We had a wonderful 2 night stay in this lovely ryokan. All the staff were so helpful and courteous. The service provided was amazing. Our kaiseki dinner each night was served in the dining area of our room. It was such a fabulous experience and one that I will always remember. It was by far the best meals during our visit to Japan. This was our first experience of using the onsen which was so relaxing. We enjoyed exploring the local area which was beautiful.

Not sure why this popped up for me to review, cos It was long ago which we had stayed there. Back then I have not join Trip Adviser for any review yet, thus now if have chance I would like to share my experience though it may have a lot of updates since then.|That was our first ryokan stay with onsen experience. We were with our two daughters for our wedding anniversary celebration. The ryokan stay definitely a new experience for us. The in room Kaiseki meals(dinner and breakfast) were amazing. They came and set up the table, prepared the dishes; and after meal, they cleared everything and set up the futon for us to sleep. The most wonderful part is the outdoor onsen which the picture showed. We were able to book private time slot for our family use, so I had booked one hour each to spend with my two daughters and my husband. It was winter time, we were taught by the hotel how to prepare ourselves to walk to the outdoor onsen with bath robe only and my, the experience till this day still the best I ever have. At the open air onsen, you could look up to the stars above you in the clear dark sky with the sound of the running water from the river/stream beside you. Also with the view of the hills opposite is just romantic and calming experience.|The meals were delicious, the staffs were helpful, and even it's our first free and easy trip in Japan, we have no issue to locate the hotel by bus. That was a stay I would never forget in my life and would recommend anyone I know to there.

Wonderful service! The attention to details is impeccable. The rooms are a little dated but it's part of the charm. I was in awe with the simple decor and atmosphere. We wanted a traditional Japanese experience and that's what we got. If you don't speak Japanese though, everyone there is able to communicate in English without any issue. Their little garden is very scenic. The outdoor bath is beautiful and cozy next to a river. The food is really tasty as well. Overall we had an amazing experience! As for transportation, you just need to get into a shuttle/ local bus from the train station. There's a bus station right outside of the ryokan. It's not in the most convenient area but the view is worth travelling for an additional 15 minutes.

This was the realization of a decades-long desire to stay at a Ryokan. I thought the food was the best of our entire 17-day trip through Japan. They specialize in pheasant dishes, and I was constantly delighted by the composition and presentation of the meals. My kids and wife, with less experience in Japanese food, were not as enthusiastic. They found many of the flavors and combinations alien. I thought it was brilliant, but your experience will depend on your background and mindset. The room was beautiful, but my wife found the futon + tatami insufficiently cushioning. If we were to return we would ask for a western-style bed. The ryokan is small enough that we never felt intruded-on by other guests. We almost always had the onsen to ourselves. The onsen was nice, but I do wish they had a hotter temperature option (I filled that need by visiting Tenzan public baths down the road). We reserved the rotemburo (outside bath) one evening. My 17-year-old loved watching the fireflies over the river while sitting in the bath. It was the most expensive stay of our trip, but because of the meals I thought it was well worth it. I wanted to get an early start on the Hakone circle course, so I wish they had an earlier breakfast option. We were a bit rushed to fit the whole circle in between breakfast and dinner. The ryokan is aged, but possesses a wabi-sabi beauty that is truly representative of the character of Japan. Getting to the ryokan with large luggage is inconvenient--it would have been smart to stash our big luggage at the station and just come up with our smaller bags.

We visited the place during june 2023 for two nights. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Room was nice and big compare to other places in japan. The outside onsen was fabulous the rest of the facilities felt a little old somehow. The breakfast was Japanise and not for every taste. Dinner we loved one very much but the second less. Staff was amazing and helpful. We enjoyed the place although prices are higher in this area compared to our other stayed in japan

This was a late addition to our trip and it turned out to be the highlight. The Ryokan was beautiful with incredible landscaping and lovely traditional decorations. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we felt relaxed and pampered the whole time. The highlight was the Onsen, we went four separate times during our one night stay. We really appreciated being able to reserve a private session at night so our family could go together. The food was also excellent - it was very different than our western palates were used to, but everything was high quality and beautiful. We'd absolutely go again.

Absolutely perfect stay! This property has exceeded my expectations! It is the BEST SERVICE i have ever experienced in all my travels. And the food was EXCELLENT! If you want to experience excellent traditional Japanese cuisine, then book this place! You will be amazed with their EXCEPTIONAL level of customer service. Don’t mind the reviews whining about them not offering a Western food option. If you want Western food and Western bedding, then this is not the place for you. But if you want proper Japanese kaiseki and experience a proper RYOKAN stay, then this is highly recommended. The private onsen at night was AMAZING!

Lovely ryokan onsen. The accommodations are traditional; it appeared that they were in the process of updating some while we were there. The futons were very comfortable and the sitting area looking outside was lovely. The rooms have a TV and phone; we used neither. The grounds are breath taking; especially with the cherry blossoms blooming. The onsets are amazing; we especially loved the outdoor onsen with the noise of the adjacent creek. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were huge; immaculately set up and delicious. Make sure you have a good appetite. We only stayed one night, and it was a perfect stop after several days in Tokyo. Service was also top notch and friendly.
