Why Kigali, Rwanda, Should Be More Than a Layover Before Your Gorilla Safari
"No visit to Kigali (or Rwanda in general) is complete without a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Give yourself at least an hour to wind your way through the permanent collection, which integrates photography and video with personal accounts of the genocide from survivors. An outdoor garden and burial site acts as the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the devastating event that saw more than 800,000 Rwandans killed."
Get to learn about the dark times Rwanda went through, the reconciliation and peace the country is experiencing now, and where the people are headed!
The museum is a living history point!

A mind-boggling recount of the events leading to the genocide, the genocide itself, and the events that unfolded after.
The narratives, pictures, and videos show a distinct parallel between the Rwanda genocide, other genocides, and the holocaust against the Jews and other groups by the Nazis during WWII.

Poignant!
Deep. Unbelievably painful.
Very necessary to engage at a personal level.
Worthy reminder to humanity. Agency to be your brother’s keeper.
We all work in collar action just like upper and lower jaws, NEVER AGAIN!

The most harrowing experience of my life. Very well done, avoiding excessive politics, facts based and aimed at preventing any similar future event globally. Cried, a lot

The staff are so kind. The place is so clean and we'll maintained. As you walk though, you get the picture of events and emotions in real time. We weren't allowed to take pictures from inside the museum but outside photography is allowed.

You absolutely need to go there when you visit this town. It’s not easy to see all this tragedy but at the end you can see how peace re enter this beautiful country. And it’s totally free ( you can take an audio guide if your want). You can drink something in the restaurant at the end of your visit.
