships, a few of them interactive (press a button, and a section lights up), and there are also some audio and video clips. A decent amount of things to learn here about the local history; Kiel as a port in general.

If I have to describe this place in three words, they would be: small, cozy, comprehensive. Since the museum is dedicated to the city of Kiel, it does not try to show everything related to seafaring, which is very good. Specific exhibits related to Kiel and its maritime history are comfortably arranged, and for those who like to delve deeper, accurately collected and conveniently accessible information is presented as well. You can also see unique exhibits, such as the remains of a two-seater submarine. The museum is worth a visit even if you don't have much time, as it is located in the city center and is therefore easily accessible on foot. At the same time, due to its size, it is easily bypassed in more than an hour. Another advantage - the entrance is free.

A free museum next to the cruise terminal. Has a bar attached if you need something to drink. The museum has a variety of exhibits. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You’ll need a 2 euro coin deposit to use the lockers if you’ve got a backpack or bags. It wasn’t crowded during the weekday afternoon that we went.

Cute small museum FREE OF CHARGE with a focus on the local history of maritime and trade history with nice and partly really impressive exhibits, s.e. a super mall WWII 2 man submarine wrack. It also includes information about sailing, shipyards etc. If around definitely worth a visit! Super nice staff btw!

Spent a couple of hours here. It's near the port and the view from outside the museum overlooking the sea is quite nice. The museum exhibits speak to Kiel's rich maritime history and their tag of being Sailing City. Lots of great images and factoids, in German and English. Some of the exhibits provided exceptional insights into Kiel's role in maritime growth and development of technologies that furthered ocean exploration. There's also snippets of Kiel's role in the Olympic Games over the years, especially for sailing events. A short, but must visit attraction in Kiel! It's not very big but there is a lot to see and admire in this very well kept museum space. Entry is 4€ and there's lockers available to keep your backpacks. No restrictions on taking photos at the museum itself. You can buy some really cool postcards before you leave the museum and these have exceptional print quality! Would surely recommend picking up a few, at just about €1 per card. There's a cute cafe at the exit, where you can catch a break too.

Very informative museum. We had an opportunity to learn more about Kiel. The museum provides plenty of historical pictures including also the very beginning of the 20th century. This museum is interesting both fora kid and an adult.

This fascinating museum has free entrance. All exhibits have English translations. It is beautifully laid out and very interesting and informative. I highly recommend you take the time to visit. But don't be in a hurry as there is a lot to see. A restaurant is next door.
