This Might Be Japan's Most Beautiful National Park — With Superb Hiking and Incredible Waterfalls

"Situated in the picturesque highlands of Utoro Onsen, Kiki Shiretoko Natural Resort sets itself apart as one of the larger properties in the area. It has ample amenities, refurbished rooms, and a buffet dinner with plenty of options, from Japanese to Western dishes, to refuel after a full day of hiking and wildlife spotting." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We love the ambience and everything about the hotel! Furnishing are very carefully and intentionally designed, really appreciated the overall cozyness we felt during our stay. Sadly we had to give the bathhouse a miss due to our schedule, but we enjoyed our stay regardless. The only confusion we had was the check in/check out timing — the hotel page says check out is 11am, but we got a phone call at 10am telling us we’ve exceeded the check out timing. Page also mentions check in by 6pm, but we were only able to arrive at 9pm+ due to our flight and car rental processes, hence we checked in multiple times with the hotel. They were kind enough to assure us to drive safely as we can check in any time.

Overall nice hotel with good Onsen. Sunset room had a good view of the ocean and the sunset. Lounge with drinks and snack is great. Breakfast for westerners a disaster as it caters to a mostly Japanese people with raw fish and veggies and is only available until 8.30am last entry. Ridiculous!

During my two months of travel in Japan, I have never been disappointed as a foreigner. This hotel exemplifies the warm hospitality that the country offers. We felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our week-long stay. Although the staff may not have been fluent in English, they were friendly and made every effort to communicate effectively, which we truly appreciated. While this is not a high-end five-star hotel, the service provided was of five-star quality. Thank you for your hospitality; we will miss you.

Do not book the “sunset view “ room. This allegedly higher level room than the standard is old, shabby, and looks like it has not been updated for 30 years (esp the sad bathroom).||My daughter and niece are in the standard room, a large, spacious, modern room that is cheaper. ||I feel completely misled by the hotel website. I’m spooked by this old shabby room but they can’t move me for the 3 days I’m here because they’re fully booked.||The second star is for the lovely English speaking woman at the front desk who showed kindness and empathy and tried to move me to another room. The manager was sadly disappointing insisting that the room had “high views.” I’m like um sure but the room is just scary. ||In any event, I hate being misled. Oh well, I’m shall try to enjoy my stay but I cannot recommend this place.

Great place to stay in Utoro Onsen. While the place is fairly large, it is very well organised. The breakfast and dinner does not have queues. The food spread is quite extensive and are good. There are extensive drinks menu available and included. Tried many interesting alcohol. The onsen is large and dont feel crowded. The rooms are new and welll maintained.

We had a wonderful stay at Kiki Shiretoko Natural Resort. The room was clean and comfortable, but what truly stood out was the amazing service. A special thanks to the female staff member at the front desk who speaks English—she was kind, professional, and helped us with check-in, check-out, and shuttle reservations to and from Utoro Onsen bus terminal. We’re also very grateful to the shuttle driver (a gentleman with glasses) who was always punctual, friendly, and welcoming. Their warm hospitality made our trip to Shiretoko unforgettable. Highly recommended!

Went in early March. The room was nice and clean. The view from the room nice. It's on a hill. So if you need to go into town, it's not so bad of a walk. The onsen was nice. With 3 indoor hot bath. 1 outdoor hot bath, 1 cold bath, 1 dry sauna and 1 wet sauna. At this time the ocean was still iced up. Never saw such a thing.
