Kiez Hostel Berlin

Nice, quiet, cozy hostel. I went at end of November and it was very chilled. Things I liked about it: - great location in friedrichshain - hot showers - nice common area - clean rooms/bathrooms - friendly staff Things that could be improved - it would be great to have extra blankets because sometimes it got too cold in the rooms. Although they do provide hot water bottles. Overall a very nice stay.

This hostel is really, really nice, especially considering the price. I was in a 3 bed room with my travel companions. The room was really nice - clean, nice lighting, comfortable beds and nice decor. We share the bathroom with 1-2 other rooms but it was never an issue. The bathroom/shower was always really clean. One thing that really impressed me was all of the little details: an electric kettle with tea bags and mugs in the hallway, hot water bottles in the room, a nice table make up mirror in the room, etc. The only issue was with check-in. We arrived during the normal check-in hours and no one was there. Another guest let us in and we waited for about 20 min before an employee showed up. I tried to call the official number - it was disconnected. I tried to call the cellphone number on the reception table that said "call in emergency" and I went through to the mailbox. The next day I saw another new guest ringing the doorbell for the reception and not getting any reply. It may have just been an issue that weekend, I don't know. But besides that it really was an amazing stay and I would definitely stay there again.

BEWARE: They WILL make a mistake booking you, and then they WILL throw you in the street. I arrived yesterday, October 21, at 20:30 pm after a long day of traveling. I HAD made a booking on their own WEBSITE, using their own system. I got a reply "it's 20 euros" to which I asked if it's tax included. They replied yes, to which I replied great then, see you tomorrow! At the time of this there were 15 beds available. Well, when I arrived they simply said "sorry man you're just not in the system and there's no space". The guy in the reception tried a bit to help me, but then this guy that worked as a BOUNCER pretty much just told me to go away, when I was asking they take accountability for that and help me somehow for THEIR mistake (it was night and no space was available close by and any close to the agreed price with this hostel). He refused to check the emails and the mistake himself, and told me that this is not how they work. For the whole day they sent me nothing informing me of any change or cancellation. The guy also totally made a scene by escalating the situation and being the rudest, most disgusting host I've ever seen in a hostel. He, of course accused me of disturbing the place, even though up until that point I had remained absolutely calm and quiet, especially given the situation they caused. The lack of professionalism and accountability is insane. For people who want to feel like, and be treated like a number, and be thrown in the street when this hostel makes a mistake, this is great. For people who expect a place that understands traveling culture and the expectation to stay in the place you clearly booked, there are much better options in this city. It is Berlin after all, and here you will just get the worst impression of it.

I stayed here for several days and had a good experience overall. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Each morning everything was tidied up nicely, which made the place feel well cared for. The location is great if you enjoy vegan food — there are a lot of vegan restaurants and even a vegan supermarket just around the corner. The kitchen is fully equipped and there’s a fridge available for everyone to use. A few small downsides: the building can be noisy because of the laminate floors, and the beds squeak whenever someone moves. After buying earplugs these nuisance was reduced a lot. After a few days, the location feels a bit less convenient though for exploring the whole city, but public transport is closeby so if you don't cycle this problem is not so important.

Absolutely loved this place, I was bike touring and they let me keep my bike in the room making my life so much easier. The cleanliness and attention to detail is unmatched in any hostel I've been in, the lobby/chill area is tasteful and relaxing. There is also a kitchen, fridge, and area to make coffee/tea. Highly recommend this place I think it's the best hostel in Berlin.

I had a wonderful stay at Kiez Hostel. First of all, it was so clean!! it felt so comfortable, the beds were so cozy, and rooms were decorated in such cute ways. The staff was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, fresh linens, clean bedding, tea, etc. The common space was also so comforting! It was a space that was a welcome return after a long day out. Additionally, me and the group I was traveling with didn't have a flight out of Berlin until 11pm, and we were able to keep out bags in the common room, hangout, use the facilities, and be in the space until our flight which was so nice. Great stay, great service, and very convenient location. Felt more like a boutique hotel than a hostel!

Great stay on a good location. Close to the mayor clubs in Berlin. A bit too expensive for a hostel (shared room) but that probably had to do with high demand due to CSD. I arrived late and had to do self-checkin which was very easy with good instructions. Room and facilities very clean. Staff helpful. Lockers in the room are small. You can only store your most valuable items but they are too small for a suitcase. I will come back!

The best hostel I’ve ever stayed in!! As a female traveller I felt incredibly safe and at home here. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The location is perfect, in a great area of Berlin, right next to the train stations/ trams, yet on a quiet street. The cleanliness was perfect in the bedroom rooms, bathrooms and toilets. Plenty of space and ammenities, the common room and dining room is super cozy and a great area to relax/ chat to people. The owner is a sweetheart. Highly, highly recommend!

The worst hostel I ever stayed in europe. Not a good experience. Bad Design is everywhere. This is They repair the bathroom during the day time, big noise. Heaters are turned off in day time, crazy cold in the room. Staff are rude impatient and seems racist. My comforter(quilt) had been took away when i was in sleep in the morning without asking me. Only mine was took away. And staff said bc i didn't use it. What??? Never meet any one treat a customer like this! Something seriously wrong with this place. I will NOT come back even getting paid!!!! I might have a high bar for customer service which this hostel doesn't have any. And I am a very honest person and try my best to be fair to everyone. I will not be surprised the hostel will response to my review.
