I visited in February 2015, and despite the fact that many of the nearby attractions were closed for the winter, still loved it. We rented a cottage and were pleasantly surprised to find a roaring fire already blazing in the fireplace when we entered. There really isn't any gas/electric heating in the cottage, but the fireplace keeps it warm enough. There is nothing fancy but it was warm, cozy, and friendly. My young kids loved the nature preserve with zubr (bison), donkeys, sheep, and goats, and had a blast breaking the ice on the stream. Unfortunately the museum of weapons and local castle were closed, but just walking around the grounds made up for that. We did find the large castle in Tykocin open and enjoyed the tour there. Note that the synagogue/museum is closed on Mondays (unfortunately for us). The restaurant on the grounds (Karczma Rzym) served a very hearty, tasty lunch/dinner (the goose was delicious!) and a plentiful breakfast spread that even my four picky eaters (aged 10, 7, 4, and 4) enjoyed. Free wifi only available in the restaurant and hotel, not the cottages--but that didn't matter!
